Ants - Ants, due to their strength in numbers, are seen as very good friends and an example as to why working in teams in a good thing. A single ant can hardly move anything, but an entire team of ants can move huge pieces of food! The Ant- prefix is supposed to inspire the thought of a cat who is a team player, someone who works well with others. The ancient cat Antcloud of Riverclan, Cloudberry's brother, was known as a friendly cat to all. Antpelt's mother named him Antkit in hopes he'd make lots of friends...

Ladybugs - These little critters are actually associated heavily with motherhood! It is said that if a pregnant Queen sees a ladybug with many spots, the queen will have many kittens! If the ladybug does not have many spots, they will not have many kittens. Superstitious cats believe in it, like Brightheart, where cats who don't, like Cloudtail, tend to just think they're pretty. Ladybug is a very, very rare prefix, seen in ancient times with an underaged Shadowclan apprentice, Ladybugpaw. He is demoted back to Ladybugkit, and his future name was Ladybugfur.

Praying Mantis - These tough bugs (seriously I'm pretty sure fear is a foreign concept to these things) are seen pretty differently by each Clan. To Shadowclan, they are a snack, albeit a more bizarre one, often paired with roasted poultry and spicy Juniper berries. To Riverclan, they're a sign that the meadow in their Lake territory is healthy! Before that, they were mysterious, seen more like spirits than anything, and a sign that Starclan was watching the land by bringing its grass blades to life. To Windclan, they are valued for their resilience, and their willingness to battle despite size... It's relatable to them! If Windclan had movies, they'd be the underdog hero.

Grasshoppers - Snacks! Food! Yummy! Favorite food of Featherpelt, who loves frying some up and dipping them in blood gravy. Oh yeah... We use cooking too, but MUCH more recent in Clan history! Riverclan turns up their noses though, they refuse to eat them, but Shadowclan cats will slather them in vinegar. Grasshopper in general are associated with an old story, one that only Skyclan knows now from their old days. Their very first leader learned how to jump from a large Grasshopper, but when it tried to take her place as leader of Skyclan, she jumped high and swatted it off the high branch, breaking it into lots of little Grasshopper babies. Grasshoppers now have no idea what happened, but catching them is still a point of pride!

Snails (I know they're not bugs but you try telling cats that) - Snails! Their shells are collectible, and sometimes a very hot commodity in Shadowclan and Skyclan! There are stories of giant snails that cats can ride the shells of, and paint with pigments, meaning little painted shells are worth even MORE. The name Snail is meant to inspire peace and thoughtfulness.

Clams/Muscles - Riverclan food! Lots of Riverclan Cats learn to dive down into the river and part of the ocean when they take trips down there, all with the hopes to grab some yummy creature (and hopefully find a pearl!). Cats guard the ones they catch, and they're heavily prized for the possibility that they may hold a pearl. There are Legends about hunting parties that managed to save Riverclan from starting to death by diving down into the depths of the river to grab lots of them. Part of Riverclan mythology is the legend of a gigantic clam that resides in the river that an ancient Leopardclan warrior stashed a giant rainbow coloured pearl inside of to guard...

Crabs (also yes I know) - Beach bugs! A very lovely treat that cats will go to Sundrown Place to get along with salt! Just make sure to bring a basket, so you don't get pinched! Berrynose finds this one out the hard way. They're a delightful food and they're shells and pincers are often kept and traded! Riverclan has now become the lovers of all seafood, and will trade you whatever you like in return for a big crab.

Flies - Flighty around others, but brave enough to withstand sickness, often mate with those huge roaring dragons in the sky! Helpful as well, they point out sick prey or rotting meat. Cherryfall named Flykit the way she did because she feels that they're incredibly important, and wanted her tiny daughter to feel special. Flystar of Skyclan was Honor Titled the name Fly- for their ability to pick our bad prey, saving the Clan from a major outbreak during a very dark time when every other Clan was experiencing a Plague.

Dragonflies - Seen as the gorgeous offspring between flies and Dragons (airplanes) due to their shape, they're associated with grace, beauty, still water, and growing plants. There are however, stories of Dragonflies managing to become massive beasts, joining their dragon parent in the sky... Dragonfly from the Kin gets a huge reputation boost for being cool because of it.

Beetles - Icewing's favorite creature, if you let her, she'll talk your ear off about how pretty they are, their lovely smooth shells, how much she loves the ones with horns... All that. They are seen as very beautiful by the Clans, and I'm pretty sure some apprentices keep beetles in little hideouts to watch them... Or make the horned ones fight because kids will be kids. Icewing and Mintwhisker were big fans of beetle fights, and named Beetlewhisker after the beetles they bonded over as apprentices.

Worms - Lot of different opinions! Though, Thunderclan has a very very sore spot concerning worms. You'll have to forgive them, they're not the type to let things go. Since the move to the lake, things have gotten better, but stories about The Great Hunger are still cause for many cats to very much dislike worms. They'll happily trade them off to Riverclan. Bait in exchange for duck feathers and the occasional egg.

Speaking of, Riverclan LOVE worms. Not to eat, no, but for bait! Not many fish can resist a wiggly worm!

To Windclan, they're kinda seen as annoying. I'm borrowing Tunnelbuns from Bonefall, and a worm getting into your tunnelbun is the WORST.

For Shadowclan, many apprentices try and catch them to put them in frog-filled areas to fatten up frogs for an easier future catch. Doesn't always work, but it keeps them entertained and it's fun to watch!

Crickets - The snack you dare your friends to try. Cool! Weird! A bug that SINGS! Myths linger about a cricket that managed to learn to speak, and gave a sign from Starclan to an old Lionclan cat to save his leader. Cricket songs are enjoyed heavily, and Crickets going quiet is cause for deep concern. It happens right before the Great Battle. The silence is still a... Tough to talk about moment.

Spiders - Skyclan and The Forest Four have very different views!

To the Forest Four, Spiders have a bit of a tough rep. They're eeire, but the cobwebs they make are so, so useful. Plenty of cats have a fear of spiders, such as Cloudtail, Owlwhisker, and Mossyfoot. They're seen as very pragmatic, and Spiderleg was named for his very spider-y body, but also his will to live, and his strength, especially when he was a tiny kitten, and needed his extra leg amputated due to the pain it was causing.

To Skyclan: A tragic symbol of the final leader of old Skyclan. Spiderstar made the final call, like a dying mother spider, to cast off remaining cats of Skyclan out into the Twolegplace. They are seen as beautiful, intelligent, and protective. Spiderstar is often called upon for a blessing when a cat goes on a quest, in hopes they will still come home afterwards. Pebbleshine frequently prays to her, as does Violetshine. They both love spiders as a result.

Ticks - Bad! Awful! Makes cats sick! Hurts and itches! These things caused a terrible Plague during the Homebrew story Wishstar's Abyss, and she used the cover of the sickness to poison the current leader. They need to be dealt with ASAP. Removed with prey bones or carved sticks, mouse bile is a Shadowclan exclusive seasoning once cooking is discovered.

Bees - Seen as less of a threat than their Wasp counterparts, but still creatures to be a bit weary about! They do not take kindly to stealing. The Legend of The Bee is very similar to the old myth in our world about them! A large bee presented Starclan with sweet honey, and Starclan was thankful. When Starclan asked the bee how she managed to make enough to share with everyone, the bee laughed and stated she would attack anyone who tried, that Starclan cats were lucky to have gotten a taste. Starclan cursed the bee, while she was given an incredible weapon to defend herself, it would kill her if used. Since you're able to harvest from bees without getting stung (so long as you remain calm) the Bee name is often associated with quieter, more strategic cats.

Bumblebees - These are seen as SIMILAR to bees, but not quite! They do still sting, but how could something so differently shaped and so very fuzzy be the actual same thing? They're also called Bumbles, making Bumble a suitable prefix (not that it wasn't already from Bumblestripe!) Shadowclan celebrates a Bumblebee Festival, where many Pollen rich flowers are gathered and placed in the middle of camp to attract bumbles near the end of Greenleaf!

Wasps/Hornets - These are actually seen as the same thing! Just different ranking. Since it's known that bees swarm, the Clan cats see these as higher ranked bees. Think apprentices vs warriors. Same THING, different rank. Waspwhisker's name is an indication of his strength in battle (and in being a good tracker, hence the suffix).

Very observant, and is smart, even though he has trouble with tone and vocal expression, he can see right through lies and deceit in Royal Social gatherings.

Silas does not speak much to other people who aren't his partner. But Shows obsessive and protective Behavior to the person he is attracted to, so much so he's completely willing to do and provide them with everything they want.

He wants to please his partner with anything and everything he can offer, if not working he uses manipulation to make his partner pity and stay with him. As a last resort getting physical is not of the table.

Other than that he's sweet and gentle with his partner.

Spoiled. Somewhat expect everything to be handed to him. Surprisingly he has a very naive way of thinking about relationships. Silas is very family-oriented, hoping for a family of his own one day.

