Fan Theory: Tulippa Is Alicia's Mother:

Ok, I know this is a stretch for obvious reasons (for one Alicia is around the same age as Snufkin, Moomin and the gang) and, according to the wiki, she leaves the Moomins to be with a guy at a light house.

BUT, since this is the 90's anime I'm talking about, some liberties could be taken. For one, Tulippa could be a product of The Witch's magical experimenting that led to making a human from a flower (a la "Thumbelina" or like the Power Puff Girls). Somehow, (maybe in another of Moominpapa's memoirs) she'd meet and marry the Light House Boy. Alicia would then be the result.

Snufkin's backstory

I have a headcanon that seems to explain the whole backstory of Snufkin. I don't know, maybe someone before me has already proposed such an idea, but personally I have never seen anything like it. In all animatics, comics and just fan clippings, I saw a baby Snufkin in a basket being carried down the river like some kind of Noah. And I have always been haunted by the question why did they do it? what were the prerequisites for this? After all, the Mymble-mom and Jokster may not be the best parents, but clearly not so much.

As a result, I remembered the very first book, where there was a terrible flood. And what if this flood got to the island of the Mymbles? In this case, Snufkin, caught up by the wave, could simply be separated from the others. And he was incredibly lucky to survive such a flood at all. Since we know perfectly well what the current is capable of, even for an adult. The Mymble-mom has quite a lot of children, so it's quite understandable why she couldn't save everyone. Perhaps a few more children besides Snufkin were lost in that flood. I'm not even talking about the fact that someone could not survive at all.

Prev just to clarify, I'm not saying he lives with them in Comet in Moominland! Sorry lol that was very easily misconstrued. In CIM he hasn't met them yet and gets invited back to Moominvalley for the first time after the comet passes, we don't see anything of what it's like for him settling down in the valley. You aren't misremembering haha

What I'm referring to is 1 - the illustrations Tove Jansson drew of a map of Moominvalley and Moominhouse, (which I have studied MUCH too closely because I made a Sims 4 replica years ago) which show that Moomin's room has two beds in it and is called "Snufkin's and Moomintroll's room" in the version printed in FFM (collectors edition), and 2 - at the beginning of FFM, Snufkin and Moomintroll talk to one another before going into hibernation together, and then in the last chapter Snufkin explains his fernweh to Moomin and suggests his plan of leaving for the winter for the first time - which by Moominsummer Madness has become their routine ^^

Tl;dr, it's something you have to extrapolate about the time BETWEEN books rather than from the previous book itself :)

I wanted to check it wasn't me misremembering, so I went and reviewed my copy of FFM and snapped some pics for ya since I had it out anyway

Love the trope of "Snufkin coming back late to the valley and Moomin attentively waiting for him" that Moominsummer Madness and the adaptations inspired by that aspect of that story have given us in the Moomin community, but I do feel sad that because of its popularity and the interpretation of this 'cold/tsundere Snufkin' who's aloof and off doing his own thing that so many people accept from that and The Spring Tune, so few explore the alternative.

The year that Snufkin arrives early, and the Moomins aren't awake yet. There's so much opportunity there! So many different ways it could go!

Does he set up his tent and wait? Go and spend the last few days with Too-Ticky? Let himself in to Moominhouse and go to sleep in his bed? (Drives me crazy that non-book readers have no way of knowing that pre-Finn Family Moomintroll he hibernated WITH the Moomins and he HAS A BED IN MOOMIN'S ROOM for when it's too cold or dangerous out for the tent. Grrr biting chewing gnawing) Does he quietly start prepping the house for when they do wake so that their spring workload is reduced? Does he wake Moomin up himself?

There are ways that all those events could make sense for his character, and I want to see themmm T-T

I have some crazy conspiracy theories:

I always get this really strange, really disappointed, really let down feeling(depression am i right)when I actually stop and think about the relationship dynamics in Moominvalley. I mean, there are so many people who wholeheartedly believe in and support Snufmin but does anyone realize that if they were made canon, it would likely be more unusual and out of the norm for Moominvalley than it would be for our world of reality?

Let's start with the og crew: Moominpapa(Moomintroll's father), the Joxter(Snufkin's father), and the Muddler(Sniff's father). They were a trio of good friends going on adventures and then you look at their children and see how they too are a trio of good friends(I can't assume for two of them though...)going on adventures. Generally, I feel like Moominpapa and Joxter are the ones talked about the most and that's certainly true of Moomintroll and Snufkin as well, although we do love our Muddler and Sniff.

Then you look at what happened after their adventure days were over. They all got married(well most of them anyways) and found girls to love and had children. That's the norm. That's what's expected. That's their childrens' fate.

In the eyes of the kids who watch the show, Moomintroll and Snorkmaiden are soulmates. They’re the perfect couple. They'll end up like Moominmama and Moominpapa. And hopefully, Sniff and Snufkin will find someone too. I mean, I don't how many of you have even heard of the Snufkin and Alicia ship. I don't like it but that would be the norm...I guess. Sorry I really don't like that ship :/

It's never even implied or mentioned ever but I just feel like the unmentioned norm would be expected from like, everyone.

However, I think there’s more hope for the future now since it's now implied that Sniff doesn't really feel romantic feelings for anyone. I think it's safe to even mention that Snorkmaiden isn't a moomin like Moomintroll's parents both are(I mean it's another difference between generations to pin my delusions to)And despite that weird ship with Alicia, I doubt there's anyone on Snufkin’s radar except Moomintroll.

