📑 St. Peter and you had a mutual understanding, children was something you wanted to handle later on

📑 When you did eventually bring the conversation back up, St. Peter just smiled and held your hands in his as he said he had a surprise for you that he thought you’d enjoy

📑 As he covered you eye with a bandanna, your husband brought you down your home’s hallway and opened and door before you heard his wings flap nervously and he tore the fabric away from your eyes

📑 Your eyes widened as you looked at the small nursery, it was colored a pastel yellow with tiny pastel flowers along the bottom and tiny things of honeycomb with bees flying around. And right above the crib was a tiny cot mobile themed with books and bees

" Oh my god… it’s- it’s perfect, my dear. Thank you so much… "

📑 When you and St. Peter talked a bit more on the topic, you guys did eventually conceive a baby, one that you would later identify as your baby boy

📑 Your time in childbirth was magical for St. Peter, as he was nervously pacing and screaming as you practically squashed his hand in your grip. How were you not a warrior angel?!

📑 He had awoken in the chair next to your bed with a glass of water and a couple pills next to the glass. But he ignored it and looked over at you, who was asleep and holding your baby boy

📑 When you awoke, St. Peter pledged the name Favus, which in Latin meant Honeycomb. And when you looked at your son’s tiny light yellow bee wings, you smiled and kissed your husband’s cheek, saying it was perfect

📑 Your husband and son bond so much as he ages. While St. Peter is normally busy with things at Heaven’s Gates, he always takes time to be around his family

📑 He adores to teach your son how to sing. Singing is something that he is spectacular at, so he would love it if his son bonded with him on that

🍎 Charlie and the rest of the Hotel were beyond happy for you guys when it was announced you were having your first born son, hell, even Alastor hugged you and handed you a small deer leather slippers, he even made sure they were extra soft for you

🍎 Lucifer just hugged you from behind as Charlie pulled everyone into a group hug, crying about how happy she was to have a baby brother coming into Hell, and she said she couldn’t wait to see how adorable he looked

🍎 When your son did finally come out and looked into his father and mother’s eyes, you guys knew how right Charlie was. He was beyond cute

🍎 His tiny yellow and red eyes, red cheeks, and yellow-tinted ‘hair’ that he inherited from his father while tiny fluttering wings, a slightly long tail similar to the Goetia family’s, and a small beak with feathers for hair that came from you just made him so sweet looking, as if he belonged in Heaven with the rest of the Morningstar family

🍎 As Anaticula aged, it was apparent how much like his father he was. He was very silly and talented despite his immense power from his fallen-angel parents

🍎 By the way, his first words are most likely something related to redemption or ducks, since Charlie and Lucifer ramble about the two topic quite often

Summary— My own little take on how Liv ended up working for SVU. I know the story with Karen and the two year old, but in this AU, Reader is Liv’s first partner and this case causes her to move to SVU.

It seemed to all have been arranged–Olivia sensed this when she finally entered her apartment that night and closed the door behind her. Looking back, it all made sense now. How could they have missed it?

A week ago, Olivia and you her partner had walked onto the fresh crime scene. You specialized in homicide cases, and this case was a homicide if they had ever seen one. Olivia blew into her gloves, sliding them onto her hands one at a time, as she walked into the kitchen where the body lay. She still was not completely used to the sight of a body, especially a girl as young as this one was, so she took a moment for some deep breaths, before she drew reality back into her head.

“Female vic, Ellie Paige, 17, shot in the head… Jesus…” You sighed, rubbing your forehead and staring at the splattered blood and then the body.

It wasn’t everyday that you two found a seventeen year old dead in a kitchen. Although it did happen more than you or Olivia would have liked. The girl was on her back, face up, with a singular bullet to the head. Blood was spilt across the floor and splattered across the cabinets from the shot. But something about this particular case got to both detectives.

“Time of death?” Olivia breathed out a question to the coronary who was standing near the dead girl’s body.

“In between 1 and 3am…” they responded.

“Mom a Katherine Paige is in the bedroom, apparently hysterical.” You spoke out, looking to Olivia, “Liv, they waited for us to interview her.”

Olivia nodded, looking around the room once more, before following you into the adjoining room. In the main bedroom, there were two techs trying to calm an older woman down. The mother. You swiftly excused the techs, as Liv approached the woman.

“Ms. Paige. I’m Detetive Olivia Benson, and this is my partner Detective Y/N L/N. We are here to take your statement. Can you please tell us what happened?”

The woman’s hands were flailing and shaking as she paced back and forth. At the sound of Olivia’s voice, the woman stopped in her tracks and suddenly met Liv’s gaze.

“I don't, I don't understand… I don’t understand…!” Ms. Paige exclaimed, “I… my daughter, Oh God my daughter!!”

The mother then proceeded to break down, and Olivia was swift to grab her before she fell to the floor. She continued to ramble.

“Hey, let's get her out of here. Take her to the precinct…” You murmured lowly for only Liv to hear as you nudged her lightly.

Olivia looked up at you and nodded, proceeding to get up and guide Ms. Paige through the room, past the kitchen, and out the door. After she successfully got the woman in their patrol car, the ride to the precinct was rather smooth.

Both detectives made sure that the woman was comfortable, placing her in the family room at the precinct, a colorful and bright room, designated for family interviews. Olivia sat with the woman on a couch, while you watched on the opposing side of the mirror window.

“Ms. Paige, I know this is hard… But can you do your best to try and tell me what happened…? What is the last thing you remember?” Olivia gently prompted the woman, after letting the woman calm down a bit.

“I… I remember going to bed… I was really tired…” the woman stammered.

The young brunette detective squeezed Ms. Paige’s hands with her own in reassurance.

“That’s good, really good. What is the last thing you remember about Ellie?”

“Ellie… Oh Ellie… I… I remember Ellie doing the dishes…” The woman stammered in response.

