finally drew a cover for my mlp fanfic

It dawns on me that it's been a hot minute since I've drawn the sisters, OR one of their mother figures and one of the main characters of our little setting, Sunsparkle.

This is also the first time I've drawn all three in Clip Studio, so if their looks change or get tweaked over time...just deal with it.

Without getting too into it, it was Starswirl who originally found the sisters during one of his times traveling. Though having ZERO interest in kids, he knew that a prophecy about supposedly important sisters who would one day finally unite the nation had been floating around, and these two checked all the boxes. And though his manners and tact had atrophied from disuse over the years, he knew he couldn't leave two babies all on their own and brought them to Sunsparkle, mostly to drop them off and then go back to doing his own thing.

Not that Sunsparkle cared. While indeed she wanted to make sure the two would grow to be excellent rulers one day, she and Silver Swirl were more concerned with just making sure these little girls were happy and safe. Little did she know that these fluffballs would worm their ways into her heart, making it so Sunny would eagerly sic Majesty onto anyone who looked at them funny.

I also doubt she would have expected the girls to grow into their power to the degree they did, but then again, no one really thinks their kid would one day be able to use the heavens themselves like Legos.

Okay better pictures as promised. Yes I am opening her because i do NOT collect toys just for them to collect dust in boxes lol I love playing with and giving them love. Plus its my toy i can do what i want :p I will be making a silly little unboxing video soon but first I wanted to take some nice pictures of her before i unbox her. Of course i will be keeping the box nice and trying not to damage it so I can still keep it for displaying heheh

it's spring, and I want to see it in the world of my childhood toy ponies.

the ponies are enjoying the first rays of sun. the winter is always so dark here. the ponies, just like me, take a few moments to just feel the spring sun on our faces.

three ponies are gathered. two of them are the birthday themed ones I got for my own birthday one year - they celebrate each day like birthdays. the excitedly tell me about the spring masquerade ball at the castle later today. the third pony there - dark pink and adorned with a moon and stars - is quietly listening. I know her, of course. I know she secretly is a thief who goes to the royal balls in disguise to steal precious gemstones, and she is planning her heist for today. I know she is, because I made her so. of course, I say nothing; her role is to bring some excitement.

I join them to the ball. before entering, I visit the castle garden, where I spot the unicorn with the dark red hair, tinkering with her latest invention. she often tries to mix her mechanic inventions with magic, to varying degrees of success.

in another corner further back, I see her. she has marker stains and scratches, or scars of her adventures, let's say. because she always grew into a villain. the others don't know yet, but she is plotting to betray them right now, and will soon leave for the mountains, where she will unleash evil magic. there will be fights and daring heroism and discoveries of magical artifacts deep in the secret parts of the ancient castles.

I smile, turn around, and walk into the castle. a playful jester pony hands me a masquerade mask. I know she will have her role to play, and will be granted the title of princess after this adventure. she will have to face a great quest first, though.

the ballroom is filled with beautiful decorations of suns and spring flowers, the daylight filling the room through the windows, stretching all the way up to the ceiling. the Queen enters, and everyone falls silent, waiting for her to welcome them, to welcome spring.

I smile. the adventure is about to start.

Celebration Castle

"Pink Sunsparkle is the youngest and tiniest pony in Ponyville. The other ponies are like big sisters to her, and she always wants to follow them on their adventures. She’d never run too far from the Celebration Castle, though, because this is where all the ponies gather to play and plan exciting parties!"

The Celebration Castle was released in 2003 along with Baby Pink Sunsparkle! A later release in 2004 also included Baby Romperooni.

because i own at least one pony of each gen now, plus major line redesigns (but no Pony Life G4 since i think they’re kind of ugly)

From left to right there’s Glory (G1), Sundance/Sunsparkle (G2), Starsong (G3 & 3.5), Twilight Sparkle (G4), Rainbow Dash (post-The Movie G4), and Pipp Petals (G5).

New Horses have unleashed some love for some OLD horses - these gals are reimaginings of the G2 pony toys I grew up with!

