Silence. No words were spoken. The only thing that broke the silence was the crackeling sound oft he wood burning. The laugther outside oft he cabin. And even though there was no absolute silence it was bearing heavy on the chest of the women brushing through the hair of her daugther. Her daugther, the preciuous gift oft he gods. The one she couldn’t protect. It was hard for her, yet she smiled. For one the youngest of her daugthers was here. Safe and sound. She wouldn’t let anything happen to her again. Not until she was like her. Not until she would have pages on her own in the book of valkyries. „ I am sorry for letting this happen to you, my sweet child.“ The older oft he two blondes whispers, while braiding the hair of the girl sitting in front of her. „If I’ve known.. I would've never left you.“ The younger of the two nodded. She knew that. Yes, she was angry but that passed a long time ago. „ I am safe now. I am here.“ She turned to her mother and reached out for her hand. „Mother..“ It’s been a while since she called her that. Not because she didn’t wanted to, but only because it would bring up to many question among other. The two blonde valkyries looked more like sisters than mother and daugther. Soon enough it would be even more so. It wouldn’t be long until Thyra would be claimed by her blood. And that was the reason Eir left her daugther so many years with her father. But here. Here in this small villiage, they called Lille Valhall, they don’t have to hide. For it was a safe haven for them. Valkyries came there, either to hide from the mortales for a while, some to raise their children so they wouldn’t have to leave them behind.

Pepa was it challenging to raise Dolores with her gift? I can imagine her having sensitive ears and you making thunder clouds would make her cry as a kid, on top of that she also has autism.

Raising Dolores during the first three years after her gift ceremony was the most challenging. Even before her gift ceremony, I noticed how sensitive she was to certain sounds and would sob uncontrollably and run to Felix when I would begin to thunder. She was always very attached to Felix growing up; which I understand because he had such a calming nature that attracted me to him in the first place. Getting her diagnosis was the most relieving day of my life, because that was when all the pieces were put together and I can find ways to actually help her, and not infantilize or invalidate her like mi mama did to Bruno and me.

Yesterday was a special day in honor and tribute to all the mothers in several countries around the world. Some of us got to spend time with our loved one while others remember the good times when our mothers were still in this world. In times where things can be tough, it’s always good to find solutions and comfort with a nurturing mother figure in your side.

Although this comic was uploaded months ago on Twitter by Pink Horizons*, it fits so well with the theme of mother knowing and accepting her child. The bond of both mother and trans daughter in this story is so heartwarming, some of us wish for a close relationship like that. Just because there are women who disown their transgender children make doesn’t mean all mothers will be the same. For a mother to be happy, their biggest wish is to see their kids be genuinely happy with themselves. If you still have your mother or any mother figure around, give her at least a message and thank her for her love and support. Happy belated Mother’s Day!

Im tired of hearing about all the grudges she has been holding onto like a hand

Im tired of comforting her about her deepest insecurities as if our bodies and souls don't share the same outline

Im tired of her reciting the most heart rending memories of her life to me as if they were bedtime stories

Im tired of revisiting those ghost houses and remembrances of people with hearts made of plastic through her anecdotes

Im tired of not knowing what to do or how to take her pain away, so for once the roles are reversed where she gets to sleep like a child and i get to worry like a mother

and mostly im tired of living her grief twice because what is a daughter if not the extension of her mothers despair ?

Very late Mother's Day post, but it's better late than never. This is more or less relating to the events that trans girls/women go through depending on the circumstance. No matter what they go through, they all have at least a supportive maternal figure they can rely to. On one of them, they are even a maternal figure themselves. I wrote a small story based on using these illustrations, each with their different scenario. All of them include a supporting mother. To those mothers who support their trans children, old or young, you are all amazing! To all of you, I hope your Mother’s Day was amazing. Hugs to all of you!

Based on the order of the pics:

Pic 1 shows a young Japanese trans girl trying out her grandmother’s old sailor fuku after she comes out to her. Being the only mother figure for the girl, grandma supports her journey and will do anything to see her now granddaughter smile.

Pic 2 shows a South Asian (probably Indian) trans girl wearing her mother’s old wedding dress and admiring their reflection. The mother may not understand at first, but she will do anything to make her child happy. Pic 3 shows the same girl (now an adult) years after her transition, ready to marry her groom. The plan is to disguise as her ex-wife’s lost “cousin” who is paying a visit to see her “aunt”. She does this as a way to challenge her daughter’s views and for her grandchildren, who have been eager to see their other parent for years, to reunite with them.

Pic 6 shows a young teen seeing a girl in their mirror after months of dealing with gender dysphoria. They’re afraid that their mother won’t accept them for being transgender. Pic 7 is the young teen, who has come out to her mother, admiring her reflection after her mother gives them a makeover. The young trans girl tears up after seeing their reflection match her inner identity, as well as receiving the maternal love and support she desired.

Pic 8 is about a trans mother and daughter being happy together. Despite them having troubled times due to a rocky transition, her daughter loves her parent and accepts her as her new mom due to her only mother figure abandoning them after she cheats on her then-husband.

Extra pic 9: Some grow up wishing to be like their role models while others may wish to be like their mother. Princess Ariel knows what it’s like to not be born human, so it’s no surprise she’s your role model. However, how would things turn out if she was your mother?

Extra pic 10: Turns out, both of you are similar. Ariel knows what it’s like to be born in the wrong body and has made it possible for you to live in the right one as well. Nothing is as beautiful as seeing you smile the brightest since forever.
