But consider: Asides from being impatient, Nine couldn't afford to wait any longer. "I've been gone a long time." "What does that mean?" "It means he's winning." Whoever this "big bad" is, he's winning by keeping Nine away from the Chaos. When we visited there, it was a whole temple. Dude is like Helios on his island of cows, he NEEDS to be there. He did the kindest thing he arguably could for MK, both because time was of the essence, (everything related to destiny was happening right now. Wukong looking for a successor, Macaque's revival, LBD making her move, the reincarnation of the pilgrims, etc.) and because waking MK up 50 years before the cycle ends would mean his stone egg would be fully baked. He'd exit as an adult rather than a kid capable of being adopted by Pigsy to live his life. There would just be a shell of a person meant to be the harbinger of chaos, with no personality of his own. Shout out to the person who said that's what the trials were designed to do, to speedrun development of empathy and a personality for the harbinger to sacrifice himself.
Whoever this "big bad" is, he's winning by keeping Nine away from the Chaos.
is he? or was he winning because he got Nines antsy enough to go back to the Chaos beyond? we only got that line to introduce us to our new big bad. “He’s winning” can mean a lot of things. maybe it means “he” has tried to keep Nines away for too long, but Nines does not look upset about the he guy. his beef is with Nuwa
When we visited there, it was a whole temple.
are we sure that is Nines’ temple? and what would he need a temple there for? it’s in the CHAOS! i highly doubt there’s worshipping in there. i honestly thought that “temple” was an entrance into the Chaos beyond. it is the gates, the border of the “cage” so to speak. yeah, sure it had the image of two snakes like yin and Yang but are one of those snakes actually Nines?
there is just a lot about him we do not know and what we were given contradicts each other. i am sure, Nines acted with what he felt was the best course scenario for MK and himself, but that still doesn’t stop his character from being confusing
also, when i said 50 years, i meant; after he woke MK up early, Nines could wait until MK lives 50 years as a mortal. at the very least. like out of all the villains MK would face over the years, Nines could at least have the decency to be kind about it since he does care about MK having his freedom of choice.
and like, 50 isn’t that bad for a human. you may have bad joints now or a fixed sleep schedule, but it id still an age for a character to end the world. Pigsy seems close to his 50s (he reads as 45 to me) and still wields a giant rake!
but obviously, we would have a different dilema with 50 year old mortal MK. he might not be as traumatized about killing himself and communicate his fears (the horror!)
but that’s not my point. my point is that Nines is an immortal chaos being who lived before lmk’s canon cycle and so he sees time differently. one year is not a long time for him, or it shouldn’t be. so why did he only give MK the chance to live less than a quarter of his life and then need to decide if he should kill himself for the cycle or let the cycle end.

i think you are wrong in taking macaque completely in face value that he just wanted to evilly fuck with mk in shadowplay. I could see it as a main reason, or even 90% on why he did what he did, but why doubt macaque's words in everything except this specific instance.
Personally (and this is just MY interpretation) he liked MK enough to not want him to be wukong 2.0, he wasnt fond enough to not traumatize him or go about it in a sane way, and he was projecting a lot he saw things that werent actually there. But the teacher comment at the end and the vague warning about lbd, just make me doubt he only wanted to be a shit
didn't intend for it to be taken that way, my bad! i focused on macaque having fun tormenting mk mainly because its a repeated behavior. he did it before, he's doing it again. and i agree with you that that's the main reason why he went out of his way to kidnap mk's friends and then fight him and make him feel bad, macaque is A Little Shit and he loves to project. good on you homeboy (?)
i don't personally think macaque liked mk, not in the slightest, especially since macaque potentially views mk (in the early seasons) as wukong replacing him with mk. the teacher comment at the end of his whole spiel cements for me the fact that macaque is trying to make mk dislike wukong, to disconnect them from eachother. manipulation 101, ya know? if he can cut off mk from wukong, then they won't be able to communicate. macaque successfully plants doubt in mk's, and in the audiences', mind. by calling mk a good kid, he's complimenting him and appealing to him while also insulting wukong, subconsciously getting a little on mk's good side while putting a bad word in for wukong. that's a typical manipulation tactic, flattery and then insults
macaque was there to torment mk for fun and to further manipulate mk away from wukong. he gets to have his cake and eat it too, it seems. the torment is what he says, but his actions also show how and why he's trying to manipulate mk.
but i will say i forgot about him warning mk about lady bone demon! i even rewatched the scene to make sure i got everything right LOL. after gloating for a while, macaque says "something's coming; something you're not even close to ready for". i don't think he set out on the shadow play endeavor to warn mk, but i think he took his chance to try at the very end when he realizes that mk "isn't as dense as he looks" and that maybe, just maaaaybe theres a chance that lady bone demon could be defeated

Character Info: (Destiny’s Lament)
Part 2
Part 3
Bai He:
Age: ranging from 14-20 years old. Though the creator prefers that she is around 14/16 as she really does view her as a child. (No ships please)
Info: Bai He is the Reincarnation of Lady Bone Demon, after LBD splits her and MK’s soul in half, she gives one half to MK and steals MK’s half into her own, reincarnating so that the soul will be lost. Bai He takes the place as Wukong successor with the hero name ‘Lady Lily Valley’ or ‘Lady Lily’ she has all the powers of MK with a few alterations such as Soul Eyes and slight Ice Powers when building her mech.
Bai He’s biological parents wanted a son, however got a daughter instead, so by the age of 5 they abandoned her in an alley before Tang found her. Unlike MK, Bai He gets adopted by Tang, somewhat reversing the roles, she heads to Megapolis city when Tang and her move there. Both of them live in the apartment above Pigsy as long as Tang gets the job as Waiter.
Bai He is a gaming streamer, both Mei and her decided to switch content which is how she found the staff.
Bai He likes to call Tang ‘Mom’ because his voice sounds more like a mom than a dad. And because he acts more motherly than fatherly.
She also uses Tang’s scarf to wipe off glitter instead of tissues because she refuses to stain anything that is white. (Yes this has been a problem, especially during her…erm… ‘Shark Week’) Tang has only convinced her to stain pads, but has yet to convince her for anything else.
