They do! In fact this is pretty much the height of their Ninpo strength. Remember this?? This is where they're at right now!

We'll get to see some of this soon. I'm really excited to dive into more of their abilities. Got some ideas on how their powers have evolved that I've yet to see utilized within the fandom. Like... what ELSE could Mikey do other than just use chains to throw things? How else could Leo use portals both defensively and offensively? It's a fun puzzle to ponder. I just hope I can do the upcoming action sequences justice because I really... really... don't do them ever. Pray for me.

been playing around with the idea of mikey still being left alone in the beginning (obv with a much smaller chompy and ice cream kitty) and then finding some early meerkat village. they help him out maybe in contrast to previous groups being hostile and thats why they specifically get the map. they only way i can think of him getting the location and road markings is some form of astral projection?? like projecting to the oasis and making his way back to himself. but i dont think thats how it works. but who cares

As much as I love and agree that Mikey is the one with the most mystic talent, it makes me kind of sad that I don't see a lot of appreciation for his brothers own mystics.

Nothing in canon says Mikey's brothers would not train more with their ninpo or that their powers are weaker than Mikey's if I remember correctly. After all in the movie it was Mikey who opened the portal yeah, WITH RAPH AND DONNIE.

Mikey was the conduct but the other two also used their power to help.

And they all have made some amazing stuff with it, Donnie basically fused mystics and his own tech. Raph alongside Mikey took easily to his mystic weapon and I barely see any talk about his clones. WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT HIS CLONES

And can yall imagine what kind of precision and timing is required of Leo to make his portals work like he does? By the movie's final battle he is basically moving his brothers in and out and placing them where they need to be. AND THEY TRUST HIM TO TAKE THEM THERE.

We don't know how the magic system works in theor world but maybe they would be talented in specific areas.

I just like all the brothers being in contact with their ninpo since it's basically powered by familial love and something that connects them all in a whole new way.

So far my favorite symbolism (besides her being the sacred to his profane, Raksha's a Holy Inquisitor after all) is how Raphael describes her as "strong as mistral wind, as fickle as the sea itself" because he's the opposite with the whole being a Devil with fire, hell and all of that.

He wants to control, chain her to him but also loves her strong personality and independence. Which is why when she eventually goes into hiding to escape him he becomes full on obsessed to find her (but still, in his words, "I can't bring myself to hate you").

Back to Donnie, he is currently in the process of trying to get himself out of this suddenly very bad situation! He tries to reason with the Draxums very briefly before realizing that that tactic is never gonna work.

So Donnie has no choice other than to try another more desperate tactic...

Which obviously doesn't go very well either because we all know that Donnie cannot lie to save his life! Leo immedietly calls bullshit, Donnie is seemingly in a hopeless situation, but this is where April finally shows up!

Off screen April ran off to that room in Draxum's lair that's full of weapons, she may be impulsive enough to jump in front of three really strong turtle-warriors and their even stronger sheep-warrior-dad, but she's not impulsive enough to do it unarmed! And also I know that in the show she uses some type of club-like thing but I like it when she uses a bat so she picked a bat this time, whatever-

Anyway, while April heard a small part of the conversation where Draxum was explaining their evil plan, she's unaware of most of the Big Lore Dump that Donnie just recieved, luckily for her though, Donnie very helpfully informs her of everything that she missed out on!

....okay well damn I guess maybe Donnie isn't that bad at lying.... or Raph and Mikey are a little bit gullible but who knows!

Ough the self deprecating from each turtle and their different perspectives on what happened is perfect. Leo being nothing without his brothers, Raph wanting to be stronger to protect them, Donnie believing hes just the tech guy and Mikey feeling out of place. I can already see the potential for first.

And this bishop... she's a bishop alright, or well, similar to 03 bishop in wanting to eliminate all mutants, a "human threat" while also ending up endangering humans in their attempts. Same motives for different reasons. Mutants(or really a mutant) destroyed what she loved, something for her sister who I'm not sure is dead or she just really loves her.

One thing I must thank my turtle posters for is so far no 2012apriltello/caseytello/capriltello or whatever love story equivalent with the leopril. It's so refreshing and actually is very cute. Leo still has a crush it's just not blasted into your eyes, and I couldn't be more happy.

They included alot of possibly forgotten characters(I say possibly because some haven't watch the older versions, and thats okay), there is Angel who reminds me alot of Kendra, Hun appears again as a possible bro to Raph, ofc pigeon pete Michelangelo's son(I will not explain) and you already heard of bishop. There's probably more but I'm only half way in and I took a break to get some food.

