Crispy Tofu and Brussels Sprouts over Noodles
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another episode of Goth Girl Can Cook, Crispy Tofu and Brussels Sprouts over Noodles edition. I pressed water out of extra firm tofu, sliced it into cubes and seasoned with salt and pepper, then dusted with cornstarch. This was pan fried in grapeseed oil, which doesn't give as even a brown as deep frying, but uses less oil, then I sautéed quartered Brussels sprouts in the remaining oil, seasoned with a splash of soy sauce. I served with Momofuku noodles, tossed with the sweet & spicy flavor packet

Bready or not, I present to you: my Daschbun birthday cake! 🥖
We made this a-dough-rable cake live on Twitch as part of our fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! It's the famous Momofuku Milk Bar birthday cake, topped with birthday cake crumbs, a cinnamon buttercream transfer Daschbun, and little icing breads, croissants, bagels, buns, and cookies!

Feast Your Eyes: Fandom Cookbook Recipe Review #11
On A (sushi) Roll - Gordon Ramsay’s Healthy, Lean and Fit
Tonight’s menu: sourced from Gordon Ramsay’s Healthy, Lean and Fit
Main course: Brown Rice Sushi Hand Rolls
Tumblr media
Full review under the cut!
Main Dish: Brown Rice Sushi Hand Rolls
RATING:
Difficulty: 3/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Time: 4/5
End Result: 5/5
Total Rating: 17/20
This was my first time making hand rolls, and I was worried they wouldn’t turn out well. They were pretty great! I don’t normally eat fish of any kind, but I decided to trust Gordon’s expertise and put the smoked salmon he called for in it. The rest of the ingredients included cucumber, avocado, sesame seeds, sushi rice, and sushi ginger (which was very pleasant and mild). They took a long time to put together, and definitely take a little practice to get right, but I think I’ll make these again sometime (without the smoked salmon, which I don’t think added much regardless. Sorry, Gordon…) since they seem like a meal that’s easy to prep in advance. The tamari sauce we used was a perfect pairing. We visited Momofuku when we were in Vegas, and the experience was so special (and the ramen was so incredible) that I’ve been buying their spices for use in my own cooking. Super high quality ingredients.
Other notes:
You may notice that this review only has one dish! I originally intended to make Gordon’s Baked-Whole Tandoori Spiced Cauliflower to serve alongside this… I still want to make it eventually, but when we got groceries today, I couldn’t find tandoori seasoning anywhere. Not even at the Whole Foods. I would’ve tried to assemble tandoori seasoning myself, but the grocery stores don’t have half the spices that make up tandoori seasoning, either. I ended up sort of freestyling a cauliflower tikka masala with premade sauce, but since it wasn’t a recipe, I didn’t include it as part of this review. (It was still pretty good, but pales in comparison to Gordon’s dishes so far. I think I’ve had enough cauliflower for awhile…)
Thanks for reading all of this! It means a lot. May your food be flavorful and may you stay hydrated :)
Tune in next Wednesday (8/7) for another recipe review!

Not exactly history, just game trivia. Mini-Sasuke’s owl, Momofuku, is actually an adult owl. Probably on the older side, even, because Kohaku calls him "oyaji” (old man/pops). Momofuku is just very small (and adorable), so mini-Sasuke thinks he’s a baby.

A-SHA Mandarin Style Noodles
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My dad saw this at Costco back in 2022 and bought them for me to try because he thought I would like it because the packaging was Sanrio and Friends.
At first, I was hesitant to try it because Sanrio-theme packaged food and snacks tend to favor children's palate more often than not but sure, okay. I'll try it because I love eating instant noodles, so why not?
And am I glad I did!
More than a year later, I still enjoy eating A-SHA Mandarin Style Noodles!
Of course, the Hello Kitty packaging has come and gone so these noodles are now back to their plain brand packaging but the taste is the same so I continue to buy these on a regular basis whenever I see them at Costco lol
Tumblr media
Still, I originally posted about this Hello Kitty-themed noodles on Twitter for commemorative purposes so here I am going on ahead an doing the same here on tumblr too! :)
But seriously, go check these noodles out!
PS. My cousin gave me Momofuku x A-SHA noodles for Christmas, and they use the same sauce! The only difference is that it contains dried veggies on a separate packet! :)
PPS. You can order them online on the official A-SHA link! (The picture below was taken from that page as well)

Momofuku-style brussels sprouts (LINK)
Elevate your holiday brussels with some spicy fish sauce vinaigrette
I can’t remember when I discovered this recipe, originally based on the Momofuku brussels and adapted by one of my food faves, Food52. But, since discovering that brussels can be crunchy and zesty, I’ve not looked back.
These brussels have graced our holiday tables every year for the last several and they are a HIT. But, they’re also good for a random Tuesday lunch: simply serve over rice and add a splash more sauce. 🐟
