Chapter 17 of You Are In Love
Series Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Pairing: modern!Poe Dameron x reader
Warnings: brief, vague mentions of death
Word Count: 4.1k
Author’s Note: I know I said updates would be faster but I lied… I’m trying to get my shit together I promise also if the ending seems disjointed or unedited it’s because I wrote it tipsy 2 hours before this was posted
You can’t sleep. Despite how comfortable you are, despite the tiredness coursing through your bones, your mind can’t seem to slow down. It’s like if you happened to fall asleep, everything would just be a dream and you’d wake up at home and alone and overthinking every interaction you’ve ever had with Poe.
At some point, your body must finally take over because when your eyes flutter open, soft sunlight is bleeding into the room through the curtains. Knowing that you’ll slowly go insane if you lay in bed any longer, despite the urge to just stay and watch Poe as he sleeps like an angel, you extract yourself from his arms as carefully as possible and sneak downstairs.
Once you’re safely downstairs and feel as though your every movement won’t wake everyone up, you relax a little. Turning on the coffee pot, you think through what you want to make everyone for breakfast. When you’d first arrived, you promised Kes that if you managed to wake up earlier enough, you’d surprise him with breakfast to say thank you for all his hospitality.
Settling on pancakes, you turn to search for the ingredients as the coffee pot hums and Lucky comes out of his crate, tail wagging happily when he sees you. Crouching on the floor, you give Lucky some scratches, laughing quietly to yourself when he flips over in search of belly rubs.
When you manage to finally pull away from Lucky to start on breakfast, he follows underfoot, twining between your legs and very politely begging for scraps. The sun is streaming in, bathing the whole room in a warm golden glow, making everything look almost heavenly with radiance. Even just looking at the sunshine feels warm, as if just touching the dappled rays could warm you from the inside out.
Until now, you hadn’t realized how desperately you missed the sun and the warmth that comes with it. You missed the warm breezes that rustles the trees and Poe’s curls, you missed the brightly colored flowers and the delicious exhaustion that comes from being outside in the sun all day. You’d noticed how Poe seemed to come alive in the sunshine, but now you believe it reinvigorated you too, making you feel lighter and happier and more at peace than you’ve ever been.
Or maybe that was just from spending time with Poe.
Whatever the reason, you feel completely at peace in the sunlit kitchen, sipping from your coffee mug as the pancakes sizzle and hiss in the pan. Right as you finish the first batch, you can hear the floorboards creaking behind you, so you shout out a cheery “good morning!” without turning around.
“I thought I told you guests don’t work in my house,” Kes says in lieu of a greeting, but when you turn to stutter out an apology you realize he’s smiling at you, “it smells great, thanks for getting up early.”
“Oh, it was no problem, I couldn’t sleep anyway.” You turn back to the stove, flipping the pancakes to keep them from burning.
“Were you uncomfortable at all?” Kes asks, sounding worried that he’s been a bad host.
“No, no! Not at all, it was just one of those nights.” You reassure him, stacking some pancakes on a plate before sliding it to him. Kes hums knowingly before taking the offered plate and sitting down.
After finishing with your own breakfast, you take your mug and your plate and join Kes at the table where he praises your cooking at least a hundred times. There’s just something about Kes that makes him so easy to talk to, and by the time Poe comes down twenty minutes later with an adorable bed head, you and Kes are chatting as if you’ve known each other your whole lives.
“I put your breakfast in the oven to keep it warm, you might have to make some more coffee though,” you call out to Poe, feeling far too relaxed to get up off your chair to help him. Things should feel different, you think, after what happened last night, but everything feels the same way it did yesterday.
It seems as if there should be some momentous change, that you should feel like a completely different person, but you don’t. You feel the same as always, that yearning tugging at your heart the same as it always does, and you’re worried for a moment that you had dreamed up the whole thing.
But then Poe smiles at you, and even though he doesn’t look any different, it feels different, like there’s a weight behind the gesture. It makes you feel all floaty and giddy and reassures you that last night wasn’t just your over active imagination, that your awkward and stuttering confession really did happen.
The morning passes like molasses, Kes eventually leaving you and Poe alone at the kitchen table to sip your coffee and talk about nonsense as Lucky naps in the pools of sunshine.
“I might paint today,” you say to no one in particular, turning to glance out the window at the expansive backyard you’ve come to love in the few short days you’ve been here.
“That sounds nice,” Poe responds, finally standing from the table to clear your dishes, “Dad wants to take us out to dinner for our last full day here, but otherwise nothing’s planned.”
“Perfect.”
After hours of doing nothing but sitting and drinking coffee, your legs feel like jello when you finally stand. Making your way to the sink, you don’t give Poe the chance to shoo you away before you grab the clean dishes to dry them off as Poe washes.
Even though you’re working like a well-oiled machine, it takes the two of you twice as long as it should to finish with the dishes with how many times you stop working while doubled over with laughter or flick each other with the water.
When you finally manage to get all the dishes clean and put away, you head back upstairs to change out of your pajamas and feel more like a human than before by brushing your teeth and doing some skincare. As you’re gathering up your paints, though, you might as well be a robot with the way your brain short-circuits as Poe changes his shirt right in front of you.
Wiping the corners of your mouth just in case you started drooling, you grab the rest of your supplies and let Poe know you’ll be on the back porch if he feels like joining you. He shouts out that he’ll be down in a few minutes as you close the door.
Coming downstairs, Lucky’s hot on your heels as you slide open the porch door and seat yourself on the top step. Lucky scampers off, chasing some sort of bird, so you take a second after getting your supplies set up the way you like to just take in the view. You already know you won’t be able to truly capture the beauty of the Dameron’s backyard, but you’re going to try your best.
Cracking open your watercolors, you start laying down blues and greens and oranges, and as you begin to focus on the sky, Poe comes out with a plate of fruit and sits down on the step next to you. Neither of you talk, basking in the noises of nature, of trees rustling and birds chirping and that quiet little hum that always seems to permeate the air during summer.
Hours pass, with Lucky traveling in and out of the house as he gets too hot or thirsty or tired from chasing animals, and Poe making sure you have plenty of snacks and drinks, keeping you company as you paint and repaint, trying to blend the colors just right. In your mind, even with all the adventures the two of you have taken together over the year you’ve been friends, this was your favorite time you’ve ever spent with Poe.
There was just something about existing next to each other, something about sitting and watching the light change in his childhood backyard that just seemed so magical. Maybe it was your conversation the night before or maybe that was just the way Poe always made you feel, but either way, you wanted to live here forever, on Kes’s back porch, sipping lemonade next to Poe as Lucky ran wild through the orange trees.
Even after you’ve set your small paintings aside for them to dry, you and Poe sit next to each other on the porch step, taking in all the sights and sounds of summer. Eventually, though, Poe heaves himself off the step and stands, stretching his hands above his head and making his shirt ride up just a little and making your brain short circuit.
“I better head inside and get ready for dinner, it’s starting to get late,” he tells you as he bends to begin gathering all the plates from the snacks you’d shared.
“I’ll be up in a few minutes,” you hand him another stack of plates and start to gather all your painting supplies before Poe heads inside, leaving you alone on the porch.