Her fashion choice consists of pink, black and white, after the events of Season 3 (now 4) she opts for more pink and blonde colors, refusing black, white and blue, at some point she even tried dying her hair pink, before finally accepting who she was and putting that behind her.
She is unaware of the changes in the timeline, until Season 3 (Now 4) when she gets confirmation of her identity as Lady Bone Demon.
Tang Shifu:
Age: Around 30-40
Info: Tang was in 2nd-year college in Japan, when he first adopted Bai He, opting to raise her despite his roommate’s protests. He dropped out in his 3rd Year despite his parents’ protests because his roommate was neglecting her needs whenever he was busy. Tang moved back to Megapolis with stolen money from his parents and never looked back, choosing to raise Bai He than to please his parents high expectations.
They met Pigsy after Tang was craving for some noodles and Tang worked at Pigsy’s for a bit before finally landing a teaching job somewhere.
Tang cares a whole lot for Bai He, even willing to run towards danger just to see her safe. The scene in the pilot completely traumatized the man and made him a little overprotective before Season 2.
Tang was aware of his shield powers prior to Season 1, he was nearly hit by a car and ended up acting on instinct, which is one of the reasons he started researching about Journey to the West.
Tang has a brother in this AU, who owns the Golden Cicada yum yums website. I won’t do name drop yet but his brother speaks like Porty MK and does actually care for Tang, which is how he moved back to Megapolis despite being in Japan.
Tang is less cowardly here, but still continues to be a freeloader. I also removed some of his ego, so in season 4 (now 3) during the training montage, Pigsy and Tang’s roles switch for a bit, except Pigsy still keeps his personality. (Being a father can do that to you, you get stress than be laidback)
FreeNoodles is canon here, but they only marry during Season 5 (FANMADE) during the Bone Bros arc. He, Pigsy and Sandy met in high-school, Sandy and Pigsy were in a biker gang and Tang was the sassy Honor Student. Pigsy and Tang broke up after Tang had to go to Japan for College.
Tang doesn’t mind being called ‘mom’ but it was certainly a problem when Bai He got lost in the city once and she asked to call her ‘mom’ that they thought Tang was trans. He wasn’t, the only thing queer about him was he was gay.
Tang wears his design inverted (Instead of Red being the dominant color, it was white) this was to prevent Bai He from using his clothes to wipe off glitter, at some point he tried Washing his scarf, but has since given up on removing the glitter and only mildly washes it. Once every week all the glitter is washed away, but the rest of the days, the glitter stays on. The Lily pin on him is not given from Bai He, it was a gift for Bai He from his brother, but Bai He doesn’t like pins so he wore it instead. The only thing given to him from Bai He is the rainbow bracelet.
‘Did you color it rainbow because you like rainbow?’
‘No because you’re gay’
‘Ah noted.’
He is unaware of the changes in the timeline.
Pigsy/Zhu Dachu
Age: Around 30-40
Info: Pigsy had just newly reopened the restaurant months after his mother’s funeral when Tang showed up with Bai He. All those feelings rushed back to him in that moment, but he played it cool.
Pigsy has a delivery boy, still yes, Bai He had a TEMPORARY crush on him but got over it after a while.
Pigsy and Bai He have an Uncle-Niece Relationship, however Bai He started shipping him with Tang. (Again instead of MK’s dad effect, it’s Uncle effect for Bai He)
Most of Pigsy and Tang’s role switch, so in the pilot it was him comforting Tang instead of Tang comforting him. However he did come with them as Tang was just as cowardly in the pilots before Bai He got a near death experience.
Pigsy is just in the background as Sandy, honestly since Tang and Pigsy switch roles at times it’s hard for me to actually add some sort of stuff for Pigsy. So his info is really short.
He still has the same personality. He and Tang broke up when Tang had to go to Japan and Pigsy had to go back to his farm. In this AU he actually has a lot of relatives, it’s just that…he hasn’t met any of them. Pigsy is also fatherless, having lived with his mother and aunt for a while.
His design doesn’t change until Season 5 (FANMADE) when he opts so wear a Red Scarf that acts like a choker. He only wears it during missions with Bai He or when he’s not in Pigsy’s Noodles. Pigsy also has his ‘Pig Demon’ form, however the reason he opts for the Smaller form and he looks less like a demon because demon kind has evolved that certain demons who don’t add human meat to their diet, don’t have certain features like a normal demon, such as colored eyes. The big form is activated only upon great strength as it actually requires a lot of human meat.
He is unaware of the changes in the timeline.
Sandy/Sha Dali
Age: The Somewhere around 30-40
Info: He’s been friends with Tang and Pigsy since High-School.
His past of violence still remains, (I am waiting for a Sandy backstory because it just MIRRORS Sha Wujing)
Also- for funsies, yes, Sandy is Sha Wujing in this AU, no reincarnation no death, nada, he is Sha Wujing, no one knows this because he’s just that good at acting that he needs a damn Oscar.
Sandy/Sha Wujing, fell in love with cats, not just for therapy, he just-
He grew soft on them.
Sandy still has his powers from his prime years, but due to his years of violence and his want to keep it from everyone that he’s Sha Wujing, he doesn’t say anything.
Why is he in high school? He needed to learn the basics of the mortal world, and libraries weren’t really helping him. (It also couldn’t help him find a job, unlike Wukong-)
He will reveal this in the Bone Brotherhood Arc.
Since MK seems close to Sandy, due to how many episodes where Mei, Sandy and MK are the focus exists, Bai He is also close to him and the other reason is because of cats.
Sandy helped Pigsy reopen the restaurant before getting into therapy.
And he’s been suffering seeing Pigsy and Tang during the first years of their relationship, having third-wheeling the whole thing for a long time and already planning their wedding to be a mash up of what Pigsy and Tang wanted their weddings to look like.
No he doesn’t feel weird that Pigsy and Tang are marrying nor dating he knows reincarnation is not the same as the past life.
He stayed in the biker gang because of Pigsy and is actually surprised how much the reincarnation differs from the both of them.
He actually wants to help Wukong, but he doesn’t want to risk his identity.
Actually knows more than he lets on, in fact I’ll make him an important character because Sandy appreciation is a go.
Sliktea might be canon.
I’ll say his new design consists of Flower Tattoos, that’s about it, nothing much really. The only one who actually frequently changes outfits is Bai He.
