Eric Hallström (Nov. 22, 1891 - 1984) was a Swedish artist. He was associated with the Naïvist movement in the 1910s and 20s, but his art developed into a more Expressionist form of realism, as shown in the portrait of a young sports fan. Hallström ws a member of the group Färg och Form and is represented in all major Swedish museums.

The Pioneer of Abstract Art

Tate Modern is currently exploring the works of two groundbreaking artists, Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) and Hilma af Klint (1862-1944). The exhibition, subtitled Forms of Life, which runs until 3rd September 2023, displays the works of two artists who never met yet inspired each other. Mondrian is the better-known of the two artists. Greta Knutson-Tzara (Nov. 10, 1899 - 1983) was a Swedish artist, translator and art critic, who was married to Dada-founder Tristan Tzara. They lived together in Paris, where Greta Knutson had been studying with André Lhote.

Knutson worked in the Dada idiom, before transitioning to Surrealism, which she then distanced herself from as she become more literary oriented and started translating from French, Spanish and German, and writing art criticism.

Her work is represented at most major Swedish museums, and she is also at MoMA as part of an Exquisite Corpse collaborative work with Tzara, André Breton and Valentin Hugo.
