Sometimes, I like to imagine what the Hayakawa household would be like if Denji still lived with Aki and Power after part 1, and how Nayuta would affect their found-family dynamic. There's a big obstacle in whatever events replace chapters 74 on, and how it would shake up the household's previous dynamics, and how I don't have any idea what those events might be, so I can't get too specific. But it's still nice to imagine.

Nayuta is, of course, the baby of the family. Everyone dotes on her to some extent or another, which she enjoys. She also worries about the others, especially when they go off to fight devils. (Denji less than the others, obviously.)

Aki's still the oldest found-sibling, the self-appointed parent. Nayuta's rules help him keep order in the apartment; Aki's a bit annoyed that Power and Denji listen to her better than they listen to him, but he appreciates the help. But Nayuta's rules don't always match up with Aki's vision of a proper household (he probably isn't thrilled about tracking farts, for instance), so there's still friction there.

Power is most likely to spoil Nayuta, for reasons that are both obvious and a spoiler, which I am trying to avoid for the benefit of anime-onlies. Paradoxically, she's also the one who tries hardest to mold Nayuta, intentionally being what Denji and Aki recognize as a bad influence. Not a very effective influence, though! Nayuta mostly ignores her temptations, because she is a very different kind of girl than Power.

Denji's relationship with Nayuta is a lot like it is in canon, with one critical exception: Since Aki's still around, he doesn't have to be the responsible adult in the family. Aki successfully convinces/bribes Denji to do some of the responsible-adulting (since the other members of their household are a literal child and Power Chainsawman), but he isn't as responsible as he is in canon.

I can't decide if Nayuta would be more likely to try to stop Aki and Power from devil-hunting (it's a dangerous job for people who can die!), or if she'd try to accompany the three of them on their work (to protect them, mostly). Either way, this would be the one thing neither Aki, Power, nor Denji would budge on. They're going to hunt devils, and Nayuta is not, no matter how much she wants to.

The dogs are still there, too. Power doesn't like it (she sees them as a threat to Meowy and hates walking them), but everyone else likes them well enough. Aki isn't thrilled about having so many dogs around, but he doesn't want to throw them out into the street, and doesn't know anyone he could ask to take care of some of them for him. (Denji and Nayuta are, as per canon, thrilled to live with a pack of dogs.)

And of course, the Hayakawa household isn't an island. Kishibe checks in on them and lets them know he's available if the kids need help, not that he'd admit to caring about them. Asa, Yoshida, and Denji's other classmates butt in on occasion. And so on.

Just some thoughts. I'd love to turn this into a fic, but I don't have enough of a spark. Maybe an alternate version of that one date...?

WHY you SHOULD read (or watch) Chainsaw Man. A quick guide.

Section 1: What is Chainsaw Man.

Well it's a manga (and an anime) about a guy who can grow a chainsaw from his head. It's an insanely stupid premise. After becoming the Chainsaw Man, Denji, the main character, joins a devil hunting organisation.

Section 2: Chainsaw Man's perspective on love.

Beyond it's basic premise, it's about Denji, a homeless teenager with dead parents, forming close bonds with others for the first time in his life (not counting his dog/demon). His initial goal is to pursue erotic and romantic love (which he sees as essentially, the same thing and the most important face of love). In the beggining he mostly interacts with three other characters:

Makima, his new boss, an adult woman Denji finds attractive. She believes Denji to be crucially useful to her, and so uses Denji's attraction to manipulate him;

Aki, another devil hunter, a guy in his early 20's that Denji moves in with. He finds Denji to be annoying, but tries to keep him alive and becomes a sort of older brother to him;

Power, a devil in the body of a human, who's loud and inconsiderate. She and Denji get partnered at work and have to do patrols together. Eventually she moves in with Aki as well.

Section 3: simple character premises.

Denji- on the surface, a horny teenager, on a deeper level, an incredibly lonely person, on an even deeper level, also a horny teenager.

Makima- girl war criminal, mastermind with... really unexpected and interestingly written motivations (not telling u more lol those are spoilers for end of part 1 of the manga).

Aki- born to be a brooding, cool character, forced to be a single father of two.

Power- i never watched south park but the author literally said shes based on cartman. From what I know that does track. Shes gross and horrible I love her.

Section 4: female characters.

Ever got angry the female characters always have to be more toned down and less gross than the male ones? Well here every single female characters is just as evil, over the top, insane and gross as the male characters. The author is also really down bad for a girl who threw him off of his bike when he was in uni, take this as you will.

Section 5: anime or manga.

The anime only has one season so far, it's weirdly paced and the animation is (in my opinion) pretty boring compared to the manga's art style. It is however very accurate and barerly makes any changes.

The manga is on it's part 2 now (the first part is about Denji, Power, Aki and Makima and goes on for 11 volumes, the second part is about Denji and a new character, Asa). It's art style is great, it's very well written and in my opinion better than the anime.