He is aware of the changes of the timeline.
Mei Dragon/Long Xiaojiao
Age: 23 or younger.
Info: Mei and Bai He met in an arcade.
Mei’s a stunt streamer, where she livestreams her races and her stunts.
Mei’s fans don’t believe she’s actually friends with Bai He until Season 4 (now 3)
Mei has more followers than Bai He (surprisingly)
The sole reason Bai He is even a hero in the first place.
No more Samadhi Fire, she actually learned from Red Son that having the Samadhi Fire takes half your lifespan. (Aka, she will die from sickness because it never really had a proper form to begin with)
Mei obviously doesn’t trust Wukong like in the show, but as The Bone Bros arc commences she starts to sympathize with him.
‘What’s the use of powers if you can’t use them?!’-To Ao Lie
‘What’s the point of being strong if I can’t help my friends?!’-To her, during the Bone Ore Brothers arc
Mei is also kind of into conspiracy theories.
Not into the boring history stuff and wants to skip right ahead to things.
Macaque trains her too, not sure who would teach her how to actually use a sword though.
Dragon Form is much stronger, we might get full dragon.
Not sure how to make her design yet, it’s still in the worlds (or maybe she hasn’t changed design)
Is unaware of the changes in the timeline.
Sun Wukong
Age: 5000 years old or something-
Info: In Season 1 he’s the same old mentor as always, but in Season 1 he’s actually more active as a mentor figure, in Duplicatnation, since Bai He doesn’t work in Pigsy’s shop and is doing fine as a Gamer Girl, while being sassy and setting boundaries for her schedule (Yes, Bai He is a responsible little lady) Wukong texts her her lessons (With Email of course)
Wukong goes to MBK for criticism and guidance of being a mentor, the most important advice Wukong gets is ‘Don’t let your student get into the big leagues yet if you think they can’t handle it, do it yourself if you have to’
Bai He still thinks he’s not as good as a mentor as Macaque, which is fair since Wukong’s lessons are often vague. Something he picked up from both Subodhi and Tripitaka.
Wukong gets therapy from MBK, and has been since after the Journey.
Wukong is a part of MBK’s make-shift brotherhood, called ‘The Bone Crown Brotherhood’ (I accidentally misnamed it in the artwork for ‘Accepted Fate’ ) Jin and Yin might not be in good terms with him, but he is with them.
Wukong constantly gets nightmares, which makes it so MBK would manipulate his mind and cause good dreams. This would lead to a spiral of improvement for MBK, because this allows him to trap Macaque in an endless dream, making possession a bit harder to break without spreading himself too thin.
After Season 3 (now 4) Wukong is no longer active as a mentor figure. The role was given to Macaque.
Wukong wasn’t the one who sealed DBK 500 years ago.
He won’t interact with the gang after Season 3 (now 4) and is reduced to just talking with the Bone Crown Brotherhood.
He won’t tell anyone he’s getting therapy, nor has he relayed this information.
Wukong would tell MBK about Bai He’s improvements, adventures and even events related to her, making him an unwilling informant.
Wukong was the most willing host of MBK. For some unknown reason.
Nezha and Wukong are actually on good terms in this timeline, Nezha stumbled upon MBK’s dream spell and wanted to actually talk to Wukong.
Misty or MemK has been with Wukong since the events of Season 3 (now 4) Wukong refuses to inform anyone.
Wukong actually thought Macaque was dead, seeing him betray everyone is what made him salty.
He knows how to do a lot of things, like make old time medicine and singing.
He can read and write, his eyesight is just fucked and he’s relearning modern Chinese (Guys, he’s called ‘Intelligent Stone Monkey’ for a reason)
His design is still the same as the show, when possessed he looks different (obvi) and after the events of season 3 (now 4) he wears a yellow sweater with dark red pants.
Without Glamour, Wukong has burns all over his fur and a slight wound from his head that has yet to regenerate. It was probably because the circlet was on his head for a prolonged period of time compared to his other scars.
He is unaware of the changes of the timeline, until Season 3 (now 4)
Macaque
Age: 5000 years or something (The Pokémon card isn’t canon)
Info:
Macaque didn’t die to Wukong here. He died under different circumstances and was revived by MBK for unknown reasons.
Macaque has the ability to hear the past, present and future, thus causing him to fear MBK and break his oath more early.
Prior to the series, Macaque was locked in a mountain with his name. ‘Liu’Er Mihou’ and had the one key plan to defeating MBK, which Bai He took.
The reason Jin and Yin were at the mountain where he was locked up, is because they were guarding the mountain. But once they got word of MBK’s plans, they made Bai He and Mei release Macaque.
Macaque isn’t playing villain, nor does he hold Ill will to Wukong (Because he already knows how this plays out) he just steals Bai He’s powers, because he knows that it’s a combination of LBD and MK’s powers.
Unfortunately this made him incredibly weak, as he could take Wukong’s powers, but not LBD’s so this caused him to be helpless as he was possessed.
When possessed, Macaque can see and hear anything but can’t break free, he’s been a thorn on MBK’s side for a while.
Macaque was only given brief minutes of being free from possession, however was closely monitored by the Mayor who was also possessed.
Remember this scene?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Macaque was in the basement the whole conversation.
Season 3 (now 4) served as Wukong’s replacement, slowly shifting the mentor figure from Wukong to Macaque.
Macaque was heavily tortured after Season 4 (now 3) to be more compliant to possession.
Still a theater kid, can sing.
Macaque’s design only changes in Season 3 (Now 4) and when he’s possessed. Macaque wore a red, black and white hanfu (Help I don’t know if it’s a hanfu) with a red scarf and black arm plates. With a bone headdress holding his hair up and affected his hair to he white, plus revealing his six ears. (Which surprised Peng, cause he thought ‘Six Ears’ was just a title)
He is aware of the changes in the timeline due to his ability to hear through time.
Red Son
Age: Possibly also 5000 years old, it’s hard to tell because the Samadhi Fire was split when Tang Sanzang was still around.
Info:
He’s pretty much the same, I’m only changing his design in ‘Accpeted Fate’
You know, his less screen time makes sense in this AU, cause Season 4 and Season 3 switch, which could mean they were trying to have a good time with their little truce but NOOOO, Azure just HAD to ruin their bonding moment.