Letting the warm breeze and the bird song wash over you, you stand, leaning against the railing, for a few moments, just trying to take everything in. In the past year, you’d been trying to slow down, to enjoy every moment you’re awake instead of letting life pass you by. You give yourself a few minutes to feel grateful for everything you’ve done, for the friends and memories and accomplishments you’ve made, before gathering your painting supplies in one hand and heading inside.
Upstairs, you knock on the door to the guest bedroom before easing the door open to reveal the bathroom door shut and the shower running. Despite knowing you should wait until Poe was done and slip into the shower too, to wash away the sweat that’s been accumulating during your time outside, you’re feeling too sugglish and instead promise yourself you’ll shower when you get back from dinner.
As quickly as possible, you pull on a pair of shorts and a top that doesn’t have any paint stains before flopping back on the bed, debating with yourself whether or not you have time for a quick nap. Right as you close your eyes, the bathroom door opens, your internal argument distracting you from the noise of the shower turning off.
It really should be illegal for Poe to be walking around without a warning sign, as if it’s totally normal for someone to look this attractive at all hours of the day. He’s got a towel low on his waist, his curls still damp and beautifully defined, and you think this might actually be the moment your heart stops for good.
Instead, you gesture vaguely to the bathroom and slip inside the humid room, making an attempt at fixing your hair and makeup while trying to stop your heart from beating out of your chest. It seems strange how normal everything feels, how even still just a glance from Poe can send your heartbeat skyrocketing.
There’d been a part of you that was waiting for everything to feel different after last night, and there’s still a small corner of your brain that’s waiting for something momentous to happen. But you’re still you and Poe’s still Poe, and just looking at him still makes you feel like a schoolgirl with a raging crush on the boy who sits next to you in science.
After trying to make yourself more presentable and calming your raging heartbeat, you step out of the bathroom to find that Poe had gotten dressed. Even fully clothed, he’s so pretty you could cry and you're struck once again by how alive he seems, how bright and happy and beautiful. You feel infinitely lucky that you’re able to see him like this, all relaxed and full of sunshine.
Ever the gentleman, Poe confirms that you’re one hundred percent ready to go before he opens the bedroom door, leading you downstairs to meet with his dad before you all head out to dinner.
“Well, don’t you two look nice,” Kes says with a wink when you appear at the bottom of the stairs, and you can’t help but smile and look away, the attention making your skin prickle in a way that isn’t totally unpleasant.
Kes leads you out to his car and double checks that everyone is safely buckled before he even begins to pull out of the driveway. He bypasses the little town and continues down the highway before stopping in a small city a few more miles down the road. Though you can already tell that it’s bigger than Poe’s hometown, it still feels cozy and small, more town than metropolitan city.
“Alright, you kids get us a table and I’ll find a parking spot,” Kes says as he pulls up in front of a nice looking restaurant, cutting off Poe’s protest with just a look. Finally, Poe sighs before he exits the car, opening your door for you before his dad pulls away from the curb.
“I think he does all this on purpose,” Poe mumbles, and it’s so quiet you assume he’s just talking to himself, so you make no move to comment. Instead, you follow Poe inside the restaurant, taking in all of the decor while Poe secures a table with the hostess. You get seated almost immediately, pushing you to wonder if Kes really did have an agenda when it came to you and Poe.
Before you could think any harder on all the things Kes had done over the past few days, Poe tells you, “We used to come here all the time whenever there was something to celebrate. Anniversaries, honor roll, things like that.” He’s smiling, but there’s a certain heaviness to his voice that makes you conflicted about asking for anything more.
With perfect timing, Kes approaches the table and saves you from your internal debate, settling into a seat next to Poe. The three of you make small talk while you browse the menu and as you eat your meal, the conversation gains substance as you begin sharing your own childhood memories with them, weaving your stories with Poe’s and the few anecdotes Kes offers up.
At one point, you’re laughing so hard you’re a little worried that someone will ask you to leave the restaurant, but all you received were a few stares from neighboring tables. There’s just something about being with Kes and Poe together that makes you feel at home, and you’re going to miss spending your days with them.
When the check finally comes, the three of you argue over who’s paying and you consider slipping your card to the waitress while Kes and Poe bicker, but Kes is faster than you are and ends up paying for the meal with a victorious smile. It’s a nice change of pace from the family life you’d left behind, where everyone argued about who had to pay for dinner and not who wanted to pay most.
The drive back to Kes’s house is full of more stories as you pass by different buildings and parks, all of them seemingly attached to a fond memory for Kes. Lucky greets you by the door, and you’re struck by just how much you’ll miss the rambunctious dog and his desperate need for attention.
Wanting to stay up as late as possible and make the most out of your last night, you head up to the guest bathroom to shower and get comfortable, answering some missed messages but rolling your eyes and ignoring all the texts from Finn full of teasing and an absurd amount of heart emojis. When you return downstairs, you’re delighted to see that Kes had pulled out a pile of photo albums, Poe’s obvious dread only increasing your excitement.
“Ok, I’m showering so I don’t have to deal with you two,” Poe says with a groan as he exits the living room and you get comfortable next to Kes, flipping open the first album on the stack. It’s mostly full of baby pictures of Poe and all his firsts, but there are a few pictures throughout the book of Kes and a woman you assume is Poe’s mother.
He hasn’t told you much, but from what you’ve pieced together, Poe’s mother had fallen in love with Kes at the Air Force academy, gotten married and had Poe relatively young, and she’d passed away before Poe was in middle school. You want to know more about her, know more about the woman who created one of your favorite people, but you don’t want to push Poe too hard. As much as you’d love to hear about all of his favorite memories with her, you don’t want to cause him any pain.
Moving on to the second book, you’re greeted with a picture of the woman smiling up at you, her squirmy son grinning in her arms.
“They have the same eyes,” you say quietly, taken aback by how similar they look and amazed at seeing those eyes you love so much staring back at you through time from a different body.
“I know,” Kes adds with sorrow coloring his voice, “everyone always says he has my eyes, but they’ve always been Shara’s.”
“She’s beautiful,” you can’t help but add as Kes’s fingers gently, lovingly trace across the photograph.
The two of you sit for a moment, soaking in the picture and processing the memories that came flooding back before you turn the page. Shara is missing from many of the pictures, and you feel a twinge in your heart because you know she was the one always behind the camera, capturing all those unforgettable moments without ever thinking about being remembered herself. You wonder how hard that must be for Kes, to look back at all those pictures and still feel her there but not be able to see her face, her joy and her laughter and those expressive eyes.
The mood begins to lighten as you stumble across more and more goofy pictures of Poe, and you’re laughing at one of him with the missing teeth and the broken arm when he comes back downstairs.
“Are you seriously still laughing at me?” He asks, sounding exasperated even as he sits next to you on the couch, greedily gathering the book onto his lap and starting to flip through the pages.
Hours pass with the three of you sitting on the couch, laughing and sharing the stories that go along with all of the pictures. There’s a point, when Poe looks around ten, that Kes stops being in so many pictures and when you realize why, you’re close to crying. Instead, you promise yourself to ask more about what Poe remembers about his mother, to help her story and life live on, even now that Poe’s spent most of his life without her.
Even with the undercurrent of sadness that fades the longer you look through the pictures, you end up laughing so hard your stomach hurts and you’re worried you’re going to stop breathing. It’s close to midnight when you finally finish looking through all the pictures, and even then you don’t feel ready to sleep.