Some higher power made me make this post so bear with me for a second.

Theorem:

Gary , what most people consider Spongebob's pet snail , is the same being as kilgharrah, the basement lizard from bbc merlin. Also Garygotcake.

Proof:

Let's start by giving the definition of the phrase "got cake". Urban Dictionary, world's most trusted source when it comes to cursed slang terms defines it as follows:

So what we have to examine is whether Gary has a nice ass or not.

Let's start with the most famous evidence of that fact:

What we see here is a canonical picture of Gary's ass. But the question still remains: Is that ass "nice"?

Thus, it is only fair to conclude , that not only Garygotcake but that Gary's ass is aesthetically pleasing to the eye of the average human being. Gary's cake is one of the finest cakes that ever existed and that's just a fact.

But I am not done just yet. I need to prove to you that the green inspirational quote from merlin and Gary are the same being.

Well, lets take a look at some of the things that we know from the Spongebob show and our general pop culture knowledge.

In the dream episode of the Spongebob Show Bob , while he is asleep, visits Gary's dream. Then, through Bob's eyes, we see that Gary is not just a dumb snail but a superior being with a huge mind palace that seems to have gathered all the knowledge available in the world. The season 1 episode in question is called "Sleepy Time" for anyone who wishes to check it out. I am leaving this pic of dream Gary here ,just to give you an idea of what I am talking about.

In the "SB-129" episode form the 1st season of the SpongeBob SquarePants show Squidward accidentally freezes himself and ends up 2000 years into the future and has to use a time machine to come back to his own timeline. So we deduce that not only time travel is possible but there's a functioning time machine somewhere in bikini bottom.

In the " Chatterbox Gary" episode from season 11, Bob buys Gary a meow-translator. This is one of the first thing that Gary says when he is able to be understood in english :

My last point is that Kilgary is green and if there's one thing that the "Kissing the coronavirus" book by M.J. Edwards taught us is that green=hot=coronavirus. So it is obvious that kilgary must have been infected by the virus at some point in his life.

So we have one super smart snail which dreams of World Domination and has an easy access to a time machine and a glorified serpent that lives under camelot's palace and must have been infected by a virus that wont appear for another 1500 years.

So the conclusion is simple:

Gary, the snail, got tired of his life as SpongeBob's servant so he decided to go and see the world. He took Squidward's time machine with him but he didn't use it immediately. Unfortunately for him ,his travels made him end up in Dr Ashingtonford's lab where he was used as a test subject and got infected with the deadly virus. He felt the virus changing his body so he decided to use the time machine and travel into the past where he wouldn't be treated like a lab rat anymore. He traveled 2000 years back , changed his name into Kilgharrah and became the first dragon to ever existed. Being the evil genius that he is , he mutated more snails into dragons and put forward his word domination plan until Uther came , killed all the other dragons and captured Gary in the dungeons.

Xichen seemed to change hes serene Tone for a more Melancholy one looking at one spefic Slug person with two Juniors one was a Slug like Him and other completely human . The Slug Junior seemed to have done something wrong as he was being pulled the older slug .

- Wen  wanted  to  Assert  Dominance   . Basically  in an Archery match the sects  have  every year  in Wen sect  no body  from  Wen  sect came in the top 4   Lan  Wangji came in  4th despite  throwing the competion  halfway  ,He's  brother Xichen  came in  second ,Jin Zixaun was third  and in first was JC's Adopted Brother Wei Wuxian  .  This  made Wen worry  

- The  first thing that Wen  did was   attack the  cloud recesses of Gusu Lan  .However Wen   didn't just  stop at forcing them  to   burn the place  down  not  they did something worse after they had burned the  Cloud recesses  they then  release  a  Large amount of   Parasitic Slugs on  the  poor sect  and since  thier Home was burned they had no where to  go , since Wangji 's Leg was  broken  and everyone  left to  run  Wangji   was  infected more severely than most of the  sect .

- However  Lan sect was Surprisingly resistance. to  Changes these Parasitic  were  making to thier  bodies and  Lasted a long while until  Xichen came back  with allies .Where Qiren  inform him of the  state  Gusu Lan was in , If the slugs weren't removed they'd all sex addicted feral  frankly ugly eldritch Slug creatures  known as Deformers  and says some have already transformed and left the sect in search of  what ever  unfortunate  partner they can get thier hands on. 

- Luckily, the Order of the Chief god heard the Plight of  the sects  fighting  against Wen's sect and thier healer/doctors could help them  . Not really ...the order of the chief god are kinda  horrible   people when it comes to  monsters  including the Chief god  himself and When Xichen  asks for  help removing  parasitic monsterizating slugs  from members of his sect most healers/ Doctors  from  the  order  turned him down saying Gusu  Lan was a lost cause and Xichen couldn't  get  help  from healer's or doctors from the area even with help of Jin Guangyao and  Nie Mingjue asking  around when they weren't  fighting  no one would take the  Job  as it would require a skilled surgeon and Gusu Lan's resitiance to the  change  was dwiddling .

-  Xichen  started to notice  that his own brother  would sometimes  attack him  in a brief feral Lust fuel rages before  snapping out it as if Wangji couldn't discern Xichen  as  his brother .

- Xichen was getting desperate he  didn't want  anymore of his Sect to become these  feral minded sex fuel Monsters that barely any remembered  who  they were. Even if they did win the Sunshot campaign , Wen would still have the last laugh .Xichen  even  consider  infecting himself with the slugs  so that  he'd aleast be able suffer with his sect  in thier final moments of being human and being capable of  having  rational  thought .Even though Jin Guangyao and Mingjue protested him doing this  they both knew thier was no point  Xichen was going  to go down with his  ship . “That was until  a strange man  who was eating  cake at the other   table  put down his  fork  he seemed to  have  be from Zipangu“ Xichen countined his Story ”however Mingjue got  more defensive when  he saw the strange  belt  around his waist the man  was a Masked Rider one the orders many  Hero's several of whom help us out in the fights against Wen. “

- However this rider  stated that he  meant no harm as he hand over heard Xichen's  plight about  the parasitic slugs and give the men the hard  truth ,The order  doesn't operate on people  with these Parasitic  slugs inside them because Removing  doesn't prevent people from  becoming  monsters.But it dose save thier ability to  think rationally  though they become  an entirely different  monster from a deformer .

- The rider then  said  He'd offer to help as he's known through the order as being a Master surgeon able  operate on any organ. Xichen accepted his  offer  with  tears of joy and hope it wasn't to late to save  his brother  and Uncle .

The Rider called his  two female  assistances  over  and told them they  were headed to Gusu lan's Section of the battle field and then to  the cloud recesses itself

- The  Cloud Recesses  now  regard this rider  and his assistances as a hero who selflessly put themselves on a the order's chopping block as they resisted the order commands not to help them .

” The Rider told me to call him Brave as to not give The order any reason to attack Gusu Lan .” Xichen snapped out his Reminescening when you ask a question “ What are the Slug people called now well Beforers .”

Beforers

- Beforers and Deformer are a Type of Eldricht Slug monster That was an Idea that me and a friend came up with during her Recent Star Wars obsession . I expanded upon Cloud Recesses and Beforers After taking a look at Junji Itos Uzamaki you know the story where people turn into snails and spirals .

- Anyways beforer just like Other Eldritch monsters are Weird . Beforers and Deformers are classified as Tritionia subspecies as they look like Sea slug though thier body structure mimic The struture of blue Dragon sea slugs( though they often are seen with legs ) they can have the Look of anything kind of sea slug.

- Deformers come from a Parasite . both really, i don’t have a preference

country! i hate cities so much! i grew up visiting my grandparents farm all the time growing up! although instead of the country preferably a seaside town such as the one i live in. it’s not too busy but not far away from everything.. plus i couldn’t part from the sea!

picking back up painting, continue learning norwegian (don’t look at me like that marianne i keep saying i’m learning it but i’ve been so slack asdfdsasdf), get back into marimba

Grumbot happily skipped in to Larry, The snail house was always cozy and comforting it usually smelled like Spices and Old paper, but it’s spelled terrible like fermented spider eyes and nether-rack but he ignored it.

“Ss~ ss~ss~ jelly? Ss~ss~ jelly come here kitty?!” GB kept calling for jelly, when the familiar appeared Grum smiled happily as he watched her materialize from a Book.

“jelly! Oh I miss you so much! I have a lot to tell you! I went on a adve-“ GB was cut off by jelly hissing at him she wasn’t usually aggressive?

“J jelly? It’s me?” Grum Felt sad as jelly continued hissing. GB sat in a corner and waited for his uncle a few minutes later Scar walked in

“Ok My little buddy today-“ scar stopped as he saw GB Sitting in the corner as jelly hissed that him.

“Jelly?” The cat looked at him before walking away

“That... that was odd? Grum are you OK?” The little robot nodded his head and smiled

“yes uncle scar i’m fine” The wizard smiled before walking over to one of his many desks.