Morning Glory, Ivy, Sweet Berry, Sunsparkle, Sundance, and Night Star my beloveds <3 I have no idea what their ‘canon’ personalities were meant to be bc I disregarded all packaging, never owned the videogame, and there was no G2 TV show, alas.

iirc, Morning Glory came by herself and was my first pony! Ivy and Sweet Berry were in a pack together, Sunsparkle and Night Star were the changing mane & tail toys where you could switch their manes out, and Sundance was a happy meal toy, haha.

I had Night Star and Sunsparkle as sisters, because TECHNICALLY Night Star belonged to my lil sister and Sunsparkle was mine and we got them at the same time, so that was some heavy Kid Projection there. Sundance was either a third sibling, Sunsparkle’s child, or the child form of Sunsparkle depending on the narrative we were playing, so even now I’m indecisive over what exactly her deal is.

‘Storylines’ with them were based around them going on Quests to earn the right to have the Cool Manes by helping the others out of scrapes and being accepted as the Protectors of the Herd... these are the horses I thought of, immediately, when I first watched G4 and there were a pair of sisters themed around day and night who had cool manes.... Sunsparkle/Sundance (they can be. interchangeable names with a lot of the toys) was definitely an early inspiration for Celestia’s design - think of Pink Celestia! Also, our new Sunny gal bears more than a passing resemblance...

Ivy and Sweet Berry were best friends. Ivy was always pretty outgoing and adventurous and jumping into trouble and drama, and was usually the one in need of help, while Sweet Berry was a lil more chill and did her best to rein (heh) Ivy’s antics in and get help when Ivy was in trouble. Ivy and Sweet Berry are now gay.

Morning Glory, as the eldest toy among them, was like... either the calm, collected  wise pony of the group who determined when Sunsparkle and Night Star were Worthy of their manes being swapped out, OR, she was the current leader of the ponies and either had to be deposed for tyranny, or stepped aside graciously for Sunsparkle and Night Star to take over (bc they had Cool Manes).

I Promised @thebiscuiteternal I’d attempt a little sumpthin’ sumpthin’ before the weekend was out and here we go.

We got a sketch of our girl Sunsparkle, one of the three Regents of Equestria back in the day and one of the main characters in our story, which you can find-

To sum up, after ponies quit their fighting, they made the new system of government in which three ponies rule as Regents, with each pony also representing the tribe they belong to. Sunsparkle was the Unicorn Regent, despite being an earth pony, due to being the daughter of Diamond Glow, the daughter of Princess Platinum. Sunsparkle dealt with a lot in her life, but her most cherished memories were of her and her partner (the mage Silverswirl) raising two special little fillies. Though they weren’t related to Sunsparkle by blood (as the girls were found and brought to the castle), Celestia and Luna grew to see both her and Silver as their mother figures, with the story itself dealing with what would happen should Sunsparkle somehow come back from the dead...

Anyway, me ‘n Biscuit were going over headcannons to apply to this series, and we concluded that Luna was a widdle cuddlebug when she was small, and would often worm her way into Sunsparkle’s arms at all times of the day. While not used to this level of affection at first, Sunsparkle quickly acclimated to the smaller alicorn’s habits, and would sometimes be seen with a sleeping Luna in her lap while holding court.

As for why she has a crystal coat...well...like I said, read Biscuit’s story.

Remember Locket? Well you're about to.

In a previous post made long ago, Locket was revealed to be part of the lore in this setting, specifically having to do with what went on during the reign of the Regents a long time ago.

Though blind, Locket was valued greatly by the regents thanks to her rare gift of visions of the future, with Sunsparkle being her biggest ally. It was Locket who predicted the coming of The Sisters, something Sunny and Silver could never forget. But even before all that went down, Locket was one of the few ponies the usually reserved and stoic Sunsparkle felt she could be friends with, a position that was previously only held by Majesty.

This was something Locket appreciated greatly, as her condition left her very isolated while growing up, and the two would often enjoy walks together while talking about everything and nothing. While Sunsparkle enjoyed having another pony in her life she could be candid with for once, Locket felt like she had someone in her life who she could truly trust after years of ponies either dismissing her for her blindness, or misunderstanding her visions.

Pink Girls stick together.

Pony Art Ahoy
