day 4 // 100dop
trying a new thing. found a pomodoro/time tracker notion template on the internet and copied it. (except i didn't really intentionally take breaks out of fear that i wouldn't be able to finish everything by the due date...but i did! 😄)
also, good sleep does wonders for the brain - i thought some things would take much longer than they actually did (in the past, they took longer, presumably because i've usually been some level of sleep deprived). so i'm sleeping early again tonight and leaving the rest for tomorrow.

THE STUDYBLR WITH KNIVES SERVER PRESENTS: *✧ 2023 Jumbo Reading Challenge ✧*
a brand new year is upon us, so what better way to celebrate than with a fresh reading challenge! this year we decided to fill the gap between our thematic challenges with our biggest challenge yet - this 25 prompt challenge will last from january to the end of december and has 5 bonus prompts to make things a bit easier. most of the prompts are also quite broad, so they encourage you to diversify your reading without being too restricting and sucking all the fun out of reading :)
RULES: -> please reblog this post if you’re participating -> for each of the prompts, read a book of your choice and cross the prompt out on the above template -> post your updates in the form of text posts, bookish photos, or anything else you come up with under the tag #studyblr w/knives reading challenge! -> the jumbo challenge will last the entire year, but as always, feel free to take however long to complete it
! be sure to hide any spoilers under the cut when posting updates/reviews, so people can avoid them if needed :)
[transcript & explanations of the prompts under the cut]
Tumblr media

Minimalist studyblr challenge week 3:1
~Find the challenge below~
Tumblr media
This was a fun storytelling workshop I attended back in 2018. Earlier in 2018 I participated in the workshop and performed my story in front of an audience at a performing arts center which was super exciting for me.

Minimalist Studyblr Challenge: Post 3
Something That Sparks Joy
Here are my Top 3
Well Lit Rooms. There's just something about light entering a room, and the dust particles swiveling around in it.
Etymology. I love figuring out where words originate from. When I read a new word, I try to break it up into simpler roots and pre/suf-fixes so as to be able to discern it's meaning.
Organising Everything. This is a true stress buster. Books catalogued by author names, pens organised in a colour scheme, other supplies neatly arranged in a drawer; at the beginning of every month, I organize everything to a new theme.

Hi everyone! I haven’t had a lot of pics to post so here are some old-ish notes, i’ve been bullet journaling a lot but don’t want to spam you with bujo pics lol
✧・゚: *✧Winter Study Challenge✧・゚: *✧
25th December - Merry Christmas! Tell us about your day!
On Christmas Day I usually just lounge around and watch movies all day, I was cuddling with my cats and watching movies so it was a great day, I also got some work done which is always a plus! ★~(◡﹏◕✿)
26th December - What do you do the day after Christmas?
The day after is a normal day for me because where I live we celebrate Christmas Eve not Christmas day, so the 26th is a normal day for us :)
27th December -  What was the best moment
I spent quality time with my niece and played with her :,)
28th December - What are you grateful for?
My family! This year has been rough and having all my family be healthy is the best gift.
29th December - Christmas or New Years
Definitely New Years because I usually get dressed up and go out with friends, not this year tho :( (thx covid)

December 2 || What is your favourite thing about winter?
Snooooow!!! ❄️
December 3 || What is your least favourite thing about winter?
Melting snow :(
Edit: My least favorite thing about winter is going back to my empty room apartment welcomed by dark and cold winds.. That’s sad shit when you’re living alone...

Day 13 - Do you have an ‘aesthetic’? If yes, what is it?
Yessssss I love looking at aesthetics and finding ones that fit my vibe atm 😄👍 I wish it was kinda more minimalist cozy with a splash of color here and there because those are just so calming to look at...buuuuut I'm terrible at maintaining organization, sticking to a single color scheme, and I think that you can never have too many fluffy blankets, baggy clothes that allow freedom of movement (ponchos and huge scarves included), stuffed toys, and snacks sooo it's more like cozy chaotic academia I guess
📷 (damn, they're not even my pictures but it's soooo hardddd to choose only one to represent each aesthetic??? 😵):
Tucked in teddies from Pinterest (they're so cute look at 'em how can you resist thatttt?!?!?! 🤗🤗🤗)
Bedroom with teddy bear from weheartit.com (huugggeee fluffy teddy bear = 👌👍 always)
Minimalist cozy from extraspace.com
Messy desk from weheartit.com

𝟷/𝟹𝟶 𝚍𝚊𝚢𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚍𝚞𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚟𝚒𝚝𝚢
Is it me? Really me? Indeed it is. For the thrilling finish of this awful semester I welcome a new friend to the family – a daily calendar from Leuchtturm, although I’m such a Moleskine girl. May we all try something new in 2021. Also returning to the DOP challenge in order to survive the chaos that is digital finals amidst a global pandemic. Help and motivation always welcome. 17 days to go. Listening to: Funeral – Phoebe Bridgers

Day 10- Tag someone whose aesthetic you love seeing on your feed.
I love the aesthetic and content of every single person I follow; honestly, there's so many blog runners in our studyblr community who motivate me to do my best, I'm genuinely upset I can't tag my entire follow list.
The two people this question brought to mind immediately were @marie-curie and @caeruleuz . I just love the vibes from their posts , they inspire me to create more (hopefully good) content!

