Van is there for purely for the love of the music and because her nerd stoner niche movie guy friend who wears women's jeans dragged her to a show once. Nat is on the bus back to the yard to take the train home and has the cd for some band called "Thursday" which was the reason the basement was being capped that day. she Shauna and Jackie, get on about to head out to some frat and their like "what's Nat doing here, Nat, she doesn't even go here" drunkenly. and then Nat just awkwardly gets off the bus and laughs it off and lights the last cig in her pack.

was kinda thinking about this when I saw Renee Rapp live recently-- I didn't know her visual vibe, I'd heard a few songs here and there but I hadn't really *seen* her, and her attire at Osheaga was really casual, a jersey (baseball/basketball?) and slacks. And that was so amazing! I couldn't help thinking, the work Billie Eilish has done for how women in pop music are allowed to dress is incredible. Seeing her up there all comfortable you just know that Billie walked in her oversized tops so that Renee in her slacks could run; Billie walked through all the critcisms about how she dressed slobbily and having to assert that she didn't owe anyone a display of skin, so that Renee could be comfortable and unquestioned running up and down the catwalk in front of 10,000 people. How iconic.

And I don't think we even realised at the time how much something as simple as letting Billie dress the way she as a (then-) 17-year-old teenager dressed, could end up meaning for a future generation of women in music.

Obviously there is still way to go, there were weirdos complaining about how 'plain' Dua Lipa's Glastonbury outfit was this year (in 2024!!), l have to ask, are you at Paris Fashion Week?? She is the musical HEADLINER of an entire day of music at one of the biggest music festivals in the world, and you can't grant her the space to exist as an artist, you have to moan about her dress not being excitingly revealing enough. There's work to do, it's still dismal out there. But the space Billie Eilish has created for a most ordinarily-dressed woman popstar is still heartening.

Brain worms so bad....

Still rolling nowhere king Khan around but. Nowhere king Khan from a different universe. He got pulled to Hisui against his will and was trying to go home. The Akari from his universe was pulled along with him and they were family. Khan was trying to get her home. To keep her safe. He destroyed himself for her but they both ended up stuck. Khan became a monster and Akari couldn't stop him. When the Khan from this universe arrives, trying to help Ingo get home, she's livid and jealous. This universe's Khan made it. This universe's Akari made it. They made a family. She and Khan, her Khan, had tried, to find others, but they were so constantly ostracized that their only companions were pokemon.

She's happy for them as much as she hates them. Her only family has completely lost his mind and there is no future he will ever survive in. And when he offers his head to her, waits to be killed, that Akari thinks about how her older brother tried so hard to get them back. To take them home. That he loved a sibling he wasn't related to so dearly he destroyed himself instead. And as much as she's angry and hurt, she can't kill him. She cant.

He's not going to give her a second chance.

being 15 in the fairy tail rp community and running a Cana blog was such an interesting time. I was blissfully unaware of inflation anons. People would kill your muse in a thread with no warning. I didn’t even have a rules page.

So, having given up on the book that was vexing me a couple days ago I'm now reading Unmask Alice and it's killing meeeee

Things I knew: Go Ask Alice is not a real diary; subsequent anonymous diaries were also super fake; it's not even an especially good fake if you are not a suburban parent in the 70s who has never encountered The Drugs; there was some deeply hinky stuff going on with the author's subsequent fake diaries

Things I didn't know: Beatrice Sparks was Mormon. She grew up in Logan. She lived in Provo at the time she wrote the diaries

This book literally opens with "I know we're all used to being able to look up what we're doing to find out where it's going but I think you'll have a better time if you don't."

I have not obeyed this directive. I know this guy doesn't have the information I need. He isn't going to bother to tell me the name of the restaurant in Logan she worked at as a teen. He isn't going to tell me where in Provo her house was. He won't bother with whether her and her husband were eventually sealed in the temple in their lifetime, or if they were just kinda passively next to the church but not doing much about it

I went on familysearch trying to find this information. I went DEEP. I also FAILED. but. all attempts to search HER got me a 404 error. Searching her mother and getting to her page via the family tab DID work. which is all very suspicious to me...
