WIP Wednesday
Tales of Wolves and Dragons ( continuation of Two of us)
Chapter name; A Queen and a King
Robb x Daenerys
“ King Robb, your grace” Ser Jorah announced as he opened the entrance to her tent.
Daenerys smiled standing from her table, Misandei taking a step back from where she stood arranging the queen's hair and smiling at the couple.
“Your grace,” she teased doing a small curtsey, a glint of mischief.
“Your grace,” Robb chuckles and bows before offering his hand to her. Daenerys takes his hand and he pulls her close to him placing a delicate kiss on her lips.
“We will be outside your grace,” Missandei interrupts them, giggling, as she ushers Ser Jorah and sees herself out.
“Quite early to see you around my lord,” she teases as she goes to sit to continue making her hair.
“ I wished to speak with you,” Robb said following her and sitting in front of her, Daenerys looked at him confused but they were both distracted as they heard the shuffling of the tent, and Greywind trots to them, humuring them.
“What do you wish to speak of ?” she asks unsure noticing Robbs's stiff demeanor.
“ I have called a meeting with the Lords and I have asked Sir Barristan to gather your most trusted Unsullied as well as the Blood riders,” Robb explained while petting Greywind calming some of his nerves.

Hair discourse: GRRM makes a big deal out of Catelyn’s and Sansa’s hair. And the Lannister’s. Actually, 🤔 everybody else’s too. TargARYEN hair, Tully hair. Snowhite Jon and his Stark hair that concealed his identity. Ygritte’s hair in connection to both Arya and Sansa.
On a side note, does anyone else remembers the stans were pressed during season 8 because Misandei wasn’t around anymore to braid Dany’s ridiculous hair?? Truly they had their priorities straight 🤡
I do remember those comments about Missandei. This fandom is truly sick sometimes. D&D really contributed to the horrible treatment of her by the fandom when they didn’t allow her to realize what Dany was and choose to leave her/return home. That’s the ending she should have gotten rather than getting killed to “justify” Dany’s murderous rampage that was seasons in the making. Infuriating.
Martin really does have a thing with hair! It comes up a lot and he uses it in multiple ways. I talked about Sansa’s hair a little over here, and think a lot more could be said with a closer inspection of how it comes up throughout the series. It connects to her mother/identity/reclaiming the North...it’s really interesting how seemingly inconsequential things have such importance in Martin’s world.
Also, I love your “snow white” Jon comment. lmao! I just read this, and my brain immediately went to Jon/Snow White:
One day in winter, the girl’s foster-father was skinning a milk-fed calf on the snow outside, to cook it for her. She saw a raven drinking the blood on the snow. She said to Leborcham:
‘I could desire a man who had those three colors there: hair like the raven, cheeks like blood, and his body like snow.’
(from The Exile of the Sons of Uisliu, link)
Lot’s of interesting ASOIAF-y things in that story!
#i know we've talked about the jon snow white thing before but can't find those posts rn. i love it tho!#sorry for the late response anon!#jon snow white#dot chat#< for filtering