“Alright, I’m going to bed,” Kes says as he stands with a sigh, “I’ll make you kids breakfast before you leave tomorrow.” With a final goodnight, Kes makes his way upstairs while you and Poe make your way to the back porch. There’s just something that draws you out there, some inexplicable urge that pulls you outside to gaze over the expansive land.
It’s even more beautiful at night, and a part of you wants to stay out there and paint, watch the ways the moonlight differs from the sunshine with the different hues of orange and blue and green that paint the backyard.
“I’m gonna need a house with a porch like this,” you say, leaning over the railing to get an unobstructed view of the yard, to take it all in one last time.
“Yeah?”
“Mhm,” you turn to look at him and are greeted with a lazy smile, as if it would be hard work for him to have any other expression when he looks at you.
“Ready for bed?”
“I guess,” you reply, because even though you want to spend the rest of your life on the porch, you know you’re going to need your sleep before the drive home tomorrow. There’s a part of you that doesn’t want to go back, to return to your normal routine and your empty apartment and your schedule that never seems to match up with your friends.
As you slip into the guest bed for the last time, you’re hit with the realization that tomorrow night, you’ll be sleeping alone again. It keeps you awake, as Poe lays a gentle hand over your waist and falls asleep, because you’re really not sure if you’ll be able to sleep without him.
Even though it was only three nights, you’d become so accustomed to your little routine together, the way you wove around and moved seamlessly together as if that was the way things always were and always would be. You never thought it would be this hard to come to terms with, that you’d lose sleep over losing sleep for the rest of your life.
Because you know that once you go back home, everything goes back to normal. The little bubble of magic that surrounds Kes’s home will be broken, and reality will seep in and you won’t know how to navigate life anymore when everything seems dull in comparison to the days you’ve spent here. You and Poe will have a whole new connection to navigate, one that you haven’t even mentioned to each other since your fumbled confessions.
It all starts gnawing at you, all these little worries and insecurities come crawling out to pick you apart. You wonder if you’ll need to play pretend again, act like you never said anything and act like you aren’t crushed every time you see his face. You’re not sure how to cope with all the changes, all the new memories that’ll inhabit your brain and bring you back here whenever life seems dull.
Eventually, after what seems like hours, your eyelids droop closed and you’re pushed off to a dreamless sleep, one that comes to an end much too soon when Poe gently shakes your shoulder. He’s already showered and his belongings are packed, and you feel awful about slowing him down because you know it’s a long drive home but he’s smiling at you and everything seems more bearable in the morning light.
After a quick shower and a speedy repacking of all of your things, you head downstairs to eat one last breakfast with Kes and Poe, one that you wish you could prolong for the rest of the day. All you want is to live in that sunlit kitchen with the door to the porch for the rest of your life.
Still, when it’s time to go, Kes hands you and Poe your own travel mugs and bags of food, snacks and sandwiches he made special just for you, and it truly hits you how similar he is to his son. Really, there should be no surprise why you’d felt such a connection to Kes after only spending a short time with him because he reminds you of Poe in almost every way, down to the gray curls adorning his head.
The goodbyes are extended, and you spend more time talking in the driveway by Poe’s car than you did eating breakfast. You’re reluctant to let Lucky go, and you know your day isn’t going to seem complete without the needy dog demanding some belly rubs from you. Giving Kes one last hug and thanking him for the thousandth time for all his hospitality, you head to the car and let the father and son have the goodbye they need.
“You ready to head home?” Poe asks a few minutes later when he slides into the driver's seat, Kes waving and watching from the front porch. You want to say no, want to ask for more time, for the rest of your life to be spent with no responsibilities and to wake up next to Poe every morning, to spend your days laughing and painting and enjoying every second.
But you miss your friends greatly, and you miss the predictability of your job. As lonely as it can be, you miss your apartment, with your art prints and decorative pillows and candles, and you miss the way the sun streams through your windows on long summer days. You miss your weekly hangouts and the way summer seems to turn every day into an adventure.
“Yeah, I had a great time but I’m excited to get home.”

Prison For Life
Fandom: Star Wars (Modern AU)
Pairing: Poe Dameron x F!Reader
Summary: Poe is your person. He's your love, your best friend. And you're his. And if anyone were to hurt you? Well...Poe would go to prison for life.
Warning: reader has an altercation with a man, allusions to sex
A/N: based off the unreleased song with the same title by Olivia Rodrigo. BACK ON MY POE HOE SHIT!
Poe parked his old truck at the famer's market. Fall has truly hit with the orange, red, and yellow leaves littered along the ground. The air no longer warm but with a chill. It's no longer bright and shiny but a bit cloudy and gloomy. You love weather like this.
The door to Poe's truck creaks as he steps out. He slams it hard because it won't stay shut if he doesn't. He rushes to your side, your door also creaking when he opens it.
With the help up Poe, you hop out of his truck and land on the ground. You pecks his lips in thanks and close the door behind you.
Once he locks up, Poe's hand is in yours and you're walking together towards the vendors selling their wares.
"Alright, what's on the list, baby girl?" he asks, waiting for you to pull out your shopping list.
When you do, you name off the items, "apples, honey, those treats that Beebs love so much, celery for the stew I wanted to make, aaaannd tomatoes."
Poe nods, "Sounds good!" He looks around and his eyes brighten, "Baby, the cider vendor's here!"
You gasp, "Oh, we have to grab some before they sell out again!" you move to grab your wallet and Poe chuckles, "I got it, honey."
"You got it last time."
"And I'll get this time and the time after," he gives you a wink and then leaves your side to get in line for the cider you love so much.
You continue down the aisle of vendors. You approach one selling fruit so you check to see if they have the apples you want. Luckily, they do, so you start grabbing some and placing them in your shopping tote.
"Hey," you hear a voice that's definitely not Poe's.
You look over your shoulder to see a man standing behind you. You watch as he looks you up and down and you scowl, "Not interested."
He scoffs, "And what makes you think I was interested in the first place, huh?"
You turn back to picking out apples, but the pushes you, causing the apples in your hands to topple over. You turn to face him, looking at him in disbelief, "The hell is your problem?"
"I was talking to you, bitch!" He grabs your arm, "What makes you think-"
"HEY!" Poe practically throws himself between you and this stranger, "Get your hands off her!" He pushes the man away from you.
"I didn't do anything!" the man yells.
"Then why did I see your hands on my girl, huh?!"
The man marches back to Poe, but the fruit vendor yells, "YOU BETTER QUIT IT OR I'M CALLING THE COPS!"
The man's jaw clenches as he eyes you and then Poe, "Fuck it," he pushes Poe one last time before stomping away.
"Asshole," Poe mutters before turning to you, his eyes softening, "You okay?"
"Yeah. I was ready to punch him until you stepped in."
Poe smirks, "Why do you think I did? Don't want the poor guy to not be able to eat anymore."
You snort and Poe chuckles and then sighs, "I know you could handle yourself, but you know I'd do anything for you, right?" You bite your lip and nod, "Good," he says, "'Cause if anyone were to hurt you...well, they'd have to put me in prison for life." he looks at you with intensity in his eyes and you have to look away. Your body suddenly feeling hot.
You clear your throat as you turn back to the vendor, "Just these, please." the vendor tells you the price and Poe immediately holds out the cash with one hand, while his other is on your waist, giving it a light squeeze.
He knows. He has to know what he's doing to you right now.
