Ok, I have read all the Licenses and now I'm pretty confident which mechs to give to each Champion in an Lancer BoTW AU

Urbosa gets a Tokugawa, because plasma scimitars and it being a very skill based and dangerous mech to pilot, usually used by officers who want all the smoke. It fit too well.

Daruk gets the Saladin. Because obviously. It's a big boy, has shealds, is a shield itself, and Saladin pilots are loved by everyone for being reliable hero types.

Mipha gets the Black Witch, for being The Support™, and the staff that's one spike away from being a trident. Really conflicted weather it's should be an Emperor instead for being able to support and stand up for itself and being more regal. But Emperor is The Bow Mech™. Also unfortunately I couldn't keep up the theme of all Champions getting an NHP to represent their Divine Beasts with this one. Frankly this choice is the most subject to change.

Revali gets the Monarch. Explosives, showstopper, "These rockets are rated E for everyone, everywhere, at the same time, cover won't help you". Unfortunately the only inherently airborne mech in the game is a stealth assasin and the only bow mech is a magical pain support. But of ALL mechs, including the Dusk Wing, Monarch is the most one that SHOULD be flying, thing's literally build like a jet. I thought about the cowboy mech too, to represent the humble upbringing and the sharpshooter-ness, but Raleigh does not look built for the sky. Though that could be leveraged for Revali's "self made man" shtick. Idk, maybe.

Finally Link is piloting the Orchis. Man's literally the Royal Knight of the princes, what better then the sword and shield defensive knight mech. Also it's an alternative frame for the Black Witch, which is good symbolism for his connection with Mipha. That is of course before Link bonds with The Atlas That Seals The Darkness. The giant killer power suit only select few martial artists can pilot with their bones intact.

Zelda is struggling with being a Lancer at all and Calamity Ganon is a fuckoff giant Balor.

How do they spend their anniversary?

Oooooo this is such a good question! Cause it vastly depends on what part of the timeline we're on.

Early on in their relationship? (year 1-3) They don't even acknowledge it. Link asks Revali about it a month in advance and gives him a panic attack, so after that they kind don't talk about it. But after year 3 they kind of start to celebrate more. Revali's been going to therapy more and wanting to do actual relationship stuff. So they start doing proper dates and celebrating Valentine's, the like. So around the 3-4 year mark, the do mild stuff. Sitting at home, smoking weed, gaming, (sex), maybe some takeout. Very relaxed.

But after the 4 ish year mark Revali really wants to start going all out. Taking Link on fancy dinners and stuff. So he makes their anniversary a big deal. They decide together a restaurant to go to and then usually some kind of event. Dress up. The whole nine-yards. Unless they're feeling really tired (cause at this point they have a kid), sometimes they just sit at home and she's out with one of the other champions. So they literally just enjoy a quiet apartment to themselves. Usually Link would make something for dinner and they just lay on the floor.

I just think this is such an interesting question because Link very much enjoys the "let me spoil you" aspect to the relationship. He likes memorizing important days and doing something meaningful. But Revali gets so stressed about any outward acknowledgement of their relationship that he just kinda lets himself forget to do that stuff. But then later it becomes super meaningful to Vali to do that stuff together so Link has to reboot his brain back into doing it again. Idk it's just fun to think about how their relationship changes over time! This was such a great ask!

Introducingggggggg Jacopo! An oc that we made for our botw-prequel/hwaoc-rewrite fic. He's a Watarara, which is a sort of very culturally significant magical bard for the Rito. He's the younger brother of Revali, and the youngest fully-fledged Watarara in several generations and is regarded within his village as an incredibly gifted musician and poet. He also ended up being the teacher of Kass, who, 100 years later, is the only remaining trained Watarara in once-Hyrule.

