i just passed 3x13 Parting Shot (and wow do i feel the despair and hopelessness of Huntingbird leaving </3) which was the first episode that subtly points out Daisy’s monolingualism, which always… rubbed me the wrong way. you’re telling me that an orphan who was dead-on obsessed with finding her parents and her heritage and was most likely discriminated in her youth wouldn’t be curious of what language her parent(s) spoke? you’re telling me she didn’t spend her decade (and then some) pre-SHIELD to learn them, even if they’re just wild guesses?
so! consider: the most random group of languages she has surface-level knowledge of inferred from what other people think she is or recognize her as
Chinese: She’s half-bad with the tones, given the lack of resources there would’ve been during the 90s-2000s, but she can read conversations in Mandarin when she stalks Weibo. She’s probably hacked Chinese servers before since we know she knows her way around (see 1x05 The Girl in the Flower Dress, the computer was in Chinese and she completed her hack and then some in seconds.) Cantonese is at a very basic level. very (read: swear words)
Korean: She can read and write still, since it’s pretty easy (i learned the script once nine years ago and it’s still there lol). K-Pop gained notoriety in the US in the 2010s, she might’ve considered it. (is this me plugging my current Girls’ Generation rotation? probably LOL). knows a lot of words, none of the syntax and grammar. Probably listens to K-Pop too. Bonus: she surprises the team when they miss extraction in rural South Korea and need to get on a plane in Incheon for Plan B–the gov’t didn’t like the Avengers’ mess with Ultron–and Daisy gets them a train ride to Seoul despite their translator app showing Hangeul instead of its romanization.
Thai: she tried. she really did. but it’s too hard. she can recognize it when she hears it though. same goes to Vietnamese
Filipino: swear words (yes, even the Bisaya ones). and can probably manage reading upper class Taglish (it’s 90% English anyway)
Spanish: she understands maybe 60% of the rants on Twitter. also Brazilian Portuguese because they’re kind of similar
a lot of these are limited to reading because she doesn’t have someone to practice with </3 and none of them can pass as fluency but trust, she can read and listen
btw her contrast between 3x13, 3x11 and 3x17 hints on her being Hived, which i think is cool
#a lot of this is based on my experience as someone who tried learning a lot of languages at the same time#the levels vary but sometimes a viral tweet in one of them i will understand#also like. its just impossible for a clearly asian kid being discriminated and not thinking#what asian am i exactly#spanish comes from chloe bennet’s reddit AMA reply ‘asian american who happens to look mexican’ (non-verbatim)#and that denominator is: filipino!#lowkey i thought she was filipino when i was sure she was asian in Pilot but i thought that was a long shot lol#also Filipinos are everywhere online#most online people but with the slowest internet </3#thai is literally from fatty choi in interior chinatown thinking lana was thai#vietnamese i hear is similar to thai like malay-bahasa indonesia-cebuano#or even tagalog idk i can recognize some basic words in malay#anyways#brain rotting has commenced once again!#daisy johnson#agents of shield#headcanons#steph spiels#agents of shield headcanons#aos headcanons#god is this long

India ranks 52nd in digital quality of life, mobile internet speed soars by 297% as per Surfshark

India ranks 52nd in digital quality of life, mobile internet speed soars by 297% as per Surfshark. The Digital Quality of Life Index is an annual study that ranks 121 countries by their digital wellbeing based on 5 core pillars. India’s internet quality is 36% higher than the global average The internet is affordable in India compared to other countries. India is 66th in the world in e-security — 6 places lower than last year Digital Quality of Life - India is 91st in e-infrastructure and 35th in e-government. Globally, the internet is more affordable than last year. Methodology Surfshark’s 5th annual Digital Quality of Life Index (DQL) ranks India 52nd in the world, up from 59th last year. The increase is largely due to the country’s surge in internet quality, for which it now ranks 16th. However, the country faced challenges in e-infrastructure, ranking 91st. As for the remaining pillars, India ranks 28th in internet affordability, 35th in e-government, and 66th in e-security. In the overall Index, India surpasses Bangladesh (82nd), but lags behind China (44th). In Asia, India takes 13th place, with Singapore the leader in the region. “In many nations, 'digital quality of life' has merged into the broader concept of overall 'quality of life'. There’s no other way to look at it now that so many daily activities, including work, education, and leisure, are done online. That’s why it’s crucial to pinpoint the areas in which a nation's digital quality of life thrives and where attention is needed, which is the precise purpose of the DQL Index” says Gabriele Racaityte-Krasauske, Surfshark's spokeswoman
India’s internet quality is 36% higher than the global average
- Fixed internet averages 76 Mbps in India. To put that into perspective, the world’s fastest fixed internet — Singapore's — is 300 Mbps. Meanwhile, the slowest fixed internet in the world — Yemen's — is 11 Mbps. - Mobile internet averages 74 Mbps. The fastest mobile internet — the UAE's — is 310 Mbps, while the world’s slowest mobile internet — Venezuela's — is 10 Mbps. India’s internet speeds may not be among the fastest in the world. But the country’s high ranking in the internet quality pillar is largely due to high internet stability and an excellent improvement in mobile internet speed. Since last year, mobile internet speed in India has improved by 297%, while fixed broadband speed has grown by 16%.
The internet is affordable in India compared to other countries.
- Indians have to work 1 hour 48 minutes a month to afford fixed broadband internet. While this is less than average, it is 6 times more than in Romania, which has the world’s most affordable fixed internet (Romanians have to work 18 minutes a month to afford it). - Indians have to work 44 minutes 22 seconds a month to afford mobile internet. This is 3 times more than in Luxembourg, which has the world’s most affordable mobile internet (Luxembourgers have to work 16 minutes a month to afford it).
India is 66th in the world in e-security — 6 places lower than last year
The e-security pillar measures how well a country is prepared to counter cybercrime, as well as how advanced a country’s data protection laws are. In this pillar, India outperforms Bangladesh (85th) and China (79th). But in the global context, India is unprepared to fight against cybercrime, and the country has very low data protection laws.
Digital Quality of Life - India is 91st in e-infrastructure and 35th in e-government.
Advanced e-infrastructure makes it easy for people to use the internet for various daily activities, such as working, studying, shopping, etc. This pillar evaluates how high internet penetration is in a given country, as well as its network readiness (readiness to take advantage of Information and Communication Technologies). India’s internet penetration is quite low (60% — 95th in the world), and the country ranks 59th in network readiness. The e-government pillar shows how advanced a government’s digital services are and the level of Artificial Intelligence (AI) readiness a country demonstrates. India’s e-government is above the global average.
Globally, the internet is more affordable than last year.
- Fixed internet is 11% more affordable than last year — on average, people have to work 42 minutes less a month to afford it. - Mobile internet is 26% more affordable than last year — people have to work 41 minutes less to afford it.
Methodology
The DQL Index 2023 examined 121 nations (92% of the global population) based on five core pillars that consist of 14 indicators. The study is based on the United Nations’ open-source information, the World Bank, and other sources. This year's study includes four more countries than DQL 2022, reaffirming Surfshark’s commitment to global representation. India’s full profile in the 2023 Digital Quality of Life report and an interactive country comparison tool can be found on SurfShark here. Read the full article

Week 9: Digital Communities, political engagement and activism
An essential part of Digital Citizenship is Political engagement, and within that it includes campaigning and activism. A campaign can be defined as a “project of linked actions organised towards achieving a particular goal,” through political, social, business or marketing. (Stickels, 2020). In order for a campaign to be implemented and effective, it needs to have good organisation skills in order to grow and deliver. Organisation within a campaign means “working together to achieve a shared aim,” (Stickels, 2020). As mentioned in the lecture slides, “Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory,” (week 9, slide 8) (Sun Tzu and Alvin) meaning in order to gain ‘victory’ you need to have a vision and game plan.
Activism is “taking action to effect social change... through social, political, economic and environmental change,” (Introduction to activism, 2020). This means the activism group tries to put a stop to issues in society that could be affecting certain groups and communities. Some examples of what people are fighting for today include #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, #Climatechange and many more. Here are some images of protests that are happening as people strive to make a change to better and improve our society.

https://images.app.goo.gl/BCPMm1gdqv849PD66

https://images.app.goo.gl/xpi1NjnhgBbpwmFF9
In this day and age, with technology being the main source of communication for most people, a lot of activists and protesters are using social media platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook in order to reach out to a wide group of people from different countries and backgrounds. This shines light on certain topics that some may not be aware of and gets people involved in making positive change. Evidence suggests that there is a positive correlation between political internet use and political change and behaviours, which includes a wider knowledge and awareness of political subjects. (Yamamoto & Kushin, 2014).
When looking at current world issues, after the horrific death of George Floyd, millions of movements, campaigns and riots have been established in person and offline. Many people have been racing to Instagram to share images, call lines and petitions with their friends and followers, as well as using the hashtags in order to promote #Blacklivesmatter. During the past week or so, many activists have been promoting people to join the protests in order to make a change and get everyone involved and fight for what matters. This just shows that political engagement can be seen in all different types of ways. Every single person has a voice and brain with their own thoughts and opinions, holding responsibility and factors that could impact a community and help make change to the world.
It is clear to see that digital communities are being used by activists in order to promote movements and campaigns to a large group of people which helps spread awareness of a positive call for action. This movement, in the long run, will change the behaviour of governments as well as the minds of people all over the world. The activists had a vision, and a goal, as well as organisation and motivation, which created a movement that shaped the entire nation. Through social media sites, millions of people were able to get involved and stand up to fight for a cause they believe in.

