from cupid wip! it's at almost 10k yay going so well!!

He’s desperate for things to change. For a life that’s real and good. Honest. One where he isn’t hiding, where he doesn’t have to leave every five years.

Once, he tried to stay.

People tortured him. Figured out who he was, what he could do. Tried to steal his arrows, his darts, his magic. The energy that thrums through him, courses through his veins, makes his arrows and darts do what they do.

Buck doesn’t stick around anymore.

It’s painful. Adds to that sinking pit that grows and carves deep, deep, deep into him. He hates leaving. Buck’s a clinger. Buck was meant to stick around in LA forever. Work at the 118 until he’s too old and they have to tear him away from a fire red engine.

That’s not possible, though. He’s got three more years here, maybe four if he can swing it before he has to leave.

And he’s never wanted to leave less.

There have been cities that were easy to leave behind. Some were harder, some had people he grew to love.

Still, none of them — none of them — were Los Angeles.

None of them had Eddie.