King Rhoam thought Jacopo was gifted, too. On a customary visit to the northern Rito a couple years ago, he found Jacopo's bardic abilities very impressive and invited him to come live at Hyrule Castle as the royal court poet. Jacopo accepted, of course, because he was 14 and it was an incredibly glamorous offer from the King of Hyrule, what was he going to do, say NO? But this also caused a major conflict to arise between him and Revali, then 16, who believed it was an insult and betrayal for Jacopo to use his cultural gifts as a Watarara to serve the king of Hyrule, a conquering nation that had deeply screwed over the Rito several times over in the past and which Revali staunchly believed the Rito should be independent from. They got into a huge fight and things have been rocky between them since, they've barely spoken. Revali was technically right, of course, but that doesn't make Jacopo wrong, per se-- again, what was he gonna do, say no?

It all only gets more complicated when Revali later becomes the Rito Champion. These two brothers love each other very much but unfortunately are both so stubborn and so so dramatic.

Since then Jacopo has had a nice time living in the castle as the court poet. He's good friends with Zelda-- maybe has a bit of a crush on her but their friendship is much more important. He likes the food and the mild weather, but aside from the princess, he doesn't have many friends and often feels lonely and homesick. The thing he loves most in the world is Grand, Epic Tournaments.

Since the foretelling of the coming Calamity, he has been preparing to witness it all, the buildup and the ultimate showdown of the ages between the forces of good and evil, so he may write the epic ballads about the brave heroes that shall win the day and save everyone. He already has chord progressions in mind.

Anyways, Anon and I decided to make him a cardinal, because Revali is a bluejay and cardinals and bluejays are two birds that look like they belong in the same category but actually aren't related at all, they're completely different types of birds. They're both adopted, but are related by blood and were adopted together along with their older sister-- yes, Revali is the middle child. Their sister is also a similar looking but actually completely different kind of bird-- uhhh we just haven't settled on which bird yet haha.

Ultimately, the most important thing about Jacopo is he is a little baby potato chip sweetheart and I love him so so much and so should you

Been thinking about making a sort of potential abilities list for all the Link's like the little ability wheel in totk/botw! I just think it would be really cute to imagine how they'd operate as permanent companions, but also useful in a gameplay sense!

Mod!Au question (for when you're feeling like talking about it - no pressure/rush).

If Revali likes dressing up and is confident like wearing all pink to a movie and looking like a fashion icon - has he ever gotten attacked/picked on/beaten up by homophobic/transphobic/sexist/or just asshole jerks for it?

If he did meet that situation - would he be able to defend himself? Would one of his friends come to his aid? Would he never mention it to anyone ever because he's embaressed about it, or would he nonstop tell the story of these dicks over and over to anyone who would listen? Does he run away or get into a punch up?

I keep picturing Zelda rushing in to tell Link that Revali is in trouble and Link SPRINTING outside already with a bat in hand about to beat up whoever he has to - only to find Revali surrounded by like seven unconscious bodies looking super pissed off because he chipped a sparkly nail and got blood on his pretty skirt.

You are so absolutely right. Revali does get in a fist fight and then get mad that he chipped a nail xD

He most definitely has experienced bullying as a gay guy who likes to dress feminine/do drag. He’s always had a loud personality (and a bit of an ego like, well you know 👀). When he was younger I feel like he would have just stood by and taken it; but now that he’s older and a bit of a gym buff he absolutely would throw hands. He’s absolutely gotten in fights for his friends before. As has his friends stood up for him too. The transphobia he didn’t really experience until him and Link started openly dating because he’s never “passed” for a woman and never really tried to whenever he dresses up. So the first few instances of in-the-wild transphobia he experiences he just kinda stands there stunned cause he’s like “this actually happens?? wtf???” (and then feels immensely guilty he didn’t stand up for Link). So after that he just gets in peoples faces about it. (unfortunately because he’s short a lot of people don’t take him seriously until he can back it up or until one of his taller friends steps in and it makes him mad. he tries to compensate by being loud and flowery with his language, at least make them feel stupid) he’s also jacked as shit

