Wanted to get this HC out of my head and onto something so here:
I headcannon Orca as being romantically/platonically involved with a dragon from another tribe during the war. I personally headcannon her falling in love with a rainwing dragoness (would be a really funny coincidence given her siblings) and wanting to elope with her.
However, she stayed because she felt that she had to be there for her subjects given that her mother has little to no regard for them so as the princess she feels pressured to be better.
Another thing I also headcannon is that Coral was still a bad mother prior to Orca’s death with her death worsening that side of Coral. As Coral is very much self-entitled and egotistical with the dragons around her being ones who she either has to use cause they are the best option or sates her ego and pride as even Gill falls into the latter category and notable doesn’t really have the spine to go against coral for more that brief moments (as seen in the prologue to book 9 where he just admits defeat and lets Coral kill a guard he full-heartedly believe deserved to live). And these traits don’t just spring up from no where so while Coral and other dragons may try to paint the family as healthy with Orca’s challenge being a complete surprise I read it more so as an Albatross thing where the royal family just sweeps their own bad doing and excuse the bad behaviour of others in their family using a scapegoat.
Coral was very much heartbroken by Orca’s challenge and having to kill her but I don’t think Orca was too enthusiastic about killing her mother at least for the crown. If she was then why not use her magic why give her mother that respect. I think that has to do with Orca have a very personal vendetta with her mother and wanting to prove herself right and that using her magic will not satisfy that and maybe she feared that if she did she would just be like her mother.
As for what Orca wanted to do with the crown, I believe she wanted to either abolish the seawing monarchy as that helps explain why she placed the statue where she did. By having the statue in the royal hatchery she is targeting dragonets who might be raised to re-establish the monarchy or if she planned on keeping the throne then find a way to give it to someone so that the crown isn’t given based on blood or she wanted to become immortal (I think she just wanted to destroy the monarchy with the statue being her first move as the wording means that even if the royals want to make it so that males can be heirs the male eggs will also be destroyed as well).
However as we know Orca failed by fluke or the scene was much different but coral rationalises the death by saying it is an accident. After all why wear the tusk that killed your daughter if you have so many bad feelings about it.
Whether Coral knew about Orca and her mate in this hc doesn’t matter much unless you want to lean into the route that Coral killed Orca’s love which fuelled Orca’s drive to kill her mother.
I like to think that Orca’s mate is still alive and was wondering for so long about what happened to Orca until the news reaches her. Add a tragic element to the story.

gonna be real, i literally don't give a shit whether charlie dies or not. he's only going to be replaced by his bald son and the monarchy will continue as it always has.
what i do care about is how this is going to be all over the news for the foreseeable even though tens of thousands of people are dying in a genocide our government is helping to fund, how people in our own country are suffering because of the cost of living crisis and the tories practically trying to tear the nhs (and many other public services) down.
and if he does die? we'll have to watch as this 'no money for the nhs' is funnelled into another state funeral and coronation. forgive me if i don't participate in the celebrations

people acting like its some terrible shame that anyone was speculating about Kate Middleton's whereabouts now we know its cancer. Oh shame for ever making fun of shitty photoshop jobs, don't you know she has cancer??
Nah mate. She married into a rich and powerful family thats been leeching of the British public and wider world for decades, centuries even. She is going to be given top treatment, probably at the expense of others. Hell despite the cock up they kept her out of the public eye for months so that's not a big stress either.
I'm sure it sucks for her and her rich spawn. I might even say I feel bad for the younger kids. I dont wish cancer on anyone but Charles etc, etc.
But lets not act like she's some poor single mother waiting on the NHS. Struggling on benefits or struggling to work while on chemo. Trying to feed her kids during cost of living crisis. Trying to just find time to be with them.
Kate has all the money in the world, her kids are in top schools with lots of rich relatives. They could easily be taken out of school and taught by top tutors to be more flexible with her health. She will likely be fine. And even if she isn't? She'll have had the best chance out of anyone. She would have the most comfort possible and people around her until the end.
So no. I literally do not care. I have no guilt or grief over memeing the every loving fuck out of a PR cockup by a bunch of royal leeches. To act like I should is absolute bollocks.

My favorite line in Queen Charlotte is "Come. Hide from the heavens with me."
Like it's just so chefs kiss of how the head of the church is afraid of heavens above all things, something that most people desires, the ultimate reward in the afterlife. Its just so chefs kiss how it shows the level of burden that must've come with his title and the glory that came with it. And it was just so chefs kiss of how Charlotte, despite perhaps not quite understanding it, understood him enough to go with along. To let him fear the one thing everyone desires, and to essentially protect him from it.
With Lottie, He can be Farmer George, afraid of heavens. With Lottie, he can be anything, feel anything, be anything--even if it was the person everybody else refuses to see. But it's okay, because Lottie wasn't everybody, and not only did she see him, she also embraced him.
"Come. Hide from the heavens with me." What a line. What a delivery. What a love.

