You know I just had a thought.

I feel like I wouldnt be as upset about chloe's "damnation arc" and everything reflected in the show if chloe was a guy.

Because frankly the biggest issue with it is just how misogynistic astruc is, because the dude claims to be a feminist and wants to uplift girls but does the opposite of uplift them. Like from the start the plot of the show involved pitting girls against each other over a boy, like if you want to create a show with a plot like that time whatever but dont bitch and cey when people point out your blatant misogyny (espcially when male characters can do much worse and still get redeemed)

But yeah if chloe was a guy and everything was the same, sure it would absolutely fucking suck seeing the failed redemption arc but at the very least it's not sending the same message (that if a girl is mean to you they're mean to you forever and you need to watch your man and hate any other girl that's wants your man etc etc)

Anyways my point is Felix and chloe shouldve switched places.

Like instead of Chloe vs Marinette over being in love with Adrien, is Felix vs Marinette in protecting Adrein. Felix who's been allowed to go to school and hates everyone and everything and is a bitch to his classmates, but is super kind and protective over his cousin once he starts school, making life harder for people like marinette to come close. And then it also reflects on Adrein, just like how adrien advocated for chloe to do better, he tries to do the same for Felix, constantly having to tell marinette, his freinds, his classmates "that's just how he is, I'll talk to him" this also makes the story a bit more dynamic, seeing how men will defend each other even when they do awful shit, and if they do go the damnation route for Felix it can show that even when men have a sad upbringing that doesn't excuse all the abuse and harassment they perpetuate towards women (and in this story marinette)

Meanwhile the only other friend (or freinds if zoe gets involved) was Chloe Bourgeoise, someone he only saw from time to time whenever her mother came to see her father. Chloe comes to paris to after having stayed with her mother for so long and couldnt take it, and meets marinette. Shes still haughty, and comes off very rude and elitist, but genuinely doesnt know how to socialise with normal people (and adrien is super exicted when she first comes though he has to call her out whenever she behaves poorly)

Anyways sorry I'm rambling, I just feel like since astruc initially hated felix so much as a character something like this wouldve been SOOOOO much more intresting to see for a show.

Nooroo is struggling in my MSB!AU not because he's starved by Gabriel and thrown around like a plush toy then squeezed in this middle-aged man's hand until his eyes almost pop out, but because Nooroo isn’t trusted to be away from Gabriel so, he has to listen when Gabriel and Nathalie get freaky almost every night, and Gabriel refuses to renounce him or anything, just in case there's a chance he can akumatize someone

then also they'll get freaky while Gabriel is transformed into L'Empereur cause he's like 2-3 feet taller than usual and has a long proboscis tongue thing so Nooroo just can't catch a break ever

so he just cries to Adrien every night about it while Adrien doesn't pay attention pacing around his room and talking to himself as he tries to decipher the grimoire and building his weird shrine thing to Null or when he's planting more flowers around Emilie's cryogenic pod thing

luckily Plagg is sort of listening but only because he knows Tikki would kill him if she found out he knew L'Empereur's identity and wasn't listening to his potential plans

so Nooroo has a crying session then Plagg scarfs down a whole cheese wheel then Nooroo starts explaining in graphic detail the things he has to endure then Plagg pukes all the cheese up then Adrien has to clean it

Chloe Bourgeois carer headcanons

- somewhere between a big sis and motherly carer

- gift giving as her main love language

- felt very scared to be a carer at first but she put lots of effort into doing research

- doesn’t do punishments, tries really hard to gentle parent

- always super engaged in what her tiny is doing but also wants to avoids hovering too much

heavy on the misunderstanding teenagers. because what do you mean the 14 year old bully with unresolved trauma is irredeemable and will never ever improve. it’s such a terrible, borderline dangerous message to slap your audience with again and again when your target demographic is CHILDREN.

This thought just suddenly came to me - “Big” Jack Horner from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is essentially the Chloe Bourgeois that Thomas Astruc intended to write in Miraculous Ladybug from the get-go and has since desperately been writing even when his prior failure contradicted it: a spoiled, privileged, entitled, petty, sadistic, and humorously self-aware and over-the-top sociopath who loves no-one but themselves and can never ever be redeemed.

This was the intended audience reaction to Chloe:

Unfortunately for Astruc, for some reason or other he bungled this completely in Seasons 1-3 of the show, portraying a Chloe that had significantly more nuance than that, which means now he’s stuck jamming a square peg into a round hole and insisting viewers go along with it.

I like to think that because marinette's likes to sew and craft and is a "clumsy girl™️" she's constantly pricking her fingers, accidentally cutting herself, getting hot glue on her fingers (or even touching the tip glue gun to see if it's hot enough) but brushes it off likes it nothing and adrien is just confused because if he so much as scraped his knee when he was younger, Nathalie or the Gorilla would freak out/punish the ground for making him trip while Gabriel calls 112.