You watched your partner continue the interview with a similar pattern of responses. Meanwhile, you began to look over the current files of the case. When Olivia was finished had let Ms. Paige go for the night, she came back to her desk across from you, who were quizzically looking at the case file.

“What’s up…?” Liv asked you, nudging you slightly along with her prompted words.

You were sucked back into reality from your thoughts, sucking in a breath before starting.

“Nothing I just…”

“You think the mom looks good for it…?” Olivia asked with a chuckle, accompanied by an eyeroll.

“Yea… Yeah I do.” You chuckled in response.

The young brunette sat in her desk chair and sighed.

“It is convenient that she doesn’t remember anything…” Olivia admitted.

Now that you had gotten your partner hooked on the theory, you lit up and started to present your case with gleaming and intrigued expression.

“Yes, and prints on the gun came back and guess who’s prints were on it…?” You said with a glimmer in his eyes.

“You already compared prints?” Olivia chuckled again when you nodded and hummed in response, “Ok ok, I’m going to guess the prints belong to the mom…”

“Bingo.”

“But she had no gunshot residue…” Liv sighed.

“Aha! But neither did the girl!” You exclaimed.

“Okay… But doesn’t that speak for a break-in?” Olivia questioned skeptically.

You shot your partner another quizzical look.

“A break-in where they only shot the girl, didn’t take anything, didn’t harm the mom, and they left the gun…? Nuh uh, I don’t think so…” you insisted.

“I don’t know… Something is off about this one…” Liv hummed.

“No signs of struggle on the girl. If she knew her attacker, she may not have put up as much of a fight…”

Liv sat back in her chair, in thought.

“What…?” You chuckled.

Two weeks later, the Katherine Paige was arrested for the murder of her daughter, Ellie Paige. But nonetheless, something didn’t sit right with Olivia.

“Benson, you’re still getting used to this job… it’s okay to be wrong. That’s part of working homicide, sometimes our theory’s turn out to be just that, theories.” You explained, looking across your desk to the young brunette.

Olivia still wasn’t convinced. Her gut told her it was something else. But she was forced to move on with her partner, go to the next homicide case.

That was until one of Ellie’s friends stepped into the precinct. She told the detectives a story about how Ellie’s mother abused her and how Ellie was suicidal. Olivia’s gut wrenched having to interview this girl, and by the time she met you on the other side of the glass, she wanted to throw up.

“Gotta hand it to you, now your theory has more credibility… maybe your gut was right.”

“How could a mother do that to her child…?” Liv breathed out.

You handed the young woman a cup of water. She took it gratefully.

The case was reevaluated and closed out, ruled a suicide. But it changed Olivia. And four weeks later, Benson was transferring to SVU.

I’ve seen some people try and defend Lore Olympus by saying that movies like Hercules and such aren’t accurate to Greek myth, yet they’re still loved. And I somewhat get where they’re coming from, i really do.

BUT- I feel like part of the problem with LO is the fact that if you replace the names, you’d almost be right to assume it takes place in a completely different setting. Meanwhile, if you take away the names from the Hercules movie, you can still tell where it’s supposed to take place. (And who’s who, if you know your myths). Plus the writing of Hercules is 100% better than LO.

The difference between LO and Hercules is that Hercules clearly has respect for the source material put into it. It might not be accurate to the source material - because it's being retooled as a Disney movie for children - but you can tell there's still a lot of thought, love, and effort put into it. The team behind that movie did research on the art and culture of Greece, and adapted it into a movie that was entertaining and recognizable as a Greek myth adaption.

They put our home boy Heracles/Hercules in a tunic! Do you know how shocking that must have looked to American viewers who didn't know a shred of Greek myth and wondered why the big buff hero was being drawn in a skirt? Still accurate though!

LO, meanwhile, writes Greek myth as if it hates Greek myth for existing. It comes across more as a white woman using these stories purely for profit and colonizing it with American-esque culture. The outfits have become noticeably less Greek since the beginning, the characters never eat Greek food anymore, and the locations are left as vague as solid color backdrops to indicate "The Underworld" and "Olympus" without actually showing any set pieces or understanding of how these locations would look and feel in a modern setting.

All of these examples I gave are things we saw a decent amount of in S1. But since then it's just become talking heads on top of flat color backgrounds, eating Chinese food and dressing in American-style clothing. When was the last time we saw a mortal? There's just nothing Greek about the comic anymore because either Rachel has gotten so complacent that she just defaults to what she knows without any research (so what she watches on TV and in movies) or she only bothered with her research in the beginning to get people hooked and convinced that she's a "folklorist" so that they'd keep reading the series and giving her money on good will alone.

Using Hercules as an example of "well it's not accurate to Greek myth either!" completely misses the point of what people are getting at when they say that LO is a bad Greek myth retelling. Guess what else isn't completely accurate to Greek myth? Hadestown. Hades (the game). God of War. Stray Gods. They all take creative liberties with the source material in order to adjust it to the medium and audience they're creating it for, but none of those adaptions are quite as disrespectful as LO's. And God of War literally has little angry man going around and brutally murdering the gods. It still respects the setting of Greek myth more than LO, but unlike LO, it doesn't try to constantly sound smart with its inaccuracies, it knows fully well that it's a video game first and foremost.

And that's the beauty of myths. They can be adapted across generations and used to tell new versions of the same stories. So it begs the question, why bother writing a Greek myth retelling if you're going to make it so non-Greek that you could have just as well just written a normal soap drama and have it still be virtually the same?