Hear me out. 08×04 was good.
Ripped our hearts out at points. But life isn't fair, and GOT was never meant to be fair either.
On Jon + Ghost
Yes. Maddening. How could Jon leave Ghost behind?
But guys. That shot of Jon walking away was a shot of Sam and Gilly, Tormund, Ghost, and Winterfell. It was a shot that sums up who Jon has been all his life. It is a metaphor for him walking away and leaving this pasr behind.
With all the behind-the-scenes pressure on Jon (Varys wants him to be King, Sansa conspires for this as well, Arya does not trust his Queen, darker Dany implications), obviously he will have to make some crucial decisions. And I think, he will do what he thinks is right, he will despise the idea of power even further, and will return to the North. Like Ghost, he does not belong to the South. The seemingly careless goodbye is a metaphor of him abandoning who he is, only to return where he truly belongs.
And that's Jon's arc now. His war is over, and he will decide who he is. Stark or Targaryen or Snow? Ruler or warrior? Etc.
On Missandei
Heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking. She was good and loyal to the very end and brave and deserved better.
Unfortunately, life does not give us what we deserve and neither does GOT. At this point, it makes sense that Cersei would take someone Dany cares about. It makes sense that she would kill her. It was, truly, awful and painful, but not untrue to the story. And that's all that is to be said.
On Jaimie and Brienne
I know. When they got together I swear my heart was racing. And when Jaimie left I was like... what the hell.
But it makes sense. Jaimie, as much as we love him, has done some inherently unforgivable things. His fate has always been tied to Cersei. But he isn't going to save her now. Not this time.
It's not clear to us yet what his intentions are. Is he going there just because their fates are tied? Is he going there to save her? Is he going there without really knowing why?
Either way, Jaimie now knows what man he wants to be. He's already left Cersei when he saw who she was. He also knows who he is.
I am firm in my belief that Jaimie will kill Cersei. Yes, I think he will die; he leave the world as he reached it, with Cersei, but finally free of her influence. Not a good man, because he is not. Not a bad man, because he is not that either.
Jaimie's story has been about freeing himself from Cersei; he does this by fulfilling the valonqar prophecy. Brienne could not have her happy ending with him for this to happen as much as she deserved better. And it makes their stories (Jaimie's redemption and Brienne's true love and abolition of black-and-white morals) all the more tragically and heartbreakingly beautiful.
On Cersei
This. Was. Peak. Cersei.
The smart evil queen we love to hate, who knew Dany would go to Dragonstone, took down one of her dragons, and then her entire flee. Because she is smart. This is the strategy GOT was missing in battle.
On Dany
Ok. I've talked about this before. I knew she was going to go dark. And you know what? I love that they are not fucking up her arc by not doing it or by doing it in a black and white sort of way. Doing it like this is an unseen plot twist: a character poised to be the protagonist becoming someone she never wanted to become.
And the best part is you can feel for Dany. She does have a good heart. She is charismatic. As great as Jon, if not better, because not only she inspires love and rides dragons, she birthed them while she had nothing.
And now, no one appreciates this. Nor do they give her enough credit for the battle against the WW. On top of this, the one thing she wants her entire life is threatened by the man she loves. The only one she has left, as well: Dany is left alone, without those who have been with her forever. With 2 dead children, Jorah and Misandei gone.
It is not an excuse per se. But you see where she is coming from. You are tempted to excuse her. You can't hate her. This is tragic. Because you can see how Misandei's Dracarys can haunt her. And even if it will mean the death of innocents, I can imagine many good people still saying it, because this is how much they loved and fought.
That is peak GOT. Complex arcs. Tragic arcs. Villains you can understand: villains who were never meant to be or wanted to be villains. Not just "mad". That would be boring af.
Tyrion and Varys
Ok. FINALLY some good dialogue. FINALLY some ethical discussions. Who deserves power? How far should you go to ensure the right person is on the throne? Missed you, Game of Thrones.
(Also. Tyrion. Never wanted power. Always accepted sitting on the sidelines to correct other people's fuck ups, but always with good itnentions. If Jon doesn't want the throne, could Tyrion get it? If there's a throne at the end of this.)
Sansa, caring about her family but playing the game, because this is how she's learnt to survive.
She has not hesitated to do what she thinks is right to protect her home the same way she did not in the Battle of the Bastards. And if it means playing the game behind Jon's back... well. This is who she is. A player of the game, who knows all too well what happens if you fight with honour.
Arya turning down being a wife at a castle, because this really is not who she is.
The Hound and Arya marching to KL to finish business. Because Arya is capable of love, but, from the very start, has never been one to settle down. And this has not changed yet. As she said to Ned in s1, that is not her. As she said to Nymeria, that is not her.
Guys. This was an episode loyal to character development. It was not fan service. It was nothing like episode 2/3. And I liked it. Because these arcs make sense, even if they are painful. And we cannot blame GOT for being this show, because we did not love it for bringing our ships together or for being nice to our favs or anything like that. We loved it for being realistic and painful and complex. And that's what this episode was, and I loved it for it.

Does anyone remember a fic where dany is a single mom of triplets( drogon ,Rhaegon and viserion) she is friends with Margaery ( and Robb, her boyfriend) Maya and Misandei. She works with Tyrion as a paralegal or Assistante.
Jon moves from winterfell to work at a school as a teacher, I think he moves with robb or Sam. He meets dany through Robb and and they don’t start dating till later ( is a true slowburn) but once they start dating Jon gets stabbed by one of his students
The last I remember of the fic dany was pregnant and Jon was recovering! Oh wait shut maybe it was that they went to winterfell to spend the holidays over there and Margaery and Robb are engaged also Robb was an as and basically dipped leaving Sansa in charge
Anyone know what fic I’m talking about?

One of the things I am still angry about is that Game of Thrones gave us a bunch of strong female characters and then systematically plucked the feminism out of the story (the only strong female characters in the show are the ones who died while still on GRRM's timeline, RIP Ygritte & Catelyn). Meera Reed dragged a boy all over the world so he could become king and then politely disappeared so we wouldn't ask where she went. Sansa Stark needed to be raped to become a Queen. Cersei suddenly can't face death without blubbering like a child (her book walk of shame and the way she refused to let them see her flinch or cry was the first time I ever identified with Cersei, but damn did I suddenly want to root for her-- the show took that strength away from here even then). Brienne wrote herself out of her own story. Gilly isn't counted in the number of people who know Jon's heritage, even though she was the one who found it. Misandei died as a plot device. Alys Karstark died off screen. Arya and Brienne both believe that you can't be both a fighter/explorer and a lady-- both choose to not be ladies. Don't get me wrong, loads of men-folk had disappointing story-lines too, but there are enough mediocre Davos Seaworths and Doloros Eds to make up for it. I'm wracking my brain for a woman whose fate was decided by D&D who didn't get a terrible plot or ending, and I think it comes down to Lyanna Mormont and the scar face soup girl. Is she even still alive at the end? Mah queen Scar Face Soup Girl! GRRM understands women better, it seems. He wrote some truly amazing female characters, including book!Brienne, who is one of the world's best warriors, but also a soft squishy heart-eyed young woman. Alayne Stone, who learns not by being raped, but by keeping her eyes and ears and mind open. Dalla and Val are female wildling leaders erased by D&D so as to better focus on Tormund. Maege effing She-Bear Mormont, who disappeared into the north with Robb's command to name Jon his heir. Lady Taena, a bisexual woman of color and Cersei’s girlfriend. Jayne Westerling, who turned traitor to the Lannisters to marry Robb, and seems to have been stolen away by the Blackfish. Mya Stone! Mya Stone, King Robert's first bastard, who is a punk mountain goddess. Randa Royce, who is literally every teenage girl despite being a teen widow. Myrcella was sweet in the TV show, but in the books she is so SMART. She loves playing cyvasse and is described as bright, confident, and quick-witted, in addition to being sweet. I mean, I could continue all day, literally. But I won’t. GRRM, come save your ladies.
