This is a humble brag, actually. I’m very pleased with My Little Origami Mimic, because origami is fun and I’ve been practicing it enough that I could go beyond the folding instructions and do little steps to make the design my own! The original instructions just had the unicorn in a basic standing pose.

Mimic the My Little Pony

Mimic was a pony produced in 1986 that routinely sells for like $200+ that I mentioned earlier today

Here are some theories I found from the earliest posts I could find on the topic, which pretty much sum up what I've heard.

Posts from ~2014-2016 indicate that Mimic sold for $60+, and now they sell for like. $200.

There is a theory that often goes around that they "Made fewer Mimics" and "kids didn't like her because she was green". The more I've looked into the ponies the sillier this is. First of all, Mimic looks awesome and has a PARROT on her which is so cool

Not only did the VERY FIRST MLP collection include a green pony (who they reproduced multiple times), there was another green twinkle-eyed pony and there are other ponies, like this lemon-yellow one, with bright colors. All of these go for like $20 on ebay.

Of all the Twinkle-eyed ponies, the only two I could find that had price hikes were these two, Quackers and Bright Eyes, which go for closer to $50 although there were a few listings as low as $30

Another theory is that all of them were produced in low numbers, but then, why are only half just slightly more expensive?

Maybe this guess is biased because I've always loved Quackers but my hypothesis is Quackers is expensive because she has a cute duck and beautiful rainbow hair and Bright Eyes is being artificially inflated by sharing her name with a more famous pony (the TV show European-exclusive BE sells for 150+) + being part of the twinkle eyed lineup.

Actually I just found this great angelfire site that has highs and lows for pricing. Bright Eyes and Quackers used to be lower, it's only Mimic that's been unusually high in the set, at least as of like. 2016.

I feel like mimic actually kind of peeves me because of how bothered I am about "girls don't like pink". Idk, adult collectors look at mimic and think her colors are baller af but somehow think a little girl can't recognize that? For gods sake, she has a PARROT. Mimic is amazing please give her the respect she deserves. but also stop charging $200 for her. ;-;

cadence taking in shining armor's whoopsie changeling baby and he throws a big fit about it (he'll come around eventually <3)

i think he'd kinda struggle with Mimic in the beginning given he's his biological son with a creature that posed as his now wife and manipulated him. and also they dont like changelings in general so that super sucks for him lol.

cadence in contrast loves the little grubby right off the bat because it's her husband's son and also he has no one because of what he is and it's like season 2 so the changeling stigma is still pretty YIKERS amongst ponies. i think she'd just willingly offer up her love to the baby half-changeling hehe. :3 and the love metamorphosis solution discovered in the later seasons obviously hasnt happened yet.
