YouTube has issues (2023 Edition)

YouTube would never let self proclaimed predators stay on the platform, let alone keep them monetized, right?

YouTube would never be cool with someone who has kissed 12 year old fans on video stay on YouTube, right?

YouTube would never keep people on the platform that threatened black women on camera, saying they'd bleach their skin, right?

YouTube would never give someone who paid a couple guys on Fiver to write "kill all Jews" on a sign for a YT video a custom play button, right?

YouTube would never monetize a creator that encouraged their young fans to shake their butts in their merch, right? That creator would never go to jail later, right?

YouTube would never demonetize terrorism recruitment videos, but keep the videos up, right?

YouTube would never allow groomers to be on the YouTube Kids front page, right?

YouTube would remove or at least demonetize scammers, right?

YouTube would punish a creator for doxing another creator for critiquing their videos, right?

YouTube would never tolerate grooming, harassment, doxing, or SA on their platform, right?

YouTube demonetizes your favorite creators for swearing to keep the kids safe, remember?

I will use the Chuggaaconroy situation to say that, despite the wrongdoing, we should not hold this against him until the end of time. The Completionist and Illuminaughtii situations of the past year have shown us the type of deplorable people that truly deserve to be deplatformed forever, and this just isn't one of them.

This is to say, for the comparatively (key word comparatively) minor issues like this, given time and clear genuine regret, we should give these creators another chance to create. This doesn't just go for Chugga, but past controversies like Mini Ladd and Nappy. Let them build themselves back up again, and if they even so much as send another bad message, send them back to the brig.

This post is not to downplay those hurt in any way by these creators. The things they did were terrible in their own right even if they're not as bad as the bigger bads on the internet. We just risk a worse spiral in these people if we don't leave room for rehabilitation.

We also can't see a change from them if we don't allow them the chance to do so. And if they don't decide to come back, I hope we all can wish them the best of luck on the road to recovery. There is something inherently wrong happening in these cases to lead down paths like pedophilia, so we should at least stay sympathetic and positive toward people who are actually trying to better themselves. Perhaps a "good job getting help, but don't push it" type approach could fit well here.

This post is also not here to cover for or condone Chugga's actions; I'm just using him to express a thought I've had for a while. If you disagree, that's fine too. I understand that this is a radical thought on a difficult topic.

I don’t fully know how to phrase this but I’ve been thinking about it for a little bit and the way the situation with Dream has gone down is entirely because it’s Dream. 

Think about CMC, Mini Ladd, Jikishi. Large streamers who have connections to or histories in the MCYT community are exposed for DMing and flirting/possibly sexting with underage teenagers.

In those situation, people just left them. Their fans, other streamers, their friends, everything. The only difference I can think of is that, mostly coming from their friends’ statements about private confessions, all three of these streamers ended up admitting to it. But people left them long before they did.

Also, think about streamers who have gotten false allegations. Pyrocynical, Slazo, and I’m sure many more. They went out of their way to prove that what happened was not inappropriate or true. Even then, before they proved that they had done nothing wrong, people left them! Because that’s a reasonable response to someone possibly grooming or abusing other people. 

You can always go back if they’ve proven that they’ve done nothing wrong. You can’t as easily take back siding with them and the things you may have said in that time.

These streamers, with false allegations, actually adressed what happened and made sure it was handled properly because, even if the allegations aren’t true, people are going to start spewing the most toxic, victim-blaming shit you’ve ever heard to defend their streamer. It hurts everyone. Every victim in the community, even if the allegations are fake, sees people saying these things.

Think about the streamers’ reactions to their real allegations. Most barely addressed it and left. The ones that have come back have done so to extreme criticism.

So why, if Dream has fake allegations against him, as he not even tried to disprove them? Why is his response to sue instead of simply prove that what happened wasn’t true? Even if there is a court case, even if he can’t talk about it, why has he not tried to adress the hate his community has put out towards victims? Why are his fans not waiting on the side of the victim for Dream to disprove what he’s done?

Because he’s famous enough to get away with it. Because all of these other people who were caught doing this had a fraction of his subscriber count (the largest with about 1/7th of his subscribers). Because there are always going to be people that are always going to side with him.

These are the kind of people she actively chooses to defend/surround herself with. This, while not surprising, is just actively fucked up on Lily's end.

If i had a quarter every time Lily mooches up to rapists, predators and all those kinds of fucked up people, I'd have 75¢ (as we currently stand). And that is fucking SCARY to think about.

Lily Orchard has blocked me and removed my reblog to her post, cementing that she does not care if Astrid is a self-admitted rapist and does not care if said rapist preys on her audience. At worst, she condones it, at best, she's apathetic.

MrBeast pisses me off, he’s not a god damn patron saint, he’s a millionaire with a public image to protect. Just because he gives away a couple million every now and then, he makes it all back in a week, the money means nothing. He doesn’t do nice things just because he’s nice, he does them because other people see them as nice.

His entire job is based around looking good. If he kept every cent he ever made, he’d have a lot less cents to keep. Do not put him on a pedestal. Don’t defend everything he does because he built a well in Africa or whatever. You know who else did that? Mini Ladd. I’m not saying MrBeast wants to touch kids (though I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest), but I am saying he’s not some incredible philanthropy god because he says he doesn’t.

There’s a real problem with raising celebrities above other humans. I love Markiplier, but I will abandon him on a dime if I find out he did anything. I’ve done it before. I’ve left friends because they associated with people who went against everything I am today. I’m ready to forget I even have a family the second I can live alone and out of their reach.

Okay this is just a vent session now, I digress. MrBeast should not be made out to be a hero because he doesn’t keep all his money, no one like him should. I pray on his downfall. Not harm, just failure.