That brings this whole spiel to an even sadder conspiracy: Snufkin is the only one of the two who harbors romantic feelings.

I can't name certain instances because I have short term memory loss but I think this a very plausible theory. There really isn't a romantic interest for Snufkin in the series unless you count when his own step sis tried to get with him in the anime(like wtf was that?) Anyways, Moomintroll, on the other hand, has Snorkmaiden. My thing is, he either loves Snufkin platonically or he realizes he feels something more but doesn't want to break the social norm and disappoint people.

it's gotta be one of those two and since i'm a shipper I gotta lean toward the latter.

(I actually tried writing a fanfic about this a few months ago but I dropped it temporarily. I think I'll pick it up soon because I did like it I just got insecure lol)

But really all i'm doing here is throwing words in your face because I rewatched some s2-s3 episodes and got mad all over again. So yeah.

That's all I have to say today. I honestly think I say more on this site than I do in real life which is really sad but that's life these days. Nobody around to talk to about this stuff except you guys.

I'm almost done with the game and I'm so excited for the ending!

My original theory was that the whole Moomin family would be missing but knowing Moomin wanted to stop the park keepers like Snufkin is really sweet <3

For the Groke chase scene, I kept running into circles because I would keep slipping up :,D BUT it was so cool to see the Groke helping! Love her <3

The siblings and their misadventures <3 I really love the design and music for the Hattifatteners Island. It was so detailed and the colors were so pretty! AND WE SEE THE PIRATES!

I also love how the Hattifatteners just move around Snufkin. I just had fun walking around them honestly.

Love how Snufkin tried to trap the Woodies then decided to free them because he actually needed them. The humor in the game is great <3 There's so much great dialogue between characters.

Dude I gasped when the log broke because I was actually thinking of walking back in case I missed anything :,D

Anyways, I'm almost done with the game. I'm right now in the part where they're making the play. The game has been such a delight to play and I was having a blast walking around exploring everything.

Today was a chaotic yet good day. Last night I went to sleep way past my usual bedtime, after spending hours texting a friend and doing tarto readings for each other. It was pretty a pretty intense experience in the best way possible, I really hope that my friendship with this new person will continue because they are giving me the best vibes, I tend to have a pretty hard time opening up, but this person makes me feel very comfortable, and is bringing me a lot of joy. This morning my alarm didn't ring, so I ended up sleeping more than I had planned, and when I woke up I wasn't even mad about it. Usually when things like this happened to me I would panic because my whole day plan had to change, and yet this morning I was happy I slept more because I felt reseted and energized. I did change my study plans, and I still got to be very productive. I also spent some time with my brother since he had errands to run and asked me to keep him company, we sang in his car and were very chaotic together as usual. Overall this was a very good day, and I am looking forward to my rest and relaxation day tomorrow.

Cozy hobbit autumn activities and productivity:

slept in and actually had a great night of sleep which counts as a cozy hobbit autumn thing

read first thing in the morning (I am finally reading my first moomin book and I am in love after just one chapter)

read the 12 arguments at the beginning of each book of Paradise Lost (which is the last book I'll have to work on for my English lit class)

did some study planning for the next couple of months, to see when I can work and when I cannot, how much I'll have to do and so on; ngl it was a struggle but I have a clearer view of what I need to do now

ran some errands with my brother

worked on my power practices and men theories class (I found out one of the recorded lectures had no audio, so I moved on the next one, and in the meantime someone on our course groupchat was kind enough to send me their own notes on that particular lecture, I am so grateful to them they really saved me this time around. I also started to write down some notes of my own for said lecture, but I was too tired to finish)

did a bit of planning for next week and set up a new weekly spread on my bullet journal

started working on a future post

I’m honestly so happy that somebody finally spoke about the Moomin Valley episode 11 situation + the film. Your analysis was great and I agreed with all your points, some of these people just needa chill out and do some research fr 😭 I wonder when the film will come out…I’ll be having gray hairs-

I'm glad other people understood what I was trying to get across in that video. I feel like when I make long discussions like that I just become a rambling mess that no one can understand. So I'm glad people understood my points and where I was coming from. I was legitimately nervous when I first posted it cause of how mad I saw some people were which would then lead to people being mad at me- But like that didn't happen it was just my brain messing with me so, yeah. XD

And honestly my theory for when the movie comes out is either 2025 or 2026.

Because according to that poster it looks like the film went under planning around the same time as season 4 did, which was 2 years ago.

The reason why I think it could possibly come out next year is that 2025 is the Moomins' 80th anniversary and I feel like Moomin Co. would want to put out a lot Moomin stuff this year. So it's possible they'd ask Gutsy to set the release date around then. The problem with that theory though is that would mean the movie would've taken 3 years to make and most animated films take at least 4 years. Which is why I also think 2026 could also be when it's released.

Granted the 4 years thing is for movies that are meant for theatrical releases, I don't know if there's much difference in movies that are for TV series and that are most likely gonna be for streaming/cable.

Like I tried looking up how long movies like Steven Universe the Movie and the Craig of the Creek Movie took to make but I couldn't find any info on that.

Either way I don't think we're gonna know or hear about much until it is close to the release date. I mean Moomin Co. doesn't seem to like to release trailers and stuff until like- a week or two before the thing comes out. XD I don't know, we'll just have to wait and see.
