Man I remember a tumblr user named ozmav allegedly started the Mari/bat ship which then spiraled outta control by the mentally deficient rabid salters since 2019. Checking online, ozmav’s accounts are inactive since 2021? Guess that person realized the negative attention they’ve received and completely jetted, leaving the tunnelvisioned brainwashed miracubitches to take the criticism and heat from the sane minded. Um bitch, what do you think would happen when you create a nonsensical ship within an unstable community? Not to victim blame or anything but I bet they were not predicting how bad the salters would get later on.

Since early 2021, I’m a recovering victim from the immense stupidity and closed-mindedness of the miracusalters like some people here. I finished watching Miraculous Ladybug Season 1. Here's my thoughts.

Man, these dumb teenagers sure are dumb teenagers!

Wow, the superhero dynamics and love square here are pretty good without being brain-nailing. I hope no cool characters are introduced in season 2 that are a thousand times better for Marinette.

Chloe and Sabrina is toxic yuri except Chloe is a lesbian in denial. Look at how she fawns over Adrien yet shows no language of love as if being with Adrien is more of a symbol of status if anything, not to mention her absolute love of Ladybug.

Also Alya is more chill than what the salters made me expect. Maybe things go horribly wrong in later seasons.

I was fully expecting Juleka to be my favorite character. I was wrong. It was Rose. She is the absolute cutest. The eeby deeby. I want to be a parental/big sister figure to her. I still like Julie, though. And Nathaniel. And most characters, really.

Reminds me. Reflekta is just as bad, if not worse, than I thought. Just give Juleka a bunch of lights and the ability to shoot light lasers that make people constantly look at her or at the very least throw in a small line that implies she's interested in joining the circus. Disrespectful.

I Can't Be Your Boyfriend And Your Therapist.. But I'm Sure as Hell Going to Try!

(The Adrinette Yes/No Hands Thing but with Claudrien and I make it better and perhaps even cute)

Adrien tugged on the collar of his sage green sweater-vest as he mulled over how to properly introduce the exercise. His girlfriend, in all fairness, had commented once before on how his usual sense of style made him look like a psychologist, and whether she knew it or not he was probably going to live up to that notion quite soon.

"So, I know we had a fight very recently," is how he started it off. Probably not a particularly brilliant choice, but it set the foundation as he needed it to.

"Yes." Claudia knit her eyebrows together as if she was wondering just how stupid Adrien was. "We did."

"And-! Because that fight was, erm..." He gestured with his hands for a moment as if trying to pull in the latter half of his sentence with a length of twine. "...Borne of- er, brought about- by a miscommunication in our respective wants, I thought we should find a way to alternatively communicate that bypasses your usual hangups of not wanting to tell me things!"

As always, as Adrien got more anxious, the more he peppered in hyper-specific and fancy words into his speech. It clearly didn't help his case for clear communication much, now did it? Claudia had to take a moment to parse what he meant, but she was usually better at the 'listening' shtick than she was at the 'speaking'. That was in part what brought them together so quickly, he supposed. His desire to be heard and her tendency to listen.

"Okay," she finally agreed, a touch of reluctance in her voice. "And what is this 'alternative communication'?"

"Well," he said, chewing on his lip, "I'm going to ask you a few questions, and I want you to raise your left hand if your answer is 'yes' and your right hand if your answer is 'no'. Like this." And Adrien raised his left and his right hands one after the other.

Claudia, sitting directly in front of him, mirrored his movements exactly.

"Uhm-- Your left hand."

She raised her right. "I mean, from your perspective, this is my left, so I was going off that," she said. "This is left to you, right?"

"Right— Er, wrong- I mean—" Adrien paused for a moment just to tussle with his own perception of which hand was which, making an "L" with his left hand for good measure to confirm it was what it said it was. "My left and right doesn't matter, it's yours that does."

"But then you might think I'm saying the opposite of what I am if you mix them up."

"I'm not going to do that!"

"Adrien, I fucking saw you mix them up a few seconds ago," Claudia sighed. "Let's just go with your left and right, and I'll do the math in my head to reverse it."

Adrien felt it necessary to capitulate—Jung, Maslow or Spielrein he clearly was not. Not just because those were all psychologists and what he was doing here was closer to leading his girlfriend through a therapy session (...Better than leading a patient into his bed, he supposed).