Section 6: trigger warnings.

I'm not going to go into detail but some major trigger warnings are:

blood, gore, violence;

manipulation;

hostile work enviroment;

sexual abuse (specifically sexual abuse towards an underage character);

death;

chainsaws.

With all the respect I have for anime guys (none) I would I've thought they had this covered by now considering her personality c'mon

Power is as gross as it gets and proud of that. She'll make sure to burp loudly after a meal, laugh and even demand others compliment her on it (Denji sometimes will) and god forbid someone asks her to excuse herself she'll go on a rant about how humans are foolish and sensitive and care about stupid things

She was the one that taught Denji how to burp on command and she knows how to do it simply because she likes to make noise, she seems it as a fun little function of having a human body

As I said in Denji's post, they'll do burping contests together and burp near Aki just to annoy him. One of her favorite activities is sneak on Denji and burp on his ear to try to scare him, it rarely works tho, as he almost always sees her coming

She knows how to burp words and is very happy with how impressed Denji is by that ability

Overeal she's just really childish about the whole thing, always laughing about it and wanting to do contests.

Her burps tend to be relatively loud, but mostly they're long and deep, like they come from deep within her body. They're definitely not delicate or ladylike at all

• so aki's height is 6'3 so basically everyone is shorter than him, he doesn't really care about height honestly

• but the fact that someone short had so much feistiness and aggression like you made him chuckle

• he's the one calming you down always, dragging you away from getting into a fight with a cop, or from braking an arcade system when playing video games with denji

• aki is the malewife of the hayakawa family, and that includes making sure you don't get hurt or end up killing someone accidentally

• he totally rests his arm on your head if it's that big of a height difference especially if it annoys you cause he's an ass like that

• if you like food the easiest way for him to calm you down is him saying he'll get you food if you calm down, and it works, sure he ends up wasting money, but he doesn't mind because it's for you

• tbh aki is probably still very timid about looking affectionate with you in public, for the times it were and being devil hunters he didn't want to risk anything but if it came down to it he would grab ahold of your hand and rub his thumb across your knuckles to try and help without being too physical

• since you're smaller than him, it's easy for aki to just pick you up and take you somewhere else if you're getting annoyed fast or if you two are on a mission sometimes he'll just pick you up and run so he knows you're safe with him

• aki doesn't really cuddle, but he will always have at least one arm around you to feel if you leave or move, usually laying on his back or side facing you

• in private he is much more of a tease like if you can't reach something he'll hold it above your head for a few seconds until he gives in and hands it to you or when it's christmas time hold a mistletoe above you both

• denji is just shocked he was able to score with someone, especially a dude, seeing as he was so accustomed to liking women, he was at a loss when you came around

• he's not very tall like aki, so he takes every advantage he can with you being shorter, but at a price

• for example, if you ask him to reach something on the top shelf, denji will do it, but in return for a kiss or some sort of affection, you're lucky he's cute

• denji would most likely encourage you to fight people tbh 💀 if someone is being an asshole he's all like "fuck them up!!" and doesn't help at all and is cheering for you the whole time cause he knows you'll win

• offers piggyback rides because he likes carrying you around on his back even if you say no he's somehow doing it

• when cuddling denji just wraps his whole body around you, the height difference is almost perfect so his chin rests on top of your head

• denji doesn't care about being affectionate in public, mostly because he doesn't know and/or understand what homophobia is and just thinks people hate you both for being devil hunters...poor boy

• but yeah he'll do anything affectionate in public like hugging you from behind and resting his chin on your head with a bright smile, intertwining his fingers with yours and swaying your hands back and forth obnoxiously, pestering kisses all over your face

• and if you ever get feisty with it he just laughs and continues doing it cause he knows you secretly like it even if you show it otherwise

• denji does the weirdest things to help you calm down and not fight someone, like randomly picking you up and running away, yelling that there's a devil so it turns to chaos, or when in extreme dire situations, he'll exclaim that he's horny

That’s fair! I think that the best thing about Kobeni is her car, so there is that too. I honestly find her annoying, even though I was honestly so afraid she would die as well (especially when she got caught up with Chainsaw Man during the final arc). But we like different characters and for different reasons, therefore that is your own damn right to dislike a character for their own actions. However, it is true that Power IS annoying, but her behaviour stems mostly form her lack of proper human interaction before Denji (who himself has not known what is proper until then) and Aki (who instead feels responsible for them) and she feels like she has to navigate her life exactly like she wants to, without barriers, responsibilities or meaningful connections to rely on. Kobeni on the other hand, likely comes from another type of background and the horrors she has been definitely does not help her having a normal life. I do not think they are comparable, they just cater to different audience. However, they are both good characters (while a bit clumsy) which are somehow both realistic AND relatable.
