I'm so disappointed with this show, I hated what they've been doing since atrocious b&c portrayal in e1, but this last episode (the leak) made me sick. Seriously, I don't understand how they managed to fumble this story so badly. And Aemond. He was one of the most popular characters after s1 with a good backstory and they should have just continued with it. The fact that even many TB fans liked him or found him interesting confirms this. But apparently Condal hated him so much and wanted to ruin him. He had so little screentime, they abandoned his character development and just decided to make him a one dimensional villain. However, I still understand him and won't bash him because I really dislike when the authors (and the narrative itself) are forcing me to hate a certain character. Also, I feel the same like with Daenerys after s8e4, he is basically all alone now, his mother betrayed him and revealed his war plans to the enemy, his sister tells him he'll die... It's just horrible. I hate those writers and what they did to the characters I loved.
Aemond was the only one I like of TG, I'm team black till the end so yeah I can confirm this! (don't get me wrong, I think all the ACTORS are incredible and are doing amazing, its the characters I don't like)
I said it recently, and I will say it again, I was team Mom's boy Aemond, I loved the relationship they had, specially when portrayed in S1E9, when he comforts her, and placed himself at her disposal... the way he held her... I was like damn Alicent, you might have showed disgusting favoritism, but at least, after everything and the horrible marriage with that walking corpse AT LEAST she has Aemond to show for it, despite all his flaws I thought he was going to be like a rabid dog in service of his family, because that is all he cares about... after the neglect from Viserys and his favoritism for Rhaenyra, he was going to be like... alright then... my FULL siblings and my mom, that's all I got... and that was burst into flames, for what?
He turned into a true villain, and not even a good one... like I get it, you want to be King, but at last, since Aegon didn't, they could have come to some sort of arrangement, right? do something better than what they did, I know they have a few minutes with each, but... dude..
he was such an interesting character... and they blew it up, i thought he at least was going to have... something... that was sacred to him, Helaena or his mother AT LEAST.... something! but he not even caring that his BABY NEPHEW lost his head because of him? it's insane, we all love a good villain with something... sacred to him, right??
And Aemond is only one of the many victims of this bananadnesss
And I don't like what they did with Rhaenyra either, I was so much more into that spoiled, darkish, tortured by her stepmother woman fromt he books, and she is too good, I think the writters got scared because of Dany, thought we wouldn't become Rhaenyra's apologists (they were wrong) hehehe
Anyways... LONG LIVE FANFICTION! we will keep them alive! as the show is assasinatings all of their characters! jejeje

The nonnie talking about ABC using or not using footage made me think about something...it's technically Bucktommy related but also just a curiosity about how the network functions.
I see an argument from some Tevans about how the marketing is favoring Tevan and thus pushing them to be a thing next season. Their evidence for this usually boils down to Lou and Oliver's interview being one of the only interviews for the end of S7, and Tevan's inclusion in the kiss cam video. And...no, that's about it. The argument is mostly built on those two things generating articles.
But let's run with that for a moment, and assume for a sec that the marketing IS pushing Tevan...would that not mean that the marketing side of the show and the writing side of the show aren't talking to each other? Because the writing of the show is clearly pushing Buddie, with their many, many choices they made in S7 to center those two, their connection, their importance to each other, etc. But I do get that the Buddie storyline is harder to show in a promo product, especially if they're trying to overtly show their queer representation with Buck. (Though idk, the bachelor party footage was pretty queer).
So i'd be curious to know how much the writing team actually shares with the marketing department in terms of future content, and how much the marketing team just runs with whatever they have on hand. The marketing department may only have as much information as we have, and they don't know that Buddie's first kiss is in S8E4 (manifesting it for Ryan's 100th episode). So of course they'll keep posting the couple they have footage of, even if that couple is breaking up within the season premiere.
So in short I'd just be really curious to find out how much "they know" compared to us. Because for all we know any and all official marketing materials could be taken with a grain of salt because they're built solely on the stuff that has happened already with no information on what's GOING to happen.
Nonny, I raise a good point here. 🤔 I have never thought of this.
I can't be sure, but I have a feeling that marketing teams from the general networks don't know as much about the ins and outs of the shows they promote. They just use the material they have on hand. Or they might even get sent some things which they will then use.
But I suppose the specific marketing teams, such as the 911onABC one, probably know a little more about what they need to promote. I mean, they would have to know a few key points in order to promote the right ship for example. Or to promote the big disaster that's happening. This season we got that bee video, so they have to know at least the bare bones of what's going on in season 8.
But this is all just conjecture here. Take this with a bag of salt. I don't work in marketing or PR, so I'm not very familiar with that world.

