Once again Holmes doing good detective work by looking into the wife's background and any possibility of her papers being available.

However both he and Munroe are jumping to conclusions due to their absolute lack of information about America: suffice to say that if, as I think, this takes place somewhere in 1883-1885, Mrs. Munroe has a perfect right to be frantic about the continued safety of her mixed-race child, especially if her husband did not actually die of yellow fever.

Not that she wouldn't have cause for concern at any other time, but a rich black man in the south in the late 1870's or early 1880's is going to have an extremely complicated life, due to the backlash against reconstruction and the ongoing virulent racism.

Illegal but worth it - this sentiment is going to come up again, but in a case where it will actually be warranted.

The language regarding little miss Lucy is rough and the actions of Holmes and Watson are hasty, but this actually is more heartwarming with context and a concrete date. Yes, the American civil war was over almost twenty years ago, but it, and the previous existence of slavery, would have shaped John Hebron's entire life whether he was born free or not.

Although Mrs Munroe expresses wishes that her daughter were less black, there is the fact that life might be easier for her if she was to mitigate it. Also, although at the time of publication it was surely easy to read Mrs. Munroe's wishes as focused on her daughter's future, there's definitely some unexamined racism in there too. After all, you can love someone and still have an unconscious bias against other members of their demographic.

Aiden provides a lot of people in his village with meat (as a village’s hunter does) but by far his favorite customer is Greta. Greta is an elderly woman that lives alone and has pretty much declared herself Aiden’s surrogate grandma (since he doesn’t have one).

She always invites him in for tea or dinner, pats his cheek when she thanks him for his delivery and gifts him berries that grow on her garden.

Aiden always gives her the best prey he got that day and stays extra long when he delivers it to her so that she won’t be so lonely. He enjoys her company a lot and loves to listen to her stories of old times and faeries.

His favorite story of hers is that of the wild hunt, a group of fae hunters that once upon a time defeated the dangerous wood demons (and other creatures). Once a year during a festival they allow a couple humans to join their hunt, but they only accept the most skilled of mortals.

Greta always tells him she thinks Aiden is worthy to hunt among them. Aiden blushes every time and tells her that’s not true, but she insists.

Someone needs to do an analysis on the way the Kung Fu Panda movies use old-fashioned vs. modern language ("Panda we meet at last"/"Hey how's it going") and old-fashioned vs. modern settings (forbidden-city-esque palaces/modern-ish Chinese restaurant) to indicate class differences in their characters, and how those class differences create underlying tensions and misunderstandings.

Never will I stop with the steadfast notion that folks in the DPXDC fandom should interact with at least some form of canon DC media.

There are comics, tv shows, radio dramas both old and new, podcasts, movies, magazines, so much shit that intentionally avoiding the media is simply preventing yourself from spawning new ideas and gaining a new appreciation for a fandom that you’re already in.

The Superman Radio Show has episodes 11 minutes long. A lot of the TV shows don’t have episodes that surpass 30 minutes and most are nearly fully clipped on the official DC YouTube channel. The amount of fan made motion comics is astounding. The amount of fanmade animations is equally as incredible.

These two scenes mean so much to me. Logan really believed that his purpose will be fulfilled only if he dies a hero and Wade didn't want to let him die. When they saved the world and survived, Logan wanted to walk away from Wade but Wade asked him to stay. Logan thought that he isn't going to get a happy ending and probably that he doesn't deserve one but Wade didn't want to lose him. Imagine how Logan felt, after so many years of being alone, to finally have a friend who actually cares about him and wants him to be happy.