"What's next, baby girl?" he murmurs in your ear.
You step away from the stall and reply lowly, "Actually, I think we should go home."
Poe looks at you confused, "You okay?"
"Mhm...I'm just a little hot."
Poe smirks and teasingly asks lowly, "Did I get you hot and bothered, sweetheart?"
"Yes, so you better take me home right now."
Your response makes him laugh, "Whatever my baby wants," he slips his hand in yours and guides you back to his truck.
You can just go to the famer's market next week.

Idk if anybody asked you this, or you already talked about this, but what do you think Modern!Poe's (or Earth!Poe? lol) choice of vehicle would be? Would he drive a car or a motorbike? And what type? 👀 If he's super rich what kind of plane would he fly? Do you think he would love those types that can land on water? Idk what they're called, but I feel like he LOVED TaleSpin as a kid and he even has like eight pilot jackets 😎
Oh, boy! I do have ideas on these subjects, and not only do I have ideas, but I've written them into my fics! Modern!Poe is one of my favorite things in the world! I love bringing everything great about Canon Poe into the modern world, and that includes planes, cars, and motorcycles!
Let's start with the motorbike, shall we?
First of all, I live in an area that hosts one of the biggest motorcycle rallys in the world, so I know a little bit about these 'death machines.' And one thing I know is that I HATE Harley Davidsons! I call them 'fart machines' and despise the noise they make. I hate anything manmade that is too loud. The motorcycle above, however, is a Suzuki Boulevard C90, and they are NOT loud. I gave Poe one in my ficlet The Soul Guide, and I made sure it had orange highlights like Black One.
In that story, Poe was also a pilot, ex-Air Force, and he flew one of these.
It's just a little Cessna 162 Skycatcher. It's a great plane to teach someone to fly... and Rey wants to learn to fly!
In my story Blind Faith, Poe's main form of transportation is this:
Ha! Yes, I made him an Olympic dressage rider. As a trainer in the story, he usually gets around in an old pickup...
I have a fondness for Chevy, so that's what I'm going with.
However, when he isn't hauling horses or hay around, he does splurge on a completely different vehicle (and he even takes Rey out on their first date in it!).
Now, imagine this Mustang with orange instead of red highlights and you've got Poe's vehicle obsession.
Whatever vehicle I give Poe in the modern world, it always seems to be either black or orange or a combination of. In The Haunting of Kenobi House I gave him an orange Chevy Blazer.
That Poe was also a pilot, but he also flew a Skycatcher like the one above. It's just a nice little affordable plane. I haven't written him as super wealthy, yet, but I do think the Poe in The Invitation is on his way to becoming very successful. In that short story, I didn't talk about him being a pilot, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be one. And he'd go for something like this:
Sharp and snazzy, this Cirrus SF50 Vision is just his style. Almost like an X-Wing!
And yes, I think he would love to have a seaplane!
Anyway, that was probably more than you wanted to know, but I hope you had fun! I know I did!
Thanks, Dolli!

Kuvira (8w9 so/sp)- While her frustrations where valid she decided to conquer and take over other territory's.
Killmonger (8w9 so/sx)- Similar to Kuvira it's understandable grievance but wrong path to take.
Healthy Self-preservation 8
Jay Pritchett (8w9 sp/sx)- Close off a bit emotionally in the beginning of the show but he got better as time goes on.
Selina Kyle (8w7 sp/sx) - Her decision to be herself main priority and live life helping people makes her more of a hero than a villain. Also she robs rich people so...
Number 5 (8w9 sp/so)- His love and devotion to his family is felt throughout show and while he can be stubborn he doesn't let that blind him from being logical.
Unhealthy Self preservation 8
Billy Butcher (8w7 sp/sx)- He is constantly in the verge of danger and his impulsive decision making gets the Boys in trouble constantly.
Cersei Lannister (8w9 sp/sx)- Her desire for autonomy and control of her own decision gets unfocused on controlling others and using violent ways to get what she wants.
Lisa Rowe (8w7 sp/sx)- Similar to Cersei she doesn't want to control. However, she also doesn't seem to want to get better and accept herself. Eventually ending up void.
Healthy Sexual 8
Santana Lopez (8w7 sx/sp)- While she can be rude her struggle to accept herself in early seasons had a beautiful resolution and finding love with Britney.
Michelle Mallon (8w7 sx/sp)- A bit reckless but her heart is always in the right place. She pushed her friends to always explore and live more. Even if she got them in trouble.
Damon Salvatore (8w7 sx/sp)- Starts the show angry and frustrated but eventually he integrates towards his 2 and becomes more calm and less impulsive.
Unhealthy Sexual 8
Nate Jacobs 8w7 (sx/sp)- Pure disintegration towards 5. He is paranoid how people will feel about him once they discover who he truly is.
Claudia (8w7 sx/sp)- Sad and lonely due to the age in which she was turned she desires autonomy and love. Constantly trying to find that in Louis.
Villanelle (8w7 sx/sp)- Trying to find someone who loves her she purses Eve. The moment she doesn't have her attention she becomes violent and angry.

Hello! I saw your post about wanting Poe requests 👀 would you be down for writing a modern au thing (fic headcanons whatever, it’s your choice)? I don’t really have anything specific in mind, but I do love when BB8 is a little corgi 🥺 (gn!reader)
Please lmk if you would prefer a more detailed ask, but if you don’t wanna write it just ignore this :) thanks!!!
Neighbors ⤕ Poe Dameron × GN!Reader Headcanons [modern a.u.]
im not opposed to it, but it will be my first time writing a modern au, so i apologize if you don't like it :')
Warnings: kylo is ben sue me, im american (currency was brought up)
He was the new guy on the block.
He also lived right across from you
And naturally had the men and women bombarding him with housewarming gifts.
The only person you believed was actually being genuine was Leia and her husband Han since they were the parents of the block.
And Rey and Ben were definitely being genuine considering they were married.
Finn and Rose though...you weren't sure what they had going on since they were roommates. (oh my god, they were roommates)
While you could say the man was as handsome as they come with his Ray Bans shades along with a black leather jacket and five 'o'clock shadow, you were more in love with his little corgi.
You grabbed your bucket of dog treats you had since you gave them to the neighborhood strays and made your way over to the man and his dog.
The dog went to you and sniffed you with curiosity before sitting in front of you and panting.
"I guess he likes you."
His owner said with a smile.
"Maybe it's because I have treats for him."
The corgi wagged his tail, and you gave him a treat.
"I'm Poe and that's my dog Beebs."
"I'm (Y/N)."
From there, you both became friends.
Sometimes he'd go over your place with Beebs while other times you'd go over his.
Since he was pilot for the military though, you'd dog sit little Beebs from time to time.
You didn't think you'd be one of the people falling for him, but as months passed, you began falling for your neighbor.
Little did you know, he had already fallen since you brought his companion treats.
Anyone who loved dogs, let alone showed interest in his dog was a huge green flag in book.
It was just a bonus that you were nice to him and didn't openly flirt with him.
However, that didn't stop Poe from being Poe as he flirted with you meaningfully and playfully.
Eventually, you both confessed your feelings for one another and when you told your friends, you and Poe were shocked when Han gave Leia a 20.
"She said it was going to happen in less than a year and I put my money on two years."
Ben rolled his eyes at his parents.