What should my download speed be

#What should my download speed be tv#
#What should my download speed be download#
Think about it: all the information you send and receive has to go to space and back. Satellite internet is usually the slowest type of internet due to its high latency. Examples of some DSL internet companies are CenturyLink and Frontier. A few notable cable providers are Xfinity, Spectrum, and Cox.ĭSL internet can handle top speeds around 100 Mbps, but it usually performs slower than that because the wires carrying your internet data are older and more prone to interference over long distances. It doesn’t have symmetric upload speeds, and cable connections can slow down when a lot of people in a neighborhood are on the same network at the same time. Examples of fiber internet providers are Google Fiber, Verizon Fios, and CenturyLink Fiber.Ĭable internet is also a fast connection type with top speeds up to 1,000 Mbps. Notably, fiber internet connections give you much faster upload speeds than other types of internet. Let’s go through the main types of internet and how they affect speeds:įiber internet is the fastest type of internet currently available.
#What should my download speed be download#
With a fiber internet connection, you would usually get equally fast upload and download speeds.ĭifferent types of internet connections can affect your speeds in a few different ways, mainly in speed or distance limitations, network congestion, or high latency. The exception to these asymmetrical speeds is usually fiber internet, which tends to be more generous with upload bandwidth than other types of internet. So if your internet plan says 100 Mbps, your upload speed would be 10 Mbps. Internet providers usually give you 10% of your download speed as your upload speed. That’s fine for most because you don’t normally send as much to the internet as you get from it.īut for people who upload a lot of files, photos, or YouTube videos for work-or households where there are multiple video calls going on at the same time-you’ll want to make sure your upload bandwidth can keep up. Many internet providers advertise download speeds but keep upload speeds a little more hidden because they can be much slower than download speeds. But upload speed-the speed at which you can send data to the internet-is also important. This helpful video from Xfinity can help you visualize the bandwidth requirements for different tasks like checking your email, streaming, and making video calls.įor most of this article, we’ve been talking about download speeds-the speeds that determine how fast you can receive data from the internet. In our opinion, it’s better to have a little extra bandwidth than to get stuck with a little less than you regularly need.Ĭheck every internet plan in your area to find the speeds you need. Giving yourself a bit of wiggle room isn’t going to hurt either. That’s 5–25 Mbps for streaming, 3–10 Mbps for Instagram, and 3–5 Mbps for web browsing.
#What should my download speed be tv#
If you have multiple connections going at the same time, you also want to make sure you have enough bandwidth for every connection to run smoothly simultaneously-otherwise your network will slow down when multiple people get online.įor example, if you’d potentially have a smart TV streaming Netflix, a smartphone scrolling through Instagram, and a laptop looking up the best takeout in your area at the same time, 20–30 Mbps would work. Likewise, video streaming resolution affects how much internet speed you use-standard definition Netflix has a minimum requirement of only 3 Mbps, but streaming in 4K could easily use up 25 Mbps. Checking social media could mean a brief look on Twitter, or it could be endlessly scrolling through TikTok (which would use more bandwidth). The amount of bandwidth any online activity can use depends on a few factors.

Cycle 9, Day 1
So, before we get to today’s story, let me just quickly review today’s events. If you ever go in for hard-core, experimental, black magic chemotherapy, the first day of each cycle is always a complete circus. Everyone will want a piece of you (literally; I have to give blood draw and urine sample), and everyone wants to see you (the physicians, nurses, research staff, and the PA running the research team)(that would be Boston PA, for those of you keeping up to date). Also, to my physician or research friends who might be reading this, always take into account patient condition and/or special considerations. This is critical when you have a patient who has trouble with the heel-toe walk because they (the patient) sprained something in it the other week, and are still a bit sore. The big hold-up is that my veins and skin are, like the rest of me, slowly toughening and becoming impervious to conventional weaponry. Er, needles, I mean (I realize that might sound nonsensical, but the nurse who installed the IV - who’s done that to me on several previous occasions - noted that my skin was toughening). The good news is, by the time I finally got that sweet, sweet chemo, it was 1:30 pm, which means I probably won’t get the usual nasty side-effects until at least 11-ish, so there;s a chance I’ll be fully-functional this evening. Speaking of functioning, it’s also worth noting that I’m back on Temodar, too, this week, so expect my usual chemo-brain typos, half-thoughts, etc. until, let me check... Sunday? Oh, gods, this is going to be a very long week. Also, it feels like i got ten minutes of sleep last night, so there’s also a strong possibility I’m just sleep-deprived and rambling.
Anyway, since I’m out of ideas at the moment, and I’ve encountered some new questions, I thought I’d run those, with a caveat. So, these are questions either I’ve been asked, other patients I know have been asked, or questions I’ve thought of (or had new insights on). I bring this up because I recently used an online question someone had about getting their fifth brain surgery, and a few folks I know panicked on my behalf. Folks, I appreciate that response, but, at the same time, remember who’s writing this. I turned a dentist’s recent orders that I brush more into a moan-fest. I turned a sprained ankle/knee (still not sure which) and resultant X-ray into another gripe-fest. I am a grade A hypochondriac; rest assured that any major change in my medical condition isn’t going to be wasted on a bullet-point question.
1, Does [X] hurt?
Yes. Yes, it does hurt. I was asked this by a nurse this morning when they were having trouble getting a vein and making a repeat attempt. My rule for this is, use the Golden Rule. If it would hurt you, it probably hurts me. Today’s little insight is, even if you’re operating at a dramatically increased pain tolerance, it’s not like the little stuff is less painful, it just bothers you less (or you’ve developed some sort of coping mechanism to deal with it).
2. Do you want us to pray for you?
Yes. Deep, dark admission time, I asked a friend of the family who’s in Rome to light a candle for me. I know that, as an avowed agnostic who is deeply suspicious of organized religion (belief and faith are all fine with me, but organized religion is to those things what enriched uranium is to regular old radioactive isotopes - neither good, nor bad, but far too potent to let loose without some prior inspections and restrictions in place), I shouldn’t go in for that, but, a different friend of the family lit candles for me in the Vatican on each of my prior to brain tumors, and you do start getting suspicious. Having said that, if you can do more for a cancer patient, do more. If prayer is the best you can do, I’ll take it. Honestly, I don’t think it’ll make any sort of long-term impact on objective reality, but when you’re the slowest, weakest member of the pack, it gives a bit of a morale boost to know someone would at least notice your absence. Having said that, don’t do the classic American thing and outsource what’s intended as a kind gesture to someone else; I’ve gotten weird robocalls from “prayer centers,” which seems somehow worse than people praying for me or offering to pray for me. Again, if you can do more for a cancer patient directly, get off your ass and do it.
3. What should I expect of my brain cancer treatment?
I can only speak for my own treatment, but, basically, expect neurosurgery (which is still the biggest, nastiest, most-side-effect-inducing thing I’ve encountered, although the maintenance chemo isn’t fun), if you’re lucky (if it’s surgically accessible, that’s very good news; because it’s not near anything critical to basic survival - like breathing or speech comprehension), followed by a brief break, followed by six weeks of radiation and chemo, followed by 12-24 months of maintenance chemo. I’ve discussed (Hell, i kept this blog as a journal) assorted side-effects associated with each of these, and I’m still actively discovering new ones. But, here’s the thing; at each step, if it looks like the cure/further treatment might kill you, your doctors might be rather hesitant to go on with more.
4. What’s chemo like?
I don’t have any new insights on this but it gets asked (both in-person and via Internet) so frequently, I always feel compelled to answer it. It’s probably just as bad as you’d imagine, The side effects are numerous and dangerous (one of the long-term side effects of Temodar is, I believe, leukemia).
5. My insurance/doctor can’t kill me!
This was an online one, and I see it in a lot of people who finally have to read through that fine-print on their health insurance now that they’re a financial liability. First of all, human life doesn’t have any sort of measurable, US dollar value, which means that if there isn’t a major financial incentive to keep you alive, especially if it now costs more to keep you alive than you can directly pay. So, yes, assume your insurance will pull the plug on you the minute you try to cash in on your policy. Doctors, although usually less-directly responsible, can - and, based on anecdotal evidence, this is more common than you’d imagine - refuse to treat patients if they think the treatment will cause more harm/danger than good. This is usually a good thing; because you don’t want to stay on chemo long enough for it to kill your liver or kidneys, but that can cut both ways. And then there’s just basic incompetence and/or what the British Medical Journal calls “medical misadventure,” which is the fancy term for when the folks on your medical team or hospital make a fatal boo-boo.
6. Any new insights about proper mind-set?
Yes, and this one ties it all together. One of the downsides of doctors being hesitant to treat patients when they think it’ll do more harm than good means that GBM patients were, until very, very recently, written off. It is, at this point, I get to write about Ben Williams, PhD. B. Williams was one of the very first (if not the first) brain cancer (specifically, glioblastoma) patients to convince a major medical center to treat him. That was in 1995. Ben Williams is still alive. I’ve heard his name before, but I bring him up now, because he thinks (based on some interviews I’ve run across) that the major key to curing chronic, incurable cancers, is just to keep alive, and healthy enough to take more punishment and/or chemo on as-needed basis, and just keep zapping, poisoning, and frying any of those recurrent mofos until they give up. Admittedly, there’s a large amount of random chance and luck in that approach, but I now feel extremely lucky that the Warlocks rolled out from minute one asking if I’d like my chemo “Agent Orange” or “napalm” flavored. And from that perspective - that all it takes to survive a terminal cancer diagnosis is just grim determination to take more punishment, it is nice - possibly even necessary - to feel like someone is invested in your survival. It does help me take another step across the abyssal plain knowing someone’s willing to light a candle for me in the Vatican (thanks, Donna), even if I’m not much of a believer.

