gonna put some X-2 canon divergent headcanon things for Wakka here. some of these are stated in the info document I have for Wakka, but I'm putting other things here too:

While I do ship Wakka and Lulu, their relationship starts much later than what we see in X-2. They admit their feelings to each other shortly before X-2 and it takes Yuna leaving to join the Gullwings for them to begin dating. Lulu is by no means pregnant. Them finally admitting they have feelings for each other was a slow process, neither of them fully realising it until a few weeks before X-2 starts. This is definitely a slow build up and not something that happens overnight. Maybe one of the grannies finally asked when they were getting together and it clicked.

Would Yuna have known this before going off on her adventures with the Gullwings? I don't think so, but I'm open to this not being the case, mainly cause Besaid's small enough that a small shift in someone's behaviour can cause people to sniff out the truth really quickly. Yuna can also be pretty observant, so she'd probably be able to put 2 and 2 together. Wakka or Lu would probably come clean when Yuna visits in Chapter 1, maybe Lu would after Wakka runs off in search of a sphere. Speaking of which...

There's still the conversation of Wakka wanting to find that sphere of his parents (which turns out to be a sphere of Chappu saying it didn't exsist). Wakka still goes out to try and find it, nearly getting himself seriously injured in the process, because he's been out of the guardian game for near 2 years at this point. He remembers it and wants to find it, which brings up the thought of having children and fatherhood. That aspect doesn't change.

While he does sometimes play blitzball with the Aurochs, he's not entirely their Captain anymore. As he was helping the Al Bhed with their rebuilding efforts in the period between X and X-2, he didn't have the time. In comes Beclam during X-2, who takes over captain duties and wants to burn the temple down, which makes Wakka realise he misses more than he thought he did. The same series of events happen where Beclam wants to burn down the temple and is disappointed by how the Aurochs are, especially after hearing they won the tournament 2 years prior. Beclam leaves the same way he does in X-2, and Wakka finally resumes his duties as captain of the Besaid Aurochs.

Post X-2, Wakka is once again the full-time Captain of the Besaid Aurochs and spends a lot of time between Besaid and Luca. In instances where a Tidus is around, Wakka invites him to be part of the team once again and eventually invites him to Co-Captain it too. This gives him something to do outside of staying on Besaid and lets both him and Lu have a little freedom from each other. He, of course, lets Lu go off and do her own thing as well. He'd be a hypocrite if he didn't.

Neither he nor Lulu are the leaders of Besaid. Wakka advises on a couple of things here and there, as does Lulu, but doesn't feel like Besaid is big enough to be governed by one person. And considering how busy he can be with the Aurochs, he doesn't always have the time to lead.

Both of them, however, do help out with keeping fiends away from the village. Wakka still has his World Champion blitzball in his hut and will occasionally go outside the village walls to make sure the fiends are taken care of. This keeps both of their skills sharp, especially after what happened with the fiends that poured out of the temple.

lol lmao even. thinking about last year's resolution. i did spend over a week in a row doing drawings that i finished, but then i just... didn't post them? even though i planned on doing it? ah well. technically a fail, but i'm really not upset about it.

this year is the year of the gamer. i'm aiming to play at least one new game every month. maybe i'll post about it too, but idk.

tuesday was the qblrsmp sunday batch of creatures first birthday!!! it’s almost the end of the event so here’s some of what oreos has been up to!

oreos first day! she got 2 mothers, panji and mango! she went on a big adventure and got her first pet, a sugar glider named fievel!

oreos acquired new family members! her pa, king. another ma, mae, tía phoebe, tío mads, and 3 siblings! button-stitches, sombra, and clementine. she also discovered mountain dew and shared it with everyone :3 all plans were abandoned to blow themselves up on a mountain top

oreos spent the day doing creature tasks with her ma and mamae! this task was to go on a camping trip so they made a fort, put up some hammocks, and told scary stories around the campfire 0.0

tía phoebe made a murder chamber to sacrifice villagers for sins! oreos acquired her new plushie, the puppet of strife. she carries it in her backpack everywhere

a new favorite pastime, dancing with her ma in the background of people doing important dramatic lore

a day out with the family! unfortunately tío mads came out as british and now his days are numbered 🫰😔 he will be dearly missed

tragedy has struck the qblrsmp……… untamed wilds was broken and had to be removed. oreos is six whole years old and this was the worst thing that has ever happened to her. she spent the whole day transferring her many, many mobs into new cages and killing all of her untamed wilds pets

oreos and her ma visited hams research lab in the toxic caves 0.0 oreos was caged as a subject in an observation room

this past weekend was the creature camp out event! oreos found slenderman and his notes and gave him lots of hugs while waiting for everyone to show up

2 days until the event ends and oreos stats are as follows:

The Lady Is A Vamp by objectlesson

The genderqueer fic that absolutely wrecked me a few weeks ago when I ran across it for the first time. It’s got confused teenagers who don’t know how to sort out their feelings for each other, fashion descriptions that make me want to sell my soul to the writing gods, and a brilliant Jay POV that captures so much of what I like about teenage love stories. It’s a great fic that’s just long enough to get really invested in, and the eventual payoff of the get-together is great.

