Guess who turned 7 years old?

SPLATOON 2!!!!! Everyone's favourite Splatoon game!!!! Right? Right guys....? We love Splatoon 2 yeah....? It's the best one right.....? Totally not gonna become the middle child of the series that gets overshadowed by the new fresh Splatoon 3 and the nostalgia of the first game right.....?

Okay, jokes aside about if Splatoon 2 is actually good or not. This was the game that actually got me into Splatoon, I knew about the series since it's announcement but I couldn't play the first game because like the rest of general public, I didn't own a wii u. Still don't but I would love to have one to mod. (And play Splatoon 1 online with fan servers...)

I think Splatoon 2 really did bring a lot of cool stuff to the table and it had a lot of quality of life features and interesting weapon, sub and special concepts.

It gave us the dualies!! THE DUALIES! I LOVE THE DUALIES!

It gave us the brellas! Which.... were kinda bad at launch and still are bad till this day....

BUT! I dont wanna talk about weapons because thats BORING! I wanna talk about one of the best things Splatoon 2 gave us...

OFF THE HOOK! PEARL AND MARINA! These girls are some of the most popular characters in the series and for good reason. They are both funny, likeable, charming, witty and have developed backstories by the time Octo Expansion comes around. Plus their chemistry is top-notch and so damn CUTE! It's almost has if they are somehow more than friends and that kind of connection is canon and people who try to deny it are fucking idiots and will never be in a relationship of their own.....

Also Splatoon 2 gave us a pretty solid hero mode at launch, sure it was basically more Splatoon 1 hero mode but hey, the first hero mode was fun so more of the same is fine by me. Plus you get Marie's classic snark too while you go through levels, she's nice company surprisingly. Way better than some old ass crusty dude...

totally didn't fuck up my mental health this year and last year and caused me chest pain and discomfort until I had to dig and dig AND DIG for knowledge just to salvage it and make sure my favourite character in the fucking series was given the respect she deserves....

....hypno/octo Callie.... totally didn't fuck up this villain arc for her huh Nintendo? Totally didn't throw away the depth you built up (and was shown in concept art) only to try and hastily fix it 2 years later with an obscure relationship chart no one fucking talks about, not even the timeline explainers...

totally didn't use the wrong terminology to describe her situation and made everything so much worse because you wanted a simple black and white story for the kiddies yeah Nintendo? Despite you making stuff grey in the dlc expansion so the both story modes now clash like oil and water theme wise.

And yet you still treat her like dirt. Still using the wrong poorly localised words. If I still gotta repeat to the sky one more time that callie was under hypnosis and not forceful brainwashing I might have a stroke. You can't even fucking brainwash someone with hypnosis because the limitation of hypnosis is that the person under it must be fully comfortable with the suggestion and the suggestion cannot go agaisnt their morals and ideology. AND GUESS WHAT BRAINWASHING IS! FORCING DIFFERENT IDEOLOGIES INTO SOMEONE'S HEAD! DO YOU GET WHY I HAVE AN ISSUE NOW?!?!?! JUST USE THE WORD HYPNOTISED NINTENDO! THATS ALL YOU GOTTA DO!! ILL BE SOOO HAPPY!!!

YOU TOO INKIPEDIA! I CAUGHT YOU USING THE WORD TOO MULTIPLE TIMES! you better change it... just change brainwashed to hypnotised and I would literally kiss you on the lips or something idk... I love you inkipedia but that's all you gotta change okay? Pretty please? With a cherry on top?

OCTO EXPANSION BABY! I know people love to call this overrated now but I really don't care. It's not overrated, it's perfectly rated. It also gave us PLAYABLE OCTOLINGS! Which was a highly requested thing people really really wanted and they gave us what we asked for! Even though they lacked a lot of customisation options.... still do till this day... (Nintendo is it really that hard to come up with new hair? The community has been doing that for years for you man.)

And of course... the last thing I want to talk about...

This is probably my favourite Splatfest to date. It brought in a lot of actual genuine philosophical discussion on what kind of world is best, a world of chaos? Or a world of order? I chose team chaos because when the youtuber/streamer Etika was still around he chose team chaos and I chose that team because of him... rest in peace...

The shifty station too was phenomenonal as you got to hear Fly Octo Fly and Pearl would come in AND YOU GOT TO USE HER PRINCESS CANON!!!! IT WAS SO FUCKING COOL AHHHH!!!

God Pearl is so cool... i can't believe I actually used to dislike her. I wanna beat up teen me so badly for having such bad takes. Marina is hot sure, but, Pearl is just so fucking funny. Man what was wrong with 13 to 17 year old me....

Anyways, I wanted to ramble about Splatoon 2. It's pretty special to me as it was the reason I am here today, so I can't really criticise it as much as others do. Well... aside from one obvious thing but, I've done that many times.