Roach definitely has a tiktok where he literally just shitposts but it is super fucking popular for no reason. Because of the really spotty internet he has basically all of the time, he doesn't really interact with any of his fans, but there was once like five months where he didnt post and people started cancelling him for "propaganda".
It had all pretty much calmed down by the time he even realised it was happening, but in response he posted a video of Gaz and Soap, both high on pain meds laying in beds next to each other meowing at each other because they both think the other is a real cat (for some reason). He just slowly pans it to Ghost, who is sitting deadly still, eyes balnkly staring at a wall. He looks tormented. He switches the camera to his own face and pulls the polite-awkward-british-smile and just nods.
It's got clown music playing in the background, and the caption with absolutely no hashtags is just "Honestly thought my account was the definition of 'anti propoganda' but ok (i am in hell (please save me (this is a joke (for legal reasons (god bless the queen)))))
Almost every single comment is ; "It's a king now actually"
He then posts a video of him and the guys all saluting to a picture of Trisha Paytas. No caption at all. No hashtags.

I would actually want a presentation about mariana de austria ... im a loser who doesnt know much about her ! i read about her when she got to spain and was confused about spanish (that was so real from her) but i dont know more cool stuff about her at all ... so feel free to tell me anything you find remarkable about her !
who is your favourite bourbon ? :3
Tumblr media
Thank you for this Question:
Queen Mariana of Austria is known as the Mother of Charles II of Spain and the niece/wife of Philip IV. She was Queen Regent when her husband Philip IV died and ruled on Carlos II's behalf until he was 14. Like Charles II, Queen Mariana was a victim of the classic “decline of Spain” paradigm. She is defined by 19th-century historians as “weak,” “unstable,” and “ignorant” but also “Machiavellian,” “scheming,” “with a German outlook” (meaning foreign), at times “melancholic” because she suffered from migraines, and was overly pious and uninterested in politics because she “dressed as a nun." She was accused of handing power over to her favorites; Jose Everardo Nithard and Fernando de Valenzuela. In reality, She was smart, strategic, strong, decisive, and seemingly tactile. Her favorites played a dominant role in her regency but her strong and decisive personality and her extensive and consistent participation in all aspects of government suggest otherwise. She faced two political crises during her regency the first was in 1669 resolved by her dismissal of Nithard; the second, between 1675 and 1677, ended with Valenzuela’s fall and her exile. There is evidence in state papers to prove that she did not surrender power to them. Speaking of Jose Everardo Nithard, He was Mariana's tutor, friend, and later her confessor. He was made inquisitor General. As for Valenzuela, Known as the palace elf, due to his influence and connections to people in high places. He married a woman who is part the queens valet. He provided Queen Mariana information about gossip and rumors that were circulating in Madrid. Valenzuela got more influencial overtime which created tension between him and the court. He was Mariana's protégé. Their friendship caused controversy and nasty rumors where made about them as a result. The worst one I believe was the rumor of Queen Mariana sleeping with Valenzuela. The fact that people actually believe that rumor makes me angry. Mariana was dressed as a nun because this is the type of dress worn by Habsburg widows. She made a few changes to the garb like having princely folds and lavish materials. Queen Mariana was exposed to the Spanish cultural traditions because Mariana's mother is Philip IV's sister. She was exposed to Italian culture because of two generations of italian empresses. Mariana both observed and participated in court ballets, rituals, and ceremonies; her dance master, Santo Ventura, was highly regarded. Boys received this kind of instruction as well. Leopold I, for example, was an avid consumer and practitioner of theater and music as emperor. At the age of seven, for example, Mariana publicly greeted her parents on their return from the Diet of Regensburg in 1641 by saluting her mother in the Spanish style and her father in Latin. When the fourteen-year-old performed a similar greeting in Trento, this time as queen of Spain, she had had at least seven years of practice. Queen Mariana was educated and spoke Latin, Spanish and German well. Judging by her education and her fleunt spanish, I doubt she struggled speaking spanish. I read somewhere that Queen Mariana as a child loves playing with dolls. She was cheerful, obedient, and lively girl. Her marriage to King Philip IV of Spain was always described as a terrible marriage because King Philip "cheated" on her, their different personalities, and massive age gap. In reality, They had an affectionate relationship and King Philip was loyal throughout their marriage. He described himself as a change man and would give Mariana everything she wanted. They did struggle financially though and at times could get caught in a series of arguments. I mean no marriage is perfect.
Gossip writer Barrioneuvo reports that one day The Queen asked for pastries and commented that she was not served for some days. She was told that the pastry cook would not supply the palace until a large outstanding bill had been paid. She removed a ring from her finger and ordered a servant to exchange it for pastries; Manuelillo de Gante told her to put the ring back on and gave the servant a copper to buy some tarts so that the Queen can finish her dinner.
Queen Mariana was the woman behind Castillio De San Marco, After a pirate attack in June 1668 roused Mariana into action. Queen Mariana was horrified receiving this news because the attack was so brutal. On March 11, 1669, the queen regent issued her decree ordering the viceroy of New Spain to send subsidies to the city. She also added funding for the building of a masonry fortification and additional soldiers. To oversee the project, she sent Don Manuel de Cendoya to St. Augustine as the new royal governor. Her judgement protected and spurred the city’s growth over the following decades. This growth even led to a later governor requesting the same regent queen for a new two-story, coquina Governor’s House in St. Augustine.
Mariana was a good mother-in-law to Marie Louise of Orleans. After the wedding of Marie Louise, Carlos introduced Marie Louise. Marie Louise bowed to her but Queen Mariana grabbed her hands and told her to stand; and said "Call me mother" with a smile.
Mariana in the year 1696 felt pain in her breast turns out she had breast cancer and she tries her best to hide it because she did not want Maria Anna of Nueburg to take over. The pain was unbearable that she asked the doctors to check her breast. When they examined the Queen they found a huge tumor in her breast. Their is no treatment for this and she was offered relics and prayers. When she died.
Tumblr media
Reports of miracles attributed to her quickly began to circulate. These miracles and her body’s reported “incorruptibility” three years after her death led to a beatification proceeding in the last years of Carlos’s reign. Mariana’s path to sainthood, however, came to an abrupt end when the new dynasty, the Bourbons, took power. Both the beatification proceedings in 1698 and its abandonment in 1702 were as politically motivated as everything else in her life had been
I won't give too much information on her regency because there is a book about it called Queen, Mother, and Stateswoman Mariana of Austria and the government of Spain by Silvia Z. Mitchell. This book is my source about her and the reason why I made this blog so her side of the story will be known. Other sources are from https://governorshouselibrary.wordpress.com/2022/09/22/mariana-de-austria-the-queen-behind-the-castillo-de-san-marcos/?fbclid=IwY2xjawE5D5UBHUpP8HVhtFboR9ZThC2j5LNDLj531pKjmVxtGQbf7A2yMOo2AuNxqEU3Qw

