When ch 1044 and 1045 were released and all the chaos was unleashed, I remember having a very obvious question

"How come the power of human human no mi: model Nika is connected to rubber?"

How is a gomu gomu fruit's awakening the power to turn imagination into reality?

I mean... This awakening grants the user freedom, not just of spirit but freedom of how to use power too. Luffy's ability to manipulate reality while in gear 5 seems to show that.

So??? Why rubber? Why does the fruit give the user a rubber-like body? What does that have to do with anything?

I was totally not re reading Skypiea when I noticed this.

Of course it's white they're in a cloud sky instead of a water ocean, but it's the fact that they use "pure white". White would've been enough to get the point across, right?

Guess where else have we seen that exact expression!? Oda's drafts of Gear 5!!

And the chapter after that? Guess what?!

We learn island clouds in Skypiea bounce just like rubber.

There's no need for Oda to make them bounce, but they do! Exactly like when Luffy turns the environment around him to rubber due to the awakening.

Let's not forget that Skypiea is where we first hear about the "Sun God" and we see Luffy's sirouette resembling the "Sun God Nika" transformation.

So would it be insane to think whatever Luffy has going on during his gear 5 is clouds?!! More specifically island clouds just like the ones found in sky islands.

Think about it.

Rubber was unknown to the people in Skypiea, and sea clouds/island clouds don't survive in the blue sea under natural conditions. Most likely 99% of the blue sea population has no idea what an island cloud is or what their properties are.

For all intents and purposes rubber was the best description blue sea people could give to the power of the fruit. If the fruit hasn't awaken in 800 years, it means no one has seen that transformation (which clearly is not just a “rubber fruit” awakening) EVER?! since the end of the void history gap. You would have no way of knowing. You would just think it’s rubber.

Now what does clouds have to do with the Sun God?

Well other than "they're in the sky" I'm not sure 😂 but someone that dreams a lot is said "to have their head in the clouds". The same way imagination and thoughts in manga are depicted with a floating cloud above the character's head.

It seems to be a perfect physical and symbolic representation of dreams! That's the theme of skypiea and the true pinnacle of piracy - dreams and freedom. It’s what the whole story is about!

Introductory Post

Hello, and welcome to my blog! Above is an infographic I've made detailing the Milky Way as well as the commonality of life and intelligence itself across the galaxy, which will serve as an important base of reference for all else I plan to post on this blog. I won't say much in reference to this image that isn't already included in the infographic, so I'll go on to explain what my project is about, which I will elaborate on with future posts:

In short, the primary focus of my speculative biology sci-fi project takes place around the mid-Centaurus arm, as indicated on the infographic, in a region of the galaxy locally known as "Ruminaaan Space", which is the single largest interstellar community in the history of the Milky Way! Although the majority of these Ruminaaan residents have only began their joint interstellar societies within the past 3,000 years, an ongoing battle has been waging for the past billion years and counting between a species known as the Yn and an entity known as Xii, and while I'll leave more detailed elaborations for future posts, this is a story of a single species divided and disfigured by their own conflicts and the long-term consequences it holds on their stellar neighbours, even one billion years later.

The Milky Way The Milky Way is a spiral galaxy about 100,000 light years across, which happens to be the galaxy in which Humans are located, as well as over a couple hundred other intelligent species. The galaxy is estimated to be about 13.6 billion years of age and has thus far been identified with two major arms (the Perseus and Scutum-Centaurus Arms) which branch off into many smaller minor arms.

The galaxy is estimated to contain anywhere between 100 to 400 billion stars, most of which host a minimum of one orbiting planet. Although on Earth many may consider the possibility of extraterrestrial life to be a rarity, it is more common than one may think, with there being roughly 14.33 billion planets and moons combined which host native life. However, only about 8.59 million of these worlds host multicellular life (around 0.06% out of the total life-bearing celestial bodies), which is due to eukaryotic multicellularity being a very challenging hurdle to get over for life everywhere for a variety of reasons.