Redemancy by PorcelainAlice

Polyamory, Mal/Evie/Jay/Carlos/Ben and Jay/Doug, 11k, unfinished. (but I promise you it’s worth the read anyway) 

This fic has been living in my head rent-free since I first started reading, and even though it’s not a pairing I would usually go for, it’s one of the most interesting Auradon worldbuilding fics that I’ve read for this fandom. I love the deep dive into Doug as a character, and the ways that this fic delves into dwarf culture and how being part of that magical world makes Doug an outsider at Auradon Prep is absolutely brilliant. There’s a few really lovely scenes with giving food as a way of giving affection, but the fic also goes into food as a means of expressing culture, and it’s so well done that I would love this fic even if it were only those scenes. (But seriously, the whole fic is lovely and the worldbuilding is top tier, please read this and scream about it with me) 

Long Live, Havin’ Some Fun by WorkingChemistry

Mal & Evie & Jay & Carlos, 8k, unfinished. 

I’m always a slut for omegaverse, and this fic is one of my absolute favorites. It has all of the casual violence and terrified affection that I love from this fandom, and it hits basically all of my personal omageverse trope buttons with the scent marking, pack dynamics, and non-sexual relationships. The relationship between the core 4 is left somewhat ambiguous, but I think it reads super well as queerplatonic. Reading this fic inspired me to write uhhh like 200k of my own omegaverse fic, which in turn is why I started this blog, so this is TRULY the most influential of my personal Descendants fic rec roundup.

Mostly-canon, this fic hits a lot of the awkward teenage crush feelings that I adore in descendants fics. I came for the Ben/Carlos, but stayed because it’s such a well-written look at the Auradon Prep dating landscape. Also, hot. Fair warning that this one is quite NSFW, so if that’s not your jam maybe give this one a pass.

Malvie, 5k. 

Halloween fic! There’s knives and petty rivalry that’s maybe not so petty after all, because sometimes your teenage rivalry with the princess whose mother got your mother exiled forever IS the most important thing in your lives, and there’s some really lovely details about Mal’s art that make the world feel so much more whole, and Evie is a badass as she always should be, and it’s a joy and a delight to reread this fic every year.

Gen, 34k, unfinished. 

The VKs take a different route to escape their parents. The barrier breaks anyway. Mal has more magic than she can handle, Jay has magic too, and there’s a lot of really nice moments where we get a glimpse into the inner workings of the Auradon adults and how they manage the politics of the situation while trying to help. It’s a really great worldbuilding fic that delves into the logistics of running a mashed-up fairy tale kingdom that’s actually more like twelve smaller kingdoms in a trenchcoat, and there’s also some AMAZING good-guy coach moments that made me adore him even more. I’m a sucker for fics that show the adults trying to help, and this is one of the best.

I’ve already talked about how much I adore fic where the Auradon adults are really genuinely doing their best, and this is one of the PEAK good-guy Coach fics for me. It’s got some really evocative moments that make my heart ache for Jay, and it’s just a lovely fic overall.

Adorable werewolf!Carlos fic. The first fic set in this verse is one of my all-time faves, and this sequel is equally delightful. 

Short Skirt (Long Jacket) by Butyoucancallmemeg

multi, 13k. 

This fic is one of the best Evie characterizations I’ve ever read, full stop. Grifter!Evie is canon in my heart now, and the relationship with her mother is exquisite. I also love the emphasis on Jay and Evie as friends in this fic. They both know how to perform, how to flirt and make a good show of things and charm their audience, and it’s such a great read. The whole series is fabulous.

Like Riding A Bike by Glitter_Lisp

Harry/Uma, 2k 

Kidfic! I’m not always one for kids in fic, but this series consistently blows me away with how good the parent-child relationship between Harry and CJ is. The perfect level of precocious child and well-meaning protective parent. The series is focused more on the parent-child relationship than the Harry/Uma relationship, but it works so well. I love a hot pirate (or tattoo artist) parent who is so incredibly dedicated to keeping his kid as happy and healthy as possible even when other things are falling apart. Also, I would die for cool uncle Gil.