JB Week 2023!!
i've been waiting for this!!! idk how much i'll participate but i'll start with today's question:
How did you discover JB?
so for YEARS my sister had been trying to get me to read the books and watch the show but it never really caught my attention, and then one of my friends started the show in like 2022 and she got obsessed so i started watching and i loved the show. i instantly latched onto jaime in particular, and i even liked him before s3 and his maiming although i have to admit it has to do with nikolaj coster walday being too perfect for this one human earth. anyways then i got to the later seasons (which i hated) and then to s8e4 where we finally get canon JB and it is ripped from our grubby little hands.
i was devastated w the show's ending and with both jaime and brienne's arcs, so i fell down the rabbit hole of video essays and then fanfic, where i started to read a lot of book!canon fanfic without realising it because i thought it would be similar to what happens in the show. and so i started to read the books in late 2022 and finished them around mid 2023, and here i am.
with the books i only seemed to grow more obsessed, i have all my editions tabbed with where the jaime and brienne chapters are and with separate colours for them while everyone else isnt as meticulously tabbed imo, and i constantly reread the jaime affc chapters because i genuinely think they're phenomenal and they help me process a lot of things. as of right now i would say im primarily a fan of the books (especially book JB) and i really want to reread them without having them as my focal point even though i do love and adore them sososo much.
anyways happy JB week to all!!!

South Park Filler Guide - Season 8
Link for Seasons 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
PLS my analysis will have spoilers, if you’re a first time viewer, just scroll to the bottom and read the list and only read full text if you are familiar with the content of the show already! S8E1 Good Times with Weapons is FILLER
Yes! Everyone's favorite season premiere is a filler, baby! It was fun, we sang, we cried, in the end Butters never has a scar on his eye again. S8E2 Up the Down Steroid is LORE
We have a new tradition, which is that after last season's Krazy Kripples, we'll have a new Jimmy episode every year! And this is the first time we meet Nathan and the rest of the special education kids. S8E3 The Passion of the Jew is FILLER
I wanted to tell you this one was canon, because the season has constant mentions of Passion of the Christ so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter. S8E4 AWESOM-O is FILLER
Sooo if every anime filler was as good as these ones, the filler guides most likely wouldn't exist (or they would, because humans), but again, what we have is a self-contained story. S8E5 You Got F'd in the A is FILLER
At one point I might have convinced myself that what I'm doing with this recap makes some kind of sense, but alas, it doesn't. This became an episodic show and we miss out on all the best episodes. Why am I lamenting at You Got F'd instead of Good Times with Weapons? Because I'm a loose cannon with no regard for the law. That may be true, but I get the job done, God damn it. S8E6 The Jeffersons is CANON
No other Mr. Jefferson episode came out while Michael was still alive. As a hologram he later references his name being Jefferson again, but this one only ads a little more context to that. This one also pretty much introduced the new cops of South Park. S8E7 Goobacks is FILLER
Yes, Darryl and the Took our jobs meme are here, but it will return in enough episodes to still be understood. S8E8 Douche and Turd is CANON
What a great election episode! We get town lore (Stephen with the ram's horn again) and an allegory that will return in a big way later. S8E9 Something Walmart This Way Comes is FILLER
I regularly forget this one exists and doesn't make a difference at all. Sorry, got too subjective. Objectively this is an episode with a simple message and without a larger scope for the show. S8E10 Pre-School is FILLER
Trent Boyett never returned. But if you think about it, he is one of the boys' greatest foes. I wish one of the specials was a follow-up of the 15 year old versions of the characters meeting Trent again. If everything else fails, THAT would bring me back and change my classifications! S8E11 Quest for Ratings is FILLER
One time the boys played cops. They even played musicians. Now they play newsreaders. Only Jimmy is in for the long-run and he will get episodes that focus on that individually. S8E12 Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset is CANON
Not just because it's a follow-up to Death Camp of Tolerance, that in itself wouldn't be enough. But Paris also has an extended role in a specific later episode I mentioned a lot, but never dropped. It's 200 by the way. And 201. Now I am a bit picky of which ones to include if we got no other clue for an episode. The show never got to 200 celebrities at that point. Also, some of them were in that episode first. So only the most prominent ones get their debuts counted as canon ones by default. S8E13 Cartman's Incredible Gift is CANON
A character dies. Harrison Yates gets more role here as a detective, slowly drifting away from Barbrady. S8E14 Woodland Critter Christmas is FILLER
It's just in Eric's mind. Some of you are already mad at me for this. Some of you will only get it later and be mad at me in the season 11 post.
SPOILER-FREE RUNDOWN
Again, CANON means you should watch it, FILLER means you can skip it, LORE is somewhere in-between, any episode with the LORE label will have an explanation that helps you decide if you should include it or not. S8E1 Good Times with Weapons is FILLER S8E2 Up the Down Steroid is LORE* S8E3 The Passion of the Jew is FILLER S8E4 AWESOM-O is FILLER S8E5 You Got F'd in the A is FILLER S8E6 The Jeffersons is CANON S8E7 Goobacks is FILLER S8E8 Douche and Turd is CANON S8E9 Something Walmart This Way Comes is FILLER S8E10 Pre-School is FILLER S8E11 Quest for Ratings is FILLER S8E12 Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset is CANON S8E13 Cartman's Incredible Gift is CANON S8E14 Woodland Critter Christmas is FILLER
*Casually introduces the special ED kids
CANON counter:
S1: 9 out of 13 S2: 3 out of 18 S3: 6 out of 18 S4: 10 out of 17 S5: 8 out of 14 S6: 11 out of 17 S7: 6 out of 15 S8: 4 out of 14
Overall: 57 out of 126

American Sign Language media content for receptive skills practice
Made this list because I really could have used it earlier on! My rubric is that it needs to include Deaf people signing, and that SimCom doesn't count (it may be present, but it can't be all there is).