Also, before I go... NINTENDO!!! BRING BACK SHIFTY STATIONS FOR SPLATOON 4!!! DO IT!!! STOP BEING COWARDS!!!!

and kier, you have GOT to know this, half of the writing was done by you. if not in reality, then in spirit - all those times i thought i was going insane by staring at the doc, you pulled me out of it. i am absolutely, eternally grateful for your consistent presence throughout this entire journey. because that's what it was, wasn't it? a journey, starting with new beginnings and ending with - if i allow myself not to be modest for a moment - a masterpiece. this is my longest work to date. and i have you to thank for that. from complaining endlessly in the google doc to watching httyd together, you have been there the whole time, and i cannot stress enough how absolutely wonderful all this has been.

Homebrew Mechanic: Earlybird Initiative

Because folks seemed to like my last write up for a combat systems, I figure I'd share one of my most enduring game mods.

I've tried SO MANY different initiative systems over the years, enough that I have pretty strong opinions on what makes a good one. My primary goal was to cut down on time that players spend waiting for their turns, as slow combat is one of the primary things that bleeds fun out of the sessions: Players who are bored waiting for their turn check out, which makes them slower and less decisive when the spotlight swings back around to them, this makes it longer for imitative to circle around and creates a feedback loop where player's attention becomes further and further taxed. I needed a system that did the opposite, kept everyone on their toes, engaged, and cooperative, as well as something that was exceptionally light weight.

Step 1: DM says "roll initiative", all players roll as normal, add their modifiers, but keep the number to themselves.

Step 2: The DM Calls out " twenty and above", and then every player who got 20 or above in imitative can take their turn in whatever order they wish, splitting up actions however they wish around each other in order to coordinate.

Step 3: Enemies who got 20 or above on their initiative go. Lair actions trigger.

Sep 4: DM says "Ten and Above", Repeat steps 2 and 3 with players followed by monsters, then again saying " Everyone else" for everyone who hasn't gone.

Step 5: If combat is still going DM says "Initiative resets" and everyone rolls their initiative shuffling combat positions , repeat until "how do you want to do this?" moment.

That's pretty much it. There's a bunch of little things you can do to speed things up (like only rolling initiative for important enemies while the rank and file have static initiative based on whether they're fast, medium, or slow) but largely this simplifies the logistics of having to keep up with combat to a few lighting fast beats. Everyone's engaged because they know their turn is only one or two steps away rather than forgetting where they sit in an ever shifting round-robin.

Literally every group I've introduced this to over the past three years has loved it to the point where they find combat run by other DMs painfully slow by comparison. I don't know what's a greater endorsement than that.

Alcoholic

Submission:

[Alcoholic] woke up in the body of a guy on Earth some years in the past and decided(read got forced) to go into the entertainment industry.  This guy egosurfs a lot, was an alcoholic and got an intervention for it. Plus he goes to therapy!! Also got kidnapped once and escaped by beating up the kidnapper . There was also the one time he went into a parallel universe.

Mod Propaganda: [Alcoholic] (seemingly) starts the novel with a “I’ll do anything to survive” mindset but grows to genuinely care about and for his friends while dealing with a LOT. He’s smart and calculating, which also manifests itself in supporting his friends and the people around him AS WELL AS himself.

Boccia

He’s a demon. He wanders the human realm to find little human trinkets, possibly to sell them. He is a good boy who wants to make a living, and deserves to be acknowledged.

Farmer Guy

Submission: [Farmer Guy] was reborn in a xianxia world after living a boring life as a civic engineer in Canada. He spent about 24 hours in a cultivation sect before quitting due to bullying and corruption in the sect, and decided to move to bumfuck nowhere to take up farming instead. After all, superstrenght & endurance makes it way easier to pull a plow, put up buildings & so on. So why is his chicken starting to do martial arts?

Moonlight

Submission: 

[Moonlight] is the boy of all time. From his perspective, he successfully scouted out a talented new coworker, got blatantly propositioned while the ink was still wet on the contract, thought "wow, this guy is forward, but we really need his skills so... okay," within a month had fully progressed to, "it's fine to get married first and fall in love later," and then just. fell SO HARD. for a guy who, in his own POV sections, HAD NO IDEA his behavior even could be interpreted as flirty. For his actual character, the gap moe between "doting thinks-he's-a-boyfriend" and "super serious taskmaster" is adorable. 

Sunshine

Submission: 

My sunshine son!! Got isekai'd into another world pretty similar to his original one, and basically just went "welp, time to restart my career from the bottom! I did it once, I can do it again!"  Re: the differences from his original world, he straight-up just asks people questions and takes notes in front of them? And when they're like "how do you not know this, this is preschool level knowledge," he just laughs and goes, "yeah, I'm really forgetful and didn't pay attention in school." Iconic, honestly. Still doesn't stop him from mistaking social cues so thoroughly that he  accidentally gets into a romantic relationship without realizing it, due to having multiple chicken-and-duck conversations with his would-be boyfriend. (He got into the situation by basically propositioning the guy without noticing, having not paid attention to the social differences between worlds.)

