Previews for MMPR/TMNT II #4 have been released!!  Last time was MUTANT RANGERS and now it’s time for more MUTANT RANGERS

That was fun! I dug the mutant rangers and the Turtle Rangers. Also Kang in the megazord was neat! Just a really nice little issue!

Canon Human TMNT Designs

We’ve got new human designs for our favorite boys courtesy of the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers/TMNT II comic (yay!), but I’ve seen some confusion over where they’re from and what they're about, so I decided to put together a little guide of the canon human designs we currently have. If I miss any, please feel free to add them on in a reblog!

IDW Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2011)

First appearing in issue #5 of the IDW comics (December 2011), we get to see the IDW human forms at multiple stages of life through flashbacks and adventures into various character's mindscapes. They are Japanese in this version, being the reincarnations of the (likely Sengoku era, but that's a different post) Hamato family.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in Pizza Friday (July 2016)

Debuting at 2016’s San Diego Comic Con, this short features the boys “as they see themselves” with the help of a cloaking device Donnie created. Here, the boys appear to be White. Notably, Raph initially turns into a girl before the machine is "fixed" and he appears as a boy.

Boom! Studios Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers/ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II (2022/2023)

So contrary to popular belief, these are not IDW turtles, but Boom! Studios turtles. Boom! publishes Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and thus was given the publishing rights for the crossover. These turtles are their own unique iteration that coexist in the same world as the Power Rangers. Here, the boys are given hologram technology by their Power Ranger friends that allows them to appear human when used. They are Black in this iteration.

Going to be completely honest, I made this post because I'm a pedantic nerd and I was getting Annoyed by everyone calling the MMPR/TMNT turtles the IDW turtles. They are not. They are two separate, distinct iterations with their own world-building, lore and yes, human turtle designs. Being wrong about comics is NOT a victimless crime. (the victim is me.)

Regardless, I hope people find this helpful! I didn't include the links to anything because last I checked Tumblr hates external links, but I did give the full names of everything so they should be easy enough to find.

Kamen Rider Zero-One - Prasetya is doing well here - still bewildering to see this series in comic form.

MMPR/TMNT II - Dimension X Rangers! Sure, I guess.

Punchline - I like Punchline; I think it’s funny people detest her. But I have to say I’m not a big fan of Melnikov. Doesn’t do anything for me in a sequential art type of way.

Rocketman & Rocketgirl - I don’t usually go for Dynamite books anymore, but I was jones-ing for a Public Domain hero tangentially related to Project Superheroes. Worth a look.

Stargirl - Loving that cover. Giving me Chitty Chitty Bang Bang vibes for some reason. Nauck at top form here - to be admired. Great job from Matt Herms on colors.

Waller VS. Wildstorm - The ideas behind this book got me to check it out. I think with Ackerman & Narcisse & Merino can deliver something very thought-provoking and exciting and I wanna see that.

Trying to not get behind with the rest of the stuff here.

So far my only review of MMPR/TMNT II #4 is “not enough Mutant Rangers” but at least I got good Mutant Tomberly out of the crumbs

LAST TIME ON MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS/TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES II:  Casey’s still being a little bitch but he has ~~~~good reasons~~~~~ which leaves us without ranger powers.  So how are we coping with this loss?  For the Turtles, it’s taking a field trip to Dimension X with our new best friend Shredder.  For The MMPRs?  WITH FURRY POWERRRRRRRR  - in MMPR/TMNT II #4!  

- I usually don’t post too much in the main recaps that were already covered in the previews but since the previews basically had all the Mutant Ranger content in this issue (boo hiss) you get them again

- I love them sm and I hope they actually get the spotlight in the finale

- uh huh yeah i’m sure this is super necessary SKIP

- sorry Casey but you’re nothing next to the power of the girlboss

- On the one hand this is the most engaged I’ve been with Rita in years because she’s pointing out how stupid this whole Casey subplot was but on the other hand........she’s pointing out how stupid this whole Casey subplot was 

- Dimension X really did have their own rangers!  And they’re exactly in our colors!  That’s convenient.  Give Leo orange just to be funny  

- YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN RANGER X ARRRRRGGGGHHH YOU’RE ALREADY SHOWING WAY MORE INTEGRITY THAN STUPID CASEY 

- recognize these guys?????  I’m pretty sure Dan Mora can draw these guys with his eyes closed at this point

- Though admittedly, while I love them, always picking the same six MMPR monsters is getting a little tiresome.  Godzilla vs MMPR giving the spotlight to Rhinoblaster is feeling like a radical choice at this point

- yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah Ryan doesn’t understand Pumpkin Rapper the way Kyle did.  Ryan.  Do you know how many rhymes I made from “shell” off the top off my head just in the process of writing this passage.  It’s not hard

- Karai sweetie I am so so so sorry you were nerfed this entire series for dumb old Casey you would have rocked the Ranger X look so hard and actually did things of importance

- also I already talked about the Dimension X Turtles in other posts so I won’t repeat what I’ve said here.  We’ll see plenty of them in the final issue, don’t worry 

- I need you to look at this panel again.  Romance is beating the shit out of mutant alligator men  

- I hope the deep shadows here further making Dan’s Splinter design resemble the 2012 Splinter were intentional 

- okay now take notes, guys.  THIS is a cool alternate Zord design

Action Comics - I am so excited for this new era and direction with Superman and the Superfamily.

One Bad Day - Catwoman - Wilson can and has delivered well on a lot of stuff. Her Invisible Kingdom is terrific, but her Wondy run is boring to say the least. I do think she’ll be good here along with McKelvie on art. At the least, I have some good McKelvie art to admire; that alone should sell this book.

Blue Beetle - More Beetles? Got a green one this time.

Catwoman - Catwoman’s a ton of fun.

JSA - Not sure I liked the first issue enough. I like Helena, but I am very nervous. Hoping for the best!

Power Rangers/Ninja Turtles II - Mora carrying this book because Parrott really can’t.

Monstress - I am so behind. Excited for more Monstress though.

Punchline - Like the idea, but really tired of Black Mask being the go-to villain to use in stories like this.

Sins of Sinister - Sinister has been one of my favorite parts of the Krakoan era. Got some good Gillen characterizations along with some cool Werneck art. Excited to see the zaniness that can come out of this concept and direction. I also got the Artgerm cover because - me; that’s a lovely Emma Frost.

Pretty good amount of books this week. Again, excited for Action essentially being a Superfamily book at this point.