This only includes stuff I've actually seen (or partially seen). Also, I'm including some warnings about what you may *not* want to watch, because again, I really could have used those warnings myself.
Easy (i.e. has subtitles and/or voiceover available, IIRC)
Mostly speaking:
CODA (movie; comedy/drama; on AppleTV+)
Kinderfänger (scary movie. Note that it has a 3.7/10 on IMDb. I personally liked it fwiw. not sure if it's streaming anywhere)
CODA (short film; on Kanopy)
Master of None S2.E6: New York, I Love You (TV show episode, currently on Netflix)
Wild Prairie Rose (drama/romance, currently on Peacock)
Queer Eye S8E4: Protect the Nest (reality TV, on Netflix)
CSI S11E13: The Two Mrs. Grissoms (crime show, Hulu)
ANTM Season 22 (the one with Nyle, obviously. I had to get this from the library on a DVD that, get this, had NO captions available. Not impressed. (The ASL was voiceovered))
Running Wild with Bear Grylls the Challenge S2E4: Troy Kotsur in the Scottish Highlands (reality TV, on Hulu I think)
CSI NY S3E12: Silent Night (crime show, Hulu). I found this one pretty ableist/audist (but it's hard to explain why without spoiling the whole thing - here's the summary if you're fine with spoilers: https://csi.fandom.com/wiki/Silent_Night) also the camera work sometimes seemed more interested in making the signing look artsy rather than making it legible lol
Sue Thomas, F. B. Eye (Peacock) - some episodes have lots of signing, some have none or close to it. Honestly it's pretty racist (the show came out 2002-2005. A lot of episodes are about terrorism, and they're constantly justifying racial profiling). If you can stomach that in exchange for surprisingly decent Deaf rep, here's a (probably incomplete) list of the ones with at least one non-Sue Deaf character, with a * if there are multiple: The Signing, The Heist*, He Said She Said, Girl Who Signed Wolf, Homeland Security, Bad Hair Day, Into Thin Air*, The Holocaust Survivor*, Elvis is in the Building*, Did She or Didn't She, The Fraternity*, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Troy Story*, Endings and Beginnings*. But yeah, I can't exactly recommend it, just trying to be honest about the pros and cons.
Switched at Birth - I really don't recommend this one either. I understand some people like it, but I have to give my disclaimer that if you watch a couple episodes and think "Well, I didn't like that, but maybe it will get better," lose that hope right now. To me, it only got worse. There is soooo much SimCom (yes, even later in the show when everyone should have learned to sign. Do NOT think there will be more or better signing later on). Daphne's actress has Meniere's disease; in a Reddit AMA, she said, quote, "Technically I am not deaf," so I really question why she was cast as the main Deaf character. Regardless of how she identifies, she is playing an experience she has not had; she isn't a native signer (she started learning in high school, not at age 3 like her character), and when she speaks in the show, she FAKES a "deaf accent". Also, this show is not as lighthearted as it looks, there are some truly disturbing plotlines that just get brushed over. Maybe you love this kind of drama - power to you. I'm just asking that if you watch a couple episodes and don't care for it, quit. Read some episode summaries on the wiki if you need to satisfy your curiosity, but don't hold out hope and watch almost 2 seasons' worth while feeling worse and worse about it l like I did. Moving on:
All or mostly signing:
Deaf U (reality show, on Netflix)
WHAT? (movie; comedy, silent movie; on Prime)
Blue Apple (creepy short film) https://media.gallaudet.edu/media/Blue+Apple+%281994%29/1_wke1swj2 also like. click around on the website. Gallaudet has soooooo much media available (plays, films, etc)
Scarecrow (creepy short film), also a Gallaudet production https://ssl.gallaudet.edu/videolibrary/?embed=16500 tbh there's not a ton of dialogue in this one, so maybe don't watch it if you don't like slow pacing
Don't Shoot the Messenger (raunchy YouTube series about an interpreter)
Barbie in ASL (On Max. It's the movie Barbie, but with a Deaf interpreter in the corner)
PBS also has some stuff with ASL interpretation. I didn't check everything so I don't know if they're all done by Deaf interpreters, but I recognized Jeremy Lee Stone as the interpreter for (at least some of) the Arthur episodes, and Lisa McBee for (at least some of) the Daniel Tiger ones https://pbskids.org/videos/american-sign-language-full-episodes
speaking of Jeremy Lee Stone, his Youtube channel is a great resource: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9HZ1JdV1Us
as are Nathie Marbury's storytelling videos https://www.youtube.com/@dawnsignpress/search?query=nathie
other kids' stories and resources for kids: https://www.youtube.com/@RMDSCO from Rocky Mountain Deaf School and https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLhbEjnwOPpyIHotZrGLu68OGeEZlTuvbg from Texas School for the Deaf (some of these are captioned or follow along with a book that they show on screen, but some aren't)