Red Son learns the truth about the Fire because of the events of Season 4 (Now 3) he refused to confront his parents about it.
This is a motive for why he went in and grabbed the fire for himself, not to make himself stronger, but to take responsibility for the fire he could not control.
Additionally, instead of Red Flames, he can control its heat to be so hot that it turns blue.
Red Son’s flames come with his emotions and determine how intense those emotions are, whether he’s actually really, really angry, or really really stressed, which also causes his hair to turn blue.
Red Son has more adept control over the Samadhi Fire, having trained with regular fire his whole life.
Red Son actually has extra dialogue when the roles switch during the time he was trapped in crystal.
‘I can’t believe I’m being…useless again…I can’t even control my own Fire!’
This is when PIF and DBK start realizing how much shit they place their son into.
(Tbfh those who say Mei is annoying and shouldn’t have gotten the Fire and dragonfruit shouldn’t exist, I’ll just say this- I as a multi shipper, will say that Mei who is born with strict parents or at least implied that they only started to accept her because she suddenly was chosen by the blade of her ancient ancestor, she out of everyone would’ve RELATED to Red Son more since she had at least a similar experience with him, which is why their relationship is so impactful and so important. Because only these two would definitely relate to whatever their parents raised them to be)
Red Son actually gets more attention in the Bone Ore Brothers Arc.
He considers Nezha a brother.
Also because Nezha kind of babysat him while his mother was trying to conquer the world.
Again I won’t change his design.
Is unaware of the changes in the timeline.
Mayor/General Shi
Age: ???? Somewhere 5000??? Maybe???
Info:
Mayor wasn’t bad-shit crazy, in fact he since he was emotionally involved with MBK and got to know him as a person rather than a god, (Like the original) he didn’t go insane.
Of course MBK gave him extra power, using some souls but not enough to drive him insane, this also extended his LifeSpan.
MBK just used those same souls and used it to take control of them.
He refused to fight MBK, thinking of him as his nephew.
Mayor ran for Mayor because MBK was too busy, when MBK arrived apparently he was running against Jin and Yin.
Mayor actually adopted MBK’s last name, whatever it was, he is one of the few who actually knows MK’s real name and last name. People actually get stunned when he writes his real name on paper.
Can draw a perfect circle.
Mayor went into a state of depression when MBK died, but he was one of the fastest to accept and recover from his death. His time as General serving as a method of healing.
It still hurts though…
Mayor went through finding the Bone Bros and is actually also an uncle figure to them, it’s just that they don’t listen to him half the time.
Mayor has a pet bird.
Mayor is the only one who actually visits Wukong for his mental health, replacing MBK as Wukong’s therapist.
Mayor has since kept this a secret from anyone else.
After the events of Season 3 (Now 4) he no longer has his powers, nor his immortality, so he will die one day.
Has retired from the fighting and now acts as support, knowing necessary runes and spells in order to heal people. (Tang Sanzang and Subodhi proved that mortals can use spells)
Design is still the same except after Season 3 (Now 4) when his design slowly gravitates to the color green.
Is aware of the changes in the timeline.
Jin and Yin
(I think I’ve been color coding them wrong-)
Ages: 5000+ years old, (Possibly older than Wukong)
Info:
Due to the implications of a memory seal, the Bone Ore Brothers remember what happens in the last timeline.
As such when they heard of MBK, they decided to follow them and find out it’s MK
MK adopted them as brothers.
Jin and Yin have Celestial Realm forms and powers. They have been sealed by Lao Tzu however.
Jin and Yin regain it during the Bone Ore Brothers arc.
So yeah Lao Tzu is probably dead? Idk-
After the Bone Ore Brothers arc, Nezha becomes an honorary brother.
Jin and Yin somehow know how to control MK’s baby powers minus the Wukong related ones.
Jin and Yin only get off for community service, the sole reason is because Nezha is already dealing with Heaven since Season 4 (now 3) because Jade Emperor is dead. He doesn’t want to deal with these two.
Mayor takes full responsibility.
Designs will be explained later, I’m already getting tired-
They are aware of the changes in the timeline.
MBK/MK/Qi Xiaotian.
(Finally the main gal himself!)
Age: ????
Info:
MK was still born a stone monkey from his original timeline, HOWEVER, when LBD transported her to this new timeline, that part of history was erased but not MK. He is still a stone Monkey.
Their reincarnate however is not a stone monkey, and is in fact a monkey revived from ice.
Still has his powers even when reincarnated, the LBD part of her was just as stubborn.
MK is Genderfluid.
MBK like Bai He still retains some power he has, such as Nimbus Cloud and the ability to create clones to some extent.
His powers sometimes spark Gold.
Was completely stripped of his powers other than those two, and has to rely on LBD’s powers, which slowly corrupt him as well as his sanity of being alone for too long.
Was with Wukong the longest, in fact this is why Wukong was so easily manipulated and so easily affected by his death, they made Wukong open up so much that Wukong didn’t even consider that his one and only friend that didn’t yell at him for once was betraying him.
In the original series, the strings were being pulled by mysterious hooded figures, but MK figured out their plans early on in the season (Inspired by a theory) and decided to kill them all off, he’s the one pulling the strings, as for Season 5 plot holes, I’ve already got this covered.

I hear ya, I do, but I also find it super interesting.
Azure came from a place of manipulation, to get what he wanted: power. He purposely lied, left out important details, and twisted the story.
Macaque comes from a place of deep emotion- he genuinely felt as though he was abandoned by his closest friend. Betrayed by the one he followed into battle, even tho he knew there would be dire consequences. Macaque tells things truthfully- altho his truth is only a small part of the story, and muddled up with emotion and hurt. Macaque befriended a hero who protected him and was kind to him; and he became said hero’s warrior, the sidekick… the hero’s shadow. Macaque is open to MK about his past bc he doesn’t want to watch history repeat itself. He sees how similar swk and MK are, and that scares him. The world doesn’t need another murderous, chaos inducing, impulsive monkey who stops at nothing for more power/immortality. While not a GREAT mentor, he does his best to teach MK genuinely good life lessons (maybe minus the first one, but that I think was self preservation bc of the whole LBD situation)
Wukong isn’t open about his past nearly as much because he regrets a lot of it. He isn’t proud of who he was, but he still wants MK to see him as the Good Guy TM. So naturally he isn’t gonna go into detail about the things he did. And, even though it was his own actions causing direct consequences,,, swk still has a decently traumatic past. It’s gotta hurt thinking about any of all of it. Plus, he sees himself in MK, no doubt: which has to downright terrify him, seeing how much the kid looks up to him.