A Little Thing About Me
2020-10-01
Hey, the name’s Zayne Ytem. However I just go by the letter Z (or 01011010) most of the time to lessen pronunciation and spelling errors. Also another reason might be because I just live the minimalist lifestyle and I don’t really like anything unnecessary for almost everything.
Tumblr media
So this is me, just casually pondering upon something in a video project. I don’t have decent photos of myself so— here you go.
I currently study in 2 separate universities for different degrees:
Bachelors in Data Science
Bachelors in Management
Altogether I might be the very first BDSM graduate for being a Bachelor on Data Science and Management. Hopefully after I finish my undergrad studies I aspire to be a lawyer, fully voluntary of course. I’m definitely not Asian and my family expects me to either be a lawyer, doctor, or engineer. Definitely not the case at all.
So, that’s pretty much it for the first day, thanks for reading and always remember:
Always strive to live the life you deserve.

Minimalist Studyblr Challenge Week 1:2
find the challenge here
Tumblr media
here are my study essentials!
1. notebook or pieces of paper (to take notes with, duh)
2. blue pen because I read that writing in blue helps you recall things better. I personally like the Zebra Z-Grip dark blue pen
3: W A T E R you need to stay hydrated while studying otherwise you get too tired or generally exhausted and it’ll be harder to study if you don’t keep yourself hydrated while studying
4: highlighter for vocab so it can stick out to me

STUDYBLR QUARANTINE CHALLENGE
🐝 Month 4 || Week 15 || Questions🐝
Sat - What’s your favorite genre of book or movie?
Mystery and thriller.
I love detectives, so Sherlock Holmes is one of my favorites.
And the emotion that a thriller gives you is amazing! So you’ll probably see me watching “As above so below” or something like that... for some weird reason, I’ve always found thriller movies inspiring.
Sun - When was the last time you climbed a tree just for fun?
I can’t remember...
But I know that I used to love doing that!
...I’ll try to climb a tree as soon as I can

Day 19 of 100.
Also Post 5 of the Minimalist Studyblr Challenge
"Post anything you like but write about what motivates you to study at the end of the day, when you’re bone tired, and it’s just you and the textbook"
1. Missing on FOMO
The first thing I do when I sit down to study is switch off my phone, because as we all know, Social Media can be so distracting. To further decrease my temptation to find out what Karen is up to, or just take a casual glance at the screen, I use apps like Offtime, Forest, Space (no this is not a sponsored post).
This prevents me from feeling tired and getting distracted from the task at hand.
2. ‎Let There Be Light
Well lot rooms are my first choice for a Study Space. I avoid warm golden lights as they tend to cause drowsiness which is counterproductive.
3. ‎Prospect of Learning
Education is something to be grateful about. I like to believe that everything I learn offers new insights to the functioning of the world, be it learning a new language- delving into the roots of communication; or treating the intriguing realms of Calculus.
4. ‎Goal Reminders
I like to use a Pacman inspired Goal Tracking System which reminds me of what I am working for, and also help me stay ahead of the tasks I want to get done.
5. Draw Inspiration From Haters
In my experience there's at least one person who doesn't believe that you possess the necessary intelligence achieve your goals. The trick is to convert the energy they put into not believing in your abilities to a positive scenario that would motivate you to put in greater effort.
6. ‎Balance is Key
Having said that, it is important to remember that while it is necessary to work, a balance needs to me maintained between the amount of time and effort you put in to studying, and the rewards and rest you take for yourself.

#2020 quarantine challenge
Week 2, Wednesday.
Take a picture of your most colourful notes.
Here they are! I try to make notes that are very functional, so I don't really have that 🎇aesthetic🎇 going for me. However, for biology, in this case Plant Biology and Agriculture, I find it very useful to make colourful notes, to understand the different parts of an organism or cell and to gain more insight in processes. For example, the double fertilisation process was quite complicated to me, but when I drew it out, it was super clear to me, and it made a lot of sense.
In the future, I'd like to incorporate colour more often, as I think it might help me to understand other subjects more easily as well.