a few nonfiction Youtube series: Daily Moth (general news), Atomic Hands (STEM education), Quantum ASL (STEM education - just a couple longer videos, the rest are basically dictionary entries), BEHEARDDC (prison abolition), Joel West Barish (travel), Rogan Shannon (queer topics), Melmira (interviews)
Sign with Robert (available for free on both Kanopy and Tubi): this is mostly just general ASL teaching, but there are some episodes specifically labeled receptive practice where he tells jokes and stories (25, 26, and 29 - for 26 and 29 they play the stories twice, with captions the second time so you can see what you missed, it's actually super nice haha)
her specific channel doesn't have much, but you can just look up Melanie McKay-Cody, who does research about Indigenous sign languages (she is herself Cherokee). Lots of videos from her all over Youtube
SoCal Stories (interviews with folks including Marlee Matlin, CJ Jones, Bernard Bragg...): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8T937th3Qg&list=PLwR2tgM-4_AYjBRvj3GWqWRjjMiZz_w8u this is part of the Youtube channel Convo Communications, which has tons of other stuff I haven't explored
ASL music videos: this list was curated by a Deaf person so I trust it https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx1wHz1f-8J_xKVdU7DGa5RWIwWzRWNVt
Deafies in Drag (Youtube comedy series)
Reverie (short film, drama. Heavy themes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiFWE6Mtpu0
Perfect Match (short film, drama / sci fi) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxE65yzMgyE
The Witnesses (short film, satire) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6u9iQ_hjXDg
4 translations of MLK's I Have a Dream speech: Richard Bailey https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H2-3O-NJFg (no captions or voiceover), JC Smith https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUmdM965Si8 , Takiyah Harris (rough video quality on this one) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiyG_h1tnZE , Missouri School for the Deaf students https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mmxJByigac
jooux (sexual wellness resource): https://www.youtube.com/@jooux/videos
Intermediate
Mostly Speaking:
Sound of Metal (movie; drama; on Prime) (the late-deafened characters are not played by Deaf actors, but there's still a lot of Deaf actors. Most of the signing is mid-movie, and if I remember correctly, some is not subtitled, while some is)
Children of a Lesser God (movie; available on Kanopy). The signing isn't subtitled (it's mostly voice-interpreted by another character) and also it was very hard to understand - I gather it leaned more toward SEE? So that's why it's in intermediate.
Star Trek TNG S2E5: Loud as a Whisper (on Paramount+): no subtitles; most of the signing is voice interpreted, but not all. All the ASL is in the 2nd half but there's still a good amount, I thought
All or mostly signing:
look up Gallaudet Theatre Arts on Youtube. There's actually a variety of levels here (of the two I've watched, Bunnicula has voiceover, but Midsummer Night's Dream doesn't. The audio/video quality isn't great on any of it). I'm listing it as Intermediate because for e.g. Shakespeare you can just look up the script of the play and have it in another tab to check what's going on.
Sign (short film; some sexual content) https://vimeo.com/157890479 I was able to understand most of this, which means it's a loooot easier than the Shakespeare, but yeah, no subtitles, no voiceover, no help
The Deaf Family (YouTube sitcom) (don't be fooled, only the first episode has subtitles) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1uuntQOPnw&list=PLx1wHz1f-8J9KzkK5lLO3z0wk64eUzo3Y
Deaf Traditions: Storytelling and Poetry https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLIpW9QfUw6zwGKJ0N_HGH_8PnF8g7FSmg these range from easy to hard, I would say. No subtitles
Bonus warning categories:
Doesn't have as much signing as you'd think
(ranked roughly from most signing to least signing)
The Circle, Season 5 (reality show on Netflix. I did really enjoy the Deaf contestant but I definitely wanted more)
Fargo, season 1-ish (show; horror? On Hulu) I only watched a few episodes but Russell was only getting like 5 min screen time per episode and i wasn't enjoying the show otherwise, so it wasn't worth it for me personally
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist S1E9: Zoey's Extraordinary Silence (jukebox musical TV show. On Peacock)
Only Murders in the Building (mystery show on Hulu) - through the 4 seasons of the show, the Deaf character (Theo Dimas) is in 4 episodes, then 2, then 1, then 0. 🤷♀️
The Family Stone (I did enjoy the movie though tbh. on Hulu)
Curb Your Enthusiasm S12E3: Vertical Drop, Horizontal Tug (TV comedy, on Max) Troy only gets like 5 min of screentime 😭 he's an Academy Award winner...