If you can, you should watch it, it's very fun and silly, also, possible angst. The music is great, and the art and animation are fan-fucking-tastic like, holy shit, but that's to be expected (if you plan to watch it, read tags plz)

S3 could be brought back as a retro show in the future, but it probably wouldn't happen anytime soon (focus is on mutant mayhem at the moment)

it was never decided whether capril would be friends or girlfriends (due to rise's focus on platonic relationships)

council of heads! they're in power, but a lot of influential yokai (like big mama) aren't easily controlled, and "game the system"

despite not having his dual katana, supposedly f!leo DOES still have mystic powers

ron corcillo would love to see a spin-off focused on the caseys (if rise were ever continued), and likes the potential of a raph + casey vigilante duo

the turtles got their names after splinter's love for renaissance art

big mama's henchman WAS planned to be the missing sister, and rather than venus de milo, she would've been named after a female artist (possibly frida kahlo)

for halloween: raph dressed up as a kitten, mikey as a lion, leo as a rockstar, and donnie as j. robert oppenheimer

the mystic weapons stolen from draxum acted as a conduit to help the boys unlock their innate mystic powers with a "little boost"

they didn't realise mayhem's potential as a character/force until too late, but it could've been fun to do some stories of him being an operative (a la perry the platypus)

there weren't any planned stories for side villains (aside from the foot's cupcake shop), most focus was on the turtles

not much on casey jr's backstory, just that cass and the turtles were fighting the krang and leo raised him as a warrior. casey jr only has brief memories of cass from when he was very young, and was mostly raised by leo

there were definitely six baby turtles (two sisters)! and the turtles were gonna split up to rescue the one with big mama and the one in "the dimension", but they never planned much of it out

there's most likely a time gap between the rescuing leo and the ending scene of the movie, as "after a fight like that, [everyone] would definitely crash and need some recovery time"

there would've been more big mama in future episodes, and stinkbomb was planned to return

since the turtles became known to the public at the end of the movie, they'd have to fight to retain their reputation. this and their reception to criticism/backlash would've become a major arc.

on brother rankings: mikey is definitely raph's favourite, and they all look up to raph

the stronger someone's ninpo is, the greater the drain on their energy is (as seen with f!mikey and karai)

there wouldn't be much threat on villains going after casey jr's future intel, because most of it would've been rendered obsolete

nickelodeon would never give up the rights to rise, but they could license it to a partner company (such as IDW for a comic!)

as previously mentioned, the 2nd sister would've been trapped in "another dimension" and venus/frida would have to be won over by "helping her see that she had been brainwashed [by big mama] as a child" (and redeemed)

given more time, the show would've fleshed out: the hamato story, the hidden city's origins (krang spaceship that crashed into the crying titan being the source of the ooze, its fuel being what gave the yokai mystic powers), and would've used the rat king (who ron corcillo would've liked to be a powerful yokai with rat-like abilities and some form of mind control, who could've threatened the council of heads for power in the hidden city)

as far as we know, the turtles (aside from leo's spanish) only speak english (and even their english is sometimes a bit off)

rise probably wouldn't have ever "gone dark", but after the turtles were publicly known and full-time heroes, it might've had more of an extended plotline

the turtle's casual clothes somewhat reflect their music tastes (r&b for raph, glam rock for leo, techno (and 80s) for donnie and boy band for mikey)

future heights: mikey grew a bit and then shrunk under mystic strain, leo was at least 6ft, donnie a little taller than leo, and raph at least 6'6

mikey's powers could get pretty intense, which could've resulted in some multiverse episodes (ron corcillo would be most inclined to do a 12 crossover, but any could work). while leo portals short distances, mikey's cross space and time (with great effort)

given more time, how the turtles met april would've been fleshed out

in terms of how they take after splinter: donnie and leo have a lot of his cockiness, raph his courage and sense of duty, and mikey senses him missing his family (which is part of the reason of why he tries to hold everyone together)

given more time they would've done more with the transfer of leadership from raph to leo (and originally the plan was to draw that out over S3, rather than the abrupt S2 ending). they would've been co-leaders for a while, and at times mikey or donnie would lead (they aren't really a group with just one leader archetype)

there were plans for april to have more time with the specific turtles other than donnie (like how the gumbus was focused on her mikey and leo)

the cast's mystic abilities would've increased over time, and splinter has a lot of power that hasn't been revealed (as he spent a lot of time in the hidden city in his past)

venus/frida would've been very disciplined and so serious that's she's funny, and the dimension sister would've been "a little kooky"

there weren't really any plans on how the turtles would look in cloaked human forms, just that they'd resemble lou jitsu and may be inspired by their VAs

mikey is the only brother who can fully pull all his limbs and head into his shell (being a box turtle)

any usagi appearances would be a rights matter, and depend on collaboration

on timelines: april is 16 at the start of the series and 18 in the movie, but exactly how much time passes isn't confirmed

Draxum works in tandem with Leo to watch over Donnie’s health. But Leo let’s Draxum take the lead. They’re more worried about the immediate concerns, like Donnie’s fever, and mental health. His ninpo will grown stronger once those things are addressed. Splinter is pulled in five different directions. Donnie is his main focus, but Raph, April, and Mikey are ignoring their own health and need to be watched closely as well. He’s trusting Draxum in the first few days, and provided support where he’s better suited. They will all be needed at some point. Splinter knows this will be a looooong recovery, and keeps trying to remind the others that they need to rest too.