"Alright." Adrien took a deep breath, before taking out a piece of paper with all of his questions for her written on it. "Question One: Do you feel trapped in this relationship?"

Claudia paused. Raised one hand halfway, then raised the other. Then both were raised at about shoulder height, and then she dropped them both entirely.

"See? This is another issue with this whole yes-no thing. It's more than that."

"Well then tell me. Why is it 'more than that'?"

Claudia seemed to hold her breath, letting her words dissolve in her mouth like a bitter pill rather than saying them out loud.

"No, I'll play your little game," she muttered, raising both hands and averting her eyes from his. "Ask me if I feel like you are trapping me in this relationship."

He didn't have that as a question, actually. He thought that was what 'Question One' meant.

"Okay.. Do you feel like I'm trapping you in this relationship?"

Again, both hands were raised, but it was at a skew: If the height was a factor, it seemed like her answer was 75% "No" and 25% "Yes". Still, her eyes were turned away.

"Do you feel like I'm intentionally trapping you?"

100% "No". Adrien thought about it for a moment, and what he got was probably a clearer picture than if he'd just stuck to the original first question outright. She did feel trapped or obligated in some way, but it was slight and she didn't think he was doing it on purpose. She probably didn't even see his proposal as anything malicious moreso than as something impulsive. Claudia probably understood—and he did too, to be fair—that when he had proposed to her, Adrien had been blinded by his own hopes for the future that he sort of disregarded what would have to happen to get there. What Claudia would have to potentially change about herself to make that work.

"Do you feel like you're trapping yourself in this relationship?"

100% "Yes". ...That was interesting.

"How?" Adrien set the paper down on the floor entirely. "Is there something else to it, or—"

Claudia had closed her eyes entirely. "That's not a 'yes' or 'no' question," was all she said.

"...Do you think you're trapping me?"

200% "Yes". She even used her other arm to support it, stretch it up further. Adrien just nodded, and continued to think of similar sentiments or questions to try and get to the bottom of it that way.

"You think you're trapping both of us in this."

Still a "Yes".

"...And you think you're doing it.. more intentionally than I am?"

Even more of a "Yes".

"Are you worried that I'm unhappy in this and I don't know it?"

"I can't raise my hand any higher than this," she joked. "Hell, Do you want me to stand up? Jump?"

"No, we can stay seated," he said. "...Here, my turn. Ask me if I'm worried that I'm unhappy in this."

Claudia finally opened her eyes, and Adrien noticed they were initially shut to hide how watery they were. She looked to his crossed legs, then to his shoulders, and then right as the top of his head—the closest she could probably manage to eye contact at that point.

"Are you?"

He raised his left—her right.

"No," he said, keeping his hand raised. "Not at all. I feel like if I was unhappy and didn't know it, it would at least be something eating away at me or whispering in the back of my mind, but it's not. You know what I'm talking about, right?"

Claudia nodded.

"And- If we really need to look at it in this way— I enjoy myself more when I'm with you. Quite literally—I think I'm a better person because of you. It's been really nice to have someone to open up to like this," he confessed. "—And I know I'm hiding things, just like you are, but I hope we can work through that together. I really do have just as many issues as you do, Claudia. You're not any more of a burden to me than I am to you."

"It's not really a 'burden'," Claudia sighed. "I feel like I'm trapping myself in this because I want to take care of you so badly. It's kind of ruining my life, and it'd be better to let it go... but I still want to because I love you."

"Exactly," Adrien said. "So why can't the same be true for me?"

You know I saw someone make a restaurant metaphor for the Miraculous Ladybug fandom and if I could describe it on my own.

It is like you there was a good restaurant you used to go to everyday and it made me very happy all the time. But then one day you get plagued by rude and angry customers that come and ruin the moment, and as time goes on and on they start to come and ruin it and not even the staff and good food can help stop it. And at this point you just leave and stop going to that restaurant.

Then you find other restaurants that you enjoy and make you happy, it has its bad customers sometimes but not enough to ruin the mood. But sadly you think of your favorite restaurant and, although the food was good and not all the customers were bad, the bad ones just ruin your chance of killing my joy.

I think I'm having that experience with BG3. The fandom is insufferable.

I think one problem I've had in fandoms, especially the ML one is how mean girls cliquey "friendship" groups can be. Artists in particular.