"Didn't you do the same with me and Rey?"
"...Maybe."
Eventually, you moved into his home since you were there most of the time anyway.
It also was amusing for the others to see you, Poe and Beebs running across the street for boxes of your things and then back to his home.
They also loved that you got every person that showed interest in Poe jealous and angry.
You both were happy and no one was going to take that away from either of you

be my darling
Poe Dameron x afab!reader
word count: 563
warning: single parents au. reader has a uterus. little angst somewhere in there but actually fluffy.
part2 - masterlist
“At first, I wasn’t sure if I should come here or not. Since I break the first rule of the club… Don’t bring your child!” she joked, holding her big belly “But honestly, I need all the support I can get because I’m kind of losing my mind thinking about the future of this baby.”
Everybody nodded sympathetically.
“I planned to be fully blunt about everything, so here it goes… I’m sure you are wondering about the father. The piece of shit cheated on me, so I dumped his ass. Who could have thought it would have some consequences?”
She clearly joked when she’s uncomfortable Poe thought, smiling a little. He remembered his first time at the single parents support group. He was definitely nervous, feeling like everybody was going to judge his every decision about Shara’s life, though he was ready to defend himself. Then the others got to talking and he was shocked to realize how common his experiences were. How every parent’s joy celebrated and understood. Every challenge a parent was struggling provided with some solution by the other, even though that caused arguments among the group sometimes. It was all constructive, so helpful and Poe was immensely grateful.
“How about you, Poe? How is it going in the Dameron household?”
Hearing his name, Poe shifted on his seat.
“Honestly, it’s been ruff. Shara’s mom is keep making new demands to extend the process. It's driving me crazy... and I think she does that to make me look bad but it’s not gonna work. She did kind of stuff when we were together too and now, she drags Shara into this mess too. I’m not going to let her do that. I’m over it. Not going to give her the attention she oh so desperately craves. I have to win this case and have my child to myself… Ah, but everything is good with Shara lately. She just learned how to jump rope at her school and of course demanded I buy her one so she can teach how to her friends at home... referring to her toys. A lot of jumping, falling and slapping her shins with the rope.”
Everybody chuckled to that and oof sound was also heard.
***
“So, we have something in common.”
Poe lifted his head from the cup he was filling.
“Douchebag ex partners.” The new woman said. Poe laughed a little.
“I guess we do.”
“Oh man, is that coffee? I would kill for some right now…”
“I thought you could have some, in moderation, no?”
“I went cold-turkey when I learned about the pregnancy because I have no self-discipline. If I have some now, I’ll come back and finish the whole thing.”
“I think going cold-turkey requires serious self-discipline.”
She smiled prettily to that and Poe felt his insides turn a little.
“How do you find the group so far?”
“It’s good, I like it here. Though I think I can’t be too picky, since not many would accept a pregnant lady as a single parent. Yet.”
“And that would be ridiculous. What kind of policy is that “no child, no support”? Anyways, I can’t recommend this group enough. We all are like friends here. They really helped me through out the years. I’m sure you will like them too.”
“You know I have a feeling I will enjoy this place.” She grinned, making him smile widely.

Memory Lane
Chapter 16 of You Are In Love
Series Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Pairing: modern!Poe Dameron x reader
Warnings: none :)
Word Count: 3k
Author’s Note: things should be coming out quicker now… hopefully. and shoutout to @zoriis for helping me with all my nonsense <3
“You’re my best friend.”
You’re really not sure how to respond to that, and Poe’s sitting so close to you you’re not sure words would even come out. You can tell this is a big moment, can feel the weight of the words hanging in the air, but your brain can’t seem to connect with your mouth and you’re terrified of what Poe’s thinking of your silence.
“You kids ready for breakfast?” Kes pushes open the screen door, and a part of you marvels at how perfect his timing is. Gently, Poe plants his feet to stop the rocking motion of the swing, and the two of you get up and follow his father inside.
Kes is plating up the food, so you try to take in your surroundings as subtly as possible, twisting your head this way and that to try and see everything. The light is streaming through the large windows, throwing beams all around the kitchen. There’s a vase of flowers on the kitchen table and picture frames pushed against the wall of the countertop.
It’s cozy, and reminds you of Poe’s apartment with the splashes of color and pictures of everyone he loves displayed proudly. Even without the sunlight, the room, and really the whole house, feels and seems warm, as if it’s radiating comfort.
Breakfast is simple, fruit and eggs and toast, but it’s somehow the best meal you’ve ever eaten. There must just be something about home cooked food when it’s made by someone else that makes it so fantastic. Poe and Kes always make sure you’re included in their conversations, but you enjoy just sitting back and listening to them just the same.
You’d never been close with your family, even growing up there always seemed to be a layer of tension underneath any time you spent with them. It’s nice, almost reassuring, to see a parent-child dynamic where they both love and enjoy spending time with each other.
Still, they never make you feel like an outsider, and by the end of the meal your cheeks almost hurt from how much you’d been smiling. Despite that, Kes still shoos you away when you try to help clear the table and wash the dishes.
“You’re a guest, you’re on vacation, just relax,” he tells you with a smile, but you can tell he means it. Poe’s just like his father in that way, they’re both chivalrous to the bone.
After being shooed out of the kitchen, you and Poe head upstairs to get ready for the day. The two of you move around the room and bathroom as if it’s a rehearsed dance, the both of you melding seamlessly with each other.
Once, when you’re finishing your skincare at the sink, Poe passes behind you with a hand on the small of your back and you think for a second you might just pass out.
Other than that, though, it’s easy to get ready in the same space as Poe, even though you were a bit worried you’d started drooling when he came out of the bathroom with his t-shirt showing off a bit of his stomach.
When you’re both ready, he leads you downstairs and to the kitchen, where Kes is watching Lucky run around the yard through the windows, to let him know you’re heading out.
“Are you coming back for lunch?” He asks, turning his head away from the dog and his attempts to capture a squirrel. You look to Poe, because you have no idea what he’s planned.
“Probably not, I’ll let you know.”
With your goodbyes said and a brief intermission to give Lucky some head scratches when you walk past, you hop back into the passenger seat of Poe’s car, ready for him to take you wherever he wants to go. He already seems brighter, lighter than he is back home, as if the sunshine is infecting him, building up in his veins.
The windows are rolled down, sunlight and warm morning air flooding the car. You have no idea where Poe’s taking you, but you’ll happily ride along with him, wherever he wants to go. Even as you take in the landscape, you can’t help turning to glance at Poe every so often, as if to make sure he’s as perfect as you remember.
He drives through the mainly empty country roads, but there’s more cars and people wandering by when you get closer to the small town a few miles from Kes’s house. It’s not very crowded though, and Poe finds a parking spot relatively quickly.
“I figured we could just walk around, I could show you my favorite spots growing up?” He asks as he rolls up the windows, as if you would ever turn down a chance to explore Poe’s hometown, to learn more about him.
“That sounds great,” you tell him as you unbuckle your seatbelt, and his face breaks out in a smile that’s so beautiful you almost want to cry. You’d agree to anything he asks just to see him smile like that.
The two of you make your way out of the car, starting your stroll around the little town that Poe grew up in. As he points out different stores, like the grocery store he used to work at and the ice cream shop he promises to take you to after lunch, it’s almost like you can see the little Poes running around; baby Poe led by his parents to get a scoop of ice cream or high school Poe meeting his friends outside of the grocery store after his shift.