Compared to all of the other examples, LO is the definition of confidently incorrect. It should have stuck to just being Greek myth inspired, not a retelling.

this episode feels so final, in a way. there is before this episode and after it, and there is no going back. and we have had plenty of those episodes that involve a shedding of innocence, but we’ll reach a point where you think, surely it cannot get worse than this. and you’ll never guess what happens next: somehow, it does.

sniffs. scully always chooses love, bro. and mulder chooses her and therefore chooses love. and they choose each other. and they deserve to be happy, to be a happy little family.

take me back to around 14 hours ago, when i pressed play on this episode immediately after watching the previous one, not even bothering to make this writeup until now, because i was too invested:

is she looking at death itself??? again?? how many times must this happen??? is SHE death itself???

she picks up her necklace… and declares herself alone, as ever. but you're not alone, scully!

mulder, please come and provide emotional support if nothing else. you are desperately needed

YES, HE IS HERE!!!!!! he is watching scully watch emily color. 

OHHHH MY GOD. hold on. she introduces him to emily as her friend, and he immediately is making funny faces to get emily to laugh. stop. i need to be sedated.

he notices her cross necklace on emily. and he doesn't say anything but he doesn't need to, because that says enough. the cross that hung from his neck when she was gone, returned to her as she returned to life, and now placed around the neck of this little girl.

he had frohike hack into the system to find her surrogate mother omg… frohike is an ally… her birth mother is named anna fugazzi…. fugazzi is a slang term for fake??? he thinks they made a whole fake profile to hide her origins??

oh my god….

mulder is telling her that being around emily is incredibly dangerous; whoever it was that killed her adoptive parents would clearly go after her next. “i can protect her, too” “yeah, but who’s gonna protect you?” <- PLEASE KILL ME IT WOULD HURT LESS

“i’ve considered that, but i‘ve also considered that there’s only one right thing to do” <- ohhh, scully and her Need to do the Morally Correct Thing……… it’ll haunt me forever. she's willing to drop everything she has in her life to give this child a better life. and she didn't even knew she existed until a few days ago.

man, i miss s1 sometimes. bitch take me back…

HE CAME TO TESTIFY AT HER HEARING TO ADOPT HER??? and he says he shouldn’t have come because he doesn’t want to see her hurt like emily's adoptive parents were 😭😭😭 but he did. because he supports her through anything. and he knows that this poor little girl was never supposed to happen.

this man is nervously cracking sunflower seeds outside the hearing room. and bill is glaring at mulder like he didn’t just fly down here to save the day. fuck him for real.

oh, this judge guy is immediately tearing into his facts about the abduction. this never stops happening to mulder when he presents his theories. it must be getting old.

she was gone for four weeks when she was abducted. did we ever know the length of time?? huh. not sure if i picked up on that if we did.

he cannot explain to this guy why anyone would do this to scully and put the child up for adoption, but that is her child!!

“not in any legal definition” “well, if you can show me a precedent for this case, i’d like to see it” <- ohhhh tell him!!!

ohhh my god... “dana has known for quite some time that she can’t bear children. she hasn’t known why. now, however that happened, the fact that she can adopt this child- her own flesh and blood- is something i don’t feel i have the right to question, and i don’t believe anybody has the right to stand in the way of” <- that is best friendship. they love each other so terribly. terrible in the sense of a storm, or a natural disaster, in the sense of love being a force

oh my god man hold on. hold on. so had they talked about it before?? how she couldn't have kids?? and did he tell her why?? i don't think he did, because she is looking on at him with such horror as he shares these facts

there is such a terrible feeling of never being able to go back to before associated with all of this…

mulder is at bill’s house now, fidgeting with their nativity, while scully descends from the stairs. she was helping tara get into bed. oh my god. she loves her family so much.

OHHH the big reveal: “why didn’t you tell me? mulder?” “i never expected this. i thought i was protecting you” <- so she never knew that he knew… which is why she looked so horrified when she heard him say that to the judge…

he thought he was keeping her safe??? because he must have known that these people were willing to kill to keep their experiments in order. it reminds me of when he was at the evil honey farm and the alien said the clone children don't need parents....... the utter lack of humanity...

he says he knew children were being created, but not for who or for what purpose. :(

she gets a call, seemingly with no one on the other end, and with one look he has his phone on him, calling to get it traced. their ability to communicate without language is fascinating. within seconds, he has the location

it’s the children’s center where emily’s being held!!!

so is it still the ghost of melissa calling them somehow?? or is there an informer in there???

they’re at the door of the children's center right away!!!! is someone going to hurt emily????? they barge right in despite it being the middle of the night

emily’s in bed, with a horrific fever. mulder picks her up (oh my god, this made me feel terriblly emotional things) and he notices there is something on her neck.

IT IS A TERRIBLE GREEN POISON LUMPY THING?????

the doctor says there is some kind of infection, and they’re having the thing on her neck biopsied.

there’s an awful pause as they're standing outside the hospital room, and he asks if they are the parents…. mulder steps to the side and lets her say that she is the mother, which is so insane to hear, while mulder watches, terribly worried. 

he watches as they’re about to cut the thing on her neck…. but he realizes it is the green alien blood (which he can see, so NOT red/green colorblind) and starts banging on the door, telling the doctor to get away!!! but she doesn’t listen!!! the doctor collapses right then and there from the exposure to the alien blood gas, while they look on in horror. 

so emily is one of the alien hybrid children... i had thought that those were all clones, but i guess there are some unique ones as well. or maybe the ones we have seen in the past all shape-shift to look the same? CSM, this is your fault. evil has a face and a name and he writes bad fiction.

emily is on a mild sedative, and the ER doctor somehow made it. scully asks mulder how he knew what was going on, and he says he had the doctor put in an ice bath like she did when he was exposed :( he remembered.... :(

the dr. calderon that emily was seeing before refuses to transfer her information over!!! and says that scully has no authority over this child!!!! he is straight up willing to let her die.

she refuses to leave her. 

mulder is sent instead to interrogate him; he asks what he can say to convince dr. calderon to convince him to transfer the files over. but dr. calderon says it’s about business reasons. mulder asks how much money is worth letting this child die.