This being said, approximately 91.67% of these worlds do host sapient life forms, as high intelligence is almost an inevitability with multicellular organisms given sufficient time, though an extremely lower fraction of these planets and moons are actually home to sophont, technological civilisations comparable to anything humanity has accomplished throughout the past 200,000 years, with there being only 237 star systems with native sophont life (as indicated by the bright white dots shown to the right), and 268 sophont species overall, accounting for only 0.000028% of worlds with multicellular lifeforms. Among these 268 civilisations, very few actually aspire to be spacefaring, with there being less than 40 such civilisations, such as the Jodomii or Sirt, who even have space programs to begin with. Most either do not have the desire to explore outer space, as is the case with the Shreau, Uut, Samrinians or Aniin, do not even have the means to discover that outer-space exists in the first place, such as the Fline or Udrae, who have limited or nonexistent vision, or the Katudit, who live in the subglacial oceans of a rogue planet, or may never leave their home planets for any other multitude of reasons.

While the abundance of technological, cultured civilisations across the Milky Way is fortunately higher than most may be led to believe, it’s important to keep in mind the fact that the space which separates the majority of these civilisations is tremendous, with even the closest being hundreds of light years apart. Despite this, only four interspecies interstellar communities have managed to spring up across the interstellar medium (not counting the Yuruuc, who have yet to encounter any other intelligent species despite how far they have dispersed throughout their corner of the Outer Arm), which is simply due to the fact that interstellar travel is nigh-impossible without the use of warp technology, though only one of these such communities has managed to grow to such an extensive size which incorporates over a dozen unique civilisations; Ruminaaan Space. Ruminaaan Space (the blue area marked along the mid-Centaurus Arm) is the single largest community of interstellar civilisations with the widest reach in interstellar space in the entire history of the Milky Way thus far, with the Boueue and Scerere only having came into contact nearly 3,000 years ago. This region of the Milky Way will be the main focus of my ongoing project, titled ‘Ruminaaan Theomachy’, as you’ll all get to see more of as time goes on, so stay tuned, and welcome to the Ruminaaan Theomachy project!

Reading SVSSS: Chapter 10

For those who don't know, I am reading SVSSS for the first time and sharing my thoughts!

If you have not read it, there will be spoilers! Consider this a warning.

I am so stoked for this chapter! I've been really getting into the story to the point that I want to read multiple chapters per day (I COULD but I also want to be able to take notes- so I cannot realistically with the amount of hours in a day I have) BUT I will continue with one a day.

Normally I have hot drinks while reading, but I am dehydrated as fuck, so take this as your (mostly mine, but also your) reminder to drink some water.

this era would also become dreamchic’s longest promotional period, spanning just a little over 10 weeks. the music video for supernova 2 was released on august 14 — performed and promoted for 4 weeks. the music video for midas touch was released with the album on august 17 — performed and promoted for 4 weeks. a surprise music video for 365 was released on august 22 — performed and promoted for 2 weeks.

ᯓ★ COMPOSITION, CONCEPT, AND PRODUCTION

BREAK THE CURSE is an album best defined by its hyperpop, electropop, and clubpop flare. almost all tracks were written and produced by DREAMCHIC’S main rapper and lead vocalist MICKEY MOON. mickey has went onto express that her main inspiration behind the sound and direction for the album was the clubbing and raving scene. in an interview, she states: “we’ve been working really diligently on this album for awhile now, and we felt that there was no better time to release it like now. as for the inspiration behind the creative process…” she laughs trying to choose her next words carefully. “i really got inspired by the partying scene. i wanted to make music that i could party to…i really like the vibe of raving, not—not to say that i’ve been partying or anything,” she laughs again alongside her members, attempting to explain in the best way possible. “but i would best describe this as a party album that you can play in clubs or when you just want to dance. we had a lot of fun making this album. i would say break the curse in its entirety has brought us even closer and has been our best creative session to date.”