I like 4 bourbons, Philip V, Luis I, Fernando VI, and Carlos III. If I had to choose one it would be Carlos III because he modernized Spain and imposed great reforms.
Sorry I took so long to reply

One of the Seanchan […] tossed him a fat silver coin with strange markings, a forbidding woman’s face on one side and some sort of heavy chair on the other.
Ok so a) normal people call a heavy chair pictured on coinage a ‘throne’ and b) that’s your future mother-in-law and yes she does hate you

One thing that kiiinda took me out of the final episode of Young Royals was Wille’s speech to his mother in the car. I was sort of expecting him to talk about how their relationship could be better if she wasn’t his boss and how his mental health would be better if he could step back but instead it felt a bit like Lisa was just talking directly to the audience about how people don’t get to choose when there’s a monarchy - which I don’t think Wille has ever really been that bothered about before? Felt a bit on the nose I guess.

Are there still Crown Prince!Wilhelm stans out there despite S3 turning it into the number one problem? Please report, we need to unite and no, that doesn't mean that I don't support Wille's mental health and happiness and that I love the monarchy, some people out there must get it
#young royals#prince wilhelm#any crown prince wille believers speak up please don't let yourself be silenced alskdjdh#i'mma be loud and petty and just obnoxious about loving crown prince wille in contrast to what else i see and what the show says#it just feels so alienating these days and like you're wrong in finding crown prince wille interesting and preferring it#and you're not allowed to even express different thoughts bc canon told you this is how it is and how dare you want this life for wille#I wish i knew about more fics too that write about crown prince wille. it feels like that's forbidden to do now unless he's unhappy in it#and it's just shown how horrible it is and how trapped he is and exploring a different alternative with him actually being a competent +#confident crown prince in the future and simon and him still working out and working together and bring changes to the system#but the show has made sure the fans can't come up with their own interpretation and that's completely 'unrealistic' now#and going against canon and exploring a different possibility is somehow impossible now#and means you're an evil spokesperson for the evil monarchy#god forbid i want him as the fictional crown prince in this fictional show reading/writing a fictional story#stories where he renounces (and that's all I see nowadays implied or otherwise) are just not interesting to me and i hate it#i even try to avoid reading most drabbles bc of the implied reality they portray and barely go through the yr tag on ao3 anymore#when i say it's alienating to be in the fandom these days i mean it. it's tough and frustrating#anyway...anybody else feeling this way?#let me know so i can follow some more i really hope there are more active blogs#mine