OHHHHHH HE IS THROWING HANDS….. 

holy fuck, i need a moment. he calls calderon and his team "medical rapists", a term i was previously unfamiliar with, and says now they’re just going to let her DIE??? AND HE PULLS OUT A GUN???

“why don’t you tell me whose life is worth saving, yours or hers!!” <- DAMN!!!

mulder is willing to kill for scully and that baby she just learned existed... i need a moment

he only puts his gun away because the police are at the door… but he’s gonna follow him. 

meanwhile, emily is watching cartoons while scully is in scrubs. she wants to talk to emily… she’s explaining that she has to do some tests. "mommy said no more tests" <- now what does that mean?

they insert the child into the machine. poor scully watches.

god, scully must feel so strange at the moment. and she gets flashbacks to her abduction from hearing the MRI machine beeping….

dr. calderon is running into a fancy gated home. and the other men who were watching scully before are here!!!!! 

OH MY GOD???? THEY STABBED THE DOCTOR'S NECK WITH THE NEEDLE, AND THE GREEN GAS CAME OUT???

and the other one morphed into calderon??? SO THEY’RE THE ALIENS????

but mulder is here……..

(i’m torn between genuine devastation and the sheer absurdity of this plot)

back at the hospital, we learn emily has some sort of infection into her brain that is expanding along her nervous system

and the guy who is pretending to be calderon is here!!!

scully and the real doctor are talking medicine, what can and cannot be done for her.

NO WHAT? THE ALIEN THAT TOOK CALDERON'S FACE IS HERE WITH THE NEEDLE GAS STUFF??? he just left emily's room……

scully's going after this guy, but he switches faces the minute they catch him!!!!!

mulder is still tailing the people from the pharmaceutical company. he tells scully he doesn’t think they want emily dead either, but for different reasons… they want their experiment to work, i assume is what he implies, but he hangs up then to go do some more tailing.

detective kresge is here!!!! scully tells him she thinks these men killed emily's adoptive parents because they stopped doing the tests!!! and that must be why that mysterious man came in to see her!!!!

i’m ready to see some heads roll over this whole matter. 

mulder lets himself into the weird huge gated house he saw dr. calderon go into, which seems to be an nursing home, with a label on a shelf for a. fuggazi. she’s a real person???? and she’s 71 years old???

but now emily is getting worse, with the growth spreading; it is killing her. the doctor says they should be grateful she isn’t in pain. 

chambliss shows up to tell scully that the court is freaked out that she’s making choices for emily, but she points out that she is “a medical doctor, and the decisions that i make are reasonable and right” and we know this to be true!!!

OHHHH MY GOD chambliss says that she has no authority, and scully says that if they take her out of the hospital, she will have it known that all of them are responsible for emily's worsening health…… holy fuck

“what do you want me to tell them you’re doing for her?” “i don’t know yet. but i will” <- she thinks there has to be hope…. :(

frohike is on the phone!!!! mulder is reading the names of the women in the nursing home, while frohike looks them up. and somehow they all gave birth to children in the last few years??? despite being 70+ years old????

and frohike wants to know if they are attractive. mulder says he might have a shot with these ones LMAO <- rare moment of levity in what may be the darkest fucking episode of all time

these elderly women are being prescribed estrogen and progesterone, which are in abundance in pregnant women……….

anna comes to mulder and says she wants to start her beauty sleep??? and it’s taken years off of her appearance??? do the aliens turn them young somehow??? and then use them to have children???

holy fuck. horrific commentary on the intersections of reproductive rights and elder abuse....

emily is now being inserted into a new tube for testing, with scully saying she will be right there the whole time. the air in the tube hurts emily's ears??? and makes her veins pop out??????? she is yelling at the doctor to stop running the test, but i don't even really understand what is going on, beyond that emily cannot handle it

mulder is still at the nursing home, where he finds a bunch of the old women in bed, attached to IVs with the hormones he mentioned earlier!!! so they get the IVs in their sleep and then they... no, it's too disturbing to even say

so he looks in the fridge and inside he finds some papers…. HUH???? it has scully’s name on them???? and inside is ANOTHER BABY IN A TUBE????

what the fuck??? this is messed up!!!!

he also finds vials of the green stuff that you use to kill the aliens!!!! but now the shapeshifting alien guy from before is here!!!! so he's running out with the vials!!! 

but detective kresge is here and stops mulder!!!!! IS THE DETECTIVE WORKING FOR THE ALIENS???

NO!! kresge is trying to keep him safe!!! the alien picks him up and tosses him like a rag doll!!!

but kresge gets up and shoots him despite mulder’s many warnings, so he hisses as his alien body releases that toxic green gas!! NO, KRESGE!! you were mean at first, but i grew to like you!!!

the alien takes kresge’s face and dips while mulder is trying to get backup!!!!!!!!!!!!

poor scully is watching emily through the window; she has gone into a coma. mulder suddenly arrives. but before mulder can say anything, she claims she’s okay. 

“but if you could treat her?” “i wouldn’t. i wouldn’t do it to her” “are you sure?” <- oh my god? is she going to take her off of life support? does she think it is wrong to keep her alive with no quality of life? we know she believes that in her own will... is she realizing there is nothing she can do? and why does she always lead with "i'm okay" when she isn't?