Queer as Folk S1E4: F*ck Disabled People (on Peacock) (Nyle is in it but I don't think he even ever talks to anyone else who can sign? He's mostly communicating via writing)
Not Worth It
What the Bleep Do We Know: we attempted to watch this "doc" without realizing beforehand that it was all pseudoscience. Honestly, I'm not even sure there was signing in it? I think there was a little
Wonderstruck (2017). There are multiple Deaf actors on the roster. But not one of them gets to sign *anything* as far as I could tell. (One plays a character who hasn't learned to sign, I think at least two were playing hearing people (I do support Deaf actors taking hearing roles, but not if you're gonna take that as an excuse to do the reverse.... which this movie did.....), and some must have had barely any screentime). Two hearing actors get to sign (also the signing doesn't start til like the last 20 min of the movie), and two other hearing actors briefly fingerspell. 👎
Intentionally Didn't Watch (the summary was that bad)
These included Deaf people despite not really wanting them to exist!!!! (think along the lines of forcing ppl to get cochlear implants)
Scrubs S6E16, "My Words of Wisdom" https://scrubs.fandom.com/wiki/My_Words_of_Wisdom someone described this episode to me in a bit more detail than the summary here, and yeah. not good
House S5E22, "House Divided" https://house.fandom.com/wiki/House_Divided legit infuriating

(there's a lack of s10 and s11 end credits uploaded to yt which SUCKS bc i rly like a lot of them so uh. use ur imagination) s10e3 motor, she boat - gene fnaf jumpscare at the beginning but god i love louise's ears squashing down under hat 😭😭 s10e11 drumforgiven - gene is just so happy in this sequence god don't talk to me s10e14 wag the song - one of the only times jjr sings the end credits song afaik? also love the limited colours s10e21 local she-ro - cute linda and tina sequence s10e22 prank you for being a friend - rudy is so happy here look at him

supernatural s10e4 paper moon (w. adam glass)
(ps apparently i didn't actually finish e3 yesterday, i still had a little scene left. but i glanced down when copying out the transcript to get the dean and cas convo bits and didn't see any more dialogue so i was like okay, see ya. so, noted, new evil beautiful red haired lady to fill up the abaddon shaped hole)
exCUSE ME what are those sunglasses??? cringing and laughing. are those someone else's glasses they just plonked on jared's face? it looks like there's a prescription?? dying.
listen. jared, baby, i am so sorry they did this to you and now i'm wheezing over it
(wiki)
In the scene by the river, Sam is wearing Prada Wayfarer sunglasses and Dean is wearing Oakley Holbrook.
prada???? sam. in prada sunglasses
DEAN Hey, something I needed to ask you. SAM Shoot. DEAN You've been... kicked, bit, scratched, stabbed, possessed, killed... And you sprain your friggin' elbow?
when in reality how is he not constantly recovering from surgery/stab wounds/being shot by bela etc 🤪
very cute. it's been a while since we had a scenic drink and chat! went for a whopper of a view too
DEAN Seriously, I'm good. I am. You know, we got… Three more cases of this stuff on ice in the trunk. Taking some ‘we time.’… best decision we ever made.
*studio audience awwww's* "we time" huh. werewolves gonna crash the honeymoon?
SAM Hear that.
god that just makes me think about
s5e10 abandon all hope this sweet and funny moment that could have started a fight but no one got mad
DEAN Sam Winchester, having trust issues with a demon. Well, better late than never. SAM Thank you again for your continued support.
and jo and bobby and ellen and....
🥲
all right. we time with extremely questionable sunglasses. let's go. oh, honeymoon too boring, the mark still got him stabby feeling.
DEAN Look, Sam, what we're doing here, it's good, okay? You and me hanging out. But I need to work… I need this. SAM If things go sideways... I mean, like, an inch, you gotta give me the heads-up.
sam, the real "we time" would be the werewolves we kill along the way. oh i do have a hazy idea of something that happens when he must still have the mark. i bet it involves not telling sam when he's going sideways :P
SAM Guess she likes bad boys. DEAN Well, wait’ll she gets a load of us.
LOL okay, dean. feelin himself. splitting up when sam is down his dominant arm seems not great, especially at night when he needs a flashlight. needs a headlamp :p
ahh, kate, the werewolf from the found footage episode (s8e4). i gather that was quite unpopular? i liked it fine
oh my god a like, full episode recap so we can dredge up the memory of lester that was what, 2 episodes ago? lol. wow this is some kind of conversation
SAM You're serious? This is about Lester? DEAN Um, don't get me wrong. I'm not -- I'm not -- I'm not trying to start anything either, okay? I'm just saying, maybe... maybe we oughta talk about that. SAM Okay, except there's nothing to talk about. DEAN Okay. SAM Okay. DEAN I just figured, since we're opening up veins that maybe you'd want to talk about the guy who you made sell his soul. SAM The guy who you then killed, right? I mean, that's the same guy we're talking about? DEAN I was a demon. SAM Oh, you were a demon? Oh, I didn't realize that.
made me laugh. tell him, sam!
