The name Mirianna makes me think of a warm autumn afternoon spent inside, all wrapped up.

does anna dream about miriam? is she glad it wasn’t her who was recaptured, or does she feel guilty, or does she feel jealous that miriam got to keep living a life free of pain? did they paint each other’s nails and enjoy the way the fumes burned their noses? did they share a freshly-baked loaf of bread between them at a date, ripping chunks from it and enjoying the rough edges against their tongues? does miriam miss it? does she feel a kind of ache when she sees a flash of red hair on a street corner? when she saw dean and told him that he needed to die, is it because some deeply-buried part of her blamed him for anna’s death?

thinking again about how miriam spn 13.01 seems so much more knowledgeable about earth (convincingly playing a drunk girl! talking about annoying college roommates!) than so many other angels and which other angels have that background knowledge and like. what if anna didn't cut out her grace and fall alone. what if she had a friend and confidante who also wanted to experience earth. what if they made a pact to be reborn together. what if they ended up at the same college or workplace and felt a Connection? and what if the angels recaptured and lobotomized miriam but she still remembers, she just doesn't feel the same way about the memories as she did experiencing them? do you think she rejoins anna in the empty? what do you think she dreams about there?

The Midnight Silence

Part 1 of an angst story.​ This is a Programmed Assassin AU. Obviously this no ties to any original timeline for any characters depicted. Just an excuse for angst. 

"Target Charlie-Alpha-Delta-Lima-Zero-Three-One neutralized."

The words sunk deep into the nearby guardians shaking them to their core. "No..." The hunter gasped at her warlock companion.

"Returning to base for mission report."

There it was again followed by the crunch of boots on loose gravel. There was a rustle of armor as well and the hunter, Mirianna, rushed to chase after the sound. Her lover, Altran, grabbed her arm and shook his head. He didn't want to get her hopes up but he couldn't fight his own wishful thinking. Perhaps...it was him…

Pulling the woman behind a large boulder, they watched and listened as the footsteps grew nearer. As it approached their ears picked up the unmistakable static sound of a receiver.

"What's your ETA, Silence?"

"Twenty minutes until arrival."

"Make it 10."

"Yes, sir."

The name made them shiver in fear. Silence. Also known as the Midnight Silence. It was an assassin that popped up a year after their love, Zenith, went missing. Since then, he'd been making his way around. His kill count growing and growing. There was no telling how many there were now. And there was no reason. It seemed random. Mirianna and Altran theorized Zenith might have been one of the first few victims before the Silence's name started to float around. It had hit their entire fireteam hard. Months of searching turned up nothing and eventually they had to come to terms with the fact that they might not actually find him. 

Peeking around the rock as the footsteps passed caused Mirianna to fall over herself. The striking white hair and pale blue tinted skin automatically reminding her of her lost love. She pulled herself together as she stood up. White hair on an awoken was as common as brown hair on a human. There was no reason to jump to conclusions. 

Altran stepped out as well to stand in front of her protectively. The commotion seemed to draw the attention of the assassin and he turned around.

A whimper left Mirianna as she took in the face of the assassin and it all snapped into place. The timing, the voice, the fucking face. It was Zenith.

"Dove!-"

"Leave this place. Now." The assassin- their Zenith- demanded in a cold tone. His eyes, once electric blue and so full of joy were a violent purple. The happiness that once dwelled in them was gone leaving a dead stare in it’s place. 

"Zenith! It's us! Mirianna and Altran! What happened-"

"Leave. You are not targets but you will be if you do not leave."

This took the fuel out of Mirianna's speech leaving her desperate. "But...but you're...you're Zenith. Our love. You went missing over 3 years ago. Please tell me you remember!"

Altran's steady hand kept her from running over and grabbing the man. Even still, he looked on imploringly. As the years passed there was no way he could forget his lovers face. Even as emotionally detached as this. "Please...tell us you remember."

"I am the Midnight Silence. You have received warnings. Leave now or die."

Mirianna shook her head and burst forward faster than Altran could restrain her. She made it to Zenith only to be grabbed roughly. An arm ,so reminiscent of the way Zenith would embrace her, wrapped around her neck before she could stop it and the cold barrel of a gun was pressed to her temple.

"No!" Altran gasped as he held his hands up in surrender. "Please. Let her go. We'll leave. We'll leave." He practically begged. He wouldn't be able to cope seeing his love being killed by the other. "We made a mistake. Please."

Mirianna's breathing was frantic and tears flooded her eyes. "Zenith, my love. Please. Don't do this!"

"My name is Ryscex. I am the Midnight Silence. You leave. Or die."

He pushed the woman away with titan strength and she skidded across the ground. Altran's arms wrapped around her to help her up. "Let's go."

"Altran we can't! It's him! It's Zenith! We can't leave him!" The poor girl was hysterical. Tears and sobs shaking her form as she looked back at the assassin. He had already turned and begun stalking away.

"That isn't our Zenith. We have to go. Regroup. Come up with a plan." Altran assured heading in the opposite direction.

"H-How?"

"We get help from someone who’s known Zenith even longer than we have.”

"Do you mean...?"

"Attack.”

Meet Sarah. I adopted this cute and sexy canine gal from Mirianna

She was a fitness instructor at the gym Madison and Rebecca used to go to before switching over to Katherine's. The 3 were quite friendly with each other and when Katherine mentioned looking o hire a few more trainers Madison and Rebecca made her an offer.