“mulder, whoever brought this child into this world didn’t intend to love her”

“i think she was born to serve an agenda” (a horrific thing for a human to be)

“i have a chance to stop that. you were right. this child was not meant to be”

but she is. she is here. and she doesn't have much longer.

he rubs her back and says he’ll stay with her. STOOOOOP

but she says she’d like to be alone. so he quietly walks away.

oh my god. he was going to stay with her while she watched her baby die... but she said she wanted to do it alone....... 

he still has that one vial of green stuff in his pocket, and pulls it out in the hallway. while she’s going in to presumable say goodbye. she lays her head next to emily, crawling into her bed. oh my god.

then we see a stained glass window of mary holding baby jesus while scully sits in a pew. maggie is here, asking if she’s ready. she tells her she’ll get a ride back with mulder. and she hugs her family, smiling at tara’s new baby, kissing him on the head.

there is a little casket, and scully stares at it as mulder comes in, laying flowers upon it. 

“who are the men who would create a life whose only hope is to die?” “i don’t know. but that you found her… and you had a chance to love her… maybe she was meant for that, too” <- oh my god??? oh my god.

“she found me” “so you could save her” <- and she did save her... she saved her from an unhappy home and unethical experiments and loved her in the week that she knew her, and let her go peacefully instead of suffering....

then she asks about kresge, who somehow made it, but the nursing home has been cleaned out, and no one else knew of calderon’s work. but there is evidence of what they did, she says, staring at the casket. 

she takes the flowers, lifts up the lid, and mulder turns around to give her space. but the casket is empty, except for the cross necklace. which she holds, closing her eyes. so they took her body, too???

the sand… the necklace… the opening scene… the parallels… i’m, like, blubbering as i type this

what the fuck!! who came up with this?? it is so fucked up and horrific and why. why. why. why did they make her undergo that and where do we go from here? no seriously, how is she going to just. clock into work the next day. not knowing she had a daughter except for a single week they had together and then she watched her die.

i honestly think scully is a saint because. if someone told me my autonomy had been taken and they made a baby out of me without my consent, i think i would be horrified and want nothing to do with the poor child. i would think, i have no relation to that little person. it was done without my knowledge, and how can i claim any connection to something i never knew?

(i mean, that is all i can imagine i would do; i know nothing of what it feels like to want or have or learn you have a baby. so keep that fact in mind if i don't fully grasp the weight of everything here. but believe me, what i am grasping is weighty enough)

but she said, i have a baby and i need to love her, because the option to make my own decision was denied, but i need to do the right thing. she just barrels in and loves her. no hesitation. and then she watches her die. 

and what the fuck?? from a writer’s perspective are they just trying to overtly comment on the lack of women’s healthcare?? because this hits different in the current political climate in a way they couldn’t have seen at the time. and i do feel somewhat inspired to write an essay on the subject. and using the elderly women as incubators... holy hell. it really speaks to the lack of agency women have over their own bodies and the terrifying nature of government intervention into women's healthcare...

mulder showing up right away to testify for her… scully being willing to throw her whole career away for a child she never knew she had… i need a few days and maybe a drink.

where do they go from this? how do you move on from learning you have a child, choosing to love it for the week you knew her, and then watching her die? how do you just go hunt bigfoot after that?

i feel like this show throws too many emotional punches and doesn't give us time to let the aftershocks sink in and the grief be processed. i hope that this time we get that chance.

and oh, how tender both of them were with emily... i just know that if they have kids, that child is going to be so loved... i am gonna cry at the thought. because we have always been able to see that mulder wants a family so desperately, but with scully it was more simmering under the surface until it boiled over, and now she knows what that feeling is like, but it was taken away from her and it can never come back, but maybe someday she can find happiness, and they can find happiness together, and raise a little kid who they can hold and carry and read books to and fuck i'm emotional!!!

i'm thinking about how even way back in season 1 we see them dealing with kids and the foreshadowing to this, this glimpse of what could have been in another life, but what isn't in this timeline. and how he was there for her while she waded through entirely incomprehensible emotions. and again i come back to the fact she chose to love this little girl despite having no knowledge of her.

and how they choose to find meaning in that week they knew her, with mulder telling her that she saved emily, that she let her experience love and happiness. to try and find any purpose to their inexplicably cosmic suffering.

Ep 45 spoilers

God the Close family breaks my heart yall.

This family is the most like relatable to me honestly like Glenn didn’t have a good example and tried his best which passed to Nick and all the close boys are so poor at being there for people. The insecurity of not being perfect people and just stepping away in hope you don’t taint what they have going on. God it’s so freakn sad, and common and hidden ahhhhh

*rattles my cage* The authenticity of this episode makes me crazy let’s ramble about it

“There is no fixing this. That this is as good as it is going to get. That you are stuck with eachother in the forms you are now.”

There’s no fixing not being there. Whether it’s just not being there emotionally for your kid or not being there at all. The tragedy of the lack of something is so powerful in this episode.

I really appreciate that we got to see the Stampler/Marlowe family first. The ones in healing and becoming emotionally available. The imperfect three who stuck around anyways and try their best. It’s not perfect it’s messy and complicated but at least it’s there it’s not missing. It can grow so easily and we see that with how Scary makes another memory with Terry Jr and Ron right there and adds to the pot. Ron started the breaking of the cycle and the other generations continue to stumble into healing and it’s great!

In contrast, we have the Close’s stuck in the cycle. Glenn didn’t have a good dad and as far as we know his mom wasn’t the greatest either. In s1 Bill seems to be in the same boat Glenn finds himself in this episode. In his mind he was a great dad. Seeing it through rose colored glasses. But then looking back without the nostalgia or the romanticism or just a plain ol “this is how it is” lense?? Seeing how the lack of being there the lack of vulnerability makes the whole relationship feel so empty???

Nicky gets to see this too even tho he hasn’t had as long to hold himself up he sees he’s making the same mistakes. He had Glenn around to continue to perpetuate the ideas.

Taylor is the first to point out the pattern. In some ways it’s good that he didn’t have Nicky growing up to reinforce the cycle. The way the ideas of how a father and son should be best friends and “just be cool guys” isn’t ingrained in Taylor like it was in Glenn or Nicky. Still we mourn the emptiness but Taylor can see the holes in the bucket and he speaks on it too. He opens up emotionally in a way Nicky and Glenn never have. Speaking the quiet part out loud.