DEAN Hey, man, Lester was gonna pay for that soul shake sooner or later. So technically, it's still on you. SAM What do you want from me, Dean? Look, I w-- I'm not happy about it, okay? But I needed to find you. So if I had to... bend a few rules...
this is cracking me up. sam's like damnit dean, usually we just ignore this and move on and never address it again. shove it down. you know???
DEAN Go dark. SAM Go dark. Sure. Label it if you want.
now that got another laugh. ugh kids and their labels
DEAN Look, man, again, I'm not complaining, okay? In fact, I'm doing just the opposite of complaining. I... I just... You know, between Lester and the others... SAM There weren't others. DEAN Okay, either way, maybe we both needed that time off. DEAN This is good. This is good. SAM Yeah. Okay.
is our impromptu therapy session over? 😂 dean what are you doing? haha. was that all just a deflection so they wouldn't talk about his issues?
KATE Don't! She's my sister.
snorted. a murderous sibling, oh, the moral dilemma!
SAM Yoga? DEAN [mocking] Okay. KATE You laugh, but... I'll pretty much try anything to keep that side of me under control.
*staring at camera*
feel a little bad laughing at all these things but when they start hitting me over the head with a point/parallel to the boys i just can't
SAM So back at the barn, that was all just an act to protect Tasha? KATE She's family. And, yeah, worth eating a bullet for.
dying for her so she can continue killing other people too! lol. normal sibling behavior
DEAN Kate and Tasha are monsters, okay? Last I checked, we kill monsters. SAM Right, but how can you possibly blame Kate for fighting for her sister? We do it all the time.
mmhm
DEAN Well, yeah, and that's worked wonders for us. SAM Well, we're still here, aren't we? DEAN Yeah, but is it right? I mean, all that you've done for me, I've still got this Mark. SAM And we'll figure that out. We always do. But you can't take whatever's happened to us or to you and -- and dump it at these girls' feet. DEAN All right, so, what? You wanna nuance this thing? Hit me. What's your plan?
look at all of this impressive communication. impromptu therapy session #2 in the books
SAM Okay. Then, um... I gotta tell you something. I, uh... I lied about Lester. DEAN What? SAM There were others. DEAN Other humans? SAM No. No, no. And -- and I'm sure there were a few hunters I rubbed -- or I... punched the wrong way, but...No. I pretty much saved my best stuff for the bad guys. But you gotta understand something, Dean.
ringing up #3! it's like a season's worth of straight forward communication
SAM I watched you die. SAM And I carried you. I carried your corpse into your room, and I put your dead body on your bed, and then you just... DEAN Yeah.
sam 💔
DEAN I know. I guess I was hoping that note would, you know, fill in the blanks. SAM “Don't look for me”? That note? Yeah, that was really informative. Thanks. DEAN Yeah. I... SAM What? DEAN It's embarrassing, you know? SAM W-what's embarrassing? DEAN All of it. You know, the -- the -- that note. Crowley. Everything.
oh, dean. i hadn't thought about that, that would be mortifying
SAM Dean, you were a demon. DEAN I was a demon? Oh, thanks. I didn't -- I didn't realize. SAM [smiling] Shut up.
cute cute
DEAN Not to mention, I never even said “thank you”" so... SAM You don't ever have to say that, not to me.
oh my god LOL it's like.
Pylades: I’ll take care of you. Orestes: It’s rotten work. Pylades: Not to me. Not if it’s you. ― Anne Carson, Euripides
which is pretty much their dynamic all the time but the "not to me" would not be denied
TASHA Drop the gun, or Dreamboat here gets his mind blown.
dreamboat, that's a new one. also accurate
TASHA No one's talking to you, Paul Bunyan!
i snorted. okay, maybe this is the problem with my emotional attachment. serious scenes make me laugh. but not in a bad way most of the time? just i'm enjoying the silliness but then not feeling the serious parts. tone too wonky maybe. chicken and the egg, did the tone break the attachment or did the attachment break and made me notice just the jokes because i'm not emotionally engaged
well, they made the sibling parallel diverge pretty starkly what with one being full dark and the other willing and able to kill her
DEAN If you got an itch to scratch... SAM Dean, look, we both jumped on this case. I agree. Equal parts blame there. But the whole idea behind laying low was to rest, to...try and deal with everything we – everything you went through. Maybe we jumped back in too fast. I mean, Dean… you were a demon. You still have the Mark.
yes, dealing with it, definitely a new concept :p is this #4? lost track
SAM Didn't you ever wanna talk about it? DEAN Talk about it? Talk about it how? SAM Come on, man. DEAN I am coming on, Sam, look… I know what happened. Okay? I was there. Remember? I'm not trying to get by it. I just... That's not what this was about. SAM Then what is this about? DEAN It’s about gettin' back in the saddle. Okay? Doing something good, not stewing in my own crap. SAM And what if you're not ready?
this feels like a reminder, hey dean is the king of feeling guilty about things. which honestly, it wasn't at the forefront of my mind either. embarrassed and guilty ✅✅ i'm too worried about what the mark is doing to him
don't think i care if this is ooc i'm taking it. i ship clear communication 🤝 the boys

Some scattered thoughts on MXDZT S8
I didn't expect myself to want to watch it at all. Watching bits of S7 left me feeling very bittersweet, with Sa Beining's absence like a gap that can't be filled, so I didn't even imagine wanting to start S8.