What Exactly Is a Chatbot and How Does It Operate?
"Good day, Mr. Harper." In a voice message, the store's website said, "Please share your inquiry with us so that we can assist you in improving your shopping experience." At some point, we've all received a similar voice note while shopping online or browsing websites on the Internet. These voice notes and texts, on the other hand, are simply electronic messages routed through a Chatbot or Chatterbot. The flashing icon at the bottom of the screen represents a website chatbot attempting to connect with you, and it frequently greets you with the text "How may I assist you?" They are regarded as one of the most effective tools for direct business communication with users.
The widespread adoption of the Internet, digitalization, and AI resources has resulted in a sea change in the global industrial space's working paradigms. Chatbots are the most recent technological gifts to the business world. Through machine-based instant interactions, they serve as a catalyst for the development of strong customer-business relationships.
In this section, we will take an in-depth look at the world of Chatbots. Consider the following:
What exactly are chatbots?
A chatbot is a piece of computer software that simulates a real-life human conversation with users. The program's pre-programmed instructions assist customers by generating automatic responses to their questions or initiating a conversation with them. Bots can communicate with users via social media platforms such as Facebook Messenger, Twitter, Slack, and others, as well as messaging apps such as WhatsApp, WeChat, and Telegram.
Chatbots' underlying technology enables them to interpret and process customer instructions in real time, resulting in solutions. The software consists of an application layer, a robust database, a seamless API, and a Conversational User Interface. The level of chatbot training inputs is an important factor in determining a chatbot's efficiency.
Chatbots come in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Three types of chatbots dominate the market:
1. Chatbots with predefined rules
Rule-based chatbots are the most user-friendly, straightforward, and simple-to-use chatbots. Users interact with these bots by simply clicking on them and selecting from a predefined list of options. People must make a few decisions in order to get results from the chatbot. To generate the results, the software analyses the data provided by the user. Due to the lengthy procedure, rule-based chatbots are frequently the slowest solution.
2.Unbiased Intelligent Chatbots
These chatbots are the latest craze in the market due to their use of Machine Learning technology. The ability of a computer programme to recognise patterns in interactions and inputs and derive information about the user entirely on its own is referred to as machine learning. The bot has been programmed to respond immediately to a set of keywords. It recognises the pre-programmed words and displays the results to the user.
3. Chatbots powered by AI
These are the most recent chatbots, which combine the best characteristics of rule-based and cognitively independent chatbots. AI is a new trend in computer science that aims to create machines that mimic human intelligence. AI-powered chatbots can remember information from previous conversations as well as customer preferences. They react immediately to any random user request. The chatbot follows a predefined information flow and uses Natural Language Processing to understand random language inputs.
How Do Chatbots Operate?
Chatbots serve as a link between a company and its potential customers. They are easy to build using chatbot training online portals such as Google's Dialogflow DX. These platforms provide a slew of tools for building personalised chatbots.
The chatbot software has three layers, which are as follows:
1.Basis of Knowledge
This layer, also known as the CMS layer, is essential for managing the overall operation of a chatbot programme. This layer provides customers with a real-time, user-oriented experience. The knowledge base aids chatbot software in engaging users and cultivating long-term customer relationships.
The second NLP layer
The Natural Language Processing layer is the beating heart of a chatbot. It is divided into two sections: natural language comprehension (NLU) and natural language generation (NLG) (NLG). The NLU aids in the analysis of various aspects of language content, whereas the NLG studies the input to provide the user with a reliable result.
3.Data Repository
AI technology is used to effectively train chatbots. This is a continuous process that requires a consistent supply of data. As a result, the software includes a data storage section to ensure an automated learning experience.
What are chatbots used for?
Humans have long wished to communicate with robots. We now have easy access to this technology thanks to our daily companions Alexa and Siri. Chatbots can be found everywhere. Being a certified chatbot expert can now lead to a high-paying position.
According to a recent Gartner report, bots will likely handle more than 85 percent of queries by 2021. According to Microsoft data, 56 percent of people who interact with customer service portals use texting. Some of the advantages of using a chatbot are as follows:
•An individualised customer experience
•Prompt responses with reliable information
•The service is available seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.
•It is less expensive than other technological tools.
•Users will have a simple working experience.
Chatbots in the Workplace
•In businesses where employees must perform repetitive tasks, chatbots can be useful. As a result, it has the potential to play an important role in sales, customer service, human resources, online business, marketing, and other fields. It has the potential to reduce occupational health and safety costs in the industry.
•In the entertainment industry, chatbots are used to broaden content coverage to users based on their needs, browsing patterns, interests, and so on.
•In healthcare, chatbots can aid in the simplification and acceleration of the sharing of medical data records.
•By analysing the data entered by users, chatbots can assist them in selecting the best insurance policy for themselves. They have the ability to handle claim settlements and policy renewals in a timely manner.
•In the future, chatbot development teams may create bots with Emotional Intelligence. These bots will be able to recognise human emotions and respond appropriately. The number of interactions between humans and artificial intelligence will increase as a result of this.
Conclusion
Chatbots' phenomenal success is directly proportional to the level of customer satisfaction they have provided since their inception. These powerful tools have helped businesses provide a better user experience. The most recent technology in chatbot programmes enables businesses to communicate with multiple customers at the same time using a simple and low-cost tool.

Why are YouTube videos taking so long to load? YouTube Videos Can Now Load in Seconds Using This Trick
YouTube video loading should be a rapid and painless process that even the slowest computers should be able to handle. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case, and many people complain about YouTube videos taking a long time to load, as well as having to repeatedly "buffer" their films. To resolve this issue, you must be able to resolve the different issues that contribute to it.
Step 1: Repair Flash Player -
One of the main reasons why YouTube videos take so long to load on Windows is that the programme that plays them is either damaged, corrupted, or functioning poorly. Flash Player is a free download from the developer's website latest Tech News , and you should uninstall it from your computer, download a new copy from the Internet, and then reinstall it.

Step 2 - Close Other Programs -
To get your movies to load, make sure your computer is exclusively focused on one programme. Many individuals try to run multiple apps on their computer at the same time, however this not only slows down your computer, but it also makes YouTube videos take longer to load. To resolve this issue, simply close all other programmes on your computer and ensure that only one is running.
Step 3 - Fix The 'Registry' -
The registry is the most likely cause of your YouTube videos taking a long time to load; it's essentially a central database of your PC's settings and files. The registry stores a vast number of settings for your computer, allowing it to recall a big number of details to help it work as smoothly as possible.
Unfortunately, many of the settings and files stored in the registry become corrupted over time, causing Windows to take longer to read them. This causes YouTube videos to load much slower since your computer will be unable to read the data required to play them.
To resolve this, you should use a "registry cleaner" to scan the registry database and repair any corrupted files or settings found inside it. These are commonly available online and download youtube videos online you have to do is run the registry cleaning and it will correct all of your computer's corrupted settings, allowing YouTube to load videos considerably faster.

We recommend a download speed of at least 10 Mbps to stream games on Stadia, and faster speeds for resolutions greater than 720p. Google partners with Measurement Lab (M-Lab) to run this speed test. Running this test could transfer over 40 MB of data, depending on your connection speed. Mobile data charges could apply. Page 1 of 2 - How do you run a speed test? - posted in Windows 7: I have a slow laptop. Yes, I know - big surprise - Win 7. I got so disgusted I did a factory reset, thinking that would cure it. Start testing your speed in seconds by using the Begin Test button on the front page map. This will find a server near you, and test the ping, download speed, and upload speed of your Internet connection. If you'd like more data, you can repeat the test, either to the same server or to a new one in a different location. The Spectrum Internet speed test will prompt your browser to attempt to download a test (or dummy) file. The speed test will keep track of how long it takes for your computer to download this file. Don’t worry—the file is harmless. This size of the file is then divided by the download time to calculate your download speed in megabits per.
In the past 30 days over 12,985,506 people have used speed tests to see their download speeds, upload speeds, and ping. Press 'Start Test' below to get started testing your connection.

