I was listening to the student radio this morning, always very fun, I don't mean it in a patronizing way, I genuinely like to hear students and I miss being around them, anyway,

they were having a whole discussion about digital art vs physical art and how they know someone or heard about someone who said, once they take a picture of art, they don't care what happens to it, and then they got into a thing about paintings vs. pictures of paintings and texture ("like people who say Rothko is boring when they've only seen pictures. I've actually never seen a Rothko in person but I believe people [who report they're good]").

I wrote in to the station like "please tell them to read The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" hopefully they will give it a look and enjoy it.

so you know the American Girl books (important cultural touchstones for little history nerd girls), well when I was a kid there were 7 that I had in a box set, then the 8th one was the Nez Perce girl they introduced, and then I aged out, WELL, there is now a Jewish American Girl and presumably doll, lovely, I checked out some of the books at the library today for my Children's Literature Reading Project (Self-Imposed) and, the Jewish American Girl (TM):

is named Rebecca (fine), lives in New York in 1914 (fair!), is involved in labor activism (also fairly representative), and dreams of becoming an ACTRESS (lmao. also the dream of many girls but we are really grabbing everything, huh?).

apparently the fastest way to make me so uncontrollably angry that it starts the self-harm loop in my head is to stick me in an unfixable technology loop. log in -> log in again in this other application -> enter this PIN -> log in -> etc and you can't proceed because it times out in something like a captcha that won't load...... after about 5-7 minutes of this I start having hard-to-manage visions of cutting my own arms. lol and lmao, this happened not because of any urgent need but because I was trying to help my stepson set up minecraft. killing Bill Gates with my mind because microsoft's locked-in proprietary bullshit is the reason this is happening