They weren’t that bothered by the idea, when Kendra pitched it. But seeing how wrecked Donnie became, they started to feel bad. Which is why, when the family saves Donnie, Jeremy and Jason grab all of Donnie’s tech and find Raph to return it. Jeremy even grabbed S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N.’s AI chip and removed all of Kendra mods. Donnie will still have to rebuild him, but he will be just like before.

More fanart for @somerandomdudelmao's apocalyptic series! This line hit me so hard as Raph saying 'again' has such a heavy weight to it, I just had to draw something about it!! Decided to go more of a heart-warming approach instead of heart-wrenching lol Elaboration spiel incoming: I have no idea what the color of Casey's outfit I used in the second drawing are supposed to be, so I made some up. Nothing too groundbreaking except for his cape. I thought it'd be a fun, cool thing that Raph's old cape was ripped and made into Casey's cape since his brothers new that Casey was so attached to him at such a young age. Raph's cape being given to him, most likely by Leo, and leading to him being told more about him as he had forgotten him. This could also link to this episode part in the series where Casey says, "Raph.. like.. the actual Raphael I've heard so much about from Sensei??" The glow and effects are supposed to represent their bond, you can even think it's Raph's ninpo emitting, I guess. In the first one, you can tell that their bond is strong and bright. In the second one, it's dim and weak as Raph realizes Casey doesn't remember him. Doesn't have that spark of recognition, from Raph being a robot and Casey being so young. In the third one, it's more of a reconnect, not what it used to be but is there nonetheless and will only continue to grow. And with Casey having the refresher of his earliest of memories, his connection with Raph is only stronger.

When Raph first met you, he didn’t know what to make of you. You were certainly unique—long, multi-colored hair that seemed to glow under the lair’s fluorescent lights, a bubbly personality that clashed with his tough-guy demeanor, and an aura of joy that was almost infectious.

But what really threw him off was the first time he saw you fight.

It was a routine patrol when the Kraang ambushed you and the turtles. Raph had expected to step in and protect you—after all, you didn’t exactly look like a fighter. But before he could charge in, you grabbed a Kraang droid by the arm, swung it over your shoulder, and sent it flying into a wall.

“Whoa!” Mikey yelled, nearly dropping his nunchucks.

“Where the shell did that come from?” Raph blurted, staring at you.

You dusted off your hands, smiling brightly. “Oh, I’ve always been strong. Comes in handy when fighting bad guys!”

Raph blinked, completely thrown off. You were stronger than you looked—stronger than him, even—and yet you carried yourself with such lightheartedness that it was hard to reconcile the two.

As time went on, Raph found himself intrigued by your quirks.

During a movie night at the lair, you polished off slice after slice of pizza without breaking a sweat.

“Damn, you eat like Mikey,” Raph said, watching as you reached for another slice.

He smirked, shaking his head. “You’re somethin’ else.”

Then there were your outfits.

You had a habit of wearing bright, pastel-colored clothes that clashed hilariously with the dark, gritty atmosphere of the lair. Raph wasn’t sure whether to admire your boldness or shake his head in disbelief.

“You ever heard of stealth?” he asked one day, gesturing to your neon-pink jacket.

You grinned, twirling around to show off the outfit. “Stealth is overrated. Besides, I like feeling cute!”

Raph rolled his eyes, but he couldn’t hide the small smile tugging at his lips.

What really solidified Raph’s feelings for you, though, was a quiet moment in the lair.

He noticed you constantly tugging at your socks during training. They never stayed up, no matter how many times you adjusted them. At first, he didn’t think much of it, but the more he watched, the more it started to bother him.

The next time he went topside, he made a stop at a store and picked out a pair of long, durable socks. They weren’t flashy—just a simple black pair.

mikey naturally has more upper-body strength, but he also just prefers to train his arms. id say generally he is the strongest of the guys

raph's position in the team is actually more defensive, but when offensive, he fights with his legs and trains them more. man never skips leg day. definitely interesting when mikey and raph roughhouse because their biggest strengths are opposite!

donnie is stronger than leo but weaker than raph and mikey, focusing more on applying his tech to fighting. aka working smarter not harder

leo is certainly not weak, but he's still outmatched by his brothers in raw strength. instead, he masters technique and is able to beat them due to actually knowing what the heck hes doing lol

And like the friend took the rejection well and is trying to move on, though theres a bit of tension as the friend is subtly trying to avoid like being alone or like to close physically with their turtle crush so as to not make them uncomfortable and even gets on a dating app (with 0% success there lol) They atleast hide their still very much there feelings and are good at not being obvious they are still down bad for the turtle.

💙 He misses old times quite a bit, and when he sees the obvious signs that you’re still into him, he’s a mess. Man is just a goddamn mess. Like what’s he supposed to do in this situation? He’s heavily considering talking to you about this but he’s also very scared too.