I technically only watched half of S8 so far (E1, E2, E5, E10-12), and I watched it slightly out-of-order, but what I have seen already makes me want to watch at least S8E4, S8E7 and S8E8 too.
I didn't expect myself to enjoy it THIS much.
--Spoilers ahead! --
I just finished S8E12 and these are the main points that left a strong impression on me.
1. Continuity
We've had recurrent verses (like NZND) and characters or elements (like the "Zhen Piao Liang" plastic surgery hospital), in previous seasons, but this level of continuity within a season was completely new and riveting to watch.
It was so cool to start with a regular MXDZT case, to be introduced to a young detective (He Hehe) in ep 1, only to realise that he comes back later in the season, that his story is developed, that what he lived in eps 1-2 influences his life and decisions, that the plot of the first eps are pivotal to the finale. Similarly, seeing the looming shadow of the TianDing Group in S8E5 and other eps, before seeing what it became in eps 11-12, was an extremely exciting build-up and pay-off. I wanted the threads to connect and was so satisfied when they did. We've never had this kind of massive plot developed in MXDZT before.
Even S7E11 which made big call-backs to previous seasons and characters, and wrapped up the season with Sa Beining as a connecting thread, did not link the stories of each ep in the same way that S8 does with He Hehe's story.
2. Story-telling
Which brings me to the 2nd point: I feel like S8 placed a greater focus on story-telling than before. On the one hand, it sometimes felt like the evidence was too easy. There were a lot of pictures, for one, or diaries which happen to have all the right notes; the variety was a bit lacking and it felt less like a game played by the cast, and more like a story that they have to bring to life, at times.
On the other hand, it really did bring the stories to life in a very immersive manner. The fact that He Hehe and Zhang Luo did not have a voting choice in S8E12, for example, was definitely more about telling their story than about winning a murder mystery game. But ouch, it sure made me feel for He Hehe. It made me feel for all the characters who had to choose between them two.
3.Themes covered
I had a lot of expectations towards the Timeline A and Timeline B problem that S8E5 had introduced. For He Hehe, Timeline A appears as a rosier world, where Sa Mingdeng is a recurrent character and the members of his agency truly cared for each other. Timeline B is the "factual" world where Sa does not exist and his entire agency got annihilated by the TianDing Group.
But for Rong Tianzhen, it's the opposite: Timeline A is the one where she was abused all her childhood only to commit suicide in M213. Timeline B is the one where she finds her father again. For Liu Cuimian, both timelines have their good and bad. His partner Zhang Luo with whom he co-parented TianTian never died in Timeline B, but at the same time, they've never shared those 10 years of history that they had in Timeline A.
Only in S8E12 are we told that both are real, just that Timeline A was a deviation, and Timeline B is the one that leads to what is basically a dystopia where everything is controlled by Big Data. (ha. the irony) Meanwhile, going back to Timeline A means possibilities to change the past and towards a different future, which could be as good as it is bad.
The show frames the timelines very heavily in favour of Timeline A, using the words "freedom, courage and truth" to describe it. He Hehe, who is tasked to defend Timeline A, also calls it "sentiment and romance". But the show also clearly frames it as individuality and agency, as shouldering personal choices and their possibly very negative consequences. It frames Timeline B as the loss of individual agency, with happiness under B as "captive" happiness. It's a framing that I find very brave of a show in its context and environment.
In the end, Timeline A does not win, due to a wide range of odds. Regardless, the framing of the show was already so heavily in favor of A that I can't help but be emotional about it. And in the end, even Zhang Ruoyun, who has to play devil's advocate for Timeline B, argues that "Timeline B does not mean impossibility to change, there is perhaps a way to change the future from the present towards the future", which plays a role into the final votes. The fact that even the guy tasked to defend B has to argue for changing the outcome of B says a lot about the framing. I enjoyed this theme a lot and did not expect it from MXDZT.
4. Sa Beining's Absence
I was also pleasantly surprised with how they've dealt with Sa Beining's absence in S8. S7 was already very nice. But if S7 was an ode to his importance for the show and an acknowledgment that his absence is heavily felt, S8 felt like a respectful new start.
In what I've seen of S7, watching He Jiong felt at times like he was trying to cover both his previous role and Sa Beining's role, which was almost jarring at times. In S8, the cast seems to have found a new balance, in which He Jiong can really just go back to his own style of hosting, with perhaps just an increased level of sass, deviousness and pettiness (affectionate). Similarly, if others were still dancing around the fact that Sa Beining is no longer there in S7, the cast in S8 feels much more comfortable in this respect, where the use of Sa Mingdeng as a character doesn't prickle anymore, but is more of a element of warmth and amusement.