Poor Single Dog

Submission: 

[Poor Single Dog]! My brilliant dumbass son! He's so book smart, yet can't see what's right in front of his face. He's really concerned about losing his Best Friend Status when the protags start spending time together (read: going out, because they're in love). There is no level of PDA he can't misunderstand as mere friendship. When he FINALLY gets hit by a clue-by-four (read: walks in on the main couple cuddling while doing the dishes, and one of them says, quote, "This is EXACTLY what it looks like!") his reaction is: [Poor Single Dog] remained silent for what seemed like a century. Finally, amidst his chaotic thoughts, he said: “You….so….then, am I still your best friend?”

Also I added the "He needs a more lore accurate song" part to Steven's thing because the songs of him currently do NOT sound as sad as they should be when it comes to Steven's lore and yes I am now gonna ramble about why Steven isn't actually heartless, was this an excuse? yes Okay so like you know how Mike accidentally offed Miki? Has anyone noticed how Steven got support from NO ONE except Mike? Even then all Mike said was "I'm so sorry", that is NOT enough when your brother just lost the Pokemon he spent his ENTIRE journey with and probably saw as his own kid Everyone else can be summed up as "oh just tough it up shit like this happens" Which back in the day, yes that was normal, so Steven had NO ONE besides the one person who caused this despair over something avoidable Oh and before you say "he had Daisy" NO TF HE DID NOT Daisy deserves to be INCINERATED, she did NOT help Steven at all, she did NOT comfort or care for him AT ALL, all she said was "Please don't leave home again" like NO!!! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO HOLD HIM IN YOUR ARMS AND COMFORT HIM!!!!! So what does he turn to in order to feel happy? MISSINGNO! Since Missingno had the ability to bring Miki back, Steven turned to it even though there would obviously be consequences since that was all he had left People seem to think that Steven is heartless when in reality he's most likely just in a really mindset and was led down a really horrible path just to feel happy again since NO ONE else would give him the support he needed

Sasha as Red Riding Hood:

During submissions, I became so absolutely excited when I saw this pop up. I don't know who decided to submit it, but they unlocked some childhood memories for me. Back when I was a child, my family visited Pakistan (my parent's country of origin) for the entire summer. One day I, bored, asked for some movies to watched and my parents and uncle brought back some clearly bootlegged DVDs dubbed in Hindi/Urdu, and Bratz Kids Fairy Tales was one of them. I watched it so many times, you have no idea- I think that I might have wrecked the whole DVD with how much I watched it. (A similar thing happened later on when I obtained a clearly bootlegged copy of Bratz Fashion Pixie too but that's another, non-Red Riding Hood related story.) I wasn't surprised that it was eliminated right off the bat, but my childhood nostalgia dictated I put it here, or else I would be betraying the 7-year-old in me.

Shang, Tao, and Paotze:

Another childhood favorite of mine. This picture book has such beautiful art and I remember being very surprised by the story as a child. I found a PDF of it online to reread when the contest started and honestly it still holds up. The three sisters that are the Red Riding Hood in the story I feel are genuinely very clever. And for nothing else, look this one up solely for it's beautiful art which is just breath-taking whether you're a child or an adult!

Lamb:

Not going to lie I never played this game. My good friend who I adore submitted this to the poll and it immediately got eliminated and I just felt bad lol. But it does look cool & I trust their taste so I do think that this game is great. I want to play it but I am really bad at getting myself to play games.

Aku:

Samurai Jack is a CLASSIC and I dare you to not watch this clip and crack up. Mako was a gift of voice acting and I miss him so much. Also this episode is just pretty amusing.

Amy Lee:

My sister was actually the one to submit this and I will use her own propaganda here: "Evanescence was a voice of a generation." Honestly this song is kind of just okay, there are better Evanescence songs, but got to respect the effort they put into the music video. Who can resist to choose Amy Lee anyway?

The Path sisters:

Like many people who know this game, I know it through Izzzyzzz's two video essays on it. I didn't play the game afterwards, but I did watch some play-throughs since I don't play many games + it seemed mostly like a walking simulator anyway so I felt like I got the same effect. It is AMAZING and has so much story and analysis and I love shit like that... In particular, Scarlet, Ruby, and Rose are my favorites whose stories really resonated with me, even if I haven't exactly gone through their life experiences. Ginger too. And there's some really horrific imagery in Robin's...I would recommend everyone find a way to experience this game-- whether that's playing it, watching Izzzyzzz's videos, or finding a walk-through/analysis of it, it's worth it!