"Friends" that force you to follow their ideals and headcanons and beliefs and yell at you for following or being friends with people they don't like. "Friends" that look down on other artists and people because of a skills difference or shipping or favourite characters. "Friends" that try to cosy up with you because you have a big following and won't hesitate to make you feel like shit.

From my experience in the fandom (and I've been here from the beginning, once being just a lurker), other than rampant cyberbullying, catty behaviour and dumb idiots trying to force their purity culture, there really shouldn't be a reason to force your friends follow who you say they should follow. That they should like what you say they should like. This is so disgustingly controlling and insane. (And of course, I understand there are exceptions but I'm talking about people putting down others for dumb shit).

So what I'm trying to say is to think critically, don't fall for peer pressure and don't let the "popular" people make you do things you don't want to do. You can have contrasting opinions and like different things and hate different things and still be friends or be civil. It isn't that hard.

The fact that we're the same people who used to whine about canon "killing off ladynoir" for months and that the funny break-up/cheating scenarios are always about Adrienette is just a coincidence, it's totally unrelated, no no you don't understand, it's different. As someone who was both around for the great Chameleon salt wars as well as a participant in them, at least the salters back then could admit that we were salty and owned up to it. We called shit writing way back then and people were like "no, the writing is great you guys are just so picky and don't understand the show" and now that canon has done something they don't like they're doing the same shit but insisting they're different and better 😂 like nah, babes, yall are salty. Say it with your chest.

And like I'm not immensely pleased with the ending of s5, but Adrinette is not what went wrong last season. Adrinette was one of the only good parts of the latter half of s5. I still hold that their development in s5 was good, and I appreciate how they handled their relationship with going slow and building trust and understanding. Everything that happened with Gabriel that whole season is what was wrong with s5. But we don't see anyone talking about that shit. Everything is Adrinettes fault, or more specifically, Marinette's fault, and she needs to be punished and get dumped by the boy of her dreams so she can run into his arms again in a cat suit for comfort. That's not likely to fuck either of them up when a reveal happens. How could it? 🤡

Point blank, if yall are actively rooting for an Adrinette breakup solely bc you want LN to get together or want Marinette to be punished for keeping secrets, yall are salty. Own it.

"Adrien isn't emotionally stable enough to know the truth, but he's totally cool to keep being Chat Noir!" is my 'favorite' variant of that take. Like, you cannot have this both ways. If he's incapable of facing personal hardship (which really doesn't fit the character, btw), then he's not fit to be a hero.

I still can't get over that the 'lesson' of Chat Blanc and Ephemeral is apparently "Adrien is a delicate flower who can't know things" and not "Adrien is incapable of facing the full truth of his messed up family during the final battle, so he needs to learn beforehand so he can process things. Also, Gabriel needs to remain in the dark or be the one to find out during the final battle". Like how much more satisfying would that have been if Adrien was revealed and the shock made Gabriel lose? Tables turned old man!

Also, like I said on the scarf post, Marinette keeping this secret is not in line with her other secrets. It's a wildly different flavor of secret that actively hurts Adrien with Marinette being the only one to benefit. Just terrible writing all around. These characters deserved so much better! Miraculous sucks at handling both the power of love and the power of friendship.

Okay, I'm done. I'm gonna fucking say it. This is my take that's hot enough to scorch the earth.

Marinette is not a 14-year-old girl

"Marinette" is a fictional character, therefore she is a construct made by a group of grownass adults, who should fucking know better. When Marinette does such an abhorrent thing that it has people renoucing her writing while the writers make excuses for her, that's not Marinette "making a mistake", that's the writers resolving the plot the way they intended to.

The writers literally think she's in the right to lie to Adrien. They've said so, the fucking show bible says Adrien will never learn the truth so Marinette will keep lying to him. Do you honestly think the writers would actually make their protagonist that much a parallel to her boyfriend's abusive father on purpose? They literally had no idea what they were doing when they wrote the finale with Marinette gaslighting her abuse victim boyfriend about his father's abuse. We're meant to only see Marinette protecting poor, fragile Adrien from things that would hurt him, even though that is how Gabriel saw his actions as well.