It doesn’t take long for the two of you to reach the edge of the little downtown area, but luckily there’s a little park for you and Poe to continue walking around.
“Are there gators in there?” You ask him, staring down the pond in the center of the park out of the corner of your eye.
“Probably,” Poe shrugs, unable to hold back his smile. You snack him lightly on the shoulder before leaving your hand to swing between the two of you, brushing up against his every so often.
Most of the walk is spent in silence, just enjoying being next to each other as birds chirp and the sun shines. Even though you’ve been here for less than a day, you can already tell that this is Poe’s place; it seems like he just comes to life in the warm, sunny weather, seems more relaxed when surrounded by the buildings of his childhood.
“You ready to grab lunch?” He asks when you finish your loop around the little park, and as much as you want to keep walking, you want to listen to more of Poe’s stories even more. It seems like there’s something around every corner that prompts an anecdote from him, and you want to hear every single one.
Poe leads the two of you out of the park and down the street, his hand brushing yours with every step he takes. Soon, he stops in front of an old brick building and ushers you inside as he holds the door open.
Inside, it’s a bustling diner with practically every table full. Poe greets the waitress by name and ducks his head when she replies, “Well look who’s all grown up!”. Your meal passes quickly, especially due to the speedy service and the not-so-secret wink the waitress shot to Poe when she took your orders, but you spend as much time as you can prying Poe from stories.
He tells you about coming here with his parents on Saturday mornings, and with his father on the first and last day of school all the way until he graduated. He told you about the time he knocked out his front teeth when he fell face-first off a tire swing and the time he accidentally ate a fistful of sand at the beach.
“My dad still has the pictures somewhere,” he tells you after he finishes with his story of breaking his arm jumping off a tree the very same summer he lost his teeth.
“Well I know what I’m looking for when we get back.” You revel in the laugh he lets out, your own grin creeping across your face.
You don’t stop smiling, even after you leave the diner and Poe walks you down to the ice cream shop you’d passed earlier. It seems as if your smile will never leave your face as you laugh at Poe attempting to lick the melting ice cream off his hand and wrist, even as you avoid falling drops from your own cone.
Being with Poe feels like being a kid again, when there were no real problems and you could stay out and stay up as late as you wanted to. He reminds you of summertime, of laughing until you think you’re just about to pass out, of that giddiness you felt leading up to your very first kiss with the boy in your science class.
That heedy, giddy feeling doesn’t leave you, even as you climb back into Poe’s car and head back to the Dameron family home. There isn’t a single thing that could bring you down right now, not even the slowly brewing anxiety of sharing a bed with Poe for another night or the resurfacing memory of his confession from earlier.
You’re on top of the world.
When you get back to the house, Lucky is there to greet you with happy barks and a tail wagging so quickly you’re almost convinced he’s going to fly away. Instead, he almost trips Poe going up the stairs and then runs off, skidding across the kitchen floor once you’re inside.
As much as you love the warmth and the ability to go outside without wearing a hundred layers, the air conditioning of the house is certainly welcome. Kes, however, is nowhere to be found, but Poe just shrugs it off, reasoning that he probably had to run out to the store or run some errand or another.
“You want something to drink?” Poe asks, opening the refrigerator and peering inside. “We’ve got actual lemonade.”
Poe’s something of a lemonade snob, and looks down on any variety that comes in a can or a packet, claiming that it doesn’t taste right and he’d rather drink battery acid. According to him, his dad is one of the only people who knows how to make real lemonade, with freshly squeezed lemons and everything.
“Sure,” you respond, even though he’s already pulling out the pitcher before he’d even finished asking his question. He hands you your glass, and on your first sip you can already tell nothing will ever taste as good again. Poe doesn’t say anything, but you can see the I told you so dancing in his eyes as he peers at you over the rim of his glass.
The two of you head outside, the glasses in your hands starting to sweat almost immediately after you step foot on the back porch. Poe makes his way to sit on the steps, but you need to pause for a moment and take it all in.
There’s a big backyard, with tons of open space and a small garden close to the house. The orange trees Poe always mentioned in the stories of his childhood are scattered throughout the property, and you could swear you’re able to see little Poe running around and climbing the short branches, jumping up on his little legs to pull down the fruit.
As you’re picturing his past, Poe is turning back to look at you, a question in his eyes. You just shake your head, trying to rid yourself of the image of a little curly head and chubby hands sticky with juice, and sit yourself next to Poe on the wooden steps.
The heat seems to be getting to everyone, even Lucky, who flops himself on the porch next to you, tongue hanging out of his mouth and the wagging of his tail slowing to a rhythmic wave. You and Poe sit in silence, though you don’t mind it much, giving you the opportunity to stare off into space and imagine what Poe was like as he grew up bathed in sunshine and surrounded by heat, the perfect sunny boy growing into the man sitting next to you.
“What I was trying to say earlier-“ Poe starts but is cut off by the sound of the back screen door opening and Kes stepping outside.
“Jesus, it’s hot out here,” the older man says as both you and Poe turn to look at him, “you kids want to head inside? I can get dinner started as soon as y’all want.”
You look to Poe, ready to follow his lead but desperate to know what he was going to say, but you find he’s looking towards you. After a few moments of silence, Poe finally answers his father, “We haven’t seen the sun in a couple’a months, we be gotta enjoy it while we can,” stretching his legs out of the shade offered by the porch and into the Florida sun.
It’s only a few minutes later that you and Poe are warm beyond comfort, so you heave yourself off the porch step and follow Poe back into the house, where you’re greeted by air conditioning once again. You find Kes already starting dinner and he shoos both you and Poe away when you offer to help, so you seat yourself at the counter and keep him company while he cooks.
There’s a pit of yearning in your chest as you watch the banter between Poe and Kes, the smiles and infectious laughter and the pure joy that radiates off of them. But there’s still something about them that makes you feel like you’re finally home.
Sitting in Kes’s kitchen with him and Poe, laughing and sipping on lemonade while the warm air blows in through the screen door makes you feel the same way you feel whenever you see Rose and Rey and Finn. If it was up to you, you’d live in this moment for the rest of your life.
The rest of the evening passes in a similar way, the warm breeze and cricket noises drifting in from the screen doors and laughter and pure joy and comfort flooding your veins as you move from the kitchen to the dining room to the living room. Some time after dinner, with reruns of some old sitcom playing on the TV even though none of you are really paying attention, you excuse yourself to take a shower because you still feel sweaty even in the air conditioning.
Even though you try to shower quickly, you end up spending almost a half an hour responding to texts from your friends back home while you do your skincare. When you finally make your way back downstairs, you can hear Kes and Poe in a heated conversation, but they stop abruptly when you step into the living room.
After another hour or so, the heat and excitement of the day finally starts getting to you, so you head up to bed. Even though you said you wouldn’t mind if Poe came in later if he wanted to have some time to catch up with his dad, he comes up to bed with you.
“Mind if I hop in the shower?” Poe asks as you pull the covers back and slip into bed.
“Of course not,” you respond, and your heart almost gives out at how unbelievably sweet he is. You’ve only just settled in with your phone, scrolling through social media, when Poe comes in, curls mused and shirtless and you almost have a heart attack at how unbelievably beautiful he is.