additionally, BTC has quickly become a fan favorite and a staple in both pop culture and the music industry. the era has gotten the internet talking with the fashion choices, music videos, concepts, and lyrics. the lyrics in certain tracks have raised several brows and has been at the center of many discussions with netizens and fans alike. for example, TRACK SEVEN: GUESS, has received an abundance of love from fans, going viral, and being one of the highest charting songs on the album — peaking at #2. however, many have also questioned the lyrics. some lines in particular that created quite the stir being: “you wanna guess the color of my underwear, you wanna know what i’ve got going on down there…” these lyrics have brought the girls a lot of judgement in spite of its massive popularity. a lot of netizens even going as far as to scrutinize them for being too “provocative,” however stronger words were often used. when asked about the lyrics, mickey moon responded: “we were just messing around in the studio. ‘just having fun and, like, greatness just popped into our head regardless of the lyrics. it’s just spontaneous and fun.” though, hailey had a spicier response in comparison: “i mean, the lyrics are there! we all know what they mean but at the same time…i’m grown! so is mickey and like—it’s not like the lyrics are a lie!” the lyrics for the promo single 365 were also questioned for their ‘allusion’ to drug use (especially considering natalia hwang having a hand in the writing process) but the girls never spoke on it.

aside from this, the concepts and music videos were highly praised for the production quality and aesthetic. dreamchic utilized a concept heavily influenced by the culture and fashion of the 2000’s, most commonly a term often recognized as mcbling. below, you can find a collection of photos that emulates the overall concept for BTC:

001. this era literally opened doors for the dreamchic girls. dreamchic was already a big name in their generation, but this era was something totally different. something shifted when this came out. once again, both ENVIE and DREAMCHIC were pitted against one another (nobody’s surprised) but this time was different. it felt more personal, which some fans could pick up on, due to a few incidents that happened. though it seemed to be a tough battle when both of them had comebacks only a few days apart—pre-sales only being different by half a million sales—when it was all said and done dreamchic won by a landslide! it was a victory for the girls and dreamers.

002. the promotion period was one for the books, lasting for a little over ten weeks total; filled with radio show appearances, variety show appearances, performances, music videos, commercial films, brand deals, editorials, livestreams, and so much more.

003. the members were evidently closer. not to say that they weren’t close already, but you can tell that the behind the scenes created an extremely strong bond between them. this coalition brought some solo stans together…that’s saying A LOT.

004. another thing that showed how much fun they had behind the scenes was the live listening party they hosted on FLORYVERSE. you could really see how passionate they were in the songs and how they would dance and sing along to the songs they enjoyed the most together. it was a real fun time like damn these girls are really a family 🥲

005. even though they had a lot of fun with this release, they also worked a lot. like they were being overworked but they didn’t complain. all the months before were literally all just dedicated to producing, writing, dance rehearsals, filming, etc. very little time for sleeping and eating, just sneaking in naps and snacks on set or for a couple of minutes in between rehearsals.

006. all members except hana took part in writing at least one track on the album. mickey, of course, wrote and produced all tracks (aside from truth be told though she did take part in writing it). hailey has credits on four tracks and ruo has credits on one track but she’s also participated in a lot of decision making when it came to composition. but where hana lacked in the writing department, she had a hand in choreographing. though they had a choreographer, it was left to hana to revise the demos for 365, SUPERNOVA 2, and MIDAS TOUCH.

all the clara comics i've posted (including the earlier ones with floyd) are part of an au concept i've been developing with @thegoatsongs, one where both clara and varney survive their canon deaths and clara has to learn how to be a vampire. the latest set of comics center around clara tracking down varney, who is somewhere in naples recovering from the volcano, in order to confront him and convince him to teach her about the whole vampire thing. bevan is there as her escort. clara, knowing varney primarily as "guy who murdered her", was not expecting him to be so...mopey.