Lisette:

So this manga is sort of obscure but it is also sort of nostalgic to me. Well, nostalgic by proxy. My sister read it when I was younger and told me some details about it and for some reason it stuck with me. Like??? For no reason. It's not even that good lmao. The first chapter right off the bat is pretty edgy & handles sensitive topics very badly. But goddamn if I do not think about random elements of the story for no reason. I don't really remember shit about Lisette but hey this picture of her looks really cool.

Red:

If you notice a theme among these being "nostalgia" you would be right, as this was another nostalgic offering from my childhood that I would watch semi-annually. I was also fond of the sequel, though I thought it felt like a different series than the first one. (Which isn't unusual with animated sequels to popular movies, but the fact that the sequel was set-up by the ending of the first one implies it was planned? Weird). But anyway Red is iconic and funny and voiced by Anne Hathaway and also her sad emo song "Red is Blue" sometimes still gets stuck in my head, so take that as you will.

Chacha:

I know absolutely nothing about this series. But it looks very cute so I like it. I love cute magical girls they deserve the world. Also I looked it up and apparently the Studio who did the Akazukin Chacha anime would later do the Yu-Gi-Oh animes from the 2000s and 2010s, so there's the obligatory mention of nostalgia.

Surviving recoms and their hair post-ATWOW...

((THIS IS PART 1/3!! Linking the rest to this post as  I cover Mansk and Miles...)) Let’s get some context out of the way first.

- They probably didn’t do their haircuts themselves before, anyways

- They’d know how to use a shaving razor

- They didn’t have any with them back when they had to flee RDA to avoid excecution or worse punishments

Lyle, Miles and Mansk are stuck in the wilderness now, just the three of them.

What will happen to their hair?

Lyle Wainfleet

- He had stubble before (yes, it’s just less noticeable than in the old concept art) so facial hair growth is inevitable

- As a human and a recom, he always felt more youthful and handsome when he kept his face clean-shaven and his head bald, to avoid having to look at his receding hairline

- He was the only one who did his own shaves because his style was so simple; just be bald and clean-shaven

- Well, as a stray cat he doesn’t have any comfortable tools at his disposal for shaving. So he has no choice but to grow out his hair and beard.

- He ties his hair back to keep it out of the way. Some of the weaker-growing strands in the top of the hairline will remain shorter and hang freely.

- He gets the idea to braid his beard from Mansk, so he does.

- He experiences body positivity with the receding hairline for the first time, - feels kind of handsome with it.

- Here is Lyle after.. Even more time in the wilds. The braids and the wooden pearls are the skilled work of Mansk, who is an artistic and crafty person.

- He says “Ooraahh!” when thinking about legends of bearded wild men and being one. It doesn’t seem so bad anymore, it’s kinda his new “trademark”, just like being bald used to be. ((He still misses shaving, but tries to not think about it...))

- Aand... Then we come to the part of the story arc where Lyle and Mansk (not Quaritch, he’s missing somewhere out there) get taken in by a na’vi tribe.

- Na’vi provide their own shaving tools and teach Lyle to use them

- He decides to get rid of the big beard, but notices how his neatly shaved and styled goatee and moustache are seen as... Attractive and exotic outlines to his face, so he keeps them and is really proud of the style. His facial hair is quite the conversation-starter when meeting new na’vi!

- Shaves off most of his hair, but keeps some on the top and conceals it with big wooden pearls.

- Lyle loves body mods and was bored in the military due to not being able to get any, so he got some nice ear piercings!

- While flying, he wears a helmet that warms up his bald head and also provides protection to his eyes from the air flow.

- He looks pretty nice and mellow... Because he is. Lyle isn’t naturally someone who’d hold crudges. He’s loyal, loving and forgiving. The na’vi life and spirituality helped him come to touch with this side of himself.

As promised, here’s the Part 2 of the previous story. But way later than I anticipated. I don’t care, you get it regardless, so you shouldn’t care, either.

Lets begin.

So last Thursday, on my last day of actual school classes, I was in Mod 2 for 2nd period. Mod 2 is the arts mod: acting, art, music, yearbook, you get it. There was also that one class that was just English. Dunno what it was doing in Mod 2, I didn’t ask it, it didn’t tell me.

Anyway, I was supposed to be in math, in Mod 5. But I decided to skip and go to Mod 2.

Just kidding, we had permission. My friend (let’s call her Ann) wanted to learn Rush E on the piano, and so she asked the teacher if she could go. So the teacher called the teacher that was going to teach Ann the song, and in the middle of the call, Ann points at me, and asks the teacher, “Can I take this one with me?” And the teacher said I could.

So we go. And when we get there, Ann starts learning Rush E, and I just start putzing around, playing on one of the other pianos, and then reading once I got bored. I sat down, and then later decided to move away from this one group of girls, because they were filming TikToks and cussing a lot. I just didn’t wanna be around it. So as I’m moving, this girl storms in, and she is mad.

And she storms up to someone in the class, and starts yelling at her, going “So you’re gonna throw water at me?”