let me help you botw shippers by sharing my original suspected plot

so. basically i originally was like "what if we got to fight the champions in the divine beasts?" and when i found out that wasn't how it worked i was really sad but lemme spill it on out for ya. basically the whole thing up to ruta (who should be everyone's first divine beast imo, but im using it as an example) is the same, you wake up in the shrine of resurrection, you get the paraglider from the old man, you go to kakariko and talk to impa, etc etc. but when you get into ruta (or whatever your first divine beast was) its quiet. the sos tones in the music are much more audible. you find a sign that says "go to the guidance stone and get the map. i'm trusting you, link." or something along the lines of that, and you go, and you clear out the terminals and stuff and go to the main control unit. that's where you'd fight a blight, right? wrong. mipha (or the champion of that respective beast) drops down, covered in malice, with a malice eyeball near her heart. (the eyeball locations vary for each of the champions, urbosa has one on her hand, revali's is on his head, and daruk's is on his right knuckle. these correspond to not only their ablilities but their personalities as well. ex. revali's big ego) her eyes are black and she's a lot stronger, she'll hit you with giant waves that do a lot of damage. occasionally she'll scream out something like "you can do it link" or "help" or just a general noise of discomfort, and you have to hit the eyeball and only the eyeball (if you can.) if you miss the eyeball and hit mipha she'll take damage, which is uh. not what you want, obviously. in phase 2 of her fight she'll do ice mixed in with the waves, and might dash in and spear you with the lightscale trident. when you finally clear off the eyeball's health (around 800 hp if its your first or second beast, the original of waterblight, or 1600 if its your third or fourth) it will do a very dramatic... disappearance? and the malice will go away from mipha. this triggers a cutscene, she'll fall to the ground, using her arms to break the fall n' then look up at link. he'll offer her a hand up, she'll take it and say something like this. "You know, Link, I've been waiting for quite some time... I never lost hope. I knew you'd come to save us. You must go save the others (or if fourth, "You must go save the princess,"), I'll be here, locked onto Hyrule Castle, ready to strike with Ruta at just the right moment. I'd like you to take this ability to help you. It will take a lot from me, but I can recover. I have decided to call it, "Mipha's Grace." Now, go, Link. Save the others. I'm counting on you." And then you fade away like you normally do. Now of course these dialogues, bossfights, and cutscenes vary. Maybe I'll post about the other champion bossfights later but I wanna get to after you beat Ganon. In this, there's a postgame. All of the champions (if you cleared the Beasts and freed them from the malice. If not, you've already saved them before Ganon) come to Hyrule Castle to congratulate you, come see Zelda, etc.. Now that Ganon's sealed away, the Champions can go see their successors, for lack of a better word, and these have cutscenes that will *make you cry*. The Divine Beasts are adventure-able again, and you can hang out, get any chests you missed, and really whatever you want. You can hang out with the champions in their home villages, maybe even.... do a love story (GASP but this would never be canon probably. if i make a mod for this it will happen but if not its stuck in this tumblr post.) with them. There's a lot that you could probably do, a lot of postgame potential. You could go and hang out anywhere you wanted in the Vast Region Of Hyrule(TM). anyway yeah, take that ass you will.

AWWAAHH THANK YOU!! I got this ask while I was still camping and have been looking forward to answering it all day!

14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

okay! okay! okay! so like- I have SO MANY hc’s about Revali’s style! He gives a very “I like to be posh and look well kept and put together” but in a broke kinda way. Thrifted high fashion that he puts with like one or two jackets. Wears a lot of tight fitting shirts (tank tops/turtlenecks. Lots of crop tops!) with straight leg or relaxed fit bottoms. Jeans or dress pants and a nice belt (also very gnc and wears lots of pleated skirts. particularly knee length and below. He doesn’t give mini-skirt vibes). REALLY nice shoes and like a necklace or two. Loves scarves but hates hats. I also feel like he’d wear a lot of bodysuits/shirts with weird cutouts. Fashion over function. Colors: black, white, beige, tan, grey. But with LOUD and colorful makeup.

I don’t really know what it is. the fluidity of his movement that just makes him feel more real as a character. I just like it so much! (it also gives a very *sigh* “moooooooom” attitude to it haha)
