Does anyone here draw in both desktop & mobile? I'm planning to get a galaxy tab at some point and since I don't really have any experience drawing on a (mobile) tablet, I'm curious abt how it feels to draw on one vs. drawing on pc w/ a graphic tablet 🤔

im gonna be serious here for a moment and say that there is a real problem with the safety of mobile homes/trailer homes in severe weather and it needs to be talked about more i think

yes, they offer affordable housing for tons of people (i am one of them!) but they offer pretty much no protection in tornados above an EF0.

permanent homes are destroyed from the top down. mobile homes fail from the bottom, from their supports, causing them to be VERY EASILY swept away and mangled into twisted metal, piping and insulation.

despite only 6% of the US living in mobile homes, MORE THAN 50% OF DEATHS IN TORNADOS OCCUR THERE. (63.2% as of august 23rd, 2023)

in my situation, we have one storm shelter in our park. we have over 250 trailers and granted, not every single one is occupied, but there could be 2-4 people in one residence. you expect EVERY SINGLE ONE of them to go to ONE storm shelter? my mom and grandma depend on oxygen, and they've told me many times that if we have to go to the shelter they would rather me and my dad go than to haul their heavy oxygen tanks in the car and help them rush to it. they told me to leave them there. it is a death sentence. not to mention there are many people here who do not KNOW there's a tornado coming until the sirens go off. they could realize it too late, get caught in their car rushing to the shelter.

and yes. a violent tornado could hit literally any state in america. tornados can hit Canada, Germany, China.. a PRETTY good chunk of the earth can. i won't list every country but it's worth looking into.

anyways. yeah. idk why im suddenly so livid and passionate about this topic but i don't think my feelings are unjustified.

and while you do not HAVE to reblog this, it would be really cool if it reached a large audience. severe weather deaths are rare, injuries are uncommon, but they are not zero. and they are preventable.

I'm really concerned about old xian's health. Sitting behind a computer for long period of times can cause serious damage to your body especially your neck, back, shoulder and wrist. And many comic artists and mangakas are suffering from it after drawing for many years and old xian has been drawing for more than 7 years. I remember they used to update every seven days and more regularly, but now they're taking longer breaks, and it's taking a longer time to get a new update, and recently it seems like old xian takes a break after updating two chapters.

I hope old xian take break as much as they need, I don't want them to hospitalized from over work😥🙏🏻

cheated slightly bc some of my last 10 fics were started like...over a decade ago (help) and my writing has changed a bit since then, so i included the most recent chapter too

how certain the journey (AOGG): "What does that mean?" Una asks. "'Wounded and missing.'" / The train rumbles steadily around them as they pass through Quebec, the sun beginning to set on this leg of the journey.

you said you like my stockings better on the floor (AOGG): It's snowing on the Island, Di had written last week, but not here in Toronto — instead it is only pouring freezing rain, threatening to storm.

the more that you say, the less i know (Uglies): David is on watch when he feels it.

there's another, not a sister (AOGG): The first dream comes the night after he sees a shell go off.

the clocks are black (Midnighters): Dess sighs, rubbing her eyes, trying to push sleep away.

leave me the way i was before (Uglies): David sees Shay again in the last place he thought he would, stumbling around the forest on the edge of the city.

think i could try this once again (Midnighters): For the first time in her life, Melissa is woken up by knocking on her bedroom door.

it looks like i feel like "setting the scene" usually means either jumping in right before the action starts or laying out the scene by describing the weather (lol). also generally my opening sentences are shorter than the rest of my sentences, although they're still not super short or punchy usually.

also i guess i tend to start in the POV of the same characters (walter for aogg, dess in midnighters, and david for uglies), which i didn't notice i did so consistently! i think it's bc i mostly write romance where canonically, only one half of the pairing has feelings (una for walter, shay for david) and i like to write about the other half's perspective as they grow to return those feelings. so that's the reason for that, haha.

Okay so I barely practiced and made it to regionals like once so im NOT the expert here but uh headcanoning that Jess did air rifle when she was a teen. Like idk if it would be as part of a team like with a high school (what I'm familiar with) vs like an individual thing vs like a travel/competitive team (it depends on the sitch in her area growing up) but she definitely went to some national matches (probably including JOs/JO quals like i think she was GOOD). I think she probably would have quit competitively following a bad shot at nationals (relatable) along with anxiety about competition (ALSO relatable) but still kept up with shooting casually for fun and relaxation and to hang out with friends etc.

She definitely would have shot smallbore competitively too but I never did that bc I was lazy so idk to much abt it competitively