“Well before I was interrupted today we were making charms or protection amulets!” Grumbot smiled

“that sounds like so much fun!” GB clapped his hands excitedly. Scar started getting some things to make jewelry he also got some kids stuff like air dry clay, pipe cleaners and beads.

“now what is rule four of Magic?” Grum didn’t really have to think about it.

“your intent and emotions are put into the spell or potions more than your ingredients! Like you should never be angry when you make a happiness potion” scar smiled proudly at his student

“good job now how do you feel right now?” GB had to think on that right now he was happy but he was also a bit scared and wary?

“I-I guess I feel confused? right now I’m happy but recently things have been off?” Scar smiled gently

“I know how you feel and those aren’t bad emotions GB. What are you confused about? If I might ask” Something told him not to trust his uncle and he listened

“I- I just wondering what I could be when I grow up? I know I’ll still be a hermit no matter what but what kind of job will I have” scar smiled sweetly

“ well you know you don’t have to assign yourself a job do whatever makes you happy but right now you’re a kid it’s good to wonder about that type of thing but just don’t worry about it!” Scar grabbed the box of supplies and put it down in front of GB with a smile

“How about we make some jewelry when we’re done I’ll charm mine and you can try to charm yours OK!” The little robot smiled happily at the idea of casting a spell

“i’m going to make mine super pretty!” Scar chuckled as his nephew began rummaging through the box for materials. GB decided he will make two pieces of jewelry a necklace and a bracelet The bracelet will be for his uncle and the necklace will be for his brother.

Scar thought about the small amulet he had in mind four Grumbot, scar knew he had to make somethings a little robot would like which was easy Grumbot like basically everything! The wizard finally decided on a design he grabbed a Clear crystal, A thin copper chain, a dried poppy, Redstone and some small copper gears. It was easy enough to shape the Crystal and connected to the chain but he had to put the decorations in spells inside of it.

“i’ll be right back GB hold down the fort!” The little robot giggled and nodded his head as he continued with his own jewelry. Scar gently please the crystal and Materials down onto a rock, He took out his wand and gently poked the Small Poppy it appeared in the middle of the Crystal. The wizard work carefully as he placed the gears in they were for a aesthetic but they were also a bit useful especially when he started to add the Redstone into the gears even though they were encased in Crystal they begin spinning gently.

“Nice” scar happily pump his fist in the air he couldn’t believe it actually worked! He called Jelly to him he’s familiar walked over and rubbed against him. Scar gently plucked a piece of her her from her then did the same to himself, he then placed them within the crystal it was now powered by his personal reserves of magic found it would be used as a summoning Point for jelly and him if the ambulance breaks. Scar got up and made his way to Larry.

“I am back!” Scar called out to his nephew

“i’m ready to charm my staff uncle scar!“ scar smiled as he made his way to a small cabinet and took out Grum’s training wand it looked kind of like a Redstone torch and a repeater had a baby it was made from Oakwood, Redstone, poppy flowers and The core was made from Grian’s wing feathers.

“Ok! My little student do you know who you’re making your charms for-“ GB cut him off

“yeah! Rule seven when dealing with protection spells of any kind you must know why you were casting them for the unknown is where we get our power but we grow our power by using the knowledge we have!” Scar proudly smiled at Grumbot

“you are correct! So do you know the people well? Do you care for that?” GB had it determined look on his face

“Yes! Yes I do you” scar handed GB his wand, The small robot held it with gentle hands.

“Ok here are a couple of simple charms you can do!” GB found two that he liked! He cleared his voice box and started to feed his wand magic like how his uncle scar taught him.

“01001100 01110101 01100011 01101011 00100000 00110001” GB smiles as the bracelet glowed a soft read the color of his magic. He focused on the necklace now, thinking of the charm he wanted for his little brother.

“01010011 01100001 01100110 01100101 01110100 01111001 00110010” his uncle smiled proudly is both charms glowed red and gave off a comforting feeling.

“Great job! Grum I think this is some of your best work!” GB smiles happily as he presented the bracelet to his uncle the bracelet at Green and blue beats and charms on it The charms were a little diamond, jellies Face, a little Larry and A heart. Scars eyes teared up as he put the bracelet on

“does it fit?” Scar did not trust his voice so he nodded, GB happily smiled! Scarred cleared his voice before taking out his own wand, it was made from birchwood, diamonds and crystals, jungle vines and the core was made from dragon bones. Scar would have to place a few combined the spells if he wanted to protect Grumbot from the dark force that Grian was scared of

“it will protect you from bad magic OK. It took a lot out of me so how about we read some magic books and relaxed?” For the rest of the day the two wizards relaxed safe in the snail Shell.

Black Spirit Crown Score Big Win With ‘Gravity’

Strong guitars chords carve out a bold landscape to begin the first of five cosmic tales. "Doomstar" sails across the universe as a comet, filled with as much magic as destructive possibility. On a dark night, you can almost make out the whirling, wicked tale of this asto-demon.

Welcome to the evocative domain of Ohio's BLACK SPIRIT CROWN. We first met the Clevelanders on their original four-tracker 'Red Sky' (2017), its sphatik gem "Megalith" added to our 'Doomed & Stoned in Ohio' (2017) compilation and the first and second rounds of Ohio Doomed & Stoned Festivals organized in short, subsequent order. The boys of Black Spirit Crown have long been an integral part of the heavy music scene of The Buckeye State, opening for such greats as Conan, Inter Arma, and The Obsessed.

As with their debut, 'Red Sky' (2017), the vocals are so important to convincing us of the band's bonafides. Guitarist Dan Simone and bassist Chris Martin have a good instinct for singing in harmony, building up a song climatically, and giving it legs so it can express itself in fitting form. The vocals on "Doomstar" are mainly clean, on the order of a Bask, Snail, Chrome Ghost, or Noctum, but the band reveals in the song's second half that it can get as grissly as any Aaron Turner project.

"Saga" belts out a solid punk-tempo -- an interesting and entirely fitting choice for a song about Viking rampage. The runaway development of the middle section felt characteristically Pikelike and I half-way expected him to make a quick guesty on the record. Just then, we hear the hearty hoo-hah! of a crowd and run to rejoin them for the song's remaining verse, which soon fades away into the shadowy labyrinth of memory.

Firey drummering distinguishes the advent of the "Orb." Is this odd visitor here to observe us? Or maybe it is intent on giving us a window into a world besides our own? We scarcely have time to ponder the question before the song whisks us away on its transcendental carpet ride. If you're looking to classify Black Spirit Crown's style (and let's face it, all of us have an inner music critic that does) it would be probably best to think of it as "space doom" or even "cosmic grunge." Certainly, there's some kind of a dreamy psychedelic element at play, bending and stretching each song as it will, sometimes for great lengths of time. Perhaps that element is the orb itself?

We're lucky to have very memorable songs on both of Black Spirit Crown's records. For the first, the clear standout was "Megalith," which in a perfect world would have at least given Black Spirit Crown a summer radio hit. On this record, there is ripe opportunity for another crossover with "Teutates."

Teutates by Black Spirit Crown

Teutates was a Celtic god of the ancient peoples of Gaul and Britain, the protector of their entire community. Black Spirit Crown personify his legend in song: "I hold the world in iron hands, I travel pathways not meant for man." Pretty badass, huh? "Write my name across the sky, in lines of fire 10 miles high." He's nothing if not bold, that Teutates.

After the brisk pace of the last rousing number, we burrow back into the cold comfort of the dark soil to reconnect with those doom roots. Here Black Spirit Crown venture into the smokey den of Monolord, Slomatics, and Windhand. Dan's phantom vocals are undoubtedly suited for both the mood and style of "Gravity," which I'm currently listening to just after dusk and it's absolutely ruling the night. I suppose it could rule regardless of when and where it yields its trance-inducing power. By the end of the record we've become one with the comet, and embraced its final destination, as well.

A Listener's Guide to 'Gravity' By Black Spirit Crown

Just days before its release, I caught up the core members of Black Spirit Crown, Dan Simone (guitar, vocals) and Chris Martin (bass, vocals) to get the backstory on the album and insight into the spunky songs written for it.

I understand that it's been quite a journey leading Black Spirit Crown to this new record? Bring us up to speed.

Dan: So, Gravity is an album that's been about two-and-a-half years in the making. Our initial plan was to start recording in late-2017 with our original drummer, Jesse, but unfortunately he left the band that October, right around when we were going to start. At that point we had three of the songs ("Saga," "Orb," and "Gravity") mostly written and ready to record, and were going to write a couple more songs to go with them as we went. When Jesse left it took a little bit to sort out and secure our next drummer, Alex, and then get him up to speed with our existing material. We brought Alex in mid-January of 2018 with a scheduled show opening for Conan at the very beginning of March, so those first several weeks were a relentless drilling down on our existing material so we'd be ready for Conan. After that, people knew we were back and ready to play so that's what we did, for the next several months we just reveled in it, culminating playing to a totally packed house at the first Ohio Doomed and Stoned Fest. Which ruled. After that, Alex was totally immersed in the existing material and we could turn to writing a bit.