Why Run An Internet Speed Test?
Net speed test app. For one, it could potentially save you some money.
Yes, really. You may be paying for more speed than you actually need, and these additional fees could be costing you month after month. Based on the information above, if you find that your internet speeds are higher than needed, we’d recommend reaching out to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and switching to a lower-cost plan.
Then there’s the flipside; you may be paying for speeds you’re not actually getting. Running our internet speed test is the best way to determine if your provider is actually holding up their end of the bargain. If you test your connection multiple times and find that you aren’t getting what you’re paying for, we recommend reaching out to your ISP for help. This will often solve the issue, but not always.
Keep in mind that using WiFi tends to reduce performance. The speeds advertised by internet providers are based on the speed you get with a device wired directly to the router using an ethernet cable.
How To Run A Speed Test
Before you start the test, there are a few things you can do to ensure you get the most accurate results.
Be sure to place the laptop, tablet or smartphone you are using as close to your router as possible. Distance, walls, plumbing and other factors can all have an effect on your results.
Be sure to turn off any other devices that might be clogging your connection. This includes TV’s, streaming devices, and other computers around your home.
On the device you are using for testing, be sure that you aren’t actively downloading any files or updates before beginning the test.

Understanding Your Internet Speed Test Results
In order to better understand your internet speed test, it is vital to know the difference between upload speed and download speed.
Upload Speed
Upload speed refers to how quickly your connection can send something (data, in this case) from your device to the wider internet. This number is often not the one heavily advertised by service providers online, and this is on purpose. In short, most activities online do not require high upload speeds. Some do, however, including Skype and other video chat services, online gaming, and large cloud storage applications like Dropbox and Google Drive.
Download Speed
Download speed refers to how quickly your connection can retrieve data from a website or server online. Almost all activities require a certain amount of download speed, so this is the main number you’ll want to pay attention to when deciding how much internet speed you need. Streaming multiple TV shows or movies at the same time (especially 4K media) and downloading large files are both examples of activities that require higher download speeds than average.
How Much Internet Speed Do I Really Need?
Determining how much internet speed you actually need is really a matter of how you use the internet on a daily basis. For instance, a power user in a large family who all frequently stream movies and shows, play games, and download large files is going to need a higher download speed to accommodate them. Meanwhile, someone living in a one or two-person apartment who just checks email and occasionally watches a show on Netflix will need far less.
For more information, be sure to check out our guide to determining how much internet speed you need.
How Does An Internet Speed Test Work?
Though there are a variety of different internet speed tests available online, they all essentially operate in the same basic way. In essence, when you begin the test, our tool will upload a set of files from your network to the test server nearest your location. It will then perform the same test in reverse, downloading the set of files from the server instead. Throughout the process, our tool measures a variety of data points, including the speeds of both your upload and download.

Despite how useful this information can be, you will find that the speeds you see reported will almost always be a bit lower than you might have expected. These variations are to be expected, and for the most accurate results, we recommend running the test 3-4 times back to back to get a solid average.
Speed Test Terms: How To Understand Your Results
BitsBits are foundational units of measurement for digital data. These are the ones and zeroes that make up binary code.
For reference, there are 1,000 bits in a single Kilobit (Kb).
There are 1 million bits in a Megabit (Mb).
Ableton live 10.2 download. There are 1 billion bits in a Gigabit (Gb).
BytesA byte is a common unit of measurement for determining how large a particular piece of data is. Each byte contains 8 bits. Since bits are such a small unit of measurement, it makes more sense to use bytes when discussing file sizes.
For example, there are 1,000 bytes in a single Kilobyte (KB).
There are 1 million bytes in a Megabyte (MB).
There are 1 billion bytes in a Gigabyte (GB).
Transfer RateSimply put, transfer rate refers to how quickly data is transferred between two or more devices. This can be done through the internet, or locally, such as transferring photos between a flash drive and your computer’s local storage.
Transfer rates are commonly described using a bits-per-second measurement.
KbpsKilobits per second. Only the slowest connections are measured this way.MbpsMegabits per second. The most common unit of measurement for modern internet connections.GbpsGigabits per second. Faster connections are measured this way.GBpsGigabytes per second. No currently operating consumer networks utilize this measurement.BandwidthYou can think of bandwidth as the total capacity a given network has in terms of data. ISP’s commonly advertise the best case scenario bandwidth when showing the speeds offered in their internet plans.
For example, if a provider lists a download speed of 25 Mbps, this figure is based on the full capacity (bandwidth) of the company’s network. During certain times of peak traffic, you may experience slower speeds.
ThroughputThroughput is very similar to bandwidth, in that it is a measurement of the amount of data that passes from one point to another within a certain amount of time.
Unlike bandwidth, however, this is a measurement of volume, not speed.
PingPing simply refers to a signal that is sent from a given device to a server, and back again.
You will usually see this represented as a “ping rate,” which simply measures how much time passes during the process of sending the signal and receiving it again. This measurement is reflected as latency on a network.
LatencyOften referred to as “lag,” latency is a description of the time it takes to send a ping to a given server and receive it back at your local device again.
Does A Slow Speed Test Mean I’m Being Throttled?
Not necessarily. Wix speed test turbo. There are many reasons why you may not be getting the results you expected from your speed test. Once again, make sure you run the test multiple times to rule out any random dips in speed. Also be sure to double check that no one else is using their device on your network when you run the test. Even a single smartphone can measurably alter your results if it is downloading a large update or streaming content at the same time as your speed test.
If you’ve ruled out the above and are concerned that you aren’t getting the speeds you’re paying for, read this: How To Tell If Your Internet Is Being Throttled.

What To Do If Your Speed Test Is Much Slower Than Expected
Our first recommendation is always to contact your service provider directly for help. They will be able to alert you to any network outages or other issues in your area, and can often troubleshoot your individual connection over the phone or via a live chat service.
Beyond this, if you can’t get immediate help, try using an ethernet cable to connect your computer to the router directly, if possible. If this doesn’t help, there is almost certainly something wrong with your connection on the provider’s side. If it does help, you may be experiencing signal issues with your WiFi.

Nov 24, 2004 Hi folks, So I picked up homeworld 2 for mac having played it on a friend's PC, but really missed the ability to add mods for multiplayer games when i played it on mac. I even emailed Aspyr, but they were no help. Then the other day i came across a an explanation for how to do it, at least.

Secondly Homeworld 2 was written and ported to the Mac in such a way that you can take advantage of many of the great game mods out there. I've run the version of the game wherein all the ships are Legos, for example.
The Homeworld Remastered Collection introduces Relic's acclaimed space strategy games Homeworld and Homeworld 2 to modern players and operating systems using the newest sophisticated graphics rendering technology, plus a fully remastered score and new, high fidelity voice recordings by the original actors.
I never played the original Homeworld – it didn’t make it over to the Mac and I don’t own a PC – so I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got this game. I’d just heard lots of positive buzz, and something about a real time strategy game set in outer space. So I wasn’t surprised when that’s exactly what I got. What did surprise me is how exceedingly cool this game is.
But first, a few words about most RTS games in general. In my experience, single player campaigns start off fairly slow and easy and gradually introduce new units as the storyline progresses. Many players finish up the single player campaign and then move on to multiplayer battles over the internet, where experience levels really matter. That is to say, most of us can beat a single player game with enough save points and a couple of tries. You just don’t have to be an especially good player. But multiplayer games tend to fall into two categories. The first, games with a few friends, all of whom know the game basics but aren’t particularly amazing. Then there are those players you frequently run into in online ladder games, opponents who are really great players. They know the ultimate build sequences, unit locations, rush strategies, resource gathering patterns… they have the entire battle plan in their head before they even start a game.
Well, maybe it’s just me but Homeworld 2 seems to require you be the second kind of player – the highly skilled one – to really get into this game. This is clearly not meant for casual gamers, and frankly I felt a bit overwhelmed at times. But even in the midst of a heavy battle where I was getting my butt kicked, I loved this game!
There seems to be a decent story here, which is told in stylized animated cutscenes with top notch voice acting. I confess to not fully understanding the major plot points, mainly because the “Here’s what happened in the last game” intro wasn’t particularly clear. But whatever. Seems like humanity’s survival is in jeopardy and you must lead a ragtag fleet of ships through space on a lonely quest for a planet known as Earth. Oops, that’s Battlestar Galactica. Sorry! Anyway, change the word Earth to Homeland and you’ll be relatively close to this game’s plot.
I know I’m in the minority when I say stories aren’t that important in many games. If I wanted a plot I’d watch a movie or read a book. Gamewise, the only story points I care about are the ones I need to know in order to play the game. But I will admit that these cutscenes were entertaining enough that I actually paid attention to what was going on, which seemed like a lot of “we’re getting our butts handed to us, let’s run before we lose more ships,” followed by a brief, “Whew, we’re safe! Let’s rest. What? Drat! They found us! Quick, fight them so we can run again!”
Homeworld 2 For Macbook Pro
And that’s fine by me. It kept me focused on the end goal of saving our species from the alien hoards. But in all seriousness, there does seem to be enough of a plot to keep story fans satisfied in between epic battles. And that’s what this game is all about. Epic. Freakin’. Battles!