I have also read that the crew itself changed since S6 (S7 had a lot of difficulties airing). S8 certainly felt like they found a better balance and style of their own when it comes to the editing.
5. Challenging new game formats
S8E2 left a strong impression on me. The game format changes completely in Part II of the ep, with the cast basically dividing into two groups and enter a sort of game of Werewolf (it's probably another game, but I don't know it).
On the one hand, that totally did cut the story-telling for me. It took me a few minutes to adjust, and I still think it was a bit disruptive, with the character of the Butler (which is more of a game master than a proper character), not being developed enough to fit in. But holy shit, I have to admit the game was spectacular (thank you Xiao Pu) and I definitely want to rewatch it.
S8E12 also had a completely different format from what we're used to. The ending votes, in fact, were not even about finding a murderer.
So all in all, this season definitely tried to challenge new ways of playing the game. I still think there's room for improvement on the transitions between the murder-mystery we know and the new elements they want to try, but overall, it worked on me.
I enjoy MXDZT for the detective work, but also a huge lot for the stories told and the cast dynamics. I think this season didn't lose its detectives' heart overall, and still gave me a lot of positive surprises regarding the stories told and the cast. I am looking forward to S9 again. For one, I think there are still ways to build on the plot of S8, especially considering the ending that won, and that includes ways to explore Sa Mingdeng's provenance and why he is interacting with the world the way he is.
Still hoping that they can release the Sa himself for one of the later seasons... but if they cannot, at least I'll still be curious about what S9 looks like.

OP asked for context, so here's what I was able to find. The video is from a 1996 commercial for a Columbo collector's edition VHS. The specific (and only) footage I could find of any of these collector's edition commercials was for the premiere episode. Searched the fuckin library of congress but the only useful video ended up on YouTube of all places.
youtube
You can see the exact frame in the video where the UNCENSORED image is taken from. All of the collector's edition boxes looked the same, but I can't find commercials for anything other than Prescription Murder. So that brings the actual text of the commercial into consideration. This isn't just the whole first season these were sold episode by episode, narrator says "apprehend your first classic mystery" and "to get your first video", and if you look at people selling these on ebay or amazon or whatever they list specific episodes.
The only Columbo episodes I can think of that would even possibly include boobs that need to be censored and are now uncensored are Suitable for Framing (S1E4) and Grand Deceptions (S8E4), and even then Grand Deceptions is really stretching "censored" because the only boobs there are covered by sheets. Very PG. I can't imagine how that could be "uncensored" as it appeared that way in the TV version that I checked just for this post. Also, Grand Deceptions does not even appear to have a Columbo collector's edition VHS. So that just leaves Suitable for Framing.
Suitable for Framing is a bit of a different case considering that episode actually has a nude model in it. I checked this episode too, TV version. She's almost completely covered by a canvas the whole time, just her head and shins sticking out but still! That's the only relevant thing the "uncensored boobs" could possibly be talking about. And it's season 1 so yes that episode does have a Columbo collector's edition VHS, which you can really buy online but I don't have the money or a VHS player to do it.
Oh, one more thing.
Y'see, somethings been botherin me when I've been poring over all these commercials and parental guidance ratings for episodes from the early 70's and VHS collections. The image that you posted, OP, it's got a different typeface. Not just a font but a whole new typeface. Through the whole commercial I found on YouTube, it uses the exact same typeface. Now it could very well be that they decided to change it up to somethin more intense just for the uncensored boobies and cussing, but I don't think they'd go through the trouble. Oh, and uh, I looked through the entire script for Suitable for Framin yknow the only episode with boobs in it and well, I didn't find a cuss of any kind. Now I just find that interesting... What's my point? No, no no point. Just that, uh... It's a unique situation.
What I'm getting at there is that this could very well be fake. As far as I can tell there is no episode of Columbo that has all three qualities of
-Boobs
-Cussing
-Collectors edition VHS
The video from the image, like I said before, is taken directly from that 1996 commercial for Prescription Murder collector's edition.
My personal theory is that this was edited. Any more evidence to the contrary would be fantastic because I really love the image. May seem a bit anti-climatic but bein a detective doesn't always mean you're gonna find what you wanna find.
i lied columbo opens his jacket in season 2 episode 1 and we see his massive fucking honkers they tried to take it off the air they tried to censor it this image is the only surviving memory please you gotta believe me you have t

This is bullshit
This whole thing is bullshit
That’s a scam
Fuck d&d
Here’s 15 reasons why:
1. Arya is clearly in love with Gendry.
2. Gendry is clearly in love with Arya.
3. “I have a son you have a daughter we’ll join our houses”
4. “I can be your family”.
5. The smiles™️
6. Soft kisses.

8. He let Arya top him , even though we all know that he could have easily changed that.
9. The first thing he does after being legitimized is go and find Arya and tell her.