So naturally MK is gonna go to Macaque for information, he’s been the only one who’s sorta willing to talk about it. Macaque is much more emotional vulnerable/ honest/ open around MK than swk is
(this isn’t me trying to argue your opinion btw, I just really like picking things apart)
I am kinda getting sick of macaque pov on events about swk,it actually getting annoying that we never see wukong talk about his past to mk,it bothered me that mk seems to go to macaque for information (in s4 specials) ,when macaque hasn't tell the whole truth all, even in the s4 specials he doesn't tell much,I don't want macaque to be the storyteller of jttw or swk story, because he doesn't know everything, his bias also is shown in shadowplay (s2,ep6),wukong should tell his own story next season to mk,about jttw and his history.
Personally, macaque has always been untrustworthy with how to tell these things, like azure.

MONKIE KID S3 SPECIAL SPOILERS BEWARE!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mk is one of the most mysterious characters in this show, and eventho he my fav character, his mysterious lore scares me, ESPECALLY after his encounter with LBD./  Throughout the series, we’re given hints to every character’s origin. Every major plot-important character has a backstory or a HINT about their origin in some way, shape or form. (for example, Wukong, Macaque, Sandy, Pigsy, Tang, Mei, etc.) Mk mentions NOTHING about his origin, not even his own real name.  But we have been given NOTHING about Mk. We don't even truly know why he was able to lift and use the staff. (or, another side theory, he’s somehow related to Wukong.)  . . .
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have a theory (of course, you’re free to agree or disagree) that Mk and LBD are somehow connected. During the pilot special of season 1, when mk is near the staff, my sister @annoyed-galaxy points out that whispers could be heard saying “Monkey king’s staff” or something like that to mk, like coaxing him to pick it up. Like it was his destiny. You could say it was more to the viewer, or hell, even for dramatic effect. But seeing that LBD has whispering echoes around her, AND she manipulates alot of things behind the scenes, it isnt far-fetched.  Also, in certain episodes, Mk’s eyes flicker blue after meeting LBD. Though other characters have met her, and yes their eyes have turned blue. But only if they're being controlled by her or given her power. Mk has experienced neither, yet there are scenes where his eyes briefly flicker blue and he gets images of LBD in his head.  Not only that, out of everyone in the specials, she interacts with Mk the most. He always seemingly gets ‘hit’ with whispers and echos from her. Mk always subtly freaks out when he’s near her, and she speaks to him out of everyone. Even saying her final words to him. You’d think she’d have way more to say to Wukong, or hell, even Tang, who is OBVIOUSLY related to the great monk in some way, the same monk that sealed her away.  But no, she chose Mk. Out of all of them. Her final words to him sent a shiver down my spine. Its like she sees a portion of herself inside Mk. She sees Mk’s motives damn-near resemble hers. Its like she has a shard of herself in Mk, like how Mei has a piece of the Samadhi fire in her. She even says both of their paths, though have good and understandable intentions, have the same end: pain.  I think Mk and LBD are related somehow, connected. Mk’s calmness was also eerie during that final scene too. He stressed and panics so easily, and yet during this whole special, he was calm. Honestly, too calm imo. I feel like eventually Mk is gonna break, because through all he’s went through in the special, he kept hope. Usually, its admirable. But idk, his persona during these specials felt unsettling to see at some points. He sees this traumatic stuff happening, and yet he continues to keep it together. I feel like in season 4, at one point, Mk is gonna become something he isnt proud of at all, and might even have to make a choice that will change his view on everything. Or even unlock a new power only unique to him.  LBD was such an important villain, and it feels like she burrowed herself in the heart of Mk the most. This definitely isnt going to be the last time we see or hear about her. The next time we do, I worry its gonna be because of Mk.   Because honestly, Who is Mk?

More Monkie Kid HC’s
I have absolutely nothing else to do then to debate things that could exist in an alternate universes with these ppl
.
-I saw a piece of fan art and I agree 100%, since Wu Kong’s staff is actually just a column from The Dragon of The East’s palace, he definitely knows how to pole dance. He’s got the strength of it and he’s a monkey so it’s obvious that he knows how to climb shit.
It’s just funny though since just because The Monkey King knows how to pole dance doesn’t mean he’s good at it, usually he’s just good at the acrobatics, the flow and calculated spins don’t really qualify as entertaining stuff in his books lmao
.
-MK is absolutely obsessed w/ space. At first he was only into his normal animal zodiac (monkey obv- also I’m so sad we don’t know literally any of the character’s birthdays RIP) but after he started using the internet more in his free time- he had time to browse the internet almost everyday but now he’s got so much shit to do- he found out that there’s European Zodiacs too, and got into those as well.
He’s got all his signs figured out, he makes AND takes those personality tests based off of your zodiac. One day he was fighting Red Son, took one look at him and was like “Yeah, you’d totally be an Aries  🙄”
Mei wouldn’t stop laughing for a week lmao
.
-Trans MK is basically cannon at this point, but training with Macaque bak in season 1 fully cemented MK’s experience as being treated as his gender but STEREOTYPED
This sounds way worse then I typed is as, but basically during his training with Macaque MK essentially was being encouraged to indulge in everything ‘a man’ does, like focus on power and strength over literally anything else, and ‘take charge’ and all that.
And while stereotypes usually piss him off, it was an eye opening experience per say cuz after the whole ordeal MK reflected on how most male assholes were encouraging themselves to act like they’re better then everyone on the planet. While for himself, MK had to actually have someone tell him that in order to become better at fighting he needs to embrace his ‘manliness’.
Eventually that’s one of the reasons why Macaque complimenting his fighting was so shocking and meaningful, since it approves the effort MK was making to pass all that time ago. (Now he’s more comfortable with masc and fem presenting whereas before he got dysphoria). Also imagine being the literal enemy and gender affirming your student because they’re genuinely doing well in something, Macaque did at least ONE thing correctly lmao
.