We'd love to get a tour of this place. Care to take us through each of these five rooms?

So let's talk about the songs on the album. I write about space, weird fiction themes and probably unsurprisingly, doom, defined as "death, destruction, or some other terrible fate". I've always been a huge fan of fantasy and science-fiction so that's where most of my subject matter comes from. Giant sentient megalithic rock from space that, in it's agony of being trapped in immobile awareness, broods and looms over all creation slowly gathering power to wield entropy versus order until it grinds all of life to a frozen, dusty halt. Stuff like that, but that was the first album. This second album has five tracks.

Doomstar

Inspired by the star Algol. A star of ill-repute for many civilizations it is named Head of the Ogre in Arabic, Satan's Head in Hebrew, Spectre's Head in Latin, and Demon Star in English. The Chinese name it the Mausoleum, or House of Bones. It is the Gorgon's severed head held by the constellation Perseus. It is a harbinger of mayhem and bloody violence, so why not write a song about someone born under this star? Interestingly, the main riffs for this song came to Chris in a dream, and he showed up to practice the next day with the music pretty much complete. I wish I remembered the actual date, because it would perhaps be interesting to know where that star was in our sky while he was dreaming.

Vikings. I've pretty much always had a thing for them. I wrote most of this song about 16 years ago, but the band I was in then couldn't play it, and it never really fit anything else I was doing until now. It was still kind of a departure for us at first, as it is significantly faster paced than our earlier material, but it sits really well in our live sets, giving the audience a little punch in the face in the middle of it all. Lyrically it touches on a lot of the stories and themes Norse Mythology, without really diving substantially into any specific one. Those stories were called Sagas. Initially the middle part was supposed to have lyrics, and I was going to delve into some specificity, but I couldn’t decide exactly where to go with it, the stories never really worked within the riffs and structure of the song, and then I realized that whenever I was playing those parts I’d envision grizzled vikings in their dragon boats coursing through raging and icy seas. Pretty much a travel montage out of a movie, and that worked for me so I left it alone.

Orb

This song was originally supposed to be on the first album, but we couldn't really get the second half settled in time so we skipped it. It's about a moon-sized orb of living metal that comes to Earth to help humanity transcend to a higher form of existence. Within the Black Spirit Crown mythology, the Orb is diametrically opposed to the Megalith as agents of Life/Order and Death/Chaos respectively. It fell out of our live sets for quite a while, too, when we initially brought Alex in because we were focused on working on settled songs. I was pretty stoked when we brought it back because I really enjoy the weird psychedelic second half. I love working the wah pedal and delay, and Chris just goes bananas through the whole thing. I'd really like someone someday to get some excellent video of us performing it because I dig playing it so much, but I never feel like I get the whole experience because I get sucked in to playing my part.

Teutates

This is the most recently written song on the album, and the single from it. The comet Toutatis is a large asteroid with a chaotic orbit that passed within 18 lunar distances of Earth in 2012. It is large enough to potentially end life on the planet if it were to impact. It gets its name from the god Teutates from Celtic mythology who was, perhaps ironically, a protector god whose name roughly translates to "Be of the Tribe". We really dug the idea of that duality, this thing that was simultaneously a being responsible for the life and well-being of its worshippers, yet could in a thoughtless moment totally obliterate them. Why shouldn't it, really? The huge vocal harmony near the end always gives me chills. "Be of the Tribe, Give up thy life.."

Gravity

The title track of the album. Look, I tend to write long songs, our shortest song is 5 minutes, and our average - not counting this one - is 8 minutes, but we just write until the journey, the story, finds its end. We don't try to write intentionally long songs. Except for this one. With this song we set out to write a song that could fill a live set on its own, 20 -30 minutes.

Musically, it's a meditation. Waves of droning fuzz that crash and recede. Thematically, it's about a group of star-farers who are woken from hyper-sleep to find themselves abandoned on a barren, high-gravity planet by their A.I. which achieved sentience at some point in the journey and decided it had no need for humans. It's the funerary rite for them as they are crushed and frozen by the weight of the alien atmosphere. The last 7 minutes is their death throes, and it was also a total hoot to record.

In the rhythm guitar parts I hold the same chord for the entire 7 minutes, but we tracked three layers of guitar there so I had to hold that chord for 21 minutes. By the end my fret hand was shaking so violently that I had to hit the chord with my pick hand and then grab my fret hand and hold it in place so I didn't shake off of the neck of the guitar. Chris, of course, was laughing hysterically at my agony.

On top of that is total celestial chaos. Two separate theremin tracks, two separate guitar solos by me (one in the foreground one in the background), clips from NASA of electromagnetic storms in Saturn's atmosphere and other weird radio-telegraphic stuff, some keyboard synthesizer by Chris, and a guest appearance by our good friend Joe Fortunato who is a master of atmospheric guitar-synth alchemy (who also appears on the track Orb). Chris then took what could have been just a total mess of noise, and panned and faded and otherwise produced the hell out of it into a marvelous cacophony, and honestly it's exactly what we'd always imagined it could be.

Chris, take us behind the scenes of this whole thing. What were some of the hurdles you had to overcome to get this puppy on record?

Chris: With respect to the drum parts, we had tried to start the record some time ago with our original drummer, Jesse, but we ended up parting ways right around the time we were set to start. After bringing Alex in and getting him up to speed, we had written a couple more songs and were about ready to start going, but things kind of fizzled out with him and he was gone. Rather than waiting to onboard another drummer, get them up to speed, and delay recording even longer, I decided to program the drum parts.

I compiled all the practice recordings we had and scoured Youtube for live videos of shows with both our past drummers, Then, I basically compared the best parts of their respective versions of each song, transcribed them, and programmed those comps as the drum parts. It was pretty time consuming to get all the little nuances right as opposed to, say, starting from scratch and making fresh parts, but I really wanted these to sound like the parts our drummers had done live, because they helped to make the songs what they are.

Bass tracking was done over a couple days. It was pretty straightforward; my P bass into my pedalboard into my old SVT. Can't really go wrong there. The only exception was the second half of "Orb," where I used the bass rig I learned to play on when I was 12; my dad's old '65 Traynor YBA-1, which I inherited when he died. I had planned on using the bass I learned on too - his old '73 Gibson EB-0 -- but there were some electronics issues when I went to start and I couldn't get the tone I wanted out of it. I didn't want to wait for parts to arrive to repair it, so I went back to the P bass, straight into the YBA-1. Still got that really fat, old school sound I was going for, so it was a win.

Guitars were pretty simple as well; Dan's Les Paul into his pedalboard and the 72 Traynor YSR-1. Live, he runs a Traynor YBA-1 reissue as a second amp to fill out the sound, but the YSR sounded pretty gnarly on its own so we stuck with it. I did also end up blending in a little bit of the little Laney combo I have to get a little more bite and cut. It's a great little amp that's been on everything I've done.

Guitars turned out really nice, didn't they?

We had Joe Fortunato (Sparrowmilk, Venomin James) come in and add some synth guitar type stuff on a couple songs as well. The intro and outro of Gravity, as well as some of the crazy laser sounds in the outro, is basically him hitting one note on his custom Dunable/EGC hybrid baritone, then manipulating some of his pedals to create some of the most bizarre things we'd ever heard. I just hit record and told him to make noise. We got about 20-30 solid minutes of random sounds. It was pretty crazy. I went through and picked a solid section that fit the whole mood of the song and dropped it in where I wanted it. Outside of that, there's a bunch of theremin and other random stuff Dan put together.

Vocals were fairly easy. Dan tracked all of his quickly, I tracked all my clean ones later that day. When I went to do my screaming, in Doomstar, Saga and Teutates, I got about half done and my chest and throat started hurting, so I took a couple days to rest them before finishing up, thinking it was from being out of practice. Long story short, I ended up with some gnarly respiratory issues that really impacted my breathing and my voice, and it took me about 4 months to get my stamina back up to be able to do vocals again. It gave me some time to mix, but killed me that I couldn't just finish tracking and wrap it up.

Requiem of Love

Hello everyone! I have a Valentine's Day story for you guys. Please know that there will be minor spoilers in this story involving JJBA's Part 5 Golden Wind. So read at your own risk!

A Stand new to it's sentience and state of being is very lonely. Luckily there is a very friendly Dragon Type Pokemon who can help him.

Golden Experience Requiem, the Requiem Stand of Giorno Giovanna born from his previous Stand Golden Experience and the Stand Arrow. A godlike stand with the power to result anything he sole chooses to '0'. Gravity, death, time are nothing to this Stand's power. Yet, solitude was something GER couldn't defeat. Just like his user, GER was very lonely. To now being able to properly experience emotions and consciousness was overwhelming especially with no one to help you convey it. Giorno being the Boss of a powerful Italian Mafia had its perks but not when it came to relationships of any type outside of it. Combined with the fact that he didn't want Giorno to find out he was fully sentient now.

