Rainfall on Camlann
Who's left to cry for Mordred
Stranger in his father's court
As the distant sun grows heavy
In the sky above the fort
Who's left to cry for Mordred
When the tale draws to its end
No one left to mourn the heartbreak
That was far too great to mend
Who's left to cry for Mordred
As he stumbles through the dead
As his world falls through his fingers
Hands so slick and stained in red
Who's left to cry for Mordred
On that lonesome Camlann Hill
Left shattered on the silent earth
His body, cold and still
Who's left to cry for Mordred
When, at last, his fight is done
As the curtain falls on Camelot
One last bow for Arthur's son

MORDRED-
Tumblr media
To tie you over until the official update, and to reward everyone for being so patient, here is the complete first scene of the next update, picking just after MC left with Saraah.
SPOILER
Camelot, the King’s private chambers
Arthur fixes once again the cape around his shoulders.
“How do I look?” he asks, turning around.
Tristan steps forward, his movements measured and heavy, posture rigid as it almost always is. He is Arthur’s oldest Round Table Knight, and he bears the sign of age as well as numerous scars acquired during his years close to King Uther. The majority of them aren’t battle scars, but Arthur doesn’t allow themselves to think about it, because it would surely make the spiral.
“You look like a King.”
Despite the cool tone of his voice, bordering on detached formality, his words bring Arthur a sort of soothing comfort that is there regardless of the meaning of the words themselves. Even that is only temporary, though. Arthur’s lips curve up in a hesitant, slightly strained smile.
“Will it be enough?”
Tristan takes a step forward. Slowly, just brushing him, he fixes a stray lock of his King’s hair.
“Yes, it will. It needs to be.”
The discomfort, though, doesn’t lessen around Arthur’s insides. Instead, it only grows when Tristan lowers his arm and takes a step back. Immediately, he misses the contact. His mind buzzes in the same way it did when, trembling, he would walk at night towards the Knights barracks and seek Ser Tristan’s embrace after what his father put him through.
He doesn’t-
He-
Suddenly, Tristan is holding him again. His body isn’t warm, the armour poking Arthur in a way it could become uncomfortable if not for the way the static slowly leaves his brain, leaving a mess of uncertainty and fear behind.
Arthur buries his face in the crook of the older knight’s neck. “I don’t know what to do...”
“You are doing everything Uther would not have done,” Tristan says, evenly. Arthur feels the warm caress of validation on his prickling skin.
Tristan would know.
He lets the silence stretch for a few moments before he murmurs, in a hushed confession, “they are a battle mage. The one who disfigured Bedivere.”
Tristan doesn’t pull away from the embrace yet; even though these days his physical contacts with the King are much shorter in length than they were when he was a terrified child. Arthur soaks up his presence now, while he can.
“The Venegard child?” Tristan asks.
Arthur nods against his neck.
“I will speak of it with them soon. Otherwise, they will rightfully think-“ Arthur’s voice fades.
“…my father would have put them-” he starts to say, voice trembling and cracking on the last word. Anticipating their anxious, spiralling thoughts, Tristan pulls back, though leaving a hand on the King’s arm.
“None of that. He is dead and buried. As for you, don’t burden yourself with more than you can carry.”
Arthur exhales. The weight that has settled heavily on his stomach doesn’t lessen.
“Just as the kingdom is my responsibility, my spouse is my responsibility as well.”
The older knight is about to answer when a knock interrupts him. Arthur wipes his face, curving his lips in a slightly wobbly smile and calling, “yes?”
Ser Ector enters first, placing himself at Tristan’s side and leaving space for Mordred to approach Arthur. Some of the previous stress is replaced by tenderness at the sight of him so put together, face set in a formal expression.
“Oh, look at you,” Arthur can’t resist his cooing. “Are you all set?”
Modred nods, solemn. He stays silent, as he often does, though Arthur has to say that he has been quite less closed off around his soon to be spouse. It might be a naïve hope, but he still does wish for Mordred to grow closer with them. Arthur has tried his best but… obviously, if Mordred feels comfortable around someone, even if it isn’t him, he will welcome it with open arms.
“The Venegard child is about to enter the Chamber of Lords,” Ector announces, ever so direct.
Arthur inhales, straightening himself up as much as he is able to.
“Well then. We shall go. It wouldn’t do to be late to my own wedding.”

