Here's some maybe controversial takes on My Hero Academia:
Spoilers under the Read More
Horikoshi has this weird thing for trying and failing to redeem abusive characters
Bakugou's character development is shit and that apology was awful
Hori is not focusing enough on Izuku, his main character, and the lack of introspection is appalling
Mineta being Hori's self-insert is disgusting and the SpaceToon version is leagues better
Dabi should not have been given ice powers
Bakugou is getting way too much screen-time and relevance, considering he wasn't even planned to be a major character
Ochako has become stale and lost any flavour after the Sport's Festival arc
Toga is not a good character
Shigaraki is not a good person. He was implied to be when he was younger, but not at the current point of time
Aizawa is a shit teacher and plays favourites with Bakugou and Shinsou
Shinsou is a lazy, quirkist asshole who likes to play Trauma Olympics despite his backstory being incredibly tame and not traumatising in the slightest
Monoma is actually really interesting and I love him
Momo's powers are being undersold majorly and Hori refuses to give her anything
All Might gets bashed way too much
Mic is the best adult around
Izuku should have either always been quirkless throughout the series or never should have given OfA away
Hori has a habit of making gory things happen for shock value and then immediately resolving them
Kaminari's quirk is OP but Hori doesn't want to acknowledge that
Eri is a plot hole and the way the heroes use her is disgusting. She should have just had a minor rewind quirk that was strengthened by Trigger, making it so she literally cannot rewind All Might to his prime, or Aizawa's eye and leg, or dead people
Mirio is amazing and I love him
Kouda is the purest boy but his hero costume is ass
People forget Iida a lot and it's saddening
Mitsuki is not abusive. She's just Asian
Inko is on a weird scale of 'supportive' and 'neglectful'
Hori lets Bakugou get away with way too much

ngl im a mineta defender until the end, now before you jump me let me explain
his behavior is obvi disgusting (lets also not ignore the fact that hori has said hes his self insert) BUT IT IS EXTREMELY EASY TO FIX!
a lot of kids and teens who have similar behaviors often have parents with the same beliefs. not to say that this is always the case but it’s more common than not
which means that they’re raised not knowing that their behavior is wrong. they see it as acceptable, and not only that, but *expected* of them
it is an extremely easy thing to rectify. of course sometimes it’s harder depending on how much the behavior has been ingrained into them, but at the end of the day it is *fixable*
he was failed by his parents for encouraging his behavior and he was failed by other adults/teachers for letting it continue
also it’s not that much of a stretch to say that he was probably heavily bullied. he has a very prominent lisp, he’s a heteromorph, and he’s extremely short. i’ve seen several ppl who hc that he has dwarfism and i definitely agree with that
aizawa doesn’t seem to give a shit because he never takes any action to try and discipline him for how he acts
also im sick of the shinso replacing mineta fics. the only good thing abt shinso replacing aoyama is that ppl don’t have an excuse to replace him.
like for the love of god it’s not that hard to simply change his character. it annoys me to no end. bc i like mineta a lot! his quirk is interesting and he has a lot of potential as a character but he’s reduced to a creepy pervert bc every shonen anime needs to have at least one 🙄
tl;dr stop bashing mineta and start bashing hori
Hi @the-jello-bowl 👋
Stop bashing Mineta and start bashing Hori... hmm. You know what? That's a sentiment I could get behind.
After all, the ultimate problem with Mineta lies in his writing.
At the start of the series, Hori wrote him too perverted with too little of any other redeeming or sympathetic quality. That impression stuck - so a lot of fans want him out of heroism and out of 1A.
This is fair because Mineta's behaviour is triggering for many people, and he could make a dangerous figure as a hero and an adult if left unchecked and if his perversions worsen.
While I understand why, Shinsou replacing Mineta is a lazy way to do take Mineta out of 1A, since Shinsou canonically hasn't shown he deserves to be in the hero class nor shown to have good interactions with 1A as a collective.