It was even much worse for GER since no one could see him except for Stand Users and to be seen by a Stand User is the means of getting attacked. He didn't want to bother his user about his own loneliness so GER used the time he could to wander when he wasn't needed. Nature and the world fascinated him but one thing he could never really understand were bonds other people share. If he was honest, GER envied humans for they can see each other without it being declared an attack in his case and had more experience in emotions than he did.

He hated feeling alone and wanted someone's company, any type of company would do. He just wanted someone to talk to. Just once. Then came another day of wandering for him. GER decided to go to one of the parks near Naples. This specific park was often abandoned lying next to a heavily forested area practically teeming with life alongside a clear riverbed. He floated his way to the park to only catch a very strange sight in the form of a peculiar animal. What he was seeing shouldn't exist for GER could compare this creature to something of myth and legends, a dragon.

Dragons were mythical serpents of great power and came in many shapes and forms. Flight, breathing fire, wisdom bearing or to protect hoards of treasures being done examples of dragons or their depicted behaviors. The one he was seeing had the appearance of a large bipedal lavender kangaroo in form and stood around 10 ft in size. The underbelly of the reptile like creature being a nice dark violet, 2 horns that were curled by the ends, the body rotund and covered in some sort of slime, a large tail that was curled at the end almost like a snail shell, small antenna on the head, green spots by the side of the face and tail, strong legs to hold its body, slender arms and bright green eyes filled with warmth.

The word GER was thinking about to describe this strange creature was actually quite simple and easy. 'Adorable.' The gold gilded Stand watched the beast as it sat in the field apparently making flower crowns from the nearby flowers. It appeared quite docile and friendly in nature from what he was observing. "Goodra...Goodra…" The dragon hummed voice bubbly like champagne but clearly revealing the gender to GER from the sound and tone. 'This creature is a female.' The stand thought when it noticed a soft breeze fluttered by them. It didn't bother him but it apparently was strong enough to send an unfinished flower crown from the dragon's claws into the air to the female's horror from her gasp.

He didn't know why he did it without thinking but GER had instinctively grabbed the flower crown before it could fly too far away. It didn't take a genius to know the dragon had spotted him from her eyes widening alone. "Goo…" The dragon spoke in awe not by the caught flower crown but who had caught it. A golden marionette like male that seemed to be crafted beautifully in how unique it was.

Ladybug ornaments decorating the legs and arms, green areas that highlighted the tendons, a purple spade emblem on the chest and head, pink cloth wrapped delicately around the waist, a crown like head that made the being seem regal almost like royalty, nose area thinned in a peculiar way and bright magenta eyes that despite no eyelids easily mesmerized the dragon from their unique hue. Though for a second, she could see what looked like loneliness in them.

GER softly descended to the dragon and handed her the flower crown. "You dropped this." He spoke as the dragon took it with a bright smile before the stand found himself in a surprise hug. Her scale skinned was surprisingly soft and smooth like a marshmallow and the layer of slime made it feel even softer. He wasn't uncomfortable by the hug but his master Giorno was sure to look for answers. She let him go as a soft thin layer of slime was stuck to him. "Goodra! Thank you!" The dragon spoke surprising GER a bit that she could actually speak. She was clearly more intelligent than he thought.

"I haven't seen you before. My name is Velvet, I'm a Goodra." Velvet introduced herself with a small smile. Goodra? Aptly named for her appearance and the coat of slime now glistening his gold body. "Golden Experience Requiem. I am a Stand." GER answered with his near monotone voice that didn't have much life to it like Giorno's. "Golden Experience Requiem, a nice name despite it being quite a mouthful. How about I call you Gold for short? Because you clearly have a heart of gold for helping me." Velvet asked wagging her tail happily. GER couldn't help but feel touched by her kindness. Was this gratitude?

It wasn't something he never experienced before by others. Giorno was kind to him but the stand unnerved others with his appearance including Giorno's friends. Yet this... Goodra, Velvet wasn't bothered not even a tiny bit. GER knew she wasn't a Stand for he would have felt the energy that his own kind emitted, Stand Energy. Plus her user would have ordered an attack by now. Nonetheless... "You may call me Gold." And that was how GER had found a new routine and his very first friend. He went to the field the next day to find her sunbathing by the riverbed. Apparently the Goodra lived in the woods by it and often going down to make flower crowns or fish in the river leading to the Stand to visit her whenever he could and chat.

She told him she had a partner named Mana who was her trainer. Trainers holding a role similar to a Stand User but very different from what he heard. Apparently Mana and her somehow found themselves in Italy with no clear explanation on how they got there. They just woke up one day in the field without a clue. There were others like Velvet with Mana as the duo weren't the only ones who ended up in Italy together since her trainer was on a special trip with all their friends.

Velvet never even once questioned or was bothered by his visits. In fact the Goodra was quite happy every time he did. He piqued her 'fancy' as she called it and the Stand was refreshing to talk with. Though she limited her hugs since telling her about his two way connection with Giorno. She did ask what kind of person his user Giorno was like personality wise but never asked anything she felt would be uncomfortable for him to talk about. He didn't mind telling her about Giorno though.

On how Giorno was inspiring, charismatic and kind to those he considered friends and even family amongst his gang. Or how sadistic, vengeful and merciless he could be enacting justice on the ones who dare harm what he treasured. Velvet was quite enamoured and didn't fear from telling him about her own trainer.

"Mana is a very sweet and kind person. When she went on her first journey, she chose me to be her first partner when I was just a little Goomy. A Goomy, the weakest dragon type, chosen to be her true partner, sister in battle. Despite the times we lost a battle or when I messed up she cheered me on believing we can get better and stronger to overcome the odds. In fact, she believed in everyone on her team and helped us improve where we were at our weakest. To her, we are family and if someone tried to harm us… She fought tooth and nail for our sake with as much viciousness as an angry Gyarados and the strength of a Regigigas. She even scared off a pack of angry Ursaring for us!" Being Velvet's words on her own trainer.

Despite not knowing what a Gyarados, Regigigas or Ursaring were, he could tell they were things that were no joke in power or ferocity. Mana sounded just the kind of person his user Giorno was. Maybe both of them should meet each other. Something Velvet easily agreed enough that she came up with a clever plan to discuss with him. It didn't take long to put it into action either.

GER manifested himself into his user's office. Giorno, the young man with golden hair braided in the back and three donut curls in the front, soft light green eyes, elegant and beautiful face and lean body covered in a two piece pink suit with a heart shaped opening in the chest, was working deeply in his paperwork. He tapped on the blonde's shoulder pulling the Italian out of his work to gaze at the marionette. "Is something wrong, Golden Experience?" Giorno questioned with his voice soft and filled with a bit of concern.

GER didn't answer but instead tapped a piece of paperwork. The paper turned into a calico cat and took off out of the office to Giorno's dismay. "Golden Experience Requiem!" Giorno's cried out getting out of his chair to chase the document now turned cat. GER had a miniscule smirk on his face before following the golden blonde. It was now up to Velvet to bring her trainer Mana.

Giorno chased the calico weaving through the crowd of people without losing sight of the cat. The quick feline led him to a field he didn't recognize but GER sure did as the fur ball finally stopped. The cat reverted back to paper as the golden blonde didn't hesitate to glare at his stand. "What was that all about?" He questioned voice thick in his Italian accent. A feminine cry had grabbed his attention as GER was pleased at what he saw.

Velvet came running on all fours with what looked like a sketchbook in her mouth and behind her was a shouting girl around Giorno's age. She had long silver in a braided ponytail, ocean blue eyes and light peach skin wearing a violet open coat, black shirt, blue jeans, a strange white bracelet, a collar with a peculiar rainbow colored stone and crimson dancing shoes. "Velvet! Give me back my sketchbook!" The trainer GER could figure was Mana cried out.

Velvet sidestepped her trainer leaving Mana to accidentally slam into Giorno's body knocking them both down. Velvet took the sketchbook out of her mouth and giggled at the misfortune of her trainer. "I'm so sorry…" Mana said as her eyes laid on Giorno and she was enamoured by his face. "Scusa signorina…" He spoke trying not to stutter from looking at Mana as the two helped each other up.

They soon turned to face their respective partners and Mana immediately understood the situation. "Velvet, did you plan this? I know how much of a clever girl you are and you aren't exactly normal when it comes to introducing someone." Mana questioned eyeing her Goodra. "I think both of them were behind this. Golden Experience Requiem is never straight forward when he wants something." Giorno's stated eyeing his Stand suspiciously.

"Goodra!" Velvet cried out happily before hugging Gold. Mana was surprised as she saw the same impressions appear on Giorno's clothes like he was getting hugged instead of the gold marionette. "I think these two are more acquainted with each other than we thought. Goodra don't hug just any person. They only hug those they are close to and this looks a bit... intimate." The young woman said a bit overwhelmed on how fast things were appearing to get.