-After encountering LBD and everyone piling on the ship it wasn’t a secret that everyone was stressed out especially after Macaque tried to attack them (let’s assume for the sake of the argument that they managed to fend him off without capsizing the ship LMAo).
But MK started to notice how weary Wu Kong was of accepting anything. Like- if someone offered him food he could come up with a random excuse, if he was cold and someone offered him a blanket he’d just make his own, etc.
Obviously MK’s super heartbroken because of this and also vaguely curious so one day he asks Wu Kong what’s up, and after a lot of prodding, MK rounded up everyone and the Monkey King told them about how traumatizing and terrible the stupid fucking circlet was in JTTW.
^I’m making a whole post about this rn but HOLY SHIT I hate that goddamn circlet.
Wu Kong explains how he trusted Tripitaka (after glancing cautiously at Tang) and how he actually felt so betrayed when the circlet started to hurt. Also how close the happen stances were that after the JTTW gang saw the bone spirit for the first time Wu Kong got punished twice just for trying to protect everyone. (With influence from Zhu Ba Jie obv)
.
-Fighting some big demon eventually caused everyone to wait in this random room completely silent (like I’m talking everyone, Iron Fan, DBK, Macaque, Jin and Yin, etc.)
And it was super awkward so MK takes out his phone and you hear this dumbass fucking noise
Mei who instantly understood the assignment ALSO pulls out her phone and after the sound plays a second time Red son very loudly claims
“The world is about to fucking end and you guys are playing fucking Clash Royal?”
To which Jin and Yin EXPLODE with laughter and Red Son has to hastily explain this stupid ass American mobile game to all the deities and adults in the room that have no idea what the hell is going on.
Wu Kong downloads the game so he can beat MK cuz he’s competitive like that (and subsequently gets mad when they don't have a character base off of him and claims he will be sending a letter to the devs about it LMAO)
.
-After trying to lift the staff in the pilot Red Son took pity on the bull clone that lost its arms and made it have a nice and safe life as his personal servant (it’s way better than risking its robotic life everyday)
.
-MK gets handed a cup of coffee in the morning and is like “Oh awesome, thanks!”
And then heads to the cupboard to get his straw.
If he eats soft serve ice cream MK will also refuse to eat it unless he uses his straw. The reason why I say ‘his’ straw is because MK always carries a collapsable metal straw with him. He’s built DIFFERENT bro
.
-In an AU where everyone’s on the airship and Macaque redemption arc is happening, Macaque and Wu Kong constantly switch glamours as each other whenever they don’t have the energy to do something.
Wu Kong has to sit through a lecture with Sandy, and Macaque has nothing else to do? Switch
Macaque is about to get ambushed by MK because he won’t stop asking by about his ears? Cashing in the favour, switch
It even happens for menial chores like washing dishes and doing the laundry and since they treat their switching as a reward/token system it’s like
“Macaque you get to do my turn in laundry, I’m cashing in my switch”
“Wha- no the fuck you’re not, it’s MY turn and I’m saving mine, bitch”
“Uhhh haha very funny, no it’s not I was keeping count dude-“
“Wu Kong don’t even try it I literally have the calendar right here and it says: Last switch- Macaque as Wu Kong hid from Mei and Red Son after he stole their chips,”
“Hmmm okay you make a compelling argument, HOWEVER- and hear me out here: how about you do it anyway” And then he ran off glamoured as Macaque.
“MONKEY KING ITS YOUR TURN TO DO THE LAUNDRY I WILL NOT HESITATE TO SET YOU ASS ON FIRE IF YOU DONT” -Red Son
“Gods fucking damnit peaches I’m going to kill you,”
.
-When MK fights demons he often ends up rambling about whatever he can think about in order to organize his thoughts, balance stress/nervousness, and in general throw off the enemy. This leads to some... interesting interactions w/ them lmao.
Red Son (we’re considering Spicynoodles cannon bois) finds this endearing but also extremly annoying. Especially while he’s trying to chase MK down he can’t stop hearing
“Okay so yeah anyway as I was saying, there was this moment where he actually tries to kill himself but in a moment of- OH SHIT THAT’S HOT STOP TRYING TO SHOOT FIRE AT ME DUDE- in a moment of realization that he was being manipulated he jumps into a lake instead of hitting the ground-”
So... that’s something
-Extension to that: the only demon that does something other than try and kill him whenever he starts rambling is Macaque. Which sounds weird, but considering that back when Macaque and Wu Kong were still friends he would do this all the time, Macaque actually indulges MK in his ramblings.
Like MK would start talking about the plot of some movie he saw the other day- mention sponges and Macaque would be like
“Y’know kid it’s literally the weirdest thing that you humans use dead plants as a way to- what clean dishes? I mean just use a cloth it’s not that hard. Apparently sponges used to be made from coral I heard over the TV a couple days ago-”
“WHAT? Nuh-uh you’re lying we don’t use coral for sponges- AH DUDE CHILL OUT YOU ALMOST CRUSHED MY SKULL THAT TIME!”
“Oops, too bad I was a few centimeters off- anyway yeah I didn’t believe it earlier but if I think about it back in the old days we used to use moss all the time to get a cloth wet in order to wash shit since it stores water well so it wouldn’t be that far off-”
-Extra extra to this: one day Wu Kong stumbles into one of MK and Macque’s fights since he was in the area and all- and hears them hotly debating the credibility of some of Wu Kong’s adventures.
Mk while running for his actual LIFE:
“Okay I hear what you’re saying Macaque, but there is NO WAY Monkey King ate through those clothes that quickly! They would’ve opened the box already-“
Macaque while scanning the rubble to look for MK:
“Kid you have no idea what you’re talking about: I was THERE, dude. I was right there when it happened-“
Mk: “NUH UH that’s not in any of the books!”
Macaque: “YOU THINK SOME RANDOM HISTORIAN KNOWS I WAS STALKING THE GROUP AT THAT TIME!?”
Wu Kong: “You were WHAT”
Etc.
.
