"The average Mechanisms character has two parents" factoid is actually a statistical error. The average Mechanisms character has one parent because every tale is dangerous as all hell. Mordred Pendragon, who has five parents, is a statistical outlier adn should not have been counted

brothers
[id: a drawing of gawain and mordred from high noon over camelot standing besides one another on a clay-yellow background. gawain is tall with dark tan skin and long, oily black hair. he’s missing an eye, and has scars across his face and other areas of exposed skin. he wears a hat, collared shirt, vest, and jeans. he stares off past the viewer, looking grim. mordred is a shorter, fat man with darker skin, sparse facial hair, and a large afro with thin braids hanging from the bottom. he wears a green cloak, off-white shirt, dark blue jeans, and leather fingerless gloves. he’s facing off to the side, eyeing gawain suspiciously. one hand scratches the back of his head.

I think HNOC would be so funny if Arthur and Mordred look exactly alike. Lancelot just notes to Guinevere how similar they look and they’re both like “haha funny coincidence right.” Meanwhile Arthur and Mordred are like staring at a hydroponics pipe with the exact same expression on the exact same face.

Look in Arthur's defence I don't think anyone's first reaction is 'oh. My child who I thought was dead for the past 15 or so years is alive, AND TRANSGENDER.'
NAH ITD BE 'HUH? MERLIN EXPLAIN- WHAT DO YOU MEAN MY SON-???'
Tumblr media
All I'm saying is he's a dumbass. And if someone explained to him he'd probs be the most supportive dad ever and so ridiculously proud of Mordred, that's probs what happened lmao just
'dad I'm sorry'
'dad? OMG THATS WHAT MERLIN MENT- MY SON-? LOOK AT MY SON!!! PRIDE IS BOT THE WORD IM LOOKING FO-' gets shot into space 'NO MY BOY!' witnessing Mordred drive everyone into the sun

Mechtober Day 3: Found Family
And so Mordred fought, and saw in each slain Saxon the face of she who saved him.

ok so I found something out while doing research for my hnoc fanfic Mordred was adopted by a Saxon woman named Morgan, who dated two Saxon men, Lot and Uren. Uren is based off of Urien, king of Rhegard. Historians don't know his parents, but one of the speculated fathers is Coel Hen. Coel Hen is also often called King Cole. We don't KNOW if Coel Hen is the person written about in the nursery ryhme "old king cole" but There is a non-zero chance that Mordred HNOC is related to Old King Cole OUATIS