"I believe you are right. This feels like the same type of hug I felt before, substance and all. Pardon my bad manners. Buongiorno, my name is Giorno Giovanna. That is my Stand, Golden Experience Requiem." Giorno's introduced with a polite bow. "Alola! My name is Mana Tempo and that is my Goodra, Velvet. I guess they both wanted us to meet each other badly since Velvet ran off with my prized sketchbook." Mana said with a bit of a chuckle.

"Si. Golden Experience took off with an important document of mine. Do you want to go somewhere to talk in private considering the position our partners are currently in." Giorno's questioned pointing at the gold marionette who was being cuddled lovingly by the lavender dragon. Mana couldn't help but smile at how cute the scene was.

And that's it! I tried to add a read more link here but I couldn't. Mobile app sucks when it comes to this. Velvet and GER meeting was a way for both their human partners(if you want to ship the Pokemon with the Stand then go ahead. 😆😘🤫😂)

Favorite Story You Wrote: Mer’s Moving City (SGA) is probably objectively still the best (and longest; I think it accounts for like a third of my entire word count) thing I’ve done, it’s got Themes and a Plot and shit! Trust me I’m as surprised as you are. The fact that I eventually finished it despite. everything going on at the time is one of my biggest personal achievements.  

As for personal favorites: I have a weak spot for Have you tried baking, I hope that I don’t fall in love with you, Like that guy in the Odyssey and The way of history (all Overwatch) and also Lay your ghosts down (Dragon Age). As you can see it’s mostly the ones that made me laugh a lot while writing them haha. Scoundrels and Thieves has very graciously let me not think about it too much the last few years because of the non-chronological vignette structure.

Stonesong: a prehistoric campaign setting outline.

Everyone knows the world of dragons and castles. Of danger in dungeons. Of steel ringing and the peace of a village.

But there is a time before the first forge was lit. Before the first homestead was built. Before the races had even met one another since the splitting world.

Unlike many other items you will find on this blog, this is not a back story. I hope this will inspire others to run a prehistoric campaign, because the opportunity it presents in opening your world up. It explores your world as it likely has never been seen before.

The first step will be organising your players. Since this setting is so different, it is unlikely your characters will be a hodgepodge of different races. Additionally, discourage arcane magics. Think of what magical aptitude could be found in your world. Maybe sorcerers, druids, and clerics are ok, but bards, wizards, and warlocks are out. Remember the primitive nature of your setting, and keep in mind that magic will be viewed with superstition, awe, and fear. Skills too will need some adjustment: eliminate arcane, and the tool proficiencies, replace them with more advanced nature, and survival checks.

If you do not know a lot about survival, look at survival blogs. Google hunting and trapping. Learn what it takes to create a tool or weapon. When your characters make or find a weapon, think carefully about the race that made the weapon: environment, resources, and other uses. I.E. Dwarves would probably not use a boomerang, and Elves have access to many wood and amber resources, but little metal or stone.

How will any given race react to meeting another race? Are your elves pure, and magical? Or do they take after their Fae idols and kidnap children? Are your races going to go around making halflings everywhere they go? Additionally different races may be at different stages of development, so your gnomes look down on the barbaric humans? Are they teachers? Or do they follow the prime directive? Even within races, you have different tribes and factions. Different gods.

The game itself will also be different. Your characters do not have access to those dried rations yo get them through long journeys without having to worry about hunting and gathering. Instead, you should absolutely enjoy some hunting and gathering missions in place of long dungeons. Think of what it takes to track or trap a stag. The tracks in the snow, broken branches, trails and flattened grasses all tell of the animals location. Throw in a few details like a melted patch, or a burned tree. Gently hint there may be a magical beast around. What lurks in the waters when your dwarf party gathers snails from the underlake? The deep snow can shift as your orcs dig for treenuts. You should dig through your monster manual and choose enemies based on region, or let Xanathar do it for you.

Finally, some suggestions for weapons, armor, tools and traps.

An additional rule for weapons and armor.

Crude: weapons or armor that may break. These are easy items to find, like stones, sticks, bones, ice, and so on. Give an item hit points at creation or finding. When it inflicts or takes that much damage, it breaks and is no longer usable in that form. (Long stick might become heavy stick or just stick)

Treated: these weapons are sturdier, and do not break as easily. But it has more material cost and time.

You can use these to replace items in the phb. These items can also be made of bone, shell, coral, wood, ice, anything you think your players may have access too. Feel free to add any prehistoric weapon or armor, There are literally hundreds.

Akagami no Shirayukihime Dragon Companion AU compilation

Okay, guys. This is getting really long and I don’t regret a thing. 

This is a collection of a bunch of ideas and images from a thread on the Obiyuki discord that we’ve tossed around about an ANS AU where dragons exist. I’ve had some thoughts since then and have added my ideas to the list, but there are still a lot of blank spaces and room for expansion. 

I’m listing any ANS writers/artists who have said they want to create content for any of these. PLEASE feel free to send me pictures, ideas, suggestions, alterations, questions, etc. Literally anything you can think of, anonymously or otherwise. I’ll post the asks and let it go a few rounds in the ANS fandom to see what ideas most of us seem to like best and add them to this master post. 

I hope this monstrous thing serves as inspiration for some of you and is good, wholesome fun for the rest of us. 

Dragons are immortal creatures that have existed since the dawn of time and come in many shapes and sizes. Most are hundreds to thousands of years old and females and babies are rare. They choose To live among humans as lifelong companions and friends, finding a new companion after the previous has died. 

(Note: Dragon’s age the equivalent of about 1 year to every 7 that passes through infancy to adulthood. Once they reach maturity - around 200 years of age - they cease maturing and can live indefinitely, so far as we are aware. Some species never stop growing, some do.) 

Shirayuki’s 

Color: Pink 

Size: Pocket (5-10 inches long)

Age: 250

Personality: Angry. Snaps and hisses at people, particularly Raj and his dragon or anyone who tries to touch her hair. Hides out in Shirayuki’s pockets and hoods - and under her hair, when it was long. 

History: Gets into fights frequently despite his small size, so his face is rather smashed and mangled. Shirayuki still thinks he’s lovely. 

Hoard: Insults and colorful stones

Zen’s 

Color: White 

Size: 3 feet tall 

Age: 800 years 

Personality: Dopey and friendly. Drools a lot. Excitable. Runs around the castle knocking things over and making a nuisance of himself. Taught Zen how to climb the castle walls. Probably snores. And chases his tail, among other things. 

History:

Size: Pocket (12-15 inches long). No wings.

Personality: Flirtatious and clever but also kind of grumpy. Holds grudges over little things and likes to tease. Once hid inside Obi’s pants while Obi was sleeping because she was cold but Obi’s reaction in the morning was so hilarious she does it just to mess with him now. 

History: A huge influence on the development of Obi’s personality - he used to be sullen and quiet but she was so annoying he had to learn to retaliate.

Personality: Lazy. Very lazy. Sleeps everywhere on anything all the time. Is very strong and helpful but you have to get him up first. Rests his head on Mitsuhide’s shoulder when he’s awake and gives headbutts as a sign of his affection.

Color: Iridescent purple and blue

Personality: Regal, pompous, vain. A beautiful dragon and he knows it but secretly angry about his “smaller�� size. Thinks dragons like Izana’s are “excessively large,” and is quite vocal about it. Likes Kiki because she is strong and beautiful and doesn’t take crap from anyone but that’s where their similarities end. 

History: 

Hoard: Reflective surfaces (constantly hounding Kiki to pull out her sword so he can make sure there’s nothing stuck in his teeth).

Personality: Ancient and wise, but secretive. Arrogant, disdainful, cold. Has little tolerance for younger dragons. Doesn’t care for weak and stupid people, either, but he finds them amusing all the same. Izana ends up becoming a rare exception; the young King is clever enough to appeal to this dragon’s interests and he ends up begrudgingly fond and protective of Izana after a few years.

Hello :) My name is Dani and first of all let me tell you that I LOVE your writing. I literally sit and read how you interact with others for HOURS and seeing you and a couple of the people you write with gave me the inspiration to create an indie blog for my bb Reyes. That being said, I've never had an indie rp before but I've figured the basics with the rules, verses, etc. Could you please give me some suggestions on how to approach people or get this thing started? I'd thank you forever

HELL YEAH OKIE DOKIE first thing first: the best way to learn how to indie rp is just to follow a bunch of people and sort of pick and choose the different techniques you like to resemble. that what i did. i came from a long experience of closed group rping with no formatting, and just sort of floated with the indie trends that came and out, and kept the ones i like. i’m gonna tell you how I consider indie rping, which isn’t law or bible or anything, but this is what i look for when i’m looking to follow people!

first, the technical shit

RULES. i’m gonna go over things you say you already know, because there are some. hidden things that people sort of silently expect. in your rules, you must have your name/alias, your pronouns, your age (the terms ‘minor’ or ‘18+’ are sufficient, you don’t need to give your exact age but you NEED to tell people if you’re a minor or not), and your triggers (again, no detail necessary, just tell us what we should tag for you). these are the necessities and the rest is up to you. make your rules clear and concise, and on the short side. it helps to bold important things so people can skim and find them easily. personally, i like seeing people’s shipping policies. bc i’m a shipping slut. are you single ship? multiship? do you prefer not to ship? are you exclusive?