While it doesn't make his behaviour excusable, you are right when you say Mineta was failed by the adults around him. Especially his parents and Aizawa, as you pointed out, they were the ones prime positioned to fix this behaviour, yet they did not. We don't know what his parents are like for certain, but I believe his dad was likely a verbally and emotionally abusive misogynist who Mineta idolised. And we know that Aizawa fluctuates between negligence and using his hero grade weapon on Mineta as discipline... so there is no consistent messaging there. Yikes.
Instead, Hori implied Mina had to clockwork orange Mineta to stop him being a pervert which... took away Mineta's whole agency in his decision to stop being perverted. (Did his character even get better at all by his own freewill really if Mina had to do this? Will that 'brainwashing' break one day? Here is another reason to hate Hori's writing.)
Hori also doesn't expand on the things that could make Mineta sympathetic, the lisp, the possibly being bullied in the past, the likely self-confidence issues. He doesn't expand on Mineta's backstory or expand on why he wants to be a hero, really (if it was just girls, he would have quit by now, let's be real).
It is a failure in Hori's writing that he doesnt give Mineta (as a HERO student) a redemption arc where he realises just how awful he's been to the girls and vows to make up for it. This moment could have even begun because Mineta stops his perversions due to wanting to be more well-liked and like Midoriya (who he looks up to). The building blocks are there - Hori neglects them.
TLDR: Mineta is a character that could have had potential, and his quirk is interesting. He had potential for a character redemption arc, potential for an interesting backstory, too.
The reason why Mineta is hated is because Hori wastes all his potential to have a lazily written creepy pervert throughout the majority of the story.
Good traits such as Mineta's bravery only make a large appearance later, and the perversions disappear too late in the story to really salvage his popularity.
Not only that, but being a hero is a privilege, not a right. Mineta has got to show through the story as a member of 1A why he deserves to be there and why he has the character for Heroism - unfortunately Hori fails to do this for him because of the reasons I mentioned above.
A lazily written cowardly perverted character could have worked in a minor villain character, but this is instead in a member of 1A, who we are meant to root for adding to the cognitive dissonance of his character.

In the age of superpowers, ghosts aren't a popular topic of conversation. Ghosts are fictional, after all, a relic of past beliefs. But what happens when a boy is born with the ability to see ghosts? And what if said boy is quirkless? Of course, nobody cares, the lack of quirk always takes precedent. That's why Midoriya Izuku has to hide the ghosts, be scared of anyone assuming the quirkless kid is going insane. Ghosts don't exist, after all. But what happens when Izuku does get a quirk? Well, he just has another secret to keep. As secrets pile up, Izuku has to learn how to trust the people closest to him, even as the fear begins crawling up his throat. But, eventually, all that's hidden has to come to light. Izuku has to juggle new relationships, One for All, and the weird ghosts tied to the centruries old quirk. All while villains breathe down UA's neck and Izuku's home life falls apart in the midst of it.

Could you do a body swap with aizawa and fem reader? Their both pro hero’s that work at UA
Body Swapping
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
From: MHA Male Masterlist
Pairing: Aizawa x Fem Reader
Summary: You and your husband have switched bodies. how are you gonna be able to do your jobs?
Tumblr media
You woke up as usual but you felt different. When you got up and started to stretch. You noticed your outfit. You did not remember wearing this outfit to bed but here you are. You walked to the bathroom and the first thing you saw in the mirror was your husband's face. You immediately scream. Aizawa heard your voice and immediately came to your rescue. But you only heard your voice.
"Sweetheart! Is everything okay?" You looked back and saw you standing right there. "What the hell.."
"Babe is that you?" You didn't even hear your voice. It was your husband.
He took your hand and guided you to the bed and sat you down. "We were probably hit by a quirk."
"Maybe it was that villain that was outside of the school the other day. People did say he had a body-swapping quirk before we went to go fight him."
"That has to be it but how would we be able to do our jobs." By the time he looked at you, you were in the mirror checking out his butt. "My love, it is not the right time to be checking out my butt."
You two both got dressed and headed towards the school. You both would try to go the whole school day acting as each other but it was pretty hard dealing with class 1-A but you managed. When it came to lunchtime, you decided to meet up and talk about the day.
