When parents say ‘stand on your own feet’ they mean establishing oneself. But in real life when you stand and keep standing tall, along with walking, jumping, racing and what not, then your feet refuse to stand with you! As the most vital body part that holds up the entire body, we hardly give any attention to our feet. On top, with monsoons in full rage, our pair of feet is constantly facing the wrath of water-wading and mud. With our face attracting the lion’s share of attention, our feet tend to go down the drain! Well, it’s time to rethink and do justice to the much-neglected pair of feet! Time to put your feet up with Sacred Lotus care! The history of the Sacred Lotus goes read more...

“I have trouble rolling my "r's" in High Valyrian. But that turned out interesting since Aemond doesn't flower up this beautiful language. He uses the language more lethally. The Council meeting is very much a public shaming, but switching to High Valyrian allows Aegon to save face, since only the two brothers understand it. It allows Aegon to recover.”

"did you say good bye to her? say good bye now." - John Creasy
Tumblr media
John Creasy (Denzel Washington), a burned-out ex-CIA operative, takes a job as a bodyguard for a young girl, Pita Ramos (Dakota Fanning), in Mexico City. as Creasy bonds with Pita and begins to heal from his troubled past, tragedy strikes, and he sets out on a relentless path of vengeance to protect her and bring justice.
read my review below (may contain spoilers):

rewatched February 12th, 2024 on netflix
Tumblr media
I still remember when this movie came out, everyone talked about Dakota Fanning. she was so young but already had an amazing career. most child actors would play fun, cheery, light-hearted roles, but Dakota always dives into dark, serious themes. watching her share the screen with Denzel Washington here feels like watching two heavyweights. Denzel, of course, is a legend, no doubt about that. his performance here is intense, and I can see the pain, rage, and redemption in his eyes alone. it’s powerful. the plot is exactly what I’d expect from a revenge movie. at first, it starts slow, showing Creasy’s bond with Pita. then, it shifts into brutal, high-energy action. the drama is real, and the vengeance is high. but I have to say, I’ve seen many revenge movies before, so some parts feel repetitive. I understand Creasy’s mission, and I know he won’t stop, but I find myself losing focus during parts of the movie. the bad guys are bad, but I almost don’t care about them enough to stay fully invested.

one thing that stands out is Dakota Fanning’s performance. even at such a young age, she brings so much heart to this movie. there are moments where I can feel her emotions so clearly, it almost hurts. she’s innocent and full of life, and that adds a layer of depth to the story. without her, this movie would just be another action-packed revenge tale. she gives it heart and makes it more than just explosions and gunfights. I enjoyed the movie more the first time I watched it. it was intense and thrilling, and it kept me interested. but when I rewatched it, I realised it didn’t stay with me as much as I thought it would. it’s exciting in the moment, but it doesn’t leave a lasting impression. that being said, Man on Fire does a great job of delivering emotional drama and high-stakes action. it’s not just about the violence; it’s also about Creasy’s inner journey and how he finds purpose again. however, there’s something about it that doesn’t fully grab me. maybe it’s because the plot is predictable, or maybe it’s because I’ve seen similar stories before.

final verdict: I think it was okay/watchable

Rains are beautiful to look at only when you are indoors! But for people who have to step out for work, the ugly side of monsoon will always rear its head. You have to wade through waterlogging, muck and all the dirt floating around in the water. Your feet will be wet and mucky even if you take all rain coverage like raincoats and umbrellas. Simply put, there’s no escape from the rain! As the most vital body part that holds up our entire body, helps us stand straight and makes our posture correct, why should we care so little for our feet? With our face attracting the lion’s share of attention, should the feet go down the drain? Well, it’s time to rethink and do justice to the much-neglected pair of feet!
Watch the rain with your feet up. Sacred Lotus will do the hard work! The history of the Sacred Lotus goes back a long way. The mention of this unique blossom is mentioned in ancient scriptures across the globe and also in Indian Puranas, Vedas and all scriptures. The commonality remains across cultures that the Lotus (Nelumbo Nucifera) held the secret of health, beauty and longevity. Be it in India or China it is categorically stated that Buddhist monks cherished this Sacred Lotus Flower. They cultivated Lotus blossoms in the rivers and believed it held the secret of life. They taught their disciples that the universe was formed from the heart of the Lotus Seed. And after thousands of years, we are compelled to believe that they were right.
Defy the age and face the rains, With the power of AGE-LESS.

Jack Winstanley and Jack Wheatley at MMFA:
On Monday, a federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the Trump administration to “immediately restore frozen funding,” claiming that the administration had violated his January 31 order to halt its freeze on spending appropriated by Congress. In response to this decision and a litany of other rulings against President Donald Trump’s actions, right-wing media figures and MAGA online influencers called on the Trump administration to defy the court orders, labelling the judges “unconstitutional” and “lawless,” and even calling for them to be impeached.
The Trump administration faces a number of legal barriers to its executive actions
On February 10, U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell issued an order for the Trump administration to “immediately restore frozen funding” after the White House failed to fully comply with his previous ruling. According to NBC News, McConnell issued the order after officials from 22 states “presented evidence” that “in some cases” the administration “continued to improperly freeze federal funds and refused to resume disbursement of appropriated federal funds” after McConnell’s January 31 court order blocking the administration’s funding freeze. [NBC News, 2/10/25; The Associated Press, 2/10/25]
Other judges have ruled against several of Trump’s actions, including decisions at least temporarily blocking the administration’s moves “restricting birthright citizenship, a buyout offer to federal workers who agree to resign by Sept. 30," and the transfer of three Venezuelan immigrants to Guantánamo Bay. On February 8, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer issued an order in New York barring Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency from accessing the Treasury Department’s payment systems. Another judge in Boston issued a February 10 order delaying Trump’s plan to offer resignation buyouts to tens of thousands of federal employees, and a separate federal court issued a February 9 order blocking the Trump administration from sending three Venezuelan immigrants being held in New Mexico to the Guantánamo Bay detention center in Cuba. [USA Today, 2/10/25; Politico, 2/8/25; ABC News, 2/10/25; CBS News, 2/10/25]
On February 9, Vice President JD Vance posted, “If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal. If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that's also illegal. Judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power.” [Twitter/X, 2/9/25]
For years, right-wing media have repeatedly taken aim at judges overseeing cases across the country involving Trump. Conservative figures previously railed against judges in cases about Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, his New York hush money trial, and his civil fraud trial. [Media Matters, 5/30/24, 11/1/23, 5/28/24, 1/30/24]
Right-wing media throw temper tantrums over judges halting the Trump Regime’s harmful and un-American policies, with suggestions to defy such orders and/or calls to impeach or arrest such judges.