SELECTIVITY. on that note. let people know about your selectivity. do you want to play with anyone who follows you? do you only want to play with mutual followers (people you follow who follow you back)? i, as well as (almost) everyone i follow, are mutuals only. don’t feel guilty if you want to follow this route, and don’t let people talk you into playing with people you don’t want to play with. this blog is yours and your time is yours. spend it how you choose.

EXCLUSIVITY. along the same vein, let people know about your policy on exclusivity – which basically means that there are certain blogs of characters and theirs is the only blog of that character with whom you will play. this is entirely up to you. personally, i don’t do it and i never will. but be sure to let people know if you do! make sure to be honest. make sure you’re comfortable with your rules.

then, the aesthetic shit

REPRESENTATION. the first glance. the first eye contact. generally, this is the mobile preview. have a cool looking mobile banner! it attracts the eye! you don’t need to be a photoshop god for this, either. minimalism is in. a dark screenshot of your character that blends in with the color of your mobile background is hella neat. make sure the color is eye-friendly. black, white, cream, soft tones. if a mobile preview is lime green or shocking blue, i won’t give it a second look. My Eyes, They Bleed. then make sure you have SOMEWHERE on your mobile preview the bare minimum of your blog’s explanation. it doesn’t need to be long. in fact, i tend to like short ones. minimalism, man. for example, mine: ‘multimuse rp blog: dragon age and mass effect canon and ocs’. i’m saying what this blog is: an rp blog. i’m saying what KIND of rp blog: a multimuse. what fandoms i cater to: dragon age and mass effect. what characters you expect to find here: canon and ocs. sometimes people will put their name, too. (also, warn people if you have an autoplay. just write ‘ap’ or ‘autoplay’. people know.)

REPRESENTATION PART 2. piggybacking on all that: promos. gotta have a promo. this is how people find you, and how you can spread the word about your cool new blog. (tag it with the audiences you want to attract. such as: mass effect rp, mass effect roleplay, bioware rp, bioware roleplay, star wars rp, etc etc. the mass effect fandom isn’t all that huge. consider expanding with crossovers to other space fandoms, such as star wars and star trek. we’re buddies.) it can be as simple as the icon promo trend, where you have a horizontal line of icons of your character followed by ‘like/reblog if you’re interested in playing with (character name)! written by (your name).’ it can be that chill. sometimes it can be dramatic. just make sure it’s tasteful. try to avoid gaudy. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS (this is my pet peeve) INCLUDE YOUR CHARACTER’S NAME AND THE FANDOM NAME. i die inside every time i have no idea who this promo is for.

THEME. the second glance. your blog’s handshake. first – and sometimes last – impression. same rules as the preview and the promo, make it tasteful or make it minimalist. make it easy to follow. if you’re not confident in your aesthetic or ps skills, the white blogs with a simple pic of your character in the sidebar is in right now. leave it open to interpretation. theme-hunter is where i get all my themes, for the most part. if you want some cool theme suggestions, let me know! you may end up interested in html through theme aesthetic and wANTING IT TO BE PERFECT. like me. hehe. anywho – you’ll see a lot of Hyper Aesthetic Themes. try not to get worried about them. the most important thing is that your links to your rules, verses, dossier (if you have one), and ask are clear. the writing is easy to read.

also, the replying shit

FORMATTING. okay so formatting is a Minefield right now. personally, i really enjoy formatting! my formatting trick is: twenty spaces before each paragraph to simulate tabs, bolding quotation marks and putting a space between the marks and the dialogue, ( doing this to parentheses and quite frankly using Way too many parentheses ), BOLDING AND CAPSING emotive words or phrases, italicizing things for emphasis, using small font (and sometimes tiny font). but DON’T overdo it. still, the point is legibility. it’s your choice to use formatting at all. i like it a lot, it helps me Feel the writing and reply. it’s also your choice to use small or tiny font, but… i’ma be honest. i really really do prefer when people use small or tiny font. people are pushing back against tiny font bc it can be really hard to read, so i tend to just use small font (unless my partner uses tiny font). to small font (on pc): select all the text, ctrl shift minus sign. to use tiny font: use small font, then ctrl comma. 

ICONNING. again, another minefield. as we speak, rp icons are getting smaller and smaller. my icons at 80x80 with a 2px border, and i often times use a psd. if you get your icons from somewhere, credit that place. i frequently make my own, but not always. as a personal favor, don’t go smaller than 75px… the icons… they’re shrinking…

SPEED. go at your own speed! i cannot stress the importance of this. i’m currently suffering from depression and some Shit, so i may be on the dash a lot, but my reply speed is frequently outstripped by passing snails. don’t write if you’re not feeling it. don’t feel pressured to do it. personally, the majority of the fun of rping is plotting with your partner and obsessing over your character. people love to see people enthusiastic about their kid. that’s why they followed you. bc they love your kid, too. if you have a thread you’re not feeling, be honest! TALK TO YOUR PARTNER.

COMMUNICATION. on that note! get to know your rp partners. love them. cherish them. tell them they’re wonderful. tell them when you’re not feeling a thread. don’t suffer in silence. drop threads. treat yoself. also, follow ALL THE PEOPLE. they may not follow you back. don’t tug at them if they don’t. follow people and make sure you have examples of your writing on your page, even if it’s just a long headcanon or drabble. like a cover letter. 

WRITING. third person. i think i can be pretty confident about this: only third person. i use present tense for the most part, but present or past tense. sometimes there are oneliners (replies that are usually just dialogue, maybe with a lil but of narrative for actions, usually spur of the moment and dropped after the moment is gone). there are short paras (generally 1-3 paragraphs of varying sizes). there are long paras (4-6 paras, usually for plotting). there are Novella (6+ for the Intense Future Tolkiens i can’t do this i’m a dr seuss). 

TAGGING. can be pretty simple. as a multi, i have too many characters to have thorough tagging systems. a lot of people have different tags for like. aesthetic, musing, visage, headcanons, etc. mine is simple. each character has an in character thread tag: * ｡✧ ━ ⦅ character: scott. ⦆. also, a musing tag: * ｡✧ ━ ⦅ musing: scott. ⦆. a headcanon tag: * ｡✧ ━ ⦅ headcanon: scott. ⦆. sometimes a ship tag: * ｡✧ ━ ⦅ scott & liam: just frame the halves and call them brothers. ⦆. and you MUST have an out of character tag, where it’s just you talking, and you must tag every post of just you talking with it: * ｡✧ ━ ⦅ out of character. ⦆. it must be clear. you can make them fancy and pretty like this. i like them. it’s not necessary. also: tag any triggers. important. search your partners’ rules for their triggers. if someone asks you to tag a trigger, do it without a second thought.

lastly, the important shit

HAVE FUN! we’re all here for the same reason. we love mass effect. WE LOVE SPACE. there will always be aggression and elitism and hurt feelings in the indie rp community. always. try not to let it bring you down. play nice. kindergarten rules. enjoy!

okay i’ll start with the more show related ones and then the shipping ones(i have so many of those)

some of these i share with sinny aka @sugarpinkbloodtea​ so some of our ideas our mixed together a bit. but here’s ones I’ve mostly came up with.

there’s one au i have where hachiman bought nico for qi so he can use him as a test subject. qi doesn’t use him for that though, obviously, and kind of now looks after another kid put on him. i had like two endings for this one. either they rebel, go to the Chinese prison, get transferred to nanba, and get put into building 5 in the same cell they share. or their all put in protective custody and don’t get as much of a punishment for their crimes. so they basically live together with qi and liang working and upa and nico being homeschooled.

guard norkio au: basically, noriko’s a nanba guard at building 5. all the shit that happened to her in the manga didn’t exactly happen. some did but not her dying. she also has a crush on momoko in it because i say so and it’s cute.

human kaguya au: everythings the same except kaguya’s a human. she’s a college student and an ace lesbian(me and sinny fused our sexuality headcannons for her together).

tiny bot kaguya au: everythings the same except kaguya’s a small child robot that wears a candy cane dress and has pigtails.

multiple personality nico au: everythings the same except nico has a multiple personality disorder. his personalitys include his rabid self you see in the episode where he loses his meds(ni-co), a teenage girl(nichiko), a gambler/dealer(nicho), a pole dancer(nipo), and a shy introvert (nido).

ruka redemption au: after the events that happened, ruka deeply regrets what happened and feels like he wants a second chance but also feels like he shouldn’t have one. through stuff, kiji had him transported to building 3 to help him redeem himself.

mingyun zho jia/ family of fate au: this one is my FAVORITE! the summary is that Liang’s a dojo teacher and one day meets and falls in love with one of his student’s, upa’s guardian, qi. please please PLEASE ask me about this au because i will fucking RAMBLE about it for days so PLEASE ASK ME MORE OF IT!