In 1999, Relic Entertainment’s groundbreaking Homeworld took the gaming world by surprise. Still widely regarded as the gold standard of space real-time strategy games, it successfully coupled lush graphics with a sleek interface that made manipulating camera angles and toggling between build and formation menus in 3D space incredibly easy. Homeworld 2 takes the original and upgrades it. With a new game engine, especially during massive battles of all ship classes, you can’t help but admire its finer points, from its lovely dynamic lighting to its chilly “realism.â€
The Homeworld universe is “hard†science fiction, as opposed to, say, StarCraft. The large, complex battles it depicts have an austere, clinical feel that’s more admirable than immersive, regardless of the camera angle. But it’s great hard sci-fi, and the visuals really suck you in —literally—as you zoom in closer like a jeweler with a loupe, and the distant flashes gradually coalesce into thousands of stories unfolding. For a game totally devoid of visible living organisms, Homeworld 2 compensates by making you care about simulated husks of flying machinery. Your people live inside those fragile husks, fly them, die in them—the exhaust trails become their souls. As in Homeworld, you feel for these poor trusting bastards scrounging for asteroids out in the middle of genuine nowhere.
Which is partly what makes much of the martinet story campaign such a bummer. Homeworld’s poignant air of cosmic mystery is largely absent; here everything’s all grueling puzzle and puzzling grind. Instead of offerings like Homeworld’s wonderfully eerie Garden of Kadesh, the sequel gives you exhausting debacles like the fourth mission, in which doing things in sequence directly opposite from what’s suggested is not only possible but proves a tenth as ulcerous, and the outright sadistic red herring of the tenth one. There’s no let-up, just an overriding sense of attrition and hopelessness as you watch your entire “persistent†fleet get persistently pulverized many times over.
It’s not just the difficulty either, but the logic. The third mission introduces marine frigates, which “capture†enemy ships in multiplayer, but in single-player only give the misleading impression of being able to do so (including attaching to the ship and displaying a steadily increasing “capture barâ€). Also annoying is the automatic collection of resources. The lack of such an option was, ironically, one of the few valid criticisms leveled at Homeworld. Here, automatic collection occurs the second you’ve completed your mission goals, which entails starting the next level short-handed.
The storyline has its moments, but after Cataclysm’s strange, daring waters, Homeworld 2’s scavenger-hunt plotline feels for most of its length like an almost spitefully conventional rehash, top-heavy with extra-galactic ancient races that no longer exist except as convenient plot devices. (The whole thing’s an anthropomorphized riff on David Brin’s Uplift novels, which take space combat imagery to heights Homeworld 2 can only dream of). Your new enemies, the Vaygr, have swanky vertical missile launchers but don’t seem inherently distinct as a culture from your own Hiigarans; they are supposed to represent a “conglomeration of races.â€
Homeworld 2 For Mac Catalina
Homeworld’s interface involved toggling to separate screens for building ships and researching technologies, but there were few options, it never seemed cumbersome. Here the menu takes up a third of the screen, obscuring your view of the luscious space graphics, and you can’t move or shrink it. Hitting R minimizes the research menu, but B doesn’t minimize the build menu. For all their bigness, the menus don’t seem to use their space wisely; it makes you long for the minimalist simplicity of the sensors manager.
Many basics feel harder, although you get used to them. You now build the smaller ships in complete squadrons, presumably to make the battles bigger and more spectacular, but clicking on an individual ship gives you the relative health of the entire squadron at the bottom of the screen, which is less precise. Why not an AI setting to have ships auto-dock when they’re near death? Why can’t collectors auto-repair? Why no patrol? How about being able to assign docked craft to groups? Alt-bandboxing a group of ships that includes hostiles doesn’t show a list of all those selected, as it did in the original and Cataclysm
The beloved formations such as sphere and claw have been abandoned for new, more efficient “strike groups,†fleets that can include multiple ship types but move at the speed of their slowest unit. Familiarity with these is a major factor in combat, but the rock-paper-scissors consequences of using each type are barely touched on in the slender manual, itself a mockery of the original game’s thick, detailed documentation.
For all its clumsy new baggage and rushed feel, Homeworld 2 takes itself seriously, designed from the ground up as a reward to the faithful rather than an olive branch to the casual newcomer. The lucky few up to its Sisyphean challenges will find themselves rewarded for their loyalty.

Google Speed Test
Download speed is most relevant for people who are consuming content on the Internet, and we want FAST.com to be a very simple and fast speed test. What about ping, latency, upload and other things? When you click the “Show more info” button, you can see your upload speed and connection latency (ping). Speed Test - Speed Check can automatic select test parameters depending on the type of a connection (WiFi, GPRS / 2G / 3G / 4G / 5G mobile). ★ Real-time network speed test ★ Save Power Network. An internet speed test measures the connection speed and quality of your connected device to the internet. It does so by running multiple consecutive tests that analyze different aspects of your internet connection, namely ping (latency), download speed, and upload speed. Each of these values represents the connection's specific qualities, which you can read more about in the paragraph after the next. This speed test is conducted by sending and receiving data from your computer using your Internet connection. The remote machine to which your computer sends data and receives data is specified based on your location. It helps us to test your speed efficiently and gives the best estimate of your connection actual speed.
In the past 30 days over 12,985,506 people have used speed tests to see their download speeds, upload speeds, and ping. Press 'Start Test' below to get started testing your connection.

9 Ways To Safeguard Your PC While You Make Use Of File Sharing Plans
In these opportunities, when our experts frequently discuss the safety of our nationwide boundaries, probably much more presumed need to be actually provided to one thing that works under a much more steady danger of attack: your personal computer.
As a pc specialist, my viewpoint of a lot of file sharing plans is actually rather reduced. The majority of all of them possess a couple of pc safety and security choices of any kind. Many computer system surveillance businesses (consisting of Symantec, creators of the widely known Norton Antivirus software application) have actually affirmed that several P2P courses have spyware. And also, if you possess a broadband link, you're a lot more susceptible than dial-up individuals to download and install an infection.
I experience I ought to supply a couple of ideas to those take on hearts that carry on to make use of file-sharing systems, even with the ever-present probability of installing an infection that may from another location manage your pc, transmit your individual details to a 3rd celebration, or even simply erase your whole tough disk.
Below is actually a checklist of the ten finest pointers you can easily observe to reduce your chances of receiving an infection while participating in 'standard' file sharing. I'll crack the recommendations right into three areas: what to perform prior to you install the file-sharing software program, what to accomplish after you install it, and also what to perform throughout your use of the software application.
Obviously, it is actually difficult to deal with any sort of opportunity of receiving an infection. If you take a handful of preventative measures, you may stay clear of some primary issues.
Find out more about file sharing, visit: www.freebsdmadeeasy.com
JUST BEFORE you install any kind of file-sharing software application
1. Use anti-virus program AND anti-spyware systems
Cyberpunks are actually receiving smarter (as well as sneakier), and some infections can easily go unseen due to the absolute best plans. That is why it is necessary to possess multi-level help along with two or even additional protection plans. You'll be actually dealt with if you possess an excellent anti-virus system, a great adware course, and also an excellent firewall software plan, aside from whatever firewall program security your os included. Operate the courses weekly, whether you observe a complication or otherwise! Utilize even more than 1 for your Personal Computer if you make use of an additional than one hair on your main door.
2. Back up your pc BEFORE putting in any sort of brand-new software program
Allow's say that the program you consider setting up possesses additional infections than a privy! If you need to have to rejuvenate your personal computer to its own pre-software setups (after you remove the system, obviously), after that, you must support your body BEFORE you download and install any sort of unsafe software program. Utilize the system Restore capacity to help make the remediation a little bit less complicated if you possess Windows XP.
3. Review the software program AND its own producer prior to you install
There are actually numerous anti-virus plans that, in fact, have spyware. Since they certainly never troubled to check out the program manufacturer or even the system on its own just before they installed it, the major cause folks install software application like that is actually. Search for assessments of the software program as well as the business responsible for it, and also talk to numerous concerns: performs the program possess raised surveillance environments, exist happy consumers that provide it higher scores, possesses it succeeded any type of field honors, can it be actually totally uninstalled when you select to remove it? These concerns need to be addressed long before you also consider installing a specific plan. (view # 6 and also # 7).
4. Download each of your software applications coming from a respectable resource.
You may prevent a ton of agony by selecting to install your program coming from a website along with a wonderful credibility and reputation. Internet sites like Download.com and also Tucows.com both listing systems that have actually been carefully checked prior to being offered to everyone, along with valuable evaluations and referrals. Like a grammar school oppressor, you ought to allow the geeks to perform your research if you're resistant to accomplish it yourself.
AFTER you download and install the file-sharing software application
5. Modify file-sharing plan setups for the greatest surveillance.
It is actually amazing that, therefore, a couple of consumers of file-sharing software applications ever before trouble to evaluate the software application setups. NEVER make use of the nonpayment software application setups considering that they're generally made for the perk of the neighborhood - you typically obtain the most affordable protection, the slowest download velocity, as well as the least hunt alternatives. Ensure you modify these setups for the greatest safety and security. Do not utilize it if the program does not enable you to carry out that! Installing a P2P software application feels like welcoming unknown people right into your home - you wish they'll perform the best point, yet it is actually up to you to see to it they do not perform the inappropriate trait.
6. Avoid systems as well as various other exe data when file sharing.
It is actually alluring to download and install numerous styles of personal computer courses (especially.EXE reports); you need to be actually mindful. They may simply be actually changed to include infections. Downloading and install data that are actually prominent (i.e., submits that have actually been actually installed oftentimes, or even reports that perform a "prominent reports" checklist) can easily additionally offer troubles since some infections are actually set to alter their own headline to that of a much more preferred file. A cyberpunk may simply relabel an infection coming from "harddrivekiller.exe" to one thing much more beneficial, one thing like "PhotoShopInstaller.exe." Do not permit your piggishness to bypass your good sense (observe # 2 and also # 3).
7. Look for grown-up as well as activity documents in other places.
Grown-up documents (i.e., documents along with specific sex-related web content) and COMPUTER video game reports are actually the two more than likely forms of documents to include infections, adware, and spyware. Installing all of them ANYWHERE online is actually quite high-risk if you're certainly not knowledgeable about the resource internet site, however making an effort to receive all of them by means of P2P systems resembles participating in Russian live roulette - you could get away the bullet for some time, yet you'll get it inevitably.
DURING your use of the file-sharing software application ...
8. Look at the file dimension and also kind when you download and install a file.
P2P systems contain documents along with imprecise (as well as deliberately deceptive) file titles. You can easily find a phony file by producing certain files with a matching file dimension and style. The majority of tracks (certainly not CDs), as well as records, should not be actually better than 10 megabytes (MBs) in measurements, and also, they should not be actually exe reports, either. If you desire to install a duplicate of the Bible, however, it is actually 15MB in measurements as well, as it possesses a.EXE file expansion, it is actually perhaps an infection, certainly not a publication.
9. Read customer evaluations of each download file.
Most individuals do not discover that you may review individual customer reviews of a file just before you install it. There is actually no file sharing procedure, so I can not inform you specifically where you ought to appear. Appear for any kind of web links that claim "User Comments," "File Reviews," or even one thing comparable, as well as review what others are actually claiming regarding the installed file. They may notify you if the file is actually degrading, if it possesses an unreliable file headline or even explanation, includes an infection, and so on.
. Below is actually a recap relating to the safety and security, and lawful problems of utilization file-sharing plans and the risks established to the individual of a system and the system through which a file-sharing system is actually utilized.
You are sharing your disk drive.
Some systems that are actually used for file sharing insurance claim just discuss a certain file on your challenging drive where all the reports you prefer to install and discuss are actually held. Sometimes, these courses show up to simply discuss the file which you indicated when as a matter of fact, you might be unwittingly sharing your whole C: disk. This is mostly due to unsatisfactory computer programming and code review of the totally free software application.
You are sharing your IRS income tax declaration.
Some tax obligation courses conserve your income tax return on the regional C: disk. This could be really beneficial for some folks. The file in which the income tax system will spare your tax obligation gain was actually the very same directory in which lots of P2P systems discuss. This suggested that some citizens were actually sharing their personal income tax returns and the whole entire Internet through their file-sharing course and ignored that.
A Welcome mat for Viruses and also adware.
Infection authors have actually created earthworms and also infections particular to P2P courses. This sort of destructive information may be concealed in every file kinds as well as when the file is actually carried out, and the infection is going to corrupt your computer system and also, you might certainly not also understand that you possess an infection. This can easily lead to many problems in relation to device reliability, stability, and personal privacy. Various other harmful web content, which is occasionally mounted together with the P2P treatment, is classified as spyware or even adware. These kinds of systems are actually used to track customers' activities on the net and market items. Several of the signs of operating adware or even spyware plans on your personal computer is actually:
1. Your Personal Computer is actually operating slower than typical.
2. Your web browser possesses a brand-new toolbar that you performed certainly not purposefully set up.
3. New plan symbols reside in your device rack.
4. When you are actually certainly not surfing the Internet, Advertising home windows show up.
There is a selection of free-of-charge devices accessible on the web to find and uninstall adware and spyware. The spyware and also adware plans are actually certainly not as harmful as earthworms or even infections; they can easily imperil your efficiency and also personal privacy.
Downloading and install data that are actually preferred (i.e., submits that have actually been actually downloaded and install lots of opportunities, or even documents that are actually on a "well-liked documents" checklist) can easily likewise provide issues since some infections are actually scheduled to modify its own label to that of an even more preferred file. P2P plans are actually a total of documents along with imprecise (as well as purposefully deceptive) file titles. You can easily typically identify a phony file by producing certain the file possesses an equivalent file measurement and style. Appear for any kind of hyperlinks that state "User Comments," "File Reviews," or even one thing identical, and also review what others are actually mentioning concerning the downloaded and install file. Some plans that are actually made use for the file-sharing case to simply discuss a details directory on your tough drive where all the documents you desire to install and discuss are actually saved.