"So how was it being me." It is pretty weird hearing yourself out of your body.
"Eh, it was great but your class is very fun to be around. How about being me?"
"I can manage."
Tumblr media
How he was in class: You just go over with people about their hero names and types of departments they can go to.
In your class he was sipping his coffee while hearing everyone say what name they want to be their hero name.
If you are super nice, they would be shcoked at how Aizawa as you was just bashing their names right in front of them while sipping coffee.
If you are sort of rude or just very blunt, they would think it is just the same old teacher.
They would notice something up due to the way he acts. He acts far different from you so they would either think you had a bad day or you had to fight a villian.
Tumblr media
How you was in his class:
If you are sweet, they thought he got hit with a villian quirk. Because you was nice to everyone but mineta. Some of the students wished you would stay after figuring out that you and your husband switched bodies. You would braid hair with momo. And overall a nice class for tou
If you are blunt or rude or just don’t do anything, they would think he is the same person. With a little suspicion.

Which MHA centric tropes do you think is overused and not utilized well for its intended purposes or that the writers in questions just don't think about it?
Dadzawa, for example, is used to make Aizawa into a better teacher since he does absolutely suck in canon. What is shouldn't used for is to infantilized the 1-A students, especially Izuku, or to justify the bashing or pretending the existence of other adult characters.
Shinso-replaces-Mineta-in-1-A is used to instantly put Shinso in 1-A instead of Mineta simply because trying to write a character with perverted traits(which teenage boys would have) and using such characters can be hard. It's well known that many writers just prefer Shinso simply because he looks "hotter" than Mineta and that Mineta looks like a gremlin to them. This doesn't get to the fact the Shinso was a twig back then and likely didn't condition himself for the Entrance Exam.
Suspected UA Traitor Izuku. The original prompt was due to all of the attacks on UA, the tired Aizawa blames Izuku because of his notebooks and other situations that conveniently makes it looks like that Izuku was the traitor but Nezu and AM were on Izuku's side because they knew the truth about Izuku's situation. Now, outside of villain Izuku fics, this trope is primarily used to give Izuku angst and torture porn, on top of All Might bashing, Izuku losing all of his friends(except for Bakugo sometimes for shipping purposes), and making Dadzawa a thing even though it's Aizawa who would cause of the issues.
I've already gone on record as being strongly against Fanon!Dadzawa and the Suspected Traitor genre. Like, I have multiple posts on each of those and why they're bad.
As for Shinsou replacing Mineta, it's no secret that I've found Shinsou's preparation for UA lacking, but Mineta isn't just a character with an unfortunate deisgn--he doesn't have a personality. He's a one-note character who makes the same joke over and over again, and 'Guy Does Something Perverted And Gets Slapped' stopped being funny in the 1980s.
I've mentioned this before but the trope I hate the most that isn't here is Midoriya 'snapping' because of All Might telling him that he can't be a Hero and going from "I think that saving people is the greatest thing someone can do" (canon dialogue) to mass-murderer in about 0.5 seconds. Like, if you want Midoriya to be a Villain, there are way more interesting reasons for it.

Marinette Stans: pick apart every other characters’ flaws and list their supposed crimes. Yet these people adamantly defend her despite her aggravating flaws and actual crimes like stalking her love. Marinette is the most used mouthpiece for hypocritical protagonist morality centerpieces in negative fan content. I’m also referring to other characters’ standoms that shall not be named since those people misconstrue canon a lot. Have y’all heard of listening to the other sides? Probably not lol, guess your authority figures didn’t teach you enough values or were the bad teachers who’d tell you to never trust your opps.
Adrien and other ML characters’ fans: they’re the most levelheaded people I’ve seen so far. Thank gosh there are blogs and sane people here defending these misunderstood and heavily bashed folks! They deserve better than the crazy Marimites ruining things and shielding her!