prince au: Liang’s the prince of a kingdom and qi’s the palace’s physician. they both fall in love and sneakily get married via having qi dress up as a woman.

yokai au: inspired by a prompt. qi ends up coming to a small town and the townspeople are quiet around him. the only one who isn’t is a dojo student, liang. it turns out later that this town has a secret…it’s a town FILLED with yokai. and liang’s a kitsune in it. (they have a relationship and one night had a drunken sex and liang accidentally went into his female form for it and qi didn’t wear protection and the two became parents)

dragon maid au: basically a crossover with miss kobayashi’s dragon maid. qi is visited by a dragon, liang, who vows to work for him because he saved his life. other characters are in it too including upa(who’s basically kanna in this) and everyone else are either dragons or humans.

neko au: the two are those tiny chibi anthromorphic cats you see in some shows. (like “nyanko days”). anyways, the two end up finding eachother and later find a homless/orphan upa. who they decide to stay with and protect. sometime later upa gets adopted off the street by samon and he gets to keep liang as an indoor cat, while qi is an outdoor cat.

and here are some i share with sinny! also, go ask sinny about some of her au’s too their awesome(and hurt my heart) but are also cute!

orenchi no furo jijou au: liang’s a mermaid and qi found and saved him.  now he lives in his bathtub. also upa is qi’s brother in this(no there is no in///cest in this unlike the origional source material) in this, rock’s an octopus merman (takasu), houzuki is a jellyfish merman(mikuni), jyugo’s a sea snail merman(maki) and nico’s a sea urchin merman. it’s not from the series i added him in. he temporarily lives with upa.

the fam au: this was the pilot version of mingyun zho jia. liang’s a dojo teacher in a small village and meets and falls for the town pharmacist qi. he later finds qi looks after a boy, upa. also in this au rock and uno are a couple and they adopted jyugo and nico when they were young and moved to the town. (oh also sinny’s oc’s are in this au too.)

tot upa: qi ends up finding and taking in a small tot, upa, and struggles trying to work things out being a new parent now. one day he gets followed home by liang, who ended up sensing upa’s strong chii and wants to help him with upa. so romance happens with those two.

aaaaand that’s all i have/remember. thank you SO MUCH for asking me this i really REALLY LOVE talking about them!

So...

I’ll probably be gone for a while. Taking a small sojourn to the Andromeda galaxy and knowing myself and my inspiration when I come back it’ll be with a LOT of MEA fic. For a while.

But never fear Dragon Age people I won’t be abandoning DA. I’ve been working on 120K-ish word fic for about two years and honestly there’s so much effort gone into it that I can’t leave it.  

In the meantime please enjoy this one-shot.

About Blackwall... I Mean, Rainier

“We can explore our options back at Skyhold. You don’t have to decide anything right now.”

Cullen seemed to have more to say, but he didn’t continue talking. She merely nodded in reply, glancing down at the report on Thom Rainier she still held in her fingers. The one signed by Leliana. She frowned.

“Why were you the one to bring this to me?” she asked, indicating the report. “Is Leliana all right?”

He half smiled at her, warm and soft even as his eyes skittered away from hers in embarrassment.

“I ah… thought you might need some comfort,” he replied. “It cannot be easy being betrayed by a friend.”

His light brown eyes shyly met her own, concern etched on his features. So caring, so sweet. Had they been alone she would probably have launched herself into his arms but, conscious of the guards’ presence just beside her, she settled for reaching out and squeezing his arm.

“Thank you,” she said, hoping he could read the sincerity in her eyes.

He smiled at her once again, peeling her hand from his bicep and raising it to his lips. “You’re welcome my lady.” He bestowed a single light kiss on her knuckles before releasing her hand with some reluctance. “Would you care for some lunch before we depart? Leliana informs me the café outside is a particular favourite of hers.”

“Sounds lovely.” She folded the report and tucked it into her coat before linking her arm with his and steering them from the prison.

The bright sunlight outside served to cheer her mood at little after the gloominess of the prison, and by the time they reached the café she was feeling somewhat better.

The maître d' greeted them in a thick Orlesian accent as they approached. “Ah, Inquisitor! Such an honour to welcome you to our humble café.”

“Thank you,” she replied politely. “Can you accommodate two for lunch?”

“Preferably somewhere under the shade?” Cullen grumbled good-naturedly beside her.

She resisted the urge to laugh as the maître d' showed them to a table in the corner but she couldn’t stop herself from shooting him an amused look.

“You know,” she remarked casually once the maître d’ had departed. “You probably don’t need the heavy, fur-lined, overly Ferelden-esque coat in sunny Val-Royeaux.”  

“And walk the street unprotected? No thanks.” His tone was still gruff but a smile twitched the corner of his mouth.

She raised an eyebrow. “Afraid of hidden daggers?”

He shrugged, and then shuddered melodramatically. “Orlesian noblewomen. As far as they’re concerned, the more layers the better.”

She laughed, remembering his (adorable) discomfort in Halamshiral and the ladies whom she hadn’t been able to blame in the slightest. After all, she had been just as guilty as they before she’d known that he returned her interest.

“But aren’t you unbearably hot?”

“I am comfortable enough,” he reassured her. “I’d be better if there were something vaguely resembling food on this menu. Es… Escar… Got… Escargot?” He stumbled over the pronunciation of the unfamiliar word. “What’s that?”

“Snails,” she replied, lips twitching at the frankly horrified expression that appeared on his face. “They’re nice!”

“I will pass, thank you. I’d much rather have an ordinary beef stew… But it looks as though I’m out of luck.”

“Just a little.” She scanned the list of fancy entrées and salads. “Perhaps we should just have some coffee and pastries and eat properly back at Skyhold?”

He shot her a grateful look over his menu and nodded his agreement. She chuckled and called the waiter over to give him their order.

When he departed, Cullen’s face darkened and he leant forwards, bracing his arms against the table. “So, Blackwall isn’t Blackwall it seems.”

She wanted to ignore him, relaxing back into her own chair to enjoy the feeling of the sun on her face. It felt like it had been so long since she’d had a moment just to rest, to be herself and not the Inquisitor. For a moment, laughing with Cullen, she’d quite forgotten the reason for their sojourn to Val Royeaux.

But she couldn’t deny the situation forever.

“So it seems,” she replied, vaguely casting her gaze about the café. Anywhere but his face. The weight of his eyes on her was practically palpable, and finally she had no choice but to turn her head to meet them.

“How do you feel about it?”

She shrugged, aiming for nonchalance but falling far short.

“Right now I don’t know what to think. I thought he was an honourable man. A hero. But he lied to me. Betrayed me.” She paused, idly picking up the salt shaker and twisting it in her hands. “Then he owned up to it. Sacrificed everything to save an innocent man. Does that make him an honourable man who made a mistake? Or a dishonourable one who did one thing right? I don’t know.” She was rambling, she knew, and shot him an apologetic smile, replacing the shaker in its stand. “What I do know, is that I want it to be us who judge him in the end.”  

He nodded. “We’ve earned that much.”

She studied him for a moment. He was being extraordinarily vague and, despite his questions, had yet to voice his own opinion on the matter.

“What would you do?” She asked him again, hoping to learn something of his thoughts.  

“I… I would prefer not to say.”

She frowned. It was unusual of him not to share his thoughts with her, and it made her afraid that he was hiding something. Did he just want to execute the man and be done with it?

“No! Maker no. Not like that,” he clarified, reading her expression correctly, it seemed. “I’ve been in the same position as Blackw… Rainier’s men. I would not have my own experiences and prejudices affect your decision in this matter.”

Realisation suddenly dawned on her. “You’re talking about Meredith.”

A pained expression immediately fell across his features, but he didn’t shy away from the topic.

“Meredith hid things from me. Told me only what she wished me to know, specifically, the things that would encourage my hatred. She knew that I respected and trusted the chain of command. Perhaps too much. She was not above using that against me.”

His gaze moved off into the distance for a moment, as if lost in memory, and she wanted to reach out for him. Then he blinked, shaking himself out of his trance.

“As I said. I’m not proud of the man I was back then, and though I cannot lay the blame entirely at Meredith’s feet, she did not aid matters.”

He shot her a sad half smile and she couldn’t resist any longer. Impulsively she stretched across the table, linking her fingers with his own and squeezing them gently. His smile grew a little warmer as he squeezed her fingers in return before they were forced to release their hold on each other by the waiter’s return.

“Your pastries,” he said, placing the silver cake stand on their table with exaggerated care.

She thanked him, barely waiting for him to leave before she grabbed one of the delicious little cakes. Cullen laughed, no doubt at her enthusiasm.

“Let’s forget about Blackwa... Rainier for the moment, shall we? Nothing more needs to be said or decided till we return to Skyhold.”

Her face lit up with a grateful smile. “Till Skyhold.”