People think they can outsmart them and get results, but the truth is that they might get results on short-term basis. In the long run, it will be harmful for them.
14. Blacklisting
People think they can get by with anything on the internet. The fact is that search engines do blacklist sites that they consider spam or in violation of their conditions. 17. Individual Ranking
Most people think that search engines rank whole websites at a time, when the truth is that each webpage is ranked individually. It is possible that one of the pages on your site gets good ranking while the other does not. It is all dependent on how you optimize each page individually and how you try to promote each of them.
18. Traffic Tracking
Every search engine has its own way of tracking traffic to a certain site. If a person wants to rank his site on all possible sites then he/she has to follow the criteria provided by each and every one of them separately. Then and only then can one hope to achieve the desired ranking. If not followed individually, one may rank good on a specific engine while not on others.
19. Mobile-First Indexing
This year, Google has prioritized the mobile versions of websites for ranking determination known as Mobile-first Indexing. This means that your mobile version of pages will be the primary versions for determining your ranking. No more delaying the optimization of your mobile pages. You better get to work. If you need to stay in the game you have to update yourself with this philosophy as this is the reality now. Google has even started to move sites to the mobile-first indexing method.
20. Page Speed
Page load speed has always been an area of concern for search engines, users and developers alike. All of them always want a high quality page in the smallest amount of time possible. Page speed has always been a ranking factor. Now mobile page speed has also become a ranking factor for search engines. So, one must work on that as well.
21. Brand Factor
Brand is a ranking factor nowadays as well. Engines check the brand’s authority by checking all the properties on the site. Be it your reputation, trust, problem solving or context, all the things determine your rank in search engine results.
22. GDPR
Privacy policies and conditions have always been an area of concern for the companies and users both. Companies have been collecting personal data from users since a long time. Now, a regulation has been passed where the user has the authority to ask what data is being transmitted. Google has even launched an update where all the user data will expire after 26 months of collection. It is upon all companies to follow this regulation otherwise they will have to face a heavy fine. Moreover, personal data can also be deleted upon users’ request.

100 Things about your Mom.

Hi Chi. I’m back! All better and cured. I’m feeling like my old self again, energy and everything back. Like my doctor said today: if it’s working, don’t change it. That being said, let’s do something fun! I saw this weird list of questions and said: Game on!
1: What random stranger has had the biggest impact on your life? A Dad at a beach playing with his son. He made us made the decision to start a family.
2: What achievement are you proud of but most people would consider silly or weird? I refuse to “act my age”.
3: What period in history had the best fashion? The 50’s!
4: What silly or funny thing makes you afraid or creeps you out? Clowns.
5: How quickly do you jump to conclusions about people? I try not to, but the reality is that I get “vibes” from people, instantly. I’m never wrong, as much opportunities I give.
6: How would the world change if super heroes and super villains actually existed? I think heroes and villains DO exist.
7: What would be your strategy for surviving an apocalyptic epidemic? I already hoard medicine, movies and booze.
8: What is the most important change that should be made to your country’s education system? Equality, Empathy, Values and Gender Perspective are things that need to be taught. I also believe that a University Diploma should be mandatory. No school? Jail.
9: What is something you think you will regret in the future not starting now and what is something you already regret not starting sooner? I regret not becoming a Mom sooner. I’ll regret it most in the future.
10: What part of your culture are you most and least proud of?
Proud of our strength of character. Least proud of living in a status quo.
11: What's the worst and best thing about being female? Best thing is having a baby, carrying it inside your body. That experience is wonderful. The worst is definitively the inequality, how people treat you different in many ways and what they expect on how you “should behave”. I also believe there are many double standards when it comes to us.
12: If you could put your brain in a robot and live indefinitely, would you? Not for a gazillion dollars.
13: If you could replace the handshake as a greeting, what interesting new greeting would you replace it with? High fives are awesome.
14: Who’s the worst guest you’ve had in your house and what did they do? I’m glad to report that I never let people that I don’t truly trust or know at my house.
15: When does time pass fastest for you and when does it pass the slowest? Fastest: when I have a lot of work and a close deadline. Slowest: when I had to come up with advertising campaigns. I HATED starting on a presentation with all the passion in the world until I had an idea that worked. Then, it just was a breeze. Until that jackpot happens, time is torture.
16: What always sounds like a good idea at the time but rarely is? Telling someone the truth. Sometimes it just turns out that they can’t handle or understand it. Another great one? Getting drunk and knowing that no one is going to take care of the baby next morning. Huge mistake.
17: Are humans fundamentally different than animals? If so, what makes us different? We’re very much alike, I realized it after I gave birth. I just think we have the burden of emotions and logic to deal with, that’s all. I envy them: I’d love to function just on instincts!
18: What pictures or paintings have had a big impact on you? Guernica inspired me to paint. The Marilyn Diptych inspired me to design. At the Moulin Rouge is one of my favorites, just because.
19: What movie or book character are you most similar to? That’s a tough one. I identify a lot (with absolutely no clue of why) with Mia Wallace’s lust for life and her disregard for rules; Marla Singer’s I don’t care attitude and confusion. I’m also a mix of Santino and Michael Corleone when I’m either strategizing or just extremely angry.
20: You can broadcast one sentence to every TV channel and radio in the world and have it translated to each country’s language. What sentence do you say? “What doesn’t offend you might offend someone else. Calm down and let people do and say what they want.”
21: What fact are you really surprised that more people don't know about? That research does not mean that you trust instantly whatever you find online. Reliable sources exist for a reason.
22: What are you completely over and done with? Putting the well-being of others before mine.
23: What memory do you just keep going back to?
It depends on the day.
24: What’s the most immature thing someone can do? I believe that making a scene in public is just sign that you are emotionally and socially immature. From treating strangers badly for a stupid reason to arguing with your significant other in front of anybody is just a sign that you’re the problem.
25: What are you most passionate about and what do you wish you were more passionate about? Reading and writing.
26: What’s the best comeback you’ve ever heard?
“I’m growing a human inside me, what’s your excuse?” I said that. :P
27: Who haven’t you seen or talked to in a long time and hope they are doing okay? With Facebook that stopped happening years ago. I actually miss that feeling of wondering how my friends are. Although, there is one friend from college that disappeared. I sometimes wonder what happened.
28: Where is the last place you would ever go? If by last this means “and then you can die”, Tibet. I can’t fathom thinking about a place in this world not worthy about visiting.
29: What’s something that you’ve never been able to do well? Math and control myself when I am beyond furious.
30: Who is the humblest person you know?
Any person who will do something for free just to help another human being.
31: What is the silliest reason someone you've known has completely lost it? The stuff people write online.
32: What is quite possibly the most annoying thing ever? People who judge others on based on what they wear, own, drive or live in. I also am starting to despise people who post every single goddamn second on social media. My social media algebra is simple: entertain, yes; Report, no.

