Hello everyone! 👋

My name is Leah Pisaruck, and I am the artist behind Spiderweb’s Closet. 💎

This creative journey began while growing up in Seattle, WA, around age 15, when my best friends and I began playing around with polymer clay jewelry just for fun. 🎨

The craft quickly became one of my many artistic hobbies, which included painting, poetry, and music. By the time I graduated high school, creating wearable art with clay and crystals became a strong passion of mine. 💕

I decided to call my jewelry business Spiderweb’s Closet for many reasons. First of all, my friends used to call me Susie Spiderwebs in high school. I also resonate deeply with spiders, as their webs symbolize creativity, patience, and interconnection. 🕸️

After a little over a decade, my business is still quite small, but slowly growing! I plan to seek out more vending opportunities in the Missoula, MT area, as well as expand my online presence. Follow me on Instagram, TikTok, and Tumblr 🙌

A special project that I finished recently! This painting is a collage work containing so many memories for Phoenix. It hurt my heart a little to rip the artwork out of my sketchbooks, but ultimately I love how it turned out. When I first started to move towards querying years ago, I had an entire wall of paper onto which I outlined the pros and cons of traditional versus indie publishing. I had multiple publishers that accepted unsolicited queries listed out on one side, and every possible method of self publishing available to me on the other. Here you’ll see a few snippets of those papers as well. Finally, I included excerpts from drafts of Phoenix that no longer reflect the current narrative. I loved printing out each draft if I could, and to take pages from those definitely pulled on a few heartstrings! But I like to think it was for a good cause. This painting is a love letter to everything Phoenix once was, and everything that it can be. So much has changed since each line was drawn. So much growth has happened since each bullet point was penned in, each word typed. I cannot wait for what the future holds for me and my writing! “It’s ‘If Jeannie Were A Horse!’” This is exactly what I yelled to BJ when I saw this painting online by a dear artist friend, @artistangiesellars . 😆😄 I saw that Angie was about to sell it during a Main Street Walk and Holiday Sale in Montana. BJ quickly reached out to Angie and then told me that it had been sold. That there would be prints available in a few weeks. Only I love Angie and thought sharing her original painting would be the greatest treasure and honor of all. BJ proceeded to try to fool me. Yeah. One word. Angels. Never figured out why people think they can fool or lie to intuitives. 😆🙃😁 And BJ, when he’s telling me a tall story for surprise reasons, well, it gets noticeably taller. Like the Empire State Building of tallness. 😆🤣 He just always hopes that my runaway giggles aren’t a sign that I know the truth. Ahem. 😉😂🤣 So when the original “Becoming” arrived in the mail, I was ecstatic. Isn’t it magnificent?! 🤩😍🥰 Extra special is that Angie painted this horse from the picture her mother, Alice Wolff Colton, took when she was visiting the McCullough Peaks Wild Horse Herd in Wyoming. Her mom’s great love was watching and filming the wild horses around the US. Stopped in @frame_of_mind_mt for some art inspiration. So fricken excited to have what I consider a legitimate art store in Missoula. I’m trying to overcome a HUGE creative block that has actually been a problem since my head injury occurrence. Add that to some other f*ckery in my life and I’m once again trying to make it back to just being an artist full time. I’m accepting that I’m on a crazy life journey right now and trying to throw expectations out the window. I’m trying to follow rad experiences that put me out of my comfort zone. What I’ve learned so far about those experiences is they are a double edged sword. High risk, high reward. The payout has been high on the experience but a large payout on energy and stress as well. An open mind is necessary and also, don’t get attached to outcomes. A deep dive on who you align yourself with prior is necessary and needs reminding. Or, wing it and see what happens and thus the open mind. I’m redefining the word “failure” for me once again. It’s ever changing for me as I readjust my expectations of the outcomes I pursue and those ai include on my journey. Typography is not a strength of mine; but I am ready for @wildpigmentproject and @torontoinkcompany Waving in Place! My chosen pigment for this event is a silver acorn cap ink with the recipe from Jason Logan's Make Ink book. I was uncertain if this was appropriate since I foraged for these acorn caps in Massachusetts during a time of grief and not from my home here in Montana (which would be really hard because oaks are not native here). Maybe that was too much information; but there are stories here. I went forward with this decision. I'm quite pleased with the outcome, this step forward.