so, as i've touched on in other posts, clara crofton's short-lived career as a vampire is kind of disappointing. she gets no speaking lines, no real autonomy, and her sole victim is a random village girl rymer made up on the spot, which to me is criminal misuse of the tools HE GAVE HIMSELF to work with, because clara has a younger sister. everything is lined up for an emotionally devastating clara arc that actually treats her like a character. all we have to do is revive her and varney from their canon deaths and keep the narrative rolling past chapter 237.

so. clara stumbles home one night, soaked to the skin and covered in mud and her own blood, disoriented and with no memory of what happened to her as a vampire. at this point, clara isn't aware she's died, nor that she's a vampire. she's cold and hungry and scared and confused, and she's positive something dreadful has happened to her to leave her in this state, but she doesn't know what it is.

her father, upon seeing her, pronounces that A Miracle Has Occurred! his daughter is alive and well! (he is in DEEP denial. clara's death and undeath did a number on his mental state.)

her family takes her inside, get her cleaned up and dressed and give her a hot meal. under the recommendation of dr. north, world champion of gaslighting, they don't tell her about the whole vampire episode. better to put that whole thing behind them as a bad dream. as sir george keeps insisting, she's clearly alive and well now...right?

she's not well. later that night, she throws up her meal. this quickly becomes a pattern--she can't keep any food down. dr. north puts her on increasingly more restricted diets in an attempt to find some way to keep her fed, but her health continues to decline. her temperature drops, her pulse grows slow and erratic, and she gradually becomes weaker and weaker.

and then one night, clara awakens to the full moon shining through her bedroom window, and a raging hunger, or perhaps thirst, inside her. what happens next, she doesn't entirely remember. she only knows that when she comes to, her hunger is gone, and she feels better than she has in weeks...standing over her sister's bed, with blood on her hands and face. her sister, emma, is bleeding from her neck.

there is no more hiding the truth from clara. her brothers tell her everything, while dr. north sees to emma's injury. no one here knows very much about vampires, so the question hangs over all their heads like an axe: what will happen to emma? will she die? will she turn?

And Then Clara Is Summoned To A Vampire Council. the vampires have caught wind of varney's death and are seeking to expand their ranks in his absence, so they're having another exhumation. clara takes the opportunity to try to learn a few things about Being A Vampire by asking them questions, but none of them are very helpful. several of them, who don't know much about varney other than "he's really old and infamous", express doubt that he could actually be finally dead. fearing what will happen when she next grows hungry, clara decides to take a risk and travel to naples in search of varney, hoping he will give her answers.

she opts to travel with mr. bevan since he managed to have something of a rapport with varney before he died. she's still terrified of varney and hopes having bevan there will decrease the chances of Something Bad Happening. assuming varney survived, that is.

this brings us to the latest round of comics, in which clara finally tracks down varney's temporary residence in naples, steeling herself to come face to face with her killer--only to find him having Depression Time on the floor.

the guilt over clara's death was already eating him alive before she turned up in person. he's not taking this meeting well. eventually he does pull himself together enough to answer her questions, and turns out to be much more helpful than the other vampires.

Please I giggled when I saw this one

Muzan would probably have the best handwriting. His would look so pretty or formal, and then there's his daughter, who writes as if she was only a toddler. Yes, it was that bad.

I can imagine him just watching her trying to write, staring at her horrible writing with a blank face as she struggles-

Muzan is blunt, so he would straight up tell her just how bad her handwriting is, which he knows would hurt her, but he was just being honest.

He'd probably spend most of his free time trying to help her improve her handwriting cause he was just tired of looking at it.

He knew that it was going to take time, a lot of it, but even small improvements would be enough for him.

Muzan wouldn't punish her or anything if her progress was slow or if she was continuing to struggle even after he tried to help her. It just means that she needs other ways to learn, and he knows that people and demons have their own ways of learning things.

If he was busy with something but he still wanted her to work on her writing, he'd leave her in the care of one of her upper moons, Kokushibo being the best choice and Akaza being a close second. There is no way that he would trust Douma around his daughter.
