No-one really stands out to me as having iPhone face honestly? That said, I'm usually too taken out by either the bad subtitles or the costume choices (some of which do look like you would see someone wearing them now) to really notice.

Oh, so sweet ♥️ ... many thanks for asking, and your kindness!

I think I'm nearly recovered, but I still struggle with fatigue and sometimes shortness of breath during my daily routine. I was positive with Covid over two (!) weeks in November ... can you believe that? It felt like losing my mind! 😵‍💫

Besides, the long caring for my Mum at home, the worsening of her health condition in July/August, and finally, the painful process of realization that I'm no longer able to continue that way without going to pieces has already made me feel drained ... long before Covid put the icing on the cake.

Anyway, I'm feeling much better now and my mum, too. 😊 So, I look forward to celebrating Christmas with Mum in her beautiful new home where she's tenderly cared for! 🎄🥰

Yup, there's a lot that's great, but the contrast between his threatening tap on the weapons panel (I think improvised by Shatner?) and his understated manner as he gives Stiles enough rope to hang himself really creates that sense of palpable tension (the "Repeat it" could be more aggressive but is scarier because it's not). I also love the little delay with Uhura that just lets the tension rise further before Kirk emanates enough menace to get scare chords.

Ooh, thank you! That's a fantastic compliment, because the sheer menace underpinning Kirk's reactions is one of my favorite Shatner performances ever, and Nimoy's performance of Spock being quietly upset and then o_O at the whole thing is also one of my favorite TOS performances. So that's what I wanted to get across!

The whole thing is packed within one of the finest TOS episodes IMO, narratively and artistically, so I'd really recommend the whole thing! But this is the original scene:

last tv show: Severance S02E01. I'm actually excited for this show. Season 1 was so good and ended on an amazing cliffhanger like old shows from the 90s on network TV used to.

sweet/spicy/savory: Savory, generally, spicy when it's Korean, and sweet more often than I'd like. I think I really like savory the most though. Especially sardines and pate and Marmite and things most white Anglo-Americans find strange.

My favorite Star Trek AUs at this moment, which I can sometimes come across in fanfiction and sometimes not, but they still work pretty well in my imagination:

Perhaps the most relevant today and the most personal for me, War AU. Mostly AOS, because yes, this universe resonates more sharply with our present. In fact, it can be any situation where things are going worse than they should be, Starfleet is not ideal, and the present is far from utopian. And it's very Star Trek, really, because what is it about if not that people should be better, that having power means using it with mind and heart, that innocents should not suffer, that war is only pain and destruction, and there are no winners. It requires good worldbuilding and a strong plot, but if it works, it works like nothing else.

f!Kirk & f!Spock TOS AU. What if in the 60s, when TOS was filmed, both main characters were female? How do you retell the story of TOS in this light, when it's still impossible to imagine a woman captaining a ship, when the rules of scriptwriting are still governed by misogyny and homophobia? How do you retell this story in a way that will forever change the lives of people who watched the show in the '60s, as the original series did? But I prefer to leave McCoy unchanged, as well as the rest of the main cast.

Modern high school/college/university AOS AU Spock is autistic, Jim is ADHD, both have childhood traumas behind them that they are trying to cope with. I like this idea because of its everydayness, its familiarity, and how supportive it can be told.

1950s academic murder mystery TOS AU. This idea from @missanthropicprinciple and I was TOTALLY IN LOVE when I found it, I want to read it; this reminds me of classic Nancy Drew, and I miss that vibe.

1930s noir detective TOS AU. Honestly, TOS feels great in retro and in the detective genre.

Vulcan before Surak AOS AU. In the middle of the battlefield, on the blood-slicked ground, in deafening silence, they look into each other's eyes. Before Spock and Kirk met aboard the Enterprise, their fates had already been intertwined countless times, dating back to ancient times. A poetic retelling of the story of Alexander the Great, perhaps?