All the close boys are so lonely. They’re isolated and insecure. The relationship is so empty.

And then to top it off with such a small, in my head only a few drops, of the daddy magic to add into the jar?

It’s beautiful. It’s tragic. It’s heartbreaking.

There just isn’t anything to add. What happened did. There is no time travel magic to make up for lost time. We aren’t going to get that back.

There’s a beautiful hopeful tragedy to find here. They can’t go back, there is no starting over. You can’t start over from so little.

They’re just starting from square one.

Part 2: The Dark side of Aziraphale

There was one that thing that struck me about the miracle working scene: why did Gabriel offer crossed hands to the duo?

Gabriel offers his right, his good, heavenly angel-sided hand to Crowley first, and his left, his sinister-sided demon hand to Aziraphale.

And this is NOT an accident.

Its been observed that Gabriel, in his amnesiac state like this, has reverted back to a more base-state angelic being, one of joy, and love, and curiosity. He's acting on instinct here.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying. The demon has more light in him than the angel, and Gabriel and can feel that instinctively. This really shouldn't be a surprise to us, its been in our face all along. Now don't get me wrong - Crowley is still a demon, and Aziraphale is still an angel, I'm not saying that they aren't. Mostly we talk about how Crowley isn't all that much of a demon at heart, just "going along with Hell as far as [he] can," but we don't really talk about much about that other side of Aziraphale other than wishing to see more of his BAMF! side.

You know what - its a side that thanks to all of the rest you ops and meta-ists out that that I've come to both fear and appreciate. And let me tell you, if I found myself in a dark alley on a bad night I would hope to God it was Crowley I bumped into , because I feel he would at least give me the choice to walk out alive. I don't think Aziraphale would, I would be at the mercy of how ever he decided he wanted to manipulate the situation...and I find that rather chilling.

Crowley might be the charred demon with a heart of gold, but Aziraphale is the two-sided bastard of an angel he loves. All bright light casts a shadow. Its easy for us to be blinded by the shining light of goodness and right and the side of God (er, hang on, isn't the GO God an eldritch horror in disguise...?) and not be able to see what is hiding behind it.

We rarely see the back of Aziraphale's waistcoat, because he is rarely seen without an overcoat on, a covering of social propriety. There is the noticeable occasion in S2E1 when Crowley comes back to do the apology dance then they perform the hiding miracle (see screenshot below, and it was still hard to chose a good angle for all it went on for several minutes!) and perhaps in S1 when he spends all night reading Agnes Nutter's book. Both times its only in the privacy of the book shop, under the cover of night. So its easy to miss that the color of the back panel is a most un-angelic color: a dark viridian green. I know I keep banging on about this, but its important, and in more ways than one.

[Edit: Since I first wrote this, I've written a mega-meta on all the colours in GO, and some of the following interpretation has changed a little - but the significance of the green still stands!]

All the angels wear some form of a pale colored neutral palette, ranging from white to beige to taupe (white, off-white shades and shades of brown,) with dove-grey for the known in-show seraphim, Gabriel, Michael, Uriel and Saraqael. Gold and blue are also associated with Heaven. But Aziraphale is the only angel to wear green and shades of blue-green. He's quite unique in that department.

The colors of Hell are completely different. Black, lots of black. And red, different shades of red. The demons are actually quite a colourful lot, but do tend towards the darker shades. Red is a colour of passion, not just a demonic colour, although it can be associated with the demonic sinister left hand side. The main colour of Hell is actually green - the thick green light that you almost of have to swim through in the crowded halls of Hell, and examples like the green stag on Furfur's sash. It represents chaos, in competition to the rigid lawful nature of Heaven.

So while Aziraphale mostly presents a socially acceptable angelic front, its telling only Crowley has properly glimpsed that dark, shady, bit-of-a-bastard unpredictable side to him - and likes it. (More from Cobragardens about it here in 1793 Paris and 1601 at the Globe.) I mean, come on - this is a being that sent a man to his death so he could go on lunch date? A lunch date he practically concocted just so he could see Crowley. wtf? A being of love who was about to shoot the Antichrist to stop Armageddon? A being who quietly and efficiently discouraged the mafia who threatened to set the book shop on fire from ever returning? (See, told you I didn't want to meet him a dark alley...) Plus we saw him mind-control a whole roomful of people for his Jane Austen-themed ball, just to woo his beloved demon, with no thought of the possible collateral damage. I'm sorry, is this the same "guardian angel" we were all glowing over earlier?

The coat lapel as wings theory adds some weight to this hidden dark side of Aziraphale as well. Aziraphale's lapels always point downwards, towards Hell. Particularly when he has been discorporated and returned to Heaven, where frustrated about being told he has to gear up for war, he instead wonders out loud if he can return to Earth to a possess a body, reasoning that if demons can, he must be able to as well. lmoa! You are so not an angel, my dear! Yet...he isn't a demon either. He's almost...a bit of both. Two sides to a coin. A blend of light and dark. Shades of grey...although he doesn't like to admit it.

what on earth back at you 😭 i was happy to read this. honestly i just started taking composition semi-seriously 2.5 years ago. my goal has always been to make cool backgrounds, dynamic but odd perspectives. i love odd & non-conventional angles SO MUCH.

my #1 inspiration for that & art in general is what environmental concept artists and designers do, they have such amazing range. World of Warcraft was my first exposure to it, especially BC & WotLK. Concept art, but playing through the areas was just as cool

Probably the only other foundational inspiration was Tower of God (manhwa) when i read it in 2011-2014... People shit on SIU's art skills in S1 but he very obviously didn't care and NEITHER DID I. He drew awkward angles and yes it looked OFF... but had beautiful color placement and set the right tone. IDK if he knew what he was doing but he always pulled it off. I loved that so bad. Ok and his background work & creativity never failed to impress me. I could go on long tangents abt ToG being a narrative / comic inspo as well, and about how similar SIU & Togashi are as authors, and how ToG's visuals got everything HxH has & is missing, but instead im gonna share some panels i skimmed for that i really love. but all his early panels are equally thoughtful

Here we go again, Hudson and Rex S01E01!