Or something like that. I can’t fully remember. But the following conversation is basically what happened (The one who stormed in will be Angry Girl, the other girl will just be Other Girl):

Other Girl: “I didn’t throw water at you.”

Angry Girl: “You did, you threw water at me in the hall.”

Other Girl: “I didn’t throw water at you in the hall, but I’ll do it for real right here.”

Meanwhile, the teacher that was teacher Ann the song caught notice of this, and sat on the table that was separating the two girls, and just starts staring at Angry Girl, trying to get her to look at her, so she can diffuse the situation. But that didn’t work.

Other Girl takes her water bottle, takes the cap off,

And flings water at Angry Girl. A good amount of water, too.

Everything went downhill from there. Angry Girl launches herself at Other Girl, and they start fighting, knocking chairs down, just causing mayhem. It was nuts.

Finally, another faculty member is able to peel Angry Girl off Other Girl, and starts dragging her out of the class. Angry Girl isn’t having this, she’s resisting the teacher, yelling at her, cussing at her, just being an overall jerk. The teacher who’s dragging her then asked the art teacher, “Can she stay in here?” And basically locks her in the art room. I don’t know what happened to Other Girl after that. But pretty quick after that ordeal settled down, we were banished from that room for the rest of class while the faculty basically ran an investigation.

Y’all, it was NUTS.

It also goes to show the difference between when guys and girls fight. When girls fight, the mean it. They’re out for blood. They’ll pull hair and hold grudges for 5 years.

But when guys fight, they throw a punch or two, and then 5 minutes later one goes, “Hey wanna go to McDonald’s?”

It’s so funny to see the vast difference between the two.

Get To Know You - Sims Style

What’s your favorite Sims death?

I haven’t had any sims die recently, but I do have one wild story from several years ago.

When my 2nd Gen heir Maya and her sister went off to university, they stayed in the sorority house. The general university shenanigans were taking place (sims not cleaning up after themselves, piles of laundry everywhere, etc.), but I didn’t realize some of their roommates weren’t eating... until it was too late 😬

THREE (3) girls in the dorm died in one night! Two of starvation and the third from thirst (idk how she became a vampire). Since they all died so close together, the Grim Reaper just hung around the dorm until he reaped all of them. I had Maya collect their tombstones and take them back with her to Lucky Palms when the semester ended. Now they’re all resting in the mausoleum, hopefully in peace lol.

Alpha CC or Maxis Match?

Maxis-match with some alpha pieces here and there. Though I feel like the line between what’s considered maxis-match and what’s considered alpha in TS3 is way more blurred that in TS4.

Do you cheat your sims weight?

Rarely. Some of EA’s premades are just so skinny sometimes!

Do you move objects?

All. The. Time. I can’t remember a time where I’ve played or built without it on. It makes it so much easier to squeeze sitting chairs or plants or floor lamps into tight corners and make nice collages of different wall art that overlap each other a little.

Favorite Mod?

Gosh there are so many mods that I absolutely love, and lately the TS3 modding scene has been putting out banger after banger, but my most recent favorite mod is @thesweetsimmer111′s More Toddler Interactions! I love being able to feed toddlers outside of the highchair and actually give them baths. And Savanita’s animations are always so cute!

I did a few years ago, but I never got around to playing her. I wonder if I still have my simself’s household somewhere...

I haven’t used an EA preset hair in 10,000 years, but I guess the black one isn’t too terrible.

Mostly gameplay (and testing mods/cc :p). When I build, it’s usually remodeling the interior of an already existing build.

Yes!! I started with TS4 to TS3 conversions, but I’m also a modder now 😁

The Sims 3 community on Tumblr is pretty small, and I feel like we all know, follow, or are in a Discord server with each other (shoutout to the TS3 Creator’s Cave members!!). So, in a way, we’re all in the same squad ✌

Unfortunately, no.

How has your “Sims style” changed throughout your years of playing?

I used to exclusively play with families and progress through a few generations, but recently, I’ve been playing with more single sims to experience parts of the game I hadn’t really touched on before. I’ve also gotten a lot better at avoiding “same face” syndrome when I give existing sims a makeover or make them from scratch. Getting more comfortable with custom sliders has definitely helped with that too.

The Sims 3: Seasons! I love watching the seasons change, the holidays, the festivals, and the feeling of progression. I also love snow and the winter season in real life, especially when I was younger, so seeing my sims going about their day in a snow covered world is very nostalgic for me.