-Another one where everyone’s on the ship:
Sandy made a playlist that’s HUGE and plays it on shuffle on the speakers everyday. Usually it’s a bunch of like- 80′s music- idk how to describe it except for music you’d listen to while smoking a cigarette while it’s raining and looking out your window
Basically I’m aiming to say it’s really chill music
Anyways when this song comes on both Macaque and Wu Kong happen to be on the deck at the same time, and they ended up sitting down and reminiscing on all types of stupid shit they did in the past.
It eventually became a ritual so whenever they hear the beginning of the song they drop everything they’re doing and make a beeline for they’re spot on the very edge of the ship so they can be only deities and brag about
“OH MY GODS remember back in the old days how-”
“Haha ‘back in the old days’- you sound like an old man, Peaches”
“Shut the hell up, Macaque I do not,”
“Uh huh, whatever helps you sleep at night 姥爷 ”
(姥爷 is basically saying old grandpa- a double insult to Wu Kong’s age in this context lol)
.
-Macaque really wanted to learn how to play an instrument at some point because he saw the weird human thing make noise (that slightly bothered him because of his sensitive hearing but he brushed it off-) and wanted to try it.
The first thing he ever picked up was a bell.
The attempt ended with him curled up on the ground clutching his ears to just stop the ringing- he threw away the blasted copper piece of trash why were his ears still ringing?
He tried again with a Guqin since it makes an actual melody instead of being a percussion instrument but..,,,
He plucked a single string and feeling the vibration along with the intense sound overwhelmed him and he had to jump away from the thing to keep himself from throwing it across the field.
Yeah, Macaque stays away from instruments even though he actually was interested in learning how to use one.
-If you take this into account s3e8 is just so much sadder *cries*

Decided to go ahead and design the older version of the Traffic Light Trio, plus some more characters.
These are designs for when the kids will become the new “rulers” (however that doesn’t stop to FFM). It’s pretty easy to figure out why I did an old version for Zan too, she is part of their little family. But I did one for LBD’s host too because I decided that, regardless of what will happen in canon with season 3, I wanted her to be part of this AU.
In here Bai He (name courtesy of @skellebonez) had no memories of who she was before being turned into LBD’s puppet. She didn’t know her family or remember her name, and Mei had to give her one after the first week of spending time with her because no one wanted to keep calling her “the girl” or just “kid”. So she stayed with MK’s found family.
Even tho she was freed from LBD, she didn’t get out of it completely untouched. Physically, the only thing that changed was her eyes that had turned into a dark shade of blue when once they had been brown. Bai is also cold to the touch. Not to an alarming point, but that did develop into her easily clinging to warm people (namely, Red Son and Wukong). But she also retained some of the spirit’s ability, specifically, that weird “panic attack” inducing power. She is however terrified of using it and only does so in an extreme situation.
Her implement into the found family wasn’t completely smooth tho, for one reason: Macaque. Because here is the thing: In this AU, Macaque was first used as a test subject for LBD's experiment (he is the closest thing to a copy of Wukong, so if she wanted to do anything to one monkey, she had to be able to do it to the other as well) and then used by LBD to fight Wukong like a puppet on strings, and he did not like that in the slightest!
So, Bai’s sole presence was enough to infuriate him, even if he knew it wasn’t her fault. She was just a mortal kid when LBD took her, even if she did put up a fight it would have been useless. But it takes a while for Mac to realize that “ Oh shit. This child is just as traumatized as me by this whole thing”.
But despite Macaque’s stubbornness, he did realize he was taking it out on someone who was just another victim, and it was probably helped by the fact that Bai would stay near warm people. And while both Red and Wukong have no problem with that, Wukong is the one she ends up spending the most time with because he feels especially guilty because he didn’t destroy LBD when he could and this kid (and his other kids) paid the consequences. So, because Bai spent a lot of time with the Monkey King, she had to spend time with Mac as well.  And while the kid doesn’t remember everything that happened while being possessed, she knows what LBD did to Macaque and she is scared that the dark monkey would take revenge on her, so she’s also not too happy to spend time with him.
But they do end up going past their fear and develop some form of mutual respect. They basically end up bonding over being traumatized by the same spirit and “No Peaches I did not adopt anyone SHUT UP”
Also, I should probably mention that the youngest of the kids still has a triple-digit as number

When the seal has put on did BK know it or it's already to late?
Anyway how many days is the distance when Macaque put the seal? If it takes a few weeks i think Macaque experience high depression between waiting for MK and the gang and about BK finding it out first
so this is a slightly vague but mostly complete timeline :D some parts are still open to change if theres something better or cooler that could happen
1) swk and lbd fight and the bone king is created (bai he- lbds previous host escapes)
2) the mayor and macaque adjust to living with the bone king. mk has no idea anything is wrong. BK takes macaques hearing for the first time, the mayor [REDACTED till i finish this comic] 2-3 weeks later, the bone king, feeling bits of mks (swks) power goes to find the crew and torment them
3) a little time after that bai he makes it to mk to warn them about what happened- more under cut
4) the bone king brings macaque and the mayor out with them to try to take mks power, with bai hes warning, the crew have managed to make a plan to seal them under a mountain but it does NOT work and after throwing the mountain off, (this comic) the bone king goes kaiju war form because of swks traumatic memories of you know, being under a mountain (👀 @animemoonprincess i saw your tags). in the confusion, macaque goes to find mk and tries to hide him and they talk, briefly. macaque agrees to contact mk through astral projection to try to figure out a plan
5) my timeline is a bit muddier here but the bone king is a little less present from now because they have some things to do [SPOILERS]. theyre aware somethings a little different with macaque but figure they just scared him real bad and hes still a little shooketh- the mayor figures out macaque is contacting mk. he does not tell the bone king.
6) some time after this mk figures out a plan to get an item designed to help people make difficult decisions by splitting them into two parts. this plan will only work if macaque first places a seal on the bone king- to drain a lot of their power, and to power the item
7) @ninja-knox-ur-sox-off comic happens (aka the Best Thing i have ever layed eyes on) and macaque puts the seal on the bone king
8) (very very hazy on how this Whole Thing happens but any people with ideas can come send an ask, or it might come about organically) a bit of time later, after the seal is filled, they lure the bone king out and use the item on them, splitting swk and lbd. the mayor grabs lbd and runs. the crew gets swk somewhere safe. macaque also runs but in a Different Direction
:D tada

What do you think will happen in season 4?