So uh. Finished probably the most striking of the sploon gf bunch.

So, again, no name yet because I suck at those, but here's... her!

She's the child of an Inkling and a King-level Salmonid, who had a rough time on her own before meeting the rest of the group. Despite her formidable appearance, she's a big softie and doesn't really cause much harm... deliberately anyways, that tail is hard to keep track of.

As you can see with Miri for scale (who, reminder, is over 10 feet tall herself), this girl is uh... yeah she's a big'n.

Admittedly I was back and forth between this design being too weird and not weird enough, but honestly! Content with the end result!

some gameplay explanations.

Most of the time I try to hide the game interface, but some things can not be hidden. Sometimes you'll see elements in the pictures I can't hide.

I realised not everyone plays the game, so I'll explain some stuff about it here.

In the game, you only control the Sims in your household. In this case that is Marianna, Becca and Loki.

Other Sims like Nea and Kitty can be interacted with by my Sims, but they can reject interactions and tend to live a life of their own away from the played household.

The Sims have two different relationship bars; friendship and romance

In this image in the bottom right we can see his relationship with the members of the LDF (the Loki Defence Force).

his friendship is green with all three of them, he likes them. The more a relationship bar fills up, the better friends those Sims are.

Like here, with Marianna and her friends. She is better friends with Nea and kitty then Loki right now. No wonder, he just met them!

if a romantic relationship forms between two sims a second bar appears underneath the first bar and it will be pink.

If either bar is red, that is bad and the relationship is negative.

you can see that here in a screenshot from a previous playthrough that did not go as well:

While I tell the Sims in my household what to do, I can not control how they react.

Even within the household, Sims can reject social interaction by themselves. Loki could have refused Marianna's hug after stargazing and it would have affected their relationship negatively.

Part of whether a Sim sees an interaction as a positive or negative thing depends on their relationship status. The Loki above would spurn any of Marianna's advances!

Going back to our current playthrough, Marianna and Loki still see each other as friends. If one tried to kiss the other romantically, it would slightly drop their friendship. they aren't at that stage yet!

If one would start casually flirting with the other, however, the other might be open to that, and as their romantic relationship level grows, they'll be more open to other romantic interactions.

another thing that affects a Sim is whether their needs are being met.

We see Marianna's needs here in the bottom right corner.

As you can see, they are all green. The diamond above her head is green as well to indicate that. If it turns yellow, it means one of her needs isn't being met. If it's red, they have a need that has to be seen to urgently. In case of hunger, your Sim could die if you don't!

If a Sim is too tired, too hungry, or too desperate for the bathroom, they might not be in the mood for a make-out session either!

Here we see Marianna is hungry. Her bar is yellow and so is her plumbob. It's a good thing she's got a bowl of stew!

The last thing that affects a Sim is their traits. here we see Loki's traits:

I pick these when I create a sim. this affects their personality.

Loki's traits are the following:

Loki is a rather complicated person with several mental health issues that affect his daily life.

We saw earlier that his bond with Marianna is affecting him. As they grow closer, he becomes more uncomfortable, as we see here in the bottom left:

He now has +3 Tense, which will affect his interactions.

he is also still suffering from a manic episode, which makes him energetic:

and being Smug affects not just those around him, but Loki himself as well:

I can place Sims in situations, but I have little control over how a Sim reacts to them! This makes for a lot of fun!😁

Another thing i should explain is wishes or wants:

In the bottom left corner we can see Mirianna has two things she'd like to do: tell a joke and chat with Nea. I can choose whether I let my Sim do those or not. If they do'nt fulfil their wants, they get a negative mood from feeling unfulfilled. But I don't have to do all of them.

Loki wanted to stargaze with Marianna, and afterwards, she wanted to hug him. I decided to let them do that to see what would happen and it worked out great!

Sometimes it can be hard when trying to tell a story.

Getting multiple Sims together can be awkward, especially when some of them aren't in the household, like Kitty and Nea.

To make my life easier, I formed a club for them, the LDF:

Marianna is the leader and she can call a club meeting. when she does, all members will show up.

This is how I got the four of them at the same coffee shop:

I chose the symbol of the cup of coffee as their club icon. it appears while they are in a club meeting and I have no way of hiding it.

I can invite two more members, and as the club meets more often I can unlock slots for two more. Right now, it's just the four of them!

The Green Plus means interactions the club approves of; being Friendly and being Funny. I haven't set up more and I haven't set anything we disapprove of either right now.

Even when calling a club meeting it is still hard to get Sims to do what I want for the screenshots!

It took me an hour to get them all to sit at the same table, they kept sitting at different ones 😂

Nea kept wandering off meaning they kept changing seats, and Kitty changed outfits for no reason🤣 :

Sometimes it's like herding cats and I have to keep redoing the same thing just to get a handful of good pictures! I can take two or three times as long playing through a day in the Sims because of this. It is fun to put together though. I love the story that is forming!

Oh, and one last thing: Sims speak Simmish. It is their own language that is total gibberish.

Their facial expressions and body language are out of my control, but I make up the dialogue between them, going by what I know of the various characters and how I think they'd react to their situation.

So here's a little look behind the scenes. I hope it's a bit clearer now what the elements you see mean, and what parts I control and which ones I do not.😉