With HEX 2023 behind us and being only a few hours away from wrapping up yet another year, I just want to say a HUMONGOUS thank you to @fitztragedy and @skloomdumpster - the most wonderful duo of Discord admins I’ve met so far! I am forever grateful to you both for creating the Winxsource server where I’ve met some of the best people in the world (both of you included ❤️). I can only imagine how difficult it is to not only create the event calendar for the whole year but also keep it running and fixing up all the details in each event. Of course, we also have our wonderful mods to thank for streamlining the process (yes, you @septemberrie ) ❤️ So, thank you all for giving me a chance to be part of this wonderful group of people, for urging me to participate in events, and for literally making some of the worst days somewhat more bearable 🥰

It’s not much, but with a few free hours between plane rides, I whipped up a short Rivusa and Skloom drabble for my Rivusa and Skloom queens 😆 I know it’s short and it doesn’t even begin to express my happiness and feelings for everything you do, but I hope it does let you know that we in the whole server adore you guys 🥰

“I just can’t stand him sometimes!” Musa groaned as she slumped on the sofa in the suite, closing her eyes and letting her head fall back.

“What did he do?” Stella, the ever-so-subtle Riven disliker (to put it mildly), asked without moving her head away from inspecting her new soft pink nail polish, her tone matching the bored look on her face.

“I don’t understand it!” The empath sprung up, startling the other girl. “How can someone pretend to be so self-centered-”

“Pretend?” The princess quirked an eyebrow, still holding an uninterested note to her words.

“-and keep arguing with me knowing he’s completely wrong.” Musa jumped from her seat and stormed off to her room, only to return a second later and stride to the counter in the makeshift suite kitchen. “Idiot,” she murmured while taking a sip from the glass of vine she poured in for herself.

“Musa?” Bloom slammed the door open, turning her head around. “There you are! Come with me,” she said as she hooked her arm under hers and started walking back toward the door.

“Wha- Hey!” The empath barely got enough time to slide the glass on the counter, watching it oscillate and slowly stop. “Where are we going?”

“I have something to show you,” the ginger replied, pulling her out of the suite and walking fast down the hallway.

“But I have more to tell Stella. Ri-”

“Yeah, yeah, tell her later.” She made a sharp turn, her hand gripping the mind fairy’s tighter to make sure she wouldn’t stammer from the way she was practically running in the school halls.

“Can you tell me where we’re going at least?”

“Secret.”

Musa’s eyes flickered purple. The way Bloom uttered that one word made that little voice in her head that always pushed her to use her powers in situations that could be deemed intrusive rear its head. There were some of the usual emotions - a hint of anger enough to fire up her powers, a pinch of worry saved for everyone she knew, a huge amount of love. But none of those interested her; no, it was a tiny hazy dot the fire fairy tried her best to hide.

She knew it was wrong - Riven had told her countless times to stay out of people’s heads and not mess with them. But the fairy was hiding something and by the way her hands started getting warmer around Musa's wrist, the empath had a hunch it was something concerning her.

So she did the only thing she could think of at that moment that wasn’t going to hurt their friendship.

“Bloom,” Musa rooted herself to the ground, tugging her hand back, “What’s going on?”

The ginger pivoted on her heels, her eyes rampantly moving around. She tried to grab Musa’s hand again, but the other girl quickly reacted and pulled the hand to her chest.

Well, that was weird. Musa had never seen her friend react like that - something aking to scared, like she was running out of time. But the emotions she was feeling - excitement and expectation to the point the empath got dizzy from it - didn’t align with her actions.

“We really don’t have time for this, Musa.”

“Time for what?” She pushed, taking a little step back as a way to show her she was not only not going with her but also was ready to run back if she had to.

“Oh my…” Bloom groaned exasperatedly. “Look,” she pushed her chin up, the black pupils eating up their blue cuffs, “Do you trust me?”

“Bloom-”

“Do you. Trust. Me?” She put a heavy emphasis on every word, never wavering her gaze.

Musa felt defeated. Because of course, she did. The girl had saved them multiple times; Musa herself had put her life on the line several times so Bloom would live on to save the world. So how could she say no now?

“OK,” she muttered and started walking back to her.

The second she came a foot away from Bloom, the ginger grabbed her hand and started sprinting, dragging the empath behind her. She dashed left and right, avoiding a few students, but leaving Musa to crash into them, papers flying in every direction. And yet, the fire fairy didn’t seem to notice a thing - not Musa yelling for her to stop and certainly not the rest of the students screaming some very colorful words at them.

“Made it!” Bloom finally announced. They came before Sky’s bedroom, facing the door.

Musa leaned forward, her hands on her knees, and started bringing in all the air she could pull in tiny rapid puffs. It took her a minute to regain herself, after which she straightened up and began screaming at the girl next to her.

“Are you insane?! What the hell was that?!”

“Door,” the fairy panted, trying to point to the room before them. Bent forward, she held the same position as Musa had a few seconds ago, only her hair was flipped down, hanging in front of her face.

“Yeah, that’s the door to your boyfriend’s room. Now what the hell did you drag me here for?!”

“Door!” Bloom used every single ounce of strength she had left to look up at the empath and point at the door again. “Go in you idiot!”