He shuts off the lights before slipping into bed next to you, and you need to resist the urge to curl into him and rest your head on his chest. He smells clean, with an undercurrent of something warm and a little bit like oranges, as if the air from outside is still clinging to him, hours later.
Instead of curling into him, though, you shut off your phone and lay down on your back, staring up at the ceiling when you hear Poe clear his throat and make a choked-off sort of noise, like he was trying to say something but couldn’t.
“Earlier, this morning, on the porch,” he pauses and you turn to lay on your side facing him, “before my dad came out… I was trying to tell you something.”
“Mhm,” you settle for a vague noise of agreement because you’re sure that if you tried to speak, no words would come out.
“Well, I said you’re my best friend, and it’s true, I promise, but what I meant to tell you…” he stops, words caught in his throat and your heart is beating so unbelievably fast you’re almost convinced it’s going to burst through your rib cage.
“I know what you meant.”
“I don’t think you do.”
“No, really Poe,” you prop yourself up on your arm so you’re face to face and you can almost make out his gorgeous nose and long lashes, “I promise.”
The words hang thick in the air, and even though neither of you really said much of anything, you both know what the other is trying to say. Sometimes words just aren’t enough. Poe lets out a stuttering breath, one that fans across your face and sounds like pure relief.
“Really?” His voice is quiet, soft and awed in ways you’ve never heard from him before. You nod before you realize he can’t see you in the darkness of the room, so you respond, “Really.”
Now is the perfect time, you think, as you lean forward in an attempt to kiss him, before you realize it’s much too dark and you can only vaguely make out the outline of Poe’s face and you end up planting a soft kiss to the corner of his mouth that you feel turn upwards immediately after.
You’d normally feel embarrassed, but that crushing pressure of anxiety isn’t present in the pit of your stomach because you feel like you're floating, you’re soaring and nothing could ever bring you down.
Neither of you say another word, instead sliding underneath the covers and maneuvering yourselves around each other until you're comfortable, neither of you worrying if this is the right thing to do. It’s as if the stars have aligned and everything finally makes sense.

Modern au!Poe (no sw) x f!reader meet cute, Poe is going with his dog on a walk to the park and reader is a dog magnet but shy and sort of afraid of people ♥️ please? 🙏🏻
Cute Dog (modern au)
Summary : While on your daily walk, you run into a cute dog and his good looking owner. Warnings : none :) Notes : i havent written for poe in a while, so im excited to write this! (not proof read btw)
With spring just around the corner, you looked forward to your daily walks through the park. Flowers blooming, trees regrowing their leaves, animals returning from hibernation. If you ignored the allergies, it was your favorite time of the year for walks.
After working from home all day, you were ready for some fresh air. You laced up your converse, put on your hoodie and grabbed your headphones before leaving your apartment. You were lucky, your apartment was right across from a park with a bunch of paths.
You put your headphones on and hit play on your music before walking across the street to the park.
You were about half way through your walk when you heard barking. At first, you brushed it off as some dog just barking. It was a city park, there were bound to be dogs around. But the barking got louder and closer.
You looked down and saw a corgi racing towards you. You stopped, taking your headphones off as the corgi jumped onto your legs. You laughed, bending down to give the corgi some pets.
"Hey there, bud, what are you doing?" You asked, crouching so you could look at the tag. As you continued to scratch behind the corgi's ears, you lifted the shiny tag. "Bee-bee? Where's your owner, Bee-bee?"
You noticed the orange leash attached to the collar, grabbing it so Bee-bee wouldn't run away. You continued to pet Bee-bee, causing his tail to wag even more.
"Bee-bee!"
You looked up and saw a man running towards you, clearly out of breath. You quickly stood up, the leash still in hand, and watched as the man slowed to a stop, catching his breath. As you looked at him, you took in his features. His curly black hair, the stubble on his jawline, his shirt hanging just low enough to show the shiny chain underneath.
He was very handsome, making you suddenly shy.
"I'm so sorry about him. Sometimes he just gets excited over nothing and runs off," the man said, his hand on his hips as he ran his other hand through his hair.
"I-it's fine," you replied quietly, handing the leash over. "He's a cute dog."
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure my friends only visit to see him," he joked. "I"m Poe, by the way."
You told him your name then started to play with the hem of your sleeve, your attention going to that. Poe started to walk away, but Bee-Bee stayed put, still looking at you.
You looked up and saw Poe trying to get Bee-bee to go, but Bee-bee wouldn't budge.
"Looks like he likes you," Poe said, smiling a little.
"I guess he does," you answered, bending down to pet Bee-bee again.
You could feel Poe's eyes on you, making you a bit nervous, but you just kept petting Bee-bee. Maybe if you pet him enough, he'd get bored and would leave with Poe.
After a moment, Poe spoke up. "Uh, I know this may be a bit forward, but would you want to get some coffee sometime?" He asked.
You looked up. "What?"
"I mean, you and Bee-bee get along and you seem really sweet, so I just thought we could talk over coffee or something? If not, that's totally fine. I know this is kind of forward and out of nowhere."
You stood back up, a soft smile on your face. "I'd, um, I'd like that."
"Great! Would the cafe down the block work tomorrow morning? Around 10?"
"Yeah, that should work," you replied. "As long as you bring Bee-bee, too."
Poe laughed and you two said your goodbyes. You started to walk away, a pep in your step now. You were excited to see the cute corgi again, but you were mainly excited to see his handsome owner.

25 for the Valentine’s Day prompts with Poe
25. staying in and having a lazy day because that's what they enjoy most
Prompt List
The first few years of your relationship with Poe, you two would go all out for Valentine's day. Romantic dinners, a day filled with festivities, drinking, and loving each other with all of your hearts.
You still love each other just as much, but the effort to do anything for Valentine's Day just became too much. So these recent years, you two have celebrated Valentine's Day at home.
Valentine's Day was on a weekday this year. Therefore, Poe had to wake up and head to the auto shop and you had to open the cafe.
Dressed for the day, you two head to the kitchen and you're greeted to Beebs in a cupid costume next to heart shaped balloons and a gift bag in his mouth.
You crouch down and coo at the little corgi, "Aaaww! Beebs! Look at you! You're so cute!!"
The corgi wiggles his butt as he approaches you and you take the gift from him. You stand with a smirk and look at Poe, "We said no gifts."
He shrugs, "When do I ever listen?" he leans in and pecks your lips, "Happy Valentine's Day, baby."
You open the gift to reveal a mug with a bunch of corgis dressed as cupid, just like Beebs.
You giggle, "It's so cute!" You kiss him again and set the mug at the kitchen counter beside your collection of corgi mugs (all of which you've gotten since dating Poe).
"Alright. Let's head to work." You kiss Beebs on the head and take Poe's hand, both of you getting into his beat up truck and going to work.
______________________
When you both get home, you both strip from your work clothes and dress in tshirts and sweatpants. Unlike the rest of the world, you two don't go out for the holiday. Instead, you spend the rest of the day lounging around your shared home.
With Beebs beside you, you and Poe become couch potatoes. You lazily lounge, cuddling with each other and catching up on the shows you've gotten behind on.
Poe's hand rubs up and down your arm in a comforting rhythm, matching the beat of his heart that pounds against your ear. Your head resting on his chest brings him peace and warmth.