99: What weird childhood fear do you still kind of hold on to? Big waves.

Digital Media in 2019
Welcome back to my blog, lovelies!~ As Tumblr dies out, and people cling on to its last dying flame, I am back with another school project to speak about:
D i g i t a l M e d i a i n 2 0 1 9
I’ll focusing on broadband, mobile evolution, social media being used for governance and politics (the good and bad sides). At the end, I might even show a lil’ survey I did in my class for those who use Smartphones (if i get the chance, of course).
Now, let’s dive in!
The Modern Wonders Of Broadband
Before we can dive into this blog and talk about how it’s used nowadays, we must understand the core of this section of the conversation; what exactly is broadband?
Broadband is a high-capacity transmission technique using a wide range of frequencies, which enables a large number of messages to be communicated simultaneously. Or in commoner terms, ‘a high speed connection to the internet.’
Today, broadband is mainly used for that sweet, sweet, high-speed, super sonic wifi. It’s also used for Cable TV, but be honest; most people don’t exactly watch Cable anymore. . .do we?
But that’s besides the point, of course.
The only thing that I can truly see is that broadband is much better and faster than whatever that old dial-up internet was.
Different types of broadband
DSL
The DSL (or Digital Subscriber Line) internet service makes its connection by utilizing unused telephone wires that cause no interruption to your telephone service.
The speed you experience with a DSL connection varies with your distance from the switching station. Your speed will be slower the further away you are and faster the closer you are to the switching station and this may be a deciding factor when you attempt to select between a DSL line and a cable connection.
Cable
Ah, Cable. Something that I don’t watch anymore but is still pretty important nowadays.
*ahem*
Anyway.
The broadband cable connection is provided by the local cable TV provider. Here, the cable Internet connection speed varies with the number of users on the service at a specific point in time.
Given a specific geographical area, users of the broadband cable service share the connection bandwidth which slows the speed the more users are on the system. This will occur at the peak times for example late in the evenings after the work day is over when many people will be accessing the Internet.
Somewhat misleadingly, often the cable company would estimate connection speeds that are based on the thinking that you are using the service.
But that is clearly not the case.
No-one:
Cable Companies:
Fibre-Optic
The newest broadband service is fiber-optic, which is the fastest Internet connection thus far. Plus, it has a really cool ring to the name.
However, this type of Internet service is still in its infancy as its service areas are quite limited and because the laying down of the fiber-optic cable takes a while to complete. Wherever it is available, the cost not only competes with that of DSL and cable, but it provides a much faster connection than both of those services.
And it even LOOKS cool, too!
Satellite
The last and slowest broadband service is provided by satellite. Although this is a good replacement for dial-up for those people living in remote rural areas, the installation costs are quite high, but the ongoing monthly charges are competitive to both cable and DSL.
Can’t remember the last time I saw a proper satellite still in use.
Moving onto the next sub-topic, here are:
Caribbean Broadband Companies
In the Caribbean, there are 2 companies that I know are region-wide, and provide broadband services.
First up, Digicel.
Digicel is a mobile phone network provider operating in 33 markets across the Caribbean, Central America, and Oceania regions.
The company is owned by the Irish billionaire by the name Denis O'Brien, is incorporated in Bermuda, and it’s headquarters is down here in Kingston, Jamaica. It has about 14 million wireless users.
Quite a bit of people, huh?
They have a service which is known as Digicel 4G Broadband. Powered by WiMax technology, it speeds up to 6 Mbps for uploads.
You can stream movies, play games and video chat online to your heart’s content.
The prices for the pre-paid 4G ranges from JMD$350 to JMD$3000, for 1 day, 3 to 14 days, or even an entire month (30 days).
They even go as far as to supply fibre WiFi (which I’m just finding out as I edit this blog).
From download speeds of 50Mbps to 400Mbps, and upload speeds from 25Mbps to 200Mbps, and prices ranging from JMD$4699 to JMD$15,499, this is the type of high-speed WiFi I’d want for my own house.
I. . .I. . .don’t need it, I swear.
Second up is Flow!
Under the parent company of Cable and Wireless, Flow is a trade name used to market cable television, internet, telephone, and wireless services provided by the company.
They provide a broadband service from 40 mbps for downloads up to 100mbps for downloads, and a constant of 5mbps for uploads, ranging from JMD$4,999 to JMD$12,299 (+GCT).
Their best offerings come in bundle packages, where they offer Cable, phone services, and internet packages in one!
Now that we’re done with the Broadband section of this blog, let’s move on to……..
The Evolution of Mobile Devices!
The following informational screenshots are all from Tigermobiles.com, where they speak about the evolution of mobile devices/phones for over 30 years:

So much progress. I’m proud.
Now onto the next topic!
Social Media Governance and Politics
Firstly governance.
The main point that I will focus on here is Political Participation.
Governments have provided formal online channels for citizens to report crime, comment on policy, or petition for change. This is honestly a great concept as everything that is sent would be kept secure, and it would be almost certain that your voice would be heard.
Unfortunately, however, this is restricted to a small elite of internet users, and government websites are not popular. The citizens often use social media to organize activism and protests.
For example:
The ‘Jamaica House Petition’ is a governmental page that is linked to the office of the Prime Minister. This page would allow you to create a petition that would allow you to engage the Prime Minister in an issue that you wish to address. If you gather 15,000 signatures in 40 days, your petition is reviewed, and if it complies with agreed standards, the Office of the Prime Minister will issue it as an official response.
It’s a great concept and all, and it would be even better if there were actually any petitions there for anyone to sign.
Anywho, moving onto Politics!
Yay! My excitement is paramount!
This gif perfectly accentuates my overflowing excitement. :3
So!
Especially in America, Social Media has changed the way that politics works.
With the use of Social Media in politics, it is now:
Reaching out to multiple people in the world, regardless of the fact that you may or may not live in their country.
Advertising without actually paying for anything at all.
Message Tailoring
Feedback
The main drawback, though, is that there is tons upon tons upon tons of controversy. Depending on what’s being sent on can have a huge effect on how the world views certain candidates.
A perfect example would be the one, the only, the very ‘loved’. . .
Donald Trump
Oops, wrong picture
Much worse.
Let’s go through some memorable gems that are known as his nice array of tweets.
This last one here personally makes me laugh, because he basically predicted his own leadership.
“Maybe I should check his account for myself instead of looking at Top 20’s onli- oh wait.”
“Right, right, I forgot.”
As we all progress further on in 2019 and beyond, I’m sure other things will come into light as we continue to progress, right? Yep, yep. Our use of media will evolve, alongside our memes.
Thanks for reading my blog once again, babes!~ I’ll be editing the results to my survey later if I can~.
Bye!~
#back at it again with the schoolwork#i need to make that survey#can i have uhhhh good grades plz#digital media#classwork

One of the most common mistakes when running a Spectrum Cable Speed Test is to run the test over WiFi – this is not a true measure of your Internet speed! Do you pay for Spectrum Cable Gigabit Fiber? It’s entirely possible the reason your Spectrum Cable Internet is slow is because your WiFi hardware can’t actually support the high speeds.
Is your internet fast enough? Test internet speeds at your location with a single click.

