Might you possibly have any pictures, descriptions or other details about a Gish craft apron sold by Gish/ stands a year or so before the last scavenger hunt ever?
I do! It was available in the 2022 gishporium, and sold out within the first 24 hours- Gishers bought out the entire stock available from the manufacturers.
About a week and a half later, they announced that more would be produced and made available in the holiday shop that year. However, this never happened, most likely due to the decision to end Gish made being made some time in September or October 2022.
Aprons were $29.99 each.
Text from original listing:
100% cotton canvas / Adjustable straps with tie back
Approximately 36-38.5" width when laid flat, 27" height / Straps are each 30.5" long

Is there any record of what year GISH Diplomas were sent out? I'm missing several years I think, and I want to know which ones I should still be looking for.
The first gishploma was sent out in 2014, and there was one for every main hunt after that. (So 2014-2022)

Did they delete all of the GHOF sites?!?!
They moved some of them to the new gish site, but the old URLs don’t work any more- they changed from .php to .html
However, I and a few other volunteers went through and saved all the pages to the Wayback machine prior to the site shutting down.
I needed to step away and take a short break from Gish stuff, but I am planning to post with some links and detailed instructions to access the archived versions soon. Unfortunately I can’t currently say how soon that will be, as I’ve just had a death in the family.
But in the meantime, you can access them by going to archive.org and searching for the individual pages using the instructions here: gishwheshistorian.tumblr.com/GHOFnavigation

How do we see the GHOF by team name? The link just loops me back to the same page.
Which link? All the ones I’m seeing are going to the correct place on my end.
I will also add here that my pages are just lists of all the items that made it in to the HOF from each team- I’m not hosting all the images and videos anywhere. But you can use the information there to know where to look to find your own team’s items in the official HOF.

I've tried from the web and the tumbler app and I can't get the 2016 ghof link by team name to open. The other years, yes. Any suggestions?
Yes, that link is broken right now, I’m unfortunately away from a computer for the next couple days and can’t fix it until then. But you can access the page directly at gishwheshistorian.tumblr.com/2016ghof
Sorry for the confusion, I’ll be fixed Wednesday at the latest!

Hey! Sorry to be totally ignorant but is there a bookbash ghof or do you know if there will be?
At this time there is not a GHOF for Book Bash or the 2022 hunt, and we do not know if there will be one for either. If there is, I’ll definitely add pages for them here like I’m doing for the others!

Do you what "P.S. Item 208" at the end of the Team GISH "GISH Goodbyes" email refers to? As far as I can tell, the 2022 hunt only went up to 205.
It is a reference to one of the item lists, but not 2022- it's from 2021.
45 minutes before the end of the 2021 hunt, this was added to the item list:
208. We love you. (0 points)

Gish may be over, but the Historian will continue. All posts and pages on the site will remain, and new ones will still be added- next up are the 2021 GHOFs listed by team name (I should be ready to start posting those as early as later this week) in the meantime, you can take a stroll down memory lane and revisit past Gish hunt item lists here: http://gishwheshistorian.tumblr.com/itemlists or find lists from things like Halloweird and Gishmas past here: http://gishwheshistorian.tumblr.com/events
Updates and announcements regarding new pages going live on the historian will continue to be posted on our Twitter @GishHistorian, and I’ll also be continuing to post Gish trivia polls there as well, so watch that space to see them as soon as they’re live! <3

Note
What is the average number of items completed for previous winners?
Winning teams typically complete the vast majority of the list- but the team that wins might not necessarily be the team that completed the most items. The judges award bonus points for outstanding items, so those bonus points almost always are what separates the winning team from the Runner Ups- that's why quality of items is just as important as quantity!

Do we have access to the sockhop live stream from 2018? I was there, would love to see it!
I’m sorry, I do not- I wasn’t aware that there was a live stream for that event, I’m not sure how much of it was recorded.

It might limit the items you can choose to do, since some will require you to be in the photo or video. But there are so many to choose from that you should be fine.
If you want to do an item that will require you to appear in the pic or video, you can also wear a costume or mask to disguise yourself or shoot in a way that you’re face isn’t visible.
The team photo may be an issue, but they’ve said in the item description before that you can substitute a photo of Misha for team members that don’t respond- my team has also replaced ‘ghosts’ with pets and stuffed animals in the past.
You could also wear a face mask in your team pic and other items if you’re comfortable with that level of face visibility- there’s a commandment specifically saying you’re to follow covid guidelines, so your team won’t be docked points for wearing face masks in your submissions.:
“8b. Pandemic Restrictions. In light of the neverending parade of COVID-19 variants, ALL local and regional COVID-19 restrictions must be strictly observed, including but not limited to wearing a mask, social distancing, and frequent hand washing. Be safe and do not risk endangering yourself or others in your pursuit of GISH. “
I’d definitely let your team know beforehand, just so they’re aware and can work with you to make sure you have enough items to do that you’re comfortable with.
You’ll probably want to go for a just-for-fun team as well- they’re going to be a lot more laid-back, there’s less drive to complete a massive amount of items so odds are you’ll have more available items to choose from. (A super competitive team will typically be trying to complete every item in the list, so might have everyone trying to tackle 10-15 items each. A for fun is going to be a lot more laid back, so might aim for 3-5 per person— leaving a lot more items in the ‘unclaimed’ pile for everyone to choose from.)
Since for-fun teams are typically more focused on everyone just doing a few items at their own pace and not trying to get everything done, your team might not even want to worry about coordinating the team photo item.
You can also check out some previous item lists to get an idea of what the tasks will be like and get a feel for what items/types of items you’d feel comfortable doing. You can find all previous hunt item lists here.
soooo im thinking of doing gish. but will i have to show my face if i join? will that be necessary?
i don't think so? honestly i don't know much about gish. i only did it once but i was so confused at the time. I'm doing it this year as well with some friends and am going to try again bc they're seasoned and the last time i tried i was 24 and now I'm going to be 32 and with ADHD meds so i can go at it more xD
but i don't think you'll have to show your face. your team members may want to see you but I'm sure there are tasks you can sign up for that don't require showing your face!

Do you have a copy of the GISH 2020 Halloween Zoom with Rhys Darby by any chance?
Sadly, no. That was one of the two Halloween zooms that wasn’t made public on the @gish YouTube channel after the event (the other was Scaryoga, which was made public this January).
Hopefully it will be made public soon, and if it does I’ll be adding it to my page for all the Halloween Zooms here: https://gishwheshistorian.tumblr.com/october2020minihuntzoom
Fingers crossed it shows up some day- it was definitely a favorite of me and my team and I’d love to watch it again!