Hahaha, it depends on what are you asking for!
We have so many arcs going on here and my predictions are way different than my expectations, they are almost the opposite sides of the possible plot of s4.
So SPOILERS ALERT!
Wukong is going to lose the fight with LBD of course xD I'm more than sure about it. But also he won't die, I think season 4 it's too soon for that (if the writers plan to let Wukong die at all... it would be actually interesting to see some angst when Mk literally replaces Wukong as the new Monkey King). I guess he will hide somewhere to recover and I wish he would meet Macaque halfway. They really have things to talk about. I'd like to watch the whole ep with only them talking/fighting. the fact they both have different views on what happened between them, and we don't know either what happened or what they think about it, it's just thrilling and intriguing.
Also, I'm a big fan of a theory that Wukong has kinda complex bc he hurt Mei and disappointed his successor. He's kinda still in the "punishments&praises plus self-interest" level of morality (it's a child level if you dunno what I mean), I think that's why he always runs away from consequences. He just doesn't believe in forgiveness and redemption (maybe that's why he did what he did to Macaque). So Wukong getting a bit obsessed to earn Mei and Mk forgiveness without even trying to directly apologize to them? I'm in that angst, baby
Also Macaque is finally free and nothing forces him to do anything. I'm super curious about his arc. He was my very first love in lmk, I can't hate him for anything, I just understand and feel this character too badly
Mk and the crew... I didn't watch the English translation of the scene when they talk about what they're gonna do now xd So no idea, are they looking for Mei? I don't know xd although I'm still waiting for Sandy's true potential reveal and Mk going apeshit
RED SON. YEAH.
Look, I was so hyped and I overanalyzed EVERYTHING about Red Son in season 3, my BFF read essays about him day and night for two weeks, and I'm not gonna write everything down right here right now, but LISTEN, there is no other way to explain what he's doing in this season, he got pretty attached to Mei, or at least to protagonist, but listen, hear me out omg
~ Red Son was wandering around the world with her dragon plushie, looking for Mei to help her with Samadhi ~
TRY TO READ IT AS A FRIEND'S INTENTIONS WHEN THEY ARE LITERALLY STILL STRANGERS
And however obsessed I sound, the truth is, Mei's arc is really expanded right now, she went through a lot of trauma, she holds a lot of pain, she was betrayed and used, she's not a sunny smiley sweet girl sidekick with sick dragon powers anymore. She's not someone who's gonna tease or joke with the only person who can help her with the mess she's forced to live with.
And Red Son on the other hand had his quite long now story of redemption, he's completely into supporting protagonists, even against his parents, even despite the fact protagonists literally used him, punched him, stole and wrecked his car right after he saved them and let them eat, drink and sleep in his house. We still don't know why is he doing all of this, completely selflessly and quite desperately tbh.
So whatever relation between these two will be, it visibly can't be slick and simple like their teasing-competing relationship from Spider Queen ep. They both have complex arcs now, it's hard to write their training plot as a 'buddies bonding time' thing or sth like that. They both know how serious is the situation, so their bond after 4 will be really deep and strong
Or the writers will make fun of them or put a lot of drama, I'll be mad if they make fun of my poor traumatized Mei and my selfless gold-hearted Red hero
i WISH we'll see some dragonfruit, but there is no love plot in lmk so far, and I know other cartoons directed by Sarah Harper (for example Glitch Tech), and she's not really into "let them kiss'' stuff XD however, I love her for the absolutely brilliantly created man-woman best friends tropes. Mk & Mei relationship is so purely natural friendship arc! So whatever she's up to with Red Son and Mei, I trust her it's gonna be good
Thank you so much for giving me an excuse to scream about my favorite animation. I'm always ready to write an essay about anything about this brilliant cartoon

*slides in with some LMK OCs* the base I used is here if you wanna use it,,,
Tumblr media
Meet Ren Lailing! (her dub name is probably something like Alix) They use any pronouns,,,, They used to guard a bunch of sacred cranes that could give you immortality if you ate them, but when a nearby village was hit by a dangerous sickness, she offered them the cranes so they could live on and prosper. Sadly, he defied death by doing this, and thus, the Underworld punished him by barring him from the gates, basically making Lailing immortal,,,
They usually try to look on the bright side of certain situations, always trying to lend a helping hand whenever they can. They're pretty damn chill would 100% recommend,,,
However, she's aware that her immortality is supposed to be a punishment for making others cheat death, so she's a lot more cautious around the God's and Ten Kings (the punishment could very well be making her wish that she was dead, and she doesn't want to spend the rest of her life in utter pain)
The whole immortality angst thing allowed them to bond with Wukong: they met him sometime after his journey and they became good friends, eventually joining him in Flower Fruit Mountain for the next 500 years after DBK's imprisonment. Cringe culture is over and I ship OCs X Canon as much as I like,,,,
Second outfit time :DD
Tumblr media
Like Wukong and MK, Lailing gets her own outfit changes in season three! She changes to fit their 'theme' more: red pants and some blue for the top,,,, Her circlet was intentionally made to be similar to Wukong's one, with the added bonus of a gem haha The bandages come from the LBD confrontation in the s2 finale: protecting her son MK used up all of her powers, so her healing factor isn't working for the time being,,,
Anyways I love her. I wish good things for her but I also want her to suffer,,
And all of those Possessed Wukong X S/O posts? Yeah that was done with Alix in mind,,,,,
Tumblr media
Outfit changes let's gooooo. Her hair is combined in her ribbons like some weird ass ponytail,,,, No LBD cannot get rid of the jacket. Lailing likes his jackets thank you very much,,, the lack of a gem on his circlet was very intentional, and his hair looks a lot more neater then it was before,,,, while Wukong acts as the fighter, LBD exploits Lailing's whole 'banned from dying' gig to make her a living shield. However, just like the s2 finale, overuse of their power does leave Lailing exhausted, giving the gang an opening for them to be unpossessed,,,,
Yes, after LBD is defeated her eye and leg fully heal,,, she’s totally fine and totally vibing /lies (she has now inherited the Monkey family way of handling traumatic situations: insisting that everything's fine and that she's okay when she's very much not,,) Noooo she and Wukong totally don't have dreams about their possession at the same time and when they both wake up they hold each sobbing noooooo