As far as the writers are concerned, Marinette has to make those decisions for Adrien, because she knows best. Because she's the protagonist. She's literally the center of the fictional universe of Miraculous, and, as of the retooling in season 4, the show is being written accordingly. Marinette only makes mistakes when she doesn't know something, meaning the mistake wasn't really her fault even when she feels guilty. She's never allowed to be morally wrong about anything, because the writers have changed the way this show works. It's Protagonist Centered Morality all the way down, now, the protagonist is literally just a mouthpiece for how the writers think things should work, and that is that Adrien's trauma isn't allowed to inconvenience Marinette in the slightest.

The people defending this writing choice are even worse, though. They actively voice the general idea that abuse victims shouldn't let their trauma ever inconvenience anyone, or they don't deserve relationships, if they're not outright denying a person's right to be traumatized at all. "Adrien isn't emotionally stable enough to know the truth," they say with complete sincerity, not realizing how ableist they sound. "Adrien should forgive Marinette for acting like his abusive father because Marinette had good intentions," they claim every time they try to justify Marinette's behavior, valuing the mistreating party's feelings over those of the party that is being mistreated. And let us not forget that even Marinette's good intentions just mimic Adrien's abuser.

Like, I know it's because these fans care more about Marinette as a character than they do about Adrien. They're both fictional constructs and not real people, so people will side with their favorite. But, once again, the people justifying the bullshit this show does with Adrien sound so much like abuse apologists that we really have to start calling things by their actual names.

I don’t normally criticize or even insult this hard but these are the few times I’ll do because I’m not the only one having enough of a certain fandom’s shenanigans:

I used to tolerate and even slightly like Miraculous Ladybug for several years since they were first released just bc their opening was catchy.

However, ever since “Chameleon” was released, it started a huge trend of Lila Rossi hate content. I’ve never seen such a magnitude of hatred on a controversial fictional character or even other characters who are innocent compared to previous shows I’ve watched. And y’all have seen it corrupt and infect other fandoms when they crossover since the late 2010s to even the present…

The last fucking straw was when I was searching for Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer fics on here, an untagged salt fic showed up with it! I was like fuck this, I’m removing anything miraculous out of my social media blogs and bookmarks/favorites on fanfic sites I use!

And Thomas Astruc is a rather pathetic human being, because he projects himself a little too much by stating that Chole is based off of his past bully; him and his ex girlfriend had a virtual daughter, Marinette. I have nothing against self-inserts but this is a bad example, not letting go of the past that leaks into popularized fictional media where.

At this point I think Miraculous is not worth of anyone’s time, new curious viewers or former fans.

i left a half-drunk gatorade outside, and the next morning i found a snail had climbed up to the (sealed but drippy/ grapey) rim to sip and hang out overnight. i was super charmed, until i remembered gatorade is Salt Juice. she doesn't seem visibly shriveled from contact with it, but the salt concentration is just above 1mg/ml; did i just poison this innocent wanderer?

salt isn’t any more toxic to snails than it is to you. they just have skin that doesn’t lock water in as efficiently as yours, so they get dried up when awful people put granulated salt on them. the salt and sugar in your drink is well dissolved in water, so the snail probably only got some nutrients or at least a new flavor to remember out of the experience.

One of the biggest problems people had with the L//S is how poorly developed it's been and how less effort it has been put into it, And don't get me started how Adrichat and Maribug barely interact basically making the ship have 0 chemistry.

But then when ships like Lukanette and Adrigami came along, then there's some Toxic L//S stans who bash the characters (and doxx lukanette and adrigami shippers), with their only excuse being "ThEy R iN tHe Way of adr///ette/L//s (Mainly because they're insecure that Lukanette/Adrigami has Chemistry, proper development and effort and their ship doesn't)

Yikes, people doxxed each other because of ships?? For some reason I'm not entirely surprised. I've seen fandoms with super toxic people and the ml fandom sure can be toxic as hell. If you (general) get so worked up about people's opinions about characters from a kids show, you should be denied access to the internet and instead have access to tons grass to touch. But yeah, even just "normal hate" can be frustrating and discouraging, so it's best to just block those people. I completely understand your frustration.

Luka//nette isn't good because they were half canon, it's good because they have a meaningful bond and the root for drama is always outside circumstances and not the fact that they fundementally don't work together. If Mari wasn't Ladybug, they probably wouldn't have split up. That's why I love this ship so much. Besides, they never got in the way of anything. Realistically, no ship can get in the way of a confirmed endgame ship bc, well, it's endgame. So this argument is kind of falls flat (honestly most arguments against Luka//nette I've heard were either not really important or kind of a very outlandish interpretation of their relationship, I don't care about either.)