You don't care much for celebrating Valentine's all big and grand like before. At the core, this is how you and Poe have always been. So relaxed, comforting, and loving to each other. This is both what you love most, enjoying each other in this way.
You look up at Poe and he smiles at you, "Hm?"
"I love you."
"I love you too, baby," he murmurs, leaning down to kiss your lips, "Happy Valentine's Day."
"Happy Valentine's Day," you reply and snuggle back into Poe.

Poe's Roommate by makeshiftcandy ch 1/1 | rated E
a short and silly socmed AU originally published on Twitter
"Poe had decided long before he got home from work that he was gonna finally sit down and watch The Batman.
Ben’s (obnoxiously loud) bedroom antics weren’t about to stop that ship from sailing."

Finnpoe Week Day 3: Sharing clothes/The jacket
I decided to draw a scene from a Modern AU, lovingly called Hallmark Villains AU, I've started writing some time ago. Sadly I have not written that scene yet 😅. But instead have another excerpt from their first meeting. Maybe I'll manage to finish the parts I have already written in time for Modern AU 🤞🏼.
Hallmark Villains, sneak peak under the cut.
"What can I do for you?" The same voice from before addressed him again.
Finn turned back to the reception desk and met a pair of warm brown eyes. In this moment Finn realised two things: He definitely swinged more on the sexual side of bicuriosity than he had previously assumed. And he appearently had a thing for brown eyes, dark curls and dirt streaks in a face. Not that he was that interested in meeting anyone new in the like five first minutes of his spontaneous single status. But Finn had always appreciated beauty in all forms, be it colorful birds nesting in curious places or camp and flamboyant fashion choices or hot bed&breakfast persons.
"I need a room for a night. You are my only hope."
The man laughed.
"We have indeed some rooms left."
Finn released the breath he had not been aware holding.
"Thank fuck. You are a life safer."

@flufftober Flufftober Day 1: Lost Pet Meet Cute
- - -
The sun was high and bright and there was a cool breeze blowing, the latter of which Finn was incredibly grateful for as he carefully measured his breaths, jogging in time with everyone else in his troop. Left-right breath, left-right breath, left-right breath, left— something was disrupting the carefully ordered ranks, causing a ripple of faltering. Finn heard snatches of confusion and a muttered curse from a voice recognizable as Casey, three rows ahead of him. Finn briefly wondered what was going on, but brushed it off as a lost bug or something. Then, something fast, heavy, and ground-level rocketed between Gullet and Rocky and crashed into Finn’s legs.
The ‘trooper squawked, uselessly pinwheeled his arms, and went down hard. Finn groaned and spat grass, half-heartedly glaring at a yipping white-and-orange blob prancing about in front of him. Gullet laughed teasingly at him once he struggled back to his feet.
“Rough day for the underdog, huh?”
Finn groaned.
“I swear, your puns get worse and worse every time.” He grumbled playfully.
Rocky whacked Gullet’s shoulder and smiled sympathetically at Finn.
“Hey, man, it’s okay.” His smile turned into a mischievous little smirk and he nodded toward the little go prancing about a few feet away. “Every dog has its day.”
Finn rolled his eyes and flipped them both off, accompanied by cackling from the terrible two.
Captain Phasma gave an unintelligible order and everyone snapped back into rank, ready to continue their lap around the park. Gullet went ahead, but Rocky lingered for a moment, having noticed Finn’s lack of reaction.
“You coming, FN?” He asked.
Finn shook his head and waved on his troopmate.
“You go ahead, I’m going to try and find this little pup’s owner.” He said.
Rocky raised an eyebrow.
“The cap’n isn’t gonna be happy with you for skipping. Ya sure?” He asked cautioningly.
Finn, like everyone in his troop, had a healthy fear of getting on Phasma’s bad side, but he was still aching from his accidental collision with the ground, and the temptation of a break won out over the fear.
“Yeah, I’m sure. Save me a protein bar, would you?” Rocky waited a moment longer, presumably for Finn to change his mind, but eventually shrugged and jogged after their troop, tossing a quick “Your funeral, man,” over his shoulder as he left.
Finn watched him go, then turned his gaze to the little dog that had bowled him over. For some reason it hadn't run off and was instead sitting there, its leash lying limp in the ground. It looked as though it was smiling up at him, its mouth open and tongue lolling out happily. Finn put his hands on his hips and sighed.
“Well, what am I going to do with you?”

Poe was having a great day. Just in the past three hours, he’d nearly crashed a plane during a test flight, the barista at his local coffee shop had taken too much time for Poe to spare as well as messing up his order, and his dog Beebee had decided to run off. He was having a very great day. Now he was metaphorically running late for a meeting and also running around the (very large) park in a very literal sense, calling for Beebee. Also, he was panicking about both things. And he’d missed a call from General Leia, whom he very much did not want to piss off. What a very very great day he was having. Coincidentally, he was also having a mild freakout, which he felt was incredibly justified.
- - -
Finn picked up the leash and started walking aimlessly, scanning the surrounding area as he did so. No one seemed to be missing a dog… wait, no, someone with dark hair was running around on the other side of the park, looking panicked and shouting something. Finn decided that they would be a good place to start and started jogging. The dog, who had been calmly walking by his side, perked up when it noticed where they were running and decided to bolt. The leash ripped out of Finn’s hand and within a blink, the dog was scampering away. Finn groaned and ran after it, mentally chiding himself about getting involved.
- - -
Poe heard a familiar bark and whirled around, knelt, and opened his arms, shouting joyfully as Beebee barreled into him.
“Oh, Bee, I was so worried about you! You know better than to run off like that, you’ve been a very bad doggy, yes you have!” He scolded, scratching her belly and under her chin. Beebee didn't look the slightest bit chastised, in fact, she was practically laughing at him. She was probably so pleased with herself, the sneaky little pupper.
Someone coughed, and Poe looked up, noticing for the first time a handsome, dark-skinned individual lingering awkwardly a few feet away.
“Hey! This your dog?” They asked, in a voice that was deep and rich and smooth and Poe’s brain got stuck on their voice as he started talking:
“Yup! Beebee Ayte-Dameron, Jack Russel terrier, and a professional pain in my ass. Were you the one who found her?” He asked, putting on a charming grin.
“More like she found me.” The handsome stranger chuckled wryly, and Poe noticed dirt stains on their knees and grass on their shirt.
“Or, well, more accurately, tackled me.” The handsome stranger met Poe’s gaze with soft brown eyes that Poe was very tempted to just sink into forever.
“I’m very sorry, she’s quite the tough pup.”
A quiet beep from Poe’s watch brought him crashing back down to the present. General Leia was going to kill him. He grabbed Beebee’s leash and rummaged around in his pocket for a scrap of paper and a pen, which he thankfully found, and scribbled down his phone number in messy, scrawly, still hopefully legible handwriting.
“Hey, man, I owe you one. Call me, I’ll treat you to coffee sometime! Not now though, if I don’t get going my general is going to legally murder me and hide my body in a dumpster. Thanks for finding my dog, and it was very nice to meet you!” Poe exclaimed, shoving the paper into the stranger’s hands. They smiled tentatively, looking up again with those brown eyes.
“Poe?”
Poe really liked the way they said his name.
“That’s me.”
The stranger’s smile widened.
“My name’s Finn.”
Poe grinned and started jogging away.
“Nice to meet you, Finn!”