Pushing her from behind, Musa hit the wooden rectangle before her - nose first. “Ouch!” she said, rubbing the sore spot and imagining what she’d do to her friend once she turned around.

But before anything else, the door swung open, and against her better judgment, Musa gazed up. She had a few other words to say, all curses of course, but they were gone as she was left there staring at the all-familiar green jades.

His features were soft, eyes slanted into two crescent moons, a gentle smile gracing his lips. The harsh lines of his cheekbones stood out from the light crashing into his back. He looked ethereal at that moment - his hand outstretched, reaching out to her, calling her, while rays of light protruded from everywhere behind him.

Musa was helpless, she knew that. She knew that no matter how mad she was at him, no matter how many times he’d say something stupid and get on her nerves, one smile out of him and she’d melt like snow on the first day of spring.

“You OK, love?” His hand still floating between them, Riven moved to close the distance but stopped at the last second. She felt a strange duality in him - one pulling him toward her and the other urging him to wait. “Muse?” He called her name in the sweetest notes she had so far heard, making her blush and place her hand in his.

Riven bit his lip but immediately covered it with a smile, hoping she had missed that tiny wave of relief washing over him. Because the second her hand had landed in his, the storm in his heart had settled.

He had been an idiot, no point arguing there. But there was something uniquely interesting in making his girlfriend angry. Well, he apparently had to work more on his limits.

The Specialist closed his fingers over hers, warmth sparking at the base of her digits and spreading like electricity through her body. He lightly pulled her inside, closing the door behind him.

One glance at the room and Musa was left speechless. The place had its usual arrangement - two beds, two desks, and a huge dresser. Only now, everything was covered in a dark shade of red and orange, shadows dancing over the walls and furniture.

Tiny flames floated in the air, casting different colors to every surface, reflecting in a million freckles of different sizes and shapes. Their tails curved until they broke free from the body, turning into small sparks that disappeared in one blink.

Riven’s hands snaked around her from behind, nuzzling her hair on one side, until he chose to rest his chin on her shoulder, sighing in contentment. That sound itself pulled the empath out of her daze and she turned her head to look at him.

“Wha-“

“I really am sorry, Muse,” he whispered, the color of spring painted in his eyes. “I shouldn’t have said that. Can you forgive me?”

His emotions were all over the place. There was a lot of guilt, plenty of remorse, anxiety, love, hope… She could get lost in the whirlwind only he knew how to create with only one simple action. But she loved it. She loved him because no matter how messed up he or she was, they both weirdly fit together, like two pieces of a different puzzle perfectly aligning with the rest.

“How can I not when you were ready to commit arson for me?” the empath giggled, turned in his hands, and kissed him.

“Do you think they made up?” Bloom asked, playing absentmindedly with her boyfriend's fingers dangling over her shoulder.

“I’m pretty sure they’re already making new dents in the wall next to his bed,” the Specialist chuckled and kissed the top of her head as they walked back to the suite.

“So what are you going to do for the rest of the night?”

“What? I’m not invited to stay with you?” he asked with mock hurt, adding a short and hitched breath in to drill in his point.

“Oh, come on.” She jabbed him in the ribs and continued, “I just thought you wouldn’t want to come since Aisha is there.”

Sky didn’t reply. He simply hummed and they kept walking, passing the classrooms and the halls, and going for the fairy dormitories. They walked hand in hand, with his other one still draped over her shoulders, pulling her closer ever so slightly on every 10th step they made.

It felt good to have her next to him. The smell of her cotton flower shampoo reminded him of his childhood days, running down the meadows surrounding his house, stumbling on rocks as the gentle breeze lightly tapped him on his cheeks every time he’d turn around.

The softness of her skin felt soothing under his ruff digits - years of training carved into them; tiny memories of his hard work, poured blood, sweat, and tears. But none of that came to mind when her touch neared him; when her touch barely hovered over his skin, leaving goose pimples skid over his body.

Sky sighed in satisfaction, feeling his body relax when Bloom replied with a sigh of her own and squeezed his hand gently. They came to the suite and she pressed the door open, revealing complete darkness.

“Where is everyone?” Bloom fumbled for the switch, hitting the wall several times until she got it. There was a clicking sound but nothing happened. “Aisha?! Terra?! Stella?! What happened here?”

The Specialist sensed her rapidly raising urgency so he put a stop to it before it went off the rails. He grabbed her hand and turned her to face him, saying, “They’re all out and will be for the night.”

His words were calming, spoken slowly and tenderly. It made the anxiety in her lower until it was only a faint whisper, and she let the tension out by exhaling through her nose.

“You could’ve told me.”

“And where’s the fun in that?” he laughed, pulling her in for a hug. “Now, ready for your surprise?”

Her head bumped into his chin with the speed it flew up. Bloom’s eyes sparkled in anticipation, a big child-like smile stretching her lips. She nodded several times, earning herself a kiss before he pulled her toward her room.