Danny Fenton/Phantom stans: while thankfully nowhere as bad as the Marimites, it’s so annoying that they portray Danny as the poor abused defenseless child in several Xover fics. Or just this picture perfect bachelor for the ladies even though he’s technically average looking as a teen. Same goes for other main characters of other franchises/series who can clearly fight back even if they’re normal humans.
Murder apologist Stans: “But these characters actually have standards and skills unlike the liars, abusers and creeps! Give them a lighter sentence!” Coughs* The toxic side of the MHA fandom who would still excuse Stain, Dabi and Shigaraki for their criminal actions but not Endeavor or Mineta who are technically on the heroes’ side. I mean, at these stans ain’t as bad as the Marimites to a certain extent? The subject matter is more serious than petty school drama after all.
Hmm maybe if the mites don’t see the other side, they can continue walking and hopefully fall off a cliff lol.

I've just had a thought of something - would anyone be totally shipping Togachaco right now if canon events all occurred yet Toga was gender swapped?
See this is something that's been bothering me because a lot of fans brush over Toga's creepy behaviour because of the "queer representation" or parallels they can see. But they should be pissed that this (I.e Toga's serial killing, making orgasmic faces while drinking blood - which she views as intimate as kissing so there's a consent issue there) is what they get.
If those 'representation moments' weren't there and it was male!Toga doing things like grabbing Ocha's breast as leverage I feel like he would get tonnes more hate.
Just look at how Mineta is hated (rightfully) for grabbing the 1A girls breasts without their consent vs Toga doing the same to Ocha and *crickets*.
What are your thoughts?
Knowing how unpredictable this fandom can be sometimes, I'm honestly not sure. Though I'm more than willing to figure that out.
In my post talking about my Midnight Bashing fic, I said that the double standards would be obvious if Midnight was a guy flirting with his students. So there is a possibility that people would be a little more critical and getting onto how Toga acts if she was a guy.
And it seems like the reason why people are so lax about this is because of the fact that she's bi, which as we know that the representation in this series is not good at all.
Because the trans character we see is on the villain side and was killed off just to prop up Overhaul as a big bad, Rock Lock was literally seen in the wrong for actually caring about the kids to where people literally made jokes about other characters stop supporting the BLM movement, Miruko... enough said, and the whole anti mutant subplot that was barely built up at all.
THAT'S how pitiful all this "Representation" is. People are so thirsty to see representation in media that they probably don't care as long as it's somewhere, not saying everyone, but my point stands.
But for final thoughts, yeah, I do feel like if Toga was a guy doing this he would get more hate and that people are okay with this because "LGBT rep"

I don't get the hate all might recieves from this fickle fandom while Aizawa gets praised over the moon.
Yes All might have told izuku to give up first but I don't see anything wrong now or even when I first watched season 1. The man has more experience and has already seen his fair share of cruelty over the years. He knows the difficulty of being a Hero with a quirk and even with all of that power, It took him losing his stomach to beat AFO. All might was being realistic here. He didn't want to be reckless & give false hope or encouragement here. Also he didn't laugh or outright tell him to quit. He told izuku who had no power to try other ways to become a Hero which was being a policeman.
2nd what did izuku do before meeting all might?. Absolutely nothing. On top of being quirkless He didn't have a strong physique to back it up. Sure he wrote analysis on quirks, heroes and villains but that's not gonna help in the longer run. All Might wouldn't know what Izuku would've gone through in life till this point. He doesn't know izuku was suicide baited. I'm not bashing Izuku but trying to see this from AM's side as well. Maybe he could've seen Izuku's behaviour to determine that the kid was abused but then again the man was also in a hurry and probably wasn't in the right frame of mind after displaying his long kept secret to a middle school kid.
Still All Might fckin apologized for his earlier comments and approved Izuku. He helped izuku get in shape, and gave his quirk. Encouraged him time and time again positively.