Heck, even if Luka//nette wasn't the rival ship but just friends in canon who interacted twice, who cares? Shipping isn't supposed to be serious, it's exploring different dynamics between characters and having fun putting them in different scenarios and have them have 6176310278 different first kisses. There's no rule that you have to be on board with the canon ship.

Now speaking of L//S developement (bc now I'm also in a salty mood and I have thoughts)

I and many others have already talked about how s1-4 didn't really do much with them. But I find it funny when people say that s5 did a great job developing they're relationship because... bitch where? I've watched season 5 (I have no self respect) and everything was confusing and over the place and I think that's bc the writers can't make up their minds about which problems the L//S might face actually matter and how they can be solved.

The season starts with Mari making a big deal about how loving Adrien is dangerous because hero stuff. Oh but actually it doesn’t matter, she likes CN now, problem solved! Oh wait no Chat friendzoned her and Adrien is pushing real hard for Adr//nette so they give up their fucking miraculous (in times of crisis I might add), problem solved! No wait, actually the new heroes suck so they take them back, but that’s okay bc being in love and being a superhero at the same time is actually no longer a problem for some reason! The actual problem is that Mari is incapable of expressing herself because she has trauma. And THAT’S the real shit because fucking everybody gets so invested they organize literal dates for them and watch from a distance until they smooch instead of, oh idk, letting them do things their own way. But actually that also doesn't matter anymore bc Zoe just confessed and Mari was so inspired she immediately ran to Adrien. Oh but Adrien is a senti without free will and he goes to england soon whoopsie. Also Gabriel and Tomoe are now Adri//gami shippers because of course we need an arranged marriage deal type of plot. Oh yeah there's also something about Monarch apparently having all the miraculouses but who cares amirite

See what I mean? There's no structure, no actually overcoming problems, it's just random shit happening without any connection to the previous random shit. The characters don't develop in a meaningful way. Mari's only life goal is making one cohesive sentence in front of Adrien and he's kind of just there. I mean he could maybe feel inspired by Marinette's passion for arts and crafts and try out some stuff or he could continue to have no direction in life. Yes, as a teen it's hard knowing what you want to do later in life, but Adrien doesn't even really have actual hobbies he can define himself through. The writers fail not only to develop the relationship as a whole but also the characters involved as people. They could as easily be a situationship where they meed every two days to make out and it wouldn't change anyting. It's just fan service here and there combined with shallow and forgettable dialogue (I think, there wasn't a conversation that stick with me at least) and idk this maybe works as a first love that maybe lasts for a year before they have a dramatic break up and then move on with their lives, But the show tries to sell this idea that the square will actually stay together forever (or have a constant toxic on-off thing bc that's the vibe I'm getting. Plus Bunnyx sort of implied that).

It honestly reminds me of how people would keep stuff a secret because they are afraid of how the said person is going to react, but ironically, it’s going to create a bigger emotional reaction than if they told the truth/news themselves. Because they are going to be hurt and angry of having to learn someone you trust knew the whole time, and you had to learn this information from an outside source.

Now take a look at Adrien. One of the biggest reasons Adrien is emotionally impulsive is because he does not know how to process emotions healthily. His father and Nathalie would always make him do things without really consenting to him, and demand he go along with it because they said so. If they were to actively hide the truth from him, this is going to create more of an emotional burst from him, and they cannot help him this time. Because Adrien is not only going to learn his life was a lie, but his loved ones, the ones he believed genuinely cared about him, have actively hid the truth from him. This is an act of betrayal of trust, and this time, Adrien shouldn’t immediately forgive them. Yes, he can try to take account why they acted this way, but he should not gloss over that they took his agency away again. Yeaaaah it is unfortunate, a lot of people love Adrien and want him to be happy, but generally don't actually involve him in decisions and knowledge even when they involve himself. I think a lot of people in-universe still think of him as being this fragile precious softboi who would break down at the slightest bit of bad news, and want to "protect" him from feeling hurt or potentially making a decision that might not go well. I'm hoping that at some point, people start involving him as an equal, because right now he's still kind of... I dunno, apart from everyone?