Opening it, the ginger let out a small gasp. The room was covered in flowers of all kinds, vines arching along the walls and the legs of her bed, sprouting small buds of different colors along their length. Several thinner vines fell down from the ceiling, their endings twisted in a spiral, holding bunches of yellow bells that cast a soft bumblebee-colored glow. It looked like the forest had been brought to her.

“You always say you want to frolic outside,” Sky said in her ear, kissing her temple. “So I brought outside to you.”

Bloom couldn’t dignify his actions for she could only stare at the view before her, mouth agape. She had always known her boyfriend was a softie and listened intently, hanging on every word she’d say. But that was something everyone in love did. This here though? It was as close to forever as love could ever get.

“You’re…” Words eluded her, her throat suddenly very dry and scratchy. So she didn’t reply anything more, but simply turned to him and smashed their lips together.

No, nobody could ever be like him. Bloom was certain that nobody in the world could come as close to being as perfect as Sky was. He knew her in and out and chose to stick with her no matter what. And if that wasn’t enough, he did things like this!

“I love you,” she said, breaking the kiss and pulling his head to hers, their foreheads connecting.

“I love you too, Bloom.”

The Narrator and Curator are ai experiments created by Jim to see if ai could develop an actual personality and become and individual with free will and a conscious. The half life mod was a failed simulation experiment, as Narry did not develop emotions, and was very hostile towards Stanley and the player (Jim).

The demo was the next attempt. They allowed Narry and Curie to help create the demo with the project team with the hope that they'd develop personalities as a starting off point. It was a success, except for the fact that Narry started creating fake memories for himself. To fix this problem, Jim erased his memories but kept the personality he developed.

When Narry was then moved to the parable for a more permanent experiment, Jim gave him some fake memories to ease the transfer and make him think he was in control.

Stanley and Mariella are human test subjects who's consciousness were put into the simulations to urge Narry and Curie to becoming people.

The parable was designed to keep everyone inside until Narry developed a personality, as he was the main focus (sorry Curie). The plan was that once Narry got a personality, he and Stanley could go through the escape pod ending and then everyone inside would get out into the real world.

Jim and his team eventually decided to market the game, because money. Hence, The Stanley Parable.

But, after some time, Stanley and Mariella started getting bored (they are real people after all). So, Jim came up with some new content, and The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe came out.

But, some time into Ultra Deluxe, Jim and his team disappeared (I'm still working out details, but something happened and they are probably dead). Except for one team member, 432. They had been testing in the Parable seeing if it could be controlled from inside, and when the project went down they got trapped. They eventually became the Timekeeper, trapped in their little code void of the computers in the Parable.

i have had this url for years trying repeatedly to start a professor ask blog, but i was never successful. they all had the same general concept behind them (ex-rocket professor answer question) but i either got bored or they didnt get a good audience

one day i decide to do it again. i set up the url. i make a post. suddenly im actually getting anons. im like ok cool guess i got lucky. i later click on a discord link i assume is for a regular pokemon server.

turns out i had inadvertently set up my blog at the same time as some community that started on twitter moving to tumblr. i had NO idea realpokemon was a thing. i have no clue what rotomblr is still. idk what you guys are doing there. it was just the funniest coincidence ever

now i mod the server realpokemon owns and ive posted on that blog before (remember janiel... that was me. i got to be annoying as hell for a day AND i doxxed rodney)

anyway my actual tip when it comes to AUDIENCE would be to give people something theyd be interested in. i get very very few asks about teak himself even though he has a life and lore outside of this blog- people just dont really care about that though? theyre more into science stuff. i like to talk about biology though so it works out. also interact with people when you start out. there are discord servers out there meant for networking afaik i think those would be a great place to start

HOWEVER: i think you should do whatever you want. stories exist to be told. the presence of audience and followers and all that shouldnt be a requirement. tell your story!!! make your art!!!!! be free!!!!!!!!

1. What’s your favorite sims death? I cheated it but I had Peeping Tom die death by rabbit and Death by flies. I think the death by flies was hands down my favorite.

2. Alpha CC or Maxis Match? BOTH! I consider my style Maxis Mix but I haven't added any alpha cc to my game in a very long time.

3. Do you cheat when your sims gain weight? Not in my gameplay saves but in my legacy save I usually don't play long enough for them to gain weight.

Oh gosh, uhm. it's probably been a week or two. Which is probably an improvement recently. :') But fr I'm an over-emotional mess so a lot of things, including being super mad, makes me cry lol.

the obvious answer is art. but I also liked english and math, and did not much like science courses. I also failed photography three fcking times in college because I was simply too bored to do the work. (I don't even dislike photography but gods I hated it as a class.)

dream job?

is "nothing" an option? nah, actually that would probably drive me crazy too. uhm, honestly I'm pretty much okay with my current job. it's fine. a little boring sometimes, but I'm fine with that.
