There’s an absolutely staggering amount of original British comic art on offer in the latest Compalcomics auction, including 2000AD, “Charley’s War“, “Dan Dare“, Dalek art and more. Plus, of course, the usual fine selection of British comics – including a first edition of The Beano, published in 1938 – and several “full year” collections of titles such as EAGLE and other classic comics, and…

Profiles in Villainy
Miles Mayhem
A brilliant albeit ruthless engineer, Miles Mayhem worked alongside Matt and Andy Trakker in developing the special technology that enables vehicles to transform for a multitude of functionalities. Seeing the potential of their work for conquest, Mayhem killed Andy Trakker and stole half the technology which he used to create the nefarious organization, V.E.N.O.M. (or the Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem).
The goal of VENOM was nothing short of world conquest and Matt Trakker used the remaining half of the technology to establish M.A.S.K. (or Mobile Armored Strike Kommand) so to thwart Mayhem’s various schemes and endeavors.
Mayhem would later go on to become a member of the terrorist cell, Cobra, acting as a weapons manufacturer and field general for the organization.
Actor Brendan McKane provided the voice for Miles Mayhem, with the villain first appearing in the debut episode of M.A.S.K., airing on September 30th, 1985.

Did agent Fowler just mention mask division?
Like M.A.S.K. mask?
Mobile Armored Strike Kommand. That MASK????? Because that's a pretty awesome little easter egg in a transformer's show if it is.
For anyone who doesn't know, MASK was another super sweet 80's cartoon airing around the same time the original Transformers was going. Their vehicles would transform into other vehicles.

M.A.S.K. (Soldiers in disguise)
[All images are owned by Hasbro and WildBrain Ltd. Please don’t sue me]
youtube
(Thanks to Upscaled Nostalgia)
[QUICK NOTE: This is going to be a shorter series review than most, due to the fact that there are only four regular characters; the rest could be considered “regular guest stars” who might appear in 10% of the episodes at most]
M.A.S.K. was yet another daily animated series designed to sell toys to unsuspecting kids.
It chronicles the adventures of a special task force known as M.A.S.K. (which stands for “Mobile Armored Strike Kommand” (obviously spelling isn’t important if you can come up with a cool acronym; just ask Marvel)) as they work to keep the world safe from V.E.N.O.M. (which stands for “Vicious Evil Network Of Mayhem” (I refer you to my previous snide comment. Also, this makes about as much sense as Magneto naming his group of freedom fighters “The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants”; in the real world, almost no one believes what they’re doing is evil, but have a justification for what they’re doing (even if it’s a selfish one))
M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. have specialized vehicles that can transform into other vehicles.
(such as a sports car that has aerodynamic doors that open upward, making it fly like a plane)
Additionally, when on the clock, both sides wear special masks that grant the user special abilities.
The leader and founder of M.A.S.K is Matt Trakker. He has a database of operatives that he assigns to various missions as the need arises.
Trakker’s son Scott is an engineering savant who always manages to wind up in the middle of M.A.S.K. missions (because he always stows away)
He created his robot companion T-Bob (short for “Thingamabob”), who can change into a scooter when he and Scott get in over their heads (usually because they stumble into the middle of V.E.N.O.M. capers)
On the other side of the show, we have V.E.N.O.M.’s founder Miles Mayhem, who helped Trakker form M.A.S.K. before betraying him (You would think that a last name like “Mayhem” would be a red flag) and stealing the organization’s secrets for his own nefarious purposes. He’s recruited a band of ruthless mercenaries to loot, pillage, and rob whatever valuable commodities they can find to then sell to the highest bidder.
The series ran for 2 seasons, with the second season primarily centering around plots that involve M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M. in racing events for some reason.
If you would like to watch the series, it’s available on SHOUT! TV or behind your favorite paywall. If you would like to see an episode reviewed, let me know!