Okay, what is going on back there, the show has only just started lol

I forgot this show's only colors for S1 were blue and... blue. And some yellow.

Charlie in his suits. I could say I've missed it, but it gets old fast. You get more options with casual clothes.

Charlie verbally sparring with Mankiewicz is so good. I don't know why they didn't find more opportunities to get him back on the show, he's a good villain.

The part where Mankiewicz says Evelyn's name, I always thought that was intentional, judging by the way he looks up, like if he's waiting to see whether Charlie will pick up on it, which he does. He's probably judging his foe's intelligence.

Is it just me, or was John Reardon's voice even deeper in S1 (I remember I'd thought that before, it's not just this episode)? Or if not deeper, different somehow.

Rex displaying his intelligence as he "infiltrates" the bad guys' hideout. Also, I'm kinda curious about his screentime in this episode. If I'm right, it's significantly lower than other episodes.

I now remember than Kevin Hanchard had said he filmed all his scenes of S1 at the same time or something like that. I will be looking for hairstyle discrepancies lol

Hilariously, Sarah doesn't enter her lab once in the first episode.

I also do notice a not so subtle effort from direction/editing of making sure that Sarah gets in and out of the boat without Charlie's help, I guess they're making sure that Charlie is not doing any of chivalric things a man could do for his female coworker? He does later say that the perp should point the gun at him but it's after he's questioned from the woman herself and after Rex's timely takedown, Sarah is the one point the gun at the woman, while Charlie does the arrest.

I honestly never thought that episode was a good pilot, not because of the quality of the episode itself, I consider it above average for S1. But you give the audience the wrong idea about how this show is going to be. Personally, upon my first watch, I was given the impression that Rex would be alone doing his own thing quite often. Also, it doesn't give the audience almost anything in terms of Charlie and Rex's partnership. And they promoted this show with lines like "good detectives, great partners", etc., focused on the partnership, which is the whole point of the show from its origins anyway.

Prospera 2: Ruler of the Sea

For my initial Prospera and mythology analysis chk here

After a deeper look and another rewatch, I realized there's another god Prospera is harking to. Bear with me, I swear there's evidence. First off, let me start with the obvious. Shin Sei's corporate logo looks a bit like permet, but also clearly a trident and what seems to be a wave. Neptune.

Obviously, GWitch has nothing to do with water on the surface. But it is a Tempest adaptation with Prospera as the storm conjuring magician. Considering the intro with our leads floating in a Pisces formation and Elnora and Eri reinacting its mythological parallel in Prologue, Space = Water.

Delling may be the 'king' of Benerit, thus an easy Zeus parallel, but Prospera is the ruler of the sea. As she proves in her domination of S2.

Neptune isn't just the sea king, Neptune/Poseidon is Ennosigaios (Earthshaker). The cause of earthquakes, and the bringer of the great flood that destroyed all of life in Roman myth. Her havoc on Earth and in the 'sea' is demonstrative of this.

This also gives poignant weight to Earth House's symbolism as the dove that soars above the waves and returns with an olive branch to the Ark. Life restored to earth.

This was alluded to with the establishment of GUND-ARM in S1

For this parallel, Miorine is playing Athena/Minerva (which isn't hard to believe since she's both the princess of Strategy, coded with Wisdom repeatedly, and grey-eyed like the goddess) The myth of the establishment of Athens says Athena was in a competition with Poseidon to see who could give the most impressive gift to the people. Poseidon struck the ground and created (accounts vary) horses or a spring. Athena created the first olive tree. In the show, their competition leads to the establishment of the peace-bringing GUND-ARM

Another epithet of the sea lord is Kyanochetis (Blue or dark-haired) which could explain the reason for her change in coloring from the shining Elnora. And yet another is Hippios (of the Horses). Considering horses for this universe are mobile suits, Prospera as a horse lord is appropriate.

Now, the next bit is faily speculative but considering there's so much already indicating Prospera was affiliated with Notrette, I'm going to be a bit cursed.

Notrette is Anesidora, and firmly coded as the agricultural mother Demeter. Demeter, searching for her missing daughter, runs across Poseidon who lusts for her. She flees in the form of a mare and he pursues the goddess as a stallion. This results in two offspring; Despoina and Arion. Despoina's (The Mistress) true name was lost to history but Arion was the black or red-maned horse of Heracles. You can extrapolate this tale to Prospera 'defiling' Notrette's research/affiliation leading to QZ, uploading Aerial's biometric code, perhaps the creation of Suletta, and her use of Aerial.

There's likely more, and maybe when I rewatch again I'll spot it. But for now, it's definitive to me Prospera is intended as Neptune; God of the Seas and Storms in Roman tradition. It also gives more weight to her coding as Venus the morning star (the romans saw her as a sea diety because she was born of seafoam and linked to Neptune). Just when you thought Mama Char couldn't get more great and awe-inspiring~

First off, thank you so much! It's the best feeling ever knowing my art can make people happy just like that :]]

As for your question, I recently just rewatched a good chunk of S2 Part 2 but some of the details around the later bits are still fuzzy (rewatching em is quite hard for me as the english dubs aren't exactly that easy to find out there unfortunately)

I will say though, rewatching it really opened my eyes to just how much of a downgrade Part2 is compared to S1 and even just S2 Part1 itself, not just in story but in like the voice acting and animation. The voice direction is a bit off, characters sound flat, and the animation just feels... weirder, if that makes sense. It's not the worst thing in the world though, it's just an unfortunate thing I happen to notice. They also changed some of the VAs I think (liek Rema's) which was a strange decision but alright ig... There's also the reusing of so many games instead of new ones but oh well... Despite all my problems with it though, I like the inclusion of the new characters (Manus and all the other Leos Valiants). The Leos are all such silly guys :]] I do wish the DV7s got more screentime and played a bigger role though, the first episode for part2 really fooled me into thinking they would lmaoo

S2 Part1 still holds up, certainly not as good as S1 but still, it's got charm! I love the setting actually, Old City is such a bright and colorful place with like all these abstract and messed up winding pathways, it's so weird and funkyy, I dig it a lot!