Spectrum Internet
We like the simplicity of selecting an Internet plan with Spectrum—there are just three plans, and all of them are fast.
The three plans Spectrum offers are Spectrum Internet®, up to 100 Mpbs (wireless speeds may vary) for $49.99 per month for 12 months. Spectrum Internet Ultra with speeds up to 400 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $69.99 per month for 12 months. And Spectrum Internet Gig with speeds up to 940 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $109.99 a month for 12 months.
Actual speeds vary by location. For example, in Carlsbad, California, the average download speed is 82 Mbps, but in Helena, Montana, it’s 32.71 Mbps.
Top advertised download speed:
Up to 940 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary)

Spectrum doesn’t play around with “bargain” slow speed plans that are sure to disappoint anyone living in the twenty-first century. The slowest plan offered by Spectrum whizzes along at speeds up to 100 Mbps, which is ample speed for a household of three to four people to stream video on multiple devices. Hopping up to even faster speeds up to 100 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $49.99 per month for 12 months, Spectrum gives you more bandwidth for gaming and faster file uploads and downloads.
In some areas of the country, Spectrum offers speeds up to 940 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $109.99 a month for 12 months. In other places, up to 100 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $49.99 a month for 12 months is the fastest available. That’s because Spectrum uses cable infrastructure originally installed by three different telecommunications companies to deliver cable internet to 41 states.
Spectrum’s parent company—Charter Communications—bought out two other telecommunications companies (Bright House Networks and Time Warner Cable) and combined them to create the third-largest telecommunications company in the US—Spectrum. In some areas, the infrastructure is built to enable faster connection speeds, which is why there are different Spectrum speeds available across the country.
Spectrum Mobile broadband
Spectrum Mobile utilizes the most reliable 4G LTE network, which we assume is Verizon. Connection speeds for 4G data vary based on network congestion and your proximity to cell phone towers. Verizon’s 4G LTE data averages speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps, with upload speeds topping out around 5 Mbps. That’s usually fast enough to watch YouTube videos and browse the web while you’re sitting on the train during your morning commute. (Just keep those earbuds handy.)
Plus, if you’re a Spectrum Mobile customer, you’ll also have access to Spectrum Internet’s network of WiFi hotspots, since Spectrum Mobile is only available to current Internet customers. You can use these WiFi hotspots around the city to keep data usage low on your phone.
With Spectrum Mobile, you can pay for data by the Gig ($14/GB) or pay for an unlimited data plan ($45 per line). By-the-Gig data can be shared with other phones you have on your plan.
As far as data speeds go, keep in mind that if you opt for the Unlimited plan, you will experience reduced data speed after the monthly 20 GB threshold.
Enter your zip to get speeds and providers available for your area.
AT&T vs. Spectrum
AT&T has a wider range of plans (from 5 Mbps to 1,000 Mbps), but Spectrum’s pricing on midrange plans (around 100 Mbps) is a little lower than AT&T’s.
Xfinity vs. Spectrum
Although a little pricey, Xfinity has a better WiFi network and the fastest available speeds. Spectrum has unlimited data, which comes in handy if you like streaming video.
CenturyLink vs. Spectrum
Both CenturyLink and Spectrum Internet are no contract, although prices do go up for Spectrum after the first year. But Spectrum gets better ratings for customer service.
Internet Speed Recommendations
The speed you need depends on what you like to do online and how many people use your connection. The more folks in your household, the more bandwidth you’ll need.

About our Spectrum Internet speed test
Our Spectrum Internet speed test will show you how fast your Internet is actually clipping along—which might be different from the advertised speeds. By connecting to servers near you, our speed test gives you the most accurate results possible.
Internet speeds vary throughout the day, so make sure you try the speed test during peak and off-peak hours to get a good idea of how well your Internet is performing. You can also test your WiFi from different rooms in your house to determine where you have the strongest signal. If you have dead zones, adjusting the location of your router/modem can help.
How does the Spectrum Internet speed test work?
An Internet speed test will show your actual connection speed in megabits per second (Mbps).
The Spectrum Internet speed test will prompt your browser to attempt to download a test (or dummy) file. The speed test will keep track of how long it takes for your computer to download this file. Don’t worry—the file is harmless. This size of the file is then divided by the download time to calculate your download speed in megabits per second (Mbps).
Next, the speed test switches things around to upload the same file, calculating how long it takes. The file size is then divided by the upload time to calculate your upload speed.
Your latency is measured in the test as well. Latency is also known as lag time, and a high number is a bad thing here, folks. To test for latency, a signal known as a ping is sent from your computer to your internet server, which then boomerangs back to your computer. The faster data can travel, the lower your latency. The longer it takes for a ping to travel this distance, the higher your latency score is. Low latency scores of 20 ms to 40 ms (milliseconds) is fantastic. A high latency (over 70 ms) can give you noticeable delays when you’re doing things like playing games online.
Keep in mind that advertised speeds are listed as “up to” and are not a promise of actual speed. Still, you should be getting close to the speed you’re paying for most of the time. If not, contact Spectrum and let them know.
For the best results, we recommend using a wired connection to your internet (with an Ethernet cable). Then try it on your WiFi. If there’s a big difference, you might have problems with your router/modem.
If you aren’t getting the speed you need, try resetting your modem. If that doesn’t work, you can contact Spectrum about it. And if you still can’t get the speeds you need, it’s easy to cancel Spectrum and switch to another provider since Spectrum doesn’t have contracts. But keep in mind that a new provider will probably charge an installation fee, though, and may require a contract.
Spectrum Internet speed FAQ
How fast are Spectrum Internet speeds?
Spectrum Internet speed packages vary based on your location. In some cities, there are three plans, up to 100 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $49.99 a month for 12 months, up to 400 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $69.99 a month for 12 months and 940 Mbps (wireless speeds may vary) for $109.99 a month for 12 months.
According to our data, three of the five cities with the fastest Spectrum Internet connections are located in the DFW (Dallas–Fort Worth) area in Texas, with two others located in Southern California and Long Island, New York.
The slowest Spectrum Internet service is in Montana, Idaho, Nebraska, western New York, and Lexington, South Carolina. The slowest Spectrum speed we’ve seen come through our test is about 36 Mbps, while the fastest hit 82 Mbps. That’s not to say Spectrum can’t get faster than that—we just haven’t had any Spectrum Gig customers use our test yet.
Does Spectrum offer cable TV with no contract?
Yes, Spectrum offers no contract cable TV service. Spectrum TV packages range in price from $44.99 to $104.99 per month. Spectrum offers Double and Triple Play bundles with Internet, mobile phone plans, and home phone (landline) service.
Spectrum also offers a streaming TV service called TV Essentials for $14.99 per month. Rather than delivering content through cable boxes, TV Essentials streams live TV content to your Internet-connected device. Since there’s no setup fee, it’s easy to cancel or add service anytime.
TV Essentials has over 60 basic channels like A&E, Comedy Central, Discovery, Animal Planet, BBC America, Hallmark, and more. You can’t get premium channels like HBO® or STARZ®, but it’s a great bargain package for Spectrum Internet customers who want a little live TV to go along with their Netflix or Hulu account.
Spectrum Internet® Speeds and Speedtest FAQs
The Spectrum Internet® speeds shown in graphs above are based on hundreds of thousands of user speed tests. These speed tests are powered by M-Labs, which is the speed test database integrated into BroadbandNow and Google search results.
Averages shown tend to be lower than real-world experience, since users often run speed tests to diagnose WiFi issues. When a subscriber’s WiFi router is not functioning properly, it can result in very low speed test output — however, this is caused by a faulty WiFi unit, not the actual Internet connection.
If you are testing a Spectrum connection and getting results below 10 Mbps, try resetting your router and running the test again. In many cases, low Spectrum speeds are actually caused by modem or router issues, rather than the Internet connection itself.
Spectrum Internet® Speed Tiers
Spectrum Internet® speeds come in three flavors: Standard, Ultra, and Gig.
Spectrum Speed TierDownload SpeedUpload speedStandard Internet60-200 Mbps10 MbpsUltra Internet300-400 Mbps20 MbpsGig Internet940 Mbps35 Mbps
Most customers use the “Standard” Internet plan, since it has more than enough download speed to handle streaming Netflix, Youtube, and other common uses.
Speeds are much faster on Spectrum’s Gig and Ultra plans. That said, only large families, techies, and “pro” users should pay the extra money for these plans. Most users will be happy with Spectrum’s Internet speeds on the “Standard” plan.
Spectrum Download Speeds
The speed advertised for Spectrum’s plans is the download speed. Spectrum’s download speeds are generally much faster than their download speeds. This is because cable Internet has limited bandwidth for upload speed, and most users need to download much more content than they upload. For users who want to stream video, having a strong download speed is most important. Spectrum’s download speeds are in the 60–1,000 Mbps range.
Spectrum Upload Speeds
Spectrum’s upload speeds tend to be much lower than their download speeds. They will be higher on Ultra and Gig plan, but don’t go much beyond 35 Mbps. Most customers do not rely on upload speed for much, and even 10 Mbps is enough to handle upload needs like Skype video and photo sharing.
Internet Speed Test
Spectrum speeds vs Fiber Speeds
Spectrum Speed Test Columbus Ohio
The main difference between Spectrum’s cable Internet and “fiber” providers like Verizon Fios is the upload speeds. Spectrum is an “asymmetrical” provider, meaning that the download speed is much faster than the upload speed. Fiber providers offer “symmetrical” service, which has just as much upload speed as download speed.
Spectrum Speeds in Context
Check Spectrum Internet Speeds
Spectrum’s speeds are faster than most other cable providers. They have been investing heavily in upgrading and expanding their hybrid fiber-coaxial cable network. By using the latest DOCSIS 3.1 technology, Spectrum is able to deliver gigabit download speeds over copper cable wires.