Wtf did Aizawa do? Ridiculed Midoriya infront of everyone. Never apologized. Never once supported him and always put izuku's abuser on a pedestal. Heck izuku should've been in top 10 in the apprehension test. He had better physical stats than Denki, Jiro, uraraka ( yeah she wasn't OP with her quirk during that time and had a lot of stamina issues), Koji, Mineta, Toru, Ashido to name some. Are we sure Aizawa didn't rig the exam?. Narrative protected that POS. Never once encouraged Izuku, never helped him when he was struggling with his quirk. Never even bothered to train his students in quirkless combat but went out of his way to tutor Shinso. His only good points are being a good hero and a good gaurdian for Eri but that ain't enough for getting this much praise. He knew Iida was going after Stain but didn't do anything.
All Might has flaws being a teacher but he at least tries his best to help Izuku with his problems and always been there for him. He encouraged his students every time. Trains them and has always been there for them unlike a certain someone.
All of All Might's good points outweigh Aizawa's by a higher margin.
End of my rant, i just see this as too unfair how fanfics bash All might for no fuckin reason while it coddles Aizawa. Especially the Dekuverse fics. Heck Hori himself treats All Might like shit in canon. The Izuku solo arc is a good proof.
All Might deserved better both in Canon and in Fanon.
Hi @bakutrash 👋,
I get it in the sense that the fandom follows suit of what the story itself is doing - AM gets critiqued more than Aizawa by the narrative (since Aizawa is Hori's favoured mouthpiece) and the fandom follows suit.
Dadzawa as a trope is also largely wish fulfilment. The wish to see 1A as a family and the wish to see Aizawa as the 'stern mentor/ father figure with a heart of gold' archetype. When Aizawa is not this - especially not to Izuku.
If anything All Might is Izuku's key mentor / father figure in the story. He made his mistakes in regard to Izuku but made up for them and apologised. AM also does his best to learn how to be a teacher and be supportive to Izuku and take care of him. Aizawa never does and Hori parades all of his actions as logical so the fandom (at large) doesn't critique him for them.
All Might is traumatised but Hori rarely focuses on it (unlike Aizawa's trauma), so it gives him less sympathy and exploration from it by the fans.
All Might fought a battle only his power in OFA could win. It was quirkless Izuku acting to save Bakugou that made All Might aware that Izuku had potential and that he shouldn't have been so hasty to judge him. All Might also didn't know Izuku took to analysis and suggested alternatives to heroics he felt more suited to a quirkless person.
Adding to this, All Might also began Quirkless himself so it's unlikely he would actually hold extreme Quirkist views like I've seen in some bashing fics (actually looking at Canon Aizawa displays more quirkest attitudes than All Might*.)
Yet the majority of the fandom focuses on All Might's intial refusal of Izuku's dreams and scapegoat him for Izuku's lack of self worth. - The narrative does this too, disgustingly through Bakugou's mouth, not acknowledging once that Bakugou and poor Teachers to Izuku (like Aizawa) are the cause of it.
Did Aizawa rig the exam? I think (and a lot of others critical of Aizawa) think he did. As you rightly pointed out Izuku should have been higher in the quirk apprehension test than he did (especially since he trained religiously and followed a training plan made by the Number One hero for months!)
Unironically, Aizawa at the beginning of the story seemed to dislike Midoriya, and consistently he has favoured Bakugou over him (more on this point later.)
He also viewed Bakugou's bullying as a "rivalry."
Why is this?
Other than the actual reason - Aizawa is Hori's Mouthpiece and therefore have him be Bkg's biggest simp to try to make us like him - there are two options.
1) Aizawa is either not as observant as he thinks he is (supported by him falling asleep all the time - so obviously by doing this he would miss things.) 2) OR Aizawa is malicious and thinks Midoriya needs to toughen up and deal with his bully like he did.
Neither of these options make Aizawa look particularly good. But 1) has room for growth and 2) does not.
Where is the logic in the Quirk Apprehension test? It favours those quirks that Aizawa claims he dislikes that the entrance exam favours - those flashy and combattive quirks such as the ones that belong to Bakugou, Todoroki and Yaoyorozo.
Additionally, singling out Izuku like that, on the first day would be realistically massively damaging to a student and to the classes morale overall.