The way I will die with this on my mind. Okay but why can’t I find ONE gif set of Merlin, Arthur, and Mordred around their little campfire in 5x09???? I wish I was talented.
I want to talk about Merlin. RIP to all you, but s5 Merlin is my MAN. He’s an absolute jackass. Not even a bitch anymore. He’s a fucking DICK and he learned it from the literal king himself. Arthur’s personality not only rubbed off on Merlin so badly, but it was compounded by Merlin’s actual fucking ego. The way I love this man…
Merlin is so hostile to Mordred and he’s not even shy about it, and poor Mordred can’t do anything about it bc not only does Merlin have the King’s ear (which Merlin is not afraid to flaunt) but also he’s way more powerful than him.
The way Merlin’s head SNAPPED to Mordred’s when Mordred laughed at Arthur’s joke. The way Merlin gives Mordred the tiniest most hostile smile and glare when he’s agreeing with Arthur about being happy Mordred is with them. The way the MUSIC stutters and clicks like Merlin’s a goddamn monster in the shadows when Merlin agrees. Mordred is literally pissing his pants.
Merlin’s fucking reaction when Mordred has the AUDACITY to approach him when Arthur goes to Gwen. His nonchalant hostility with his fucking neck and shoulder roll. He’s making such a show of lazy power it’s insane. It’s Merlin’s actual personality that he doesn’t have to hide. In 4x08, Merlin has to play cowed with the knights bc they don’t know about his magic. He has to position himself submissively when he gets into that argument with Gwaine but here Merlin doesn’t have to pretend. Merlin is not someone you can intimidate. He is the most powerful sorcerer ever and he knows it.

Is it really accurate to use the word "selfless" to describe Merlin?
"Selfless" is a word with an undeniable good "white" connotation and when it comes to Merlin, I don't think we can say something is black or white in its entirety. So this question is kind of tricky and, honestly, far too complicated to answer it with a simple and short yes or no.
Let me elaborate.
He was not selfish when it came to himself as a person —that part is right— as he never hesitated in giving his life for others, always helped his friends no matter what, never seeked power nor recognition for himself, etc.
Tumblr media
But I do think he was selfish, extremely so at times, when it came to his own self-interests. The main one being Arthur's safety and wellbeing.
And why do I say this? Let's go back to memory lane and remember some of his decisions throughout the show!
1. He condemned (heartbrokenly, I'll give him that) his whole kin to continue living in the shadows and most probably to be executed if they were caught practicing magic in Camelot just so Mordred could die and Arthur could live by extension.
Tumblr media
2. Talking about Mordred, he never gave him the chance to prove himself trustworthy and loyal to Arthur, he just decided he was evil since he saw he was destined to kill his friend instead of trying to change that outcome or understand where would that could come from.
Tumblr media
3. He lied to Arthur about himself and what he was for the whole decade they knew each other so Arthur wouldn't feel bad for choosing him over his father when he found out about his magic. Or viceversa.
Tumblr media
4. He always put Arthur's life before any other's, including his closest friends: remember when he repeatedly tried to talk Arthur out of going to save them from Morgana because he was worried about him as the druid seer showed him he was going to be killed by a man aka Mordred?
Tumblr media
5. He lied to Arthur about his mother and what Uther did to conceive him (he also robbed him that unique and beautiful moment he shared with his mom), something he had all the right to know, so Arthur wouldn't kill Uther and hate himself for it for the rest of his life.
Tumblr media
6. He took Arthur's free will away from him so he would agree to everything Merlin said and he could take him out of the castle and save his life when Morgana and Agravaine attacked.
Tumblr media
And I could go on, honestly, but I won't because I fear some people might take this as a hating post towards Merlin, which it definitely is not lol. Quite the contrary, actually! I understand and, to a certain point even love, all the decisions Merlin took because it just proved the inmensity of his love for Arthur.
So if I mention all this is because, despite having honorable goals —as saving someone's life (Arthur's) or sparing them the possibility of feeling irrevocably guilty for taking a life-altering decision when their heads were clouded by anger, sadness and fear— the means he used to do all that were highly questionable to say the least: lies, deceiving, manipulation, mind-control and so on are, in no way, justifiable.
They are just not.
But we fans decide to brush those aside and accept them because we understand that it all came out from a place of love. Pure, huge, raw and unwavering love. Although, that still doesn't make it right. Not really.
I will dare to say it actually makes it worse.
Love is a complicated and, may I say, dangerous feeling. It can make us feel happier, confident with oursleves, adventurous and giddy. But it can also make us stupid, blind and selfish.
And that's exactly what it did to Merlin.
He came to a point where he stopped caring about his destiny and focused only on saving Arthur's life, others be damned, just because he loved him too much and he couldn't bare to lose him.
And unfortunately at the end, it was that love, and the King's complete and blind trust in Merlin, that got Arthur dead.
Tumblr media
To sum it up, I don't think there's a better way to describe Merlin than to say he was a whole spectrum of greys. A constant paradox of selflessness and selfishness. Another victim of love.
Anyway, he was far from perfect but that's exactly why I love him! He could come as the most selfless person at first glance (and to a certain degree, he was; although I think the word sacrificial suits him even better) but if you really look at it, specially from a canon era outsider POV, he could rather come as a selfish, powerful man that wouldn't hesitate in destroying you if it means he can save Arthur's life with that.
He was truly unhinged when it came to his other half and that's exactly why he's my second most favorite fictional character ever created!
**The first one being Dean Winchester, another unhinged man that couldn't live without his baby brother and would burn the whole world willingly only to keep Sammy safe!
Tumblr media
Huh.
Now that I think about it.
Maybe I have a type?