So pretty!! God... just like how funky the cities look with all of them being like giant floating islands, it will always be cool af to me

Ik most of my followers don't care about runningman much but in the off chance some non-rma fan sees this, look at Tree City (pic below), I love it so much

Although... sometimes it really does feel like Season 2 is where the studio decided to lean more into it being a children's show. It's a lot less "dark" compared to S1 which is a tad disappointing. Like just compare Akong's battle (where the dude literally uses a bunch of the old guys to power up his thingy 😭) compared to CG's big mech fight. Still, I liked it! I like the neat guardians (the lil pullulu spirits who guard the gate, Vivace and Ensemble twins my beloved <3).

ALSO ALSO THE IRON BEAST, I can always appreciate a big robot guy aha

That's all I really got for the ramble aha, I'd say more stuff about S2 and maybe my views on it will change overtime but as of now, I haven't even really gotten around to properly finishing it yet. I remember watching it waaayyy back but it was all in korean with zero subtitles 😭 luckily, I am in a server with people sharing english versions so I'll probably watch those when I get more free time!

I really just miss talking about this show really and I feel like I've largely outgrown the fandom in old spaces where I used to talk in (like Facebook groups and Amino lmfaoo), so it's absolutely awesome to find RMA fans over here on tumblr!

After finally finding your summation of The Flash from S1-9 I have ANOTHER questions - what was it that annoyed you so much about the sudden multiple Forces?

Ooh good question! Honestly, the idea of introducing the Forces is a fascinating one, but…making them outright human was never an idea I was totally compelled by. Having them be Forces who took human form? Or humans who just had those powers but didn’t have to become godlike? Totally fine! But…the show went with a strange mix of both.

I really don’t like the increasing personification of the Speed Force in this season and beyond…and, by proxy, the personification of the other cosmic forces. It feels…diluting, in a sense, yk? You can’t be a cosmic force and also human. Cosmic forces should be beyond the constraints of humanity, that’s why they’re cosmic forces!

(Oh also? The show seems to equate “forces of nature” with “deities” pretty often from this point forward, which I also don’t like. Can y’all just pick one, they are different)

But it gets worse: this season made Barry and Iris be the Forces’ parents. No, I'm not kidding, this is a real thing they did! Joe is the one who first suggested it too!

Like…OH MY GOD, the utter weirdness of cosmic forces of nature calling these two “Mom” and “Dad”, and the show treating them like Westallen’s kids is just. I don’t even have the words to explain why that’s weird and disturbing.

(Never mind that Bart and Nora also appear this season!! Westallen's fr kids!!)

But I do have an egregious example: Speed Force Nora! The SF has been consistently taking Nora’s face for years now, which I didn’t have a problem with until this season. Because…again, this season was the start of personifying the Forces, and that means the SF taking Nora’s face is no longer a calculated decision but a…honestly borderline sadistic one?? Like wtf??

Also, Speed Force Nora throws tantrums, has a whole identity crisis (so do the other Forces, but at least they’re human at first and grow into their borderline-deity status as the season goes on, so them having a crisis is understandable), tries to kill the rest of the Forces out of jealousy but also doesn’t want to be alone (girl, YOU ARE THE ONE TRYING TO KILL THEM!)…and then on top of that, she calls Barry Dad (while wearing his mother's face!!), like…it’s just so bizarre. I can’t even.

(Don’t even get me started on the Negative Forces bs. The show changing the Negative Speed Force from Thawne’s artificial creation to an intrinsic part of the universe (and also changing its color to blue for some reason) is just so dumb. How do you miss the point of your own best villain that badly omg)

Nancy Drew Rewatch 105: The Case of The Wayward Spirit

(or the one where everyone is serving looks)

Okay so we're back to more plotty episodes, and I am glad for it, though I did appreciate the last two very character driven episodes.

This episode features two new characters (well I guess one is on their second episode), neither of which made it past s1, neither of which I like.

I have discussed how Owen is....fine. He is...present. He was...on this show. That is really the most complimentary thing I can say about Owen, otherwise he's just kinda....Generic Man #3.

Laura. God, I actively dislike Laura. I get her motivations, but she constantly manipulates Ace, she disrespects what Tiffany wanted and she is just generally annoying and intolerable, and I can't wait for her to leave.

From episode 3's MVP of Tunji Kasim, Leah Lewis and Alex Saxon share the spotlight this episode.

But big praise for Leah Lewis. You cannot say she doesn't commit to a posession arc.

A deep, profound sigh that I will have to contend with like 10+ episodes of Nick/Nancy and Nancy/Owen scenes to come. I swear it's not a Nace thing but it's just so....yeah.

Speaking of Nace, we get some classic baby Nace "no personal space" scenes this episode, along with some extended gazes. I can see why some started shipping them here.

Also shout outs to Alex Saxon. They really seem to be noticeably upping his scenes, and he is excellent comic relief. One of my fave Ace lines:

But also the way they slowly unfold the mystery is SO GOOD and I am almost going to be disappointed when the two main murders are solved.