Wtf Kal? Picturing my MC slipping off the metal armband Adrei gave her and giving it to Mordred only for Mordred to say that,,, I’m tearing the fuck up
The sacrificing asks just have me thinking about a late teen/early adult Mordred having to see the mc sacrifice themself for Camelot/Arthur (not actually watching them die but knowing that when they leave, Mordred won’t see them alive again) and the mc just smiling at him, taking his face in their hands and telling him they never loved anything or anyone more, maybe giving them a necklace/ring/bracelet of theirs from before Camelot and leaving for the last time.
Mordred would cling to them and bury his face in their neck like a baby desperately clinging to their parental figure. He would sob against MC and beg them, almost incoherently, beg the universe, not wanting to be left alone.
He would cradle the object to his chest, with reddened eyes, saying in a broken voice. "I don't want this. I want you." While holding it with the outmost care and desperation.
Tumblr media
He would be devastated by learning that one of his loved ones had to make such a choice, and horrified in learning that MC is gone. He would probably go hide in his room for a long time, inconsolable but at the same time leaning in any kind of comfort anyone offers him (especially Arthur) because the pain is almost unbearable.

What is the big difference between regular Riku and black mask Riku? Like what changed in his story to change his motivations and methods?
Thanks for the ask :]
So Black Mask AU (or Black Captain/Dark Captain I haven't entirely settled on a name) is a new game plus AU and that's important to explain the changes in his motivations!
The AU starts exactly the same as Captain, Riku moves to Tokyo, Hatanaka is a piece of shit to him, he meets the thieves and they start investigating her palace. However this time round, something in the palace goes wrong and the thieves end up failing the deadline. And failing the deadline for Hatanaka's palace... results in Riku's death :] (putting it shortly Riku is more useful to her dead than alive so she has him killed)
That should have been the end of him, however he wakes up immediately after getting shot. After being understandably disorientated he realizes he's somehow been transported to 2/3 years prior to the events of Captain (a couple of months before he was due to move to Tokyo) and he has all his memories intact, right up until the point he was shot.
This understandably messes him up a lot because he went through hell and on top of that he remembers everything he learnt during Hatanaka's palace (I won't go into much of that as its spoilers for the main AU). He also decides to go into the Metaverse in Port Island because he still has access to it, and its here he awakens to his black mask persona (Mordred who I ADORE lmao) and where he first kills someone (albeit by accident).
As for his motivations someone put it really well once, spite in general is a huge motivator for Riku in both AUs! Black Mask Riku basically takes the idea of him being motivated by spite to a whole new level, as his main goal in the AU is to get revenge on those who wronged him and who caused his death in the original timeline. He's here and alive in spite of these people and he is sure as hell going to make their life hell.