Would you be comfortable with a 'third parent' (as these homeroom teachers are meant to be) or a teacher in general who does that to a classmate or to you the second they show they need some help? I wouldn't be...
Where is the logic in favouring Bakugou (who essentially a worse version of Aizawa's bully at U.A - Sensoji) or Shinsou who didn't work for his dream of Heroism and only attempted to skate in on his powerful quirk? These should both be characters that Aizawa (from what we are narratively told about him) dislike. Yet Hori does not allow this to occur as Aizawa is Hori's favoured mouthpiece and Hori wants him to have a mini me in Shinsou.
*- There appears to be a degree of quirkism ironically at play here. Bakugou is favoured because he is confident and has a quirk that is "perfect for heroics".
Whereas Shinsou is favoured because Aizawa sees someone like himself. The other students - Aizawa isn't shown to care all that much (aside from the additional to the story artworks.)
And as for Eri, Aizawa seems to care for her but honestly we don't see her nearly enough to judge whether he's actually a good guardian. There's also the fact of Aizawa seeming to struggle to take care of himself and how he treats his students so realistically, would he be a good guardian to her?
In universe, in spite of all logic, Aizawa has apparently been teaching as 'hardass ExpellZawa' for years without consequence - against himself or UA as an institution .
And Aizawa has never once reflected on the long term damage that all of his trauma response methods would do on all his students - not just the ones he expelled.
Hori never even had Aizawa question himself at any point - because the fact that he's Hori's mouthpiece means Aizawa is never meant to be wrong so he never believes himself to be. That stunts him as a character.
Even the revelation of Kurogiri as KurOboro didn't make him do this.
Aizawa, as he is in canon, is heavily traumatised, too set in his ways and too much of a mouthpiece for Hori. Hori also either doesn't see the point of or the interest in having Aizawa grow from his mistakes and heal from his trauma - which is a shame.
Whereas All Might, as he is in canon, is also heavily traumatised, has been crapped all over by Hori but is shown to do his best in learning and growing from his mistakes - both as a teacher and mentor to Izuku.
Final thoughts:
Sorry I responded with a rant of my own!
Personally, I find Dadzawa fine in a fic, as long as it has DadMight too OR has Aizawa make up for his mistakes to the class and grow as a mentor.
However, as time has gone on and I've got more into MHA, I find it really irritates me to see a fic bash All Might. Especially using Aizawa to do so, when in canon Aizawa has done much worse as a teacher - especially to Izuku and his past classes.
I stand by the opinion that although Canon!Aizawa may care for Class 1A as he currently acts - he should not be a homeroom teacher or have his trauma responses be praised as 'logical teaching.'

So a while back I was talking about a quirkless Deku’s fighting style. Now I have a strong urge to talk about everyone else in his class in this AU. This will mostly be story changes but in some characters’ cases there will be entire personality overhauls.
Yuga Aoyama: We’re keeping the whole (Redacted) thing but now he’s even more conflicted about it as he sees Izuku do well without a quirk.
Mina Ashido: She is literally the exact same. No complaints. Love her to death.
Tsuyu Asui: She’s good.
Tenya Iida: Stain actually manages to get away in this AU and acts as a wild card for the rest of the series, working with whoever best suits his ideals in the moment. Tenya still wants to murder him in cold blood but attempts to hide that fact from everyone who would get in his way.
Ochako Uraraka: keep her pretty much the same pre sports festival. After her fight with bakugo, she realises that being a rescue hero still often requires confrontation. Instead of just going for martial arts like the manga, she realises that the main issue was that she couldn’t get close to bakugo without being blasted. The solution? A giant fuckoff suit of armor with holes for her fingertips replaces her original hero outfit. Her quirk’s endurance is trained so that she can stop the extra weight from impeding her movement. Also just involve her more. I miss her.
Mashirao Ojiro: Him and Izuku are actually pretty close since Ojiro considers his quirk underwhelming and has been bullied in the past for it.
Denki Kaminari: As we’re changing Mineta entirely, he will no longer be his accomplice in his pervy schemes. Instead; we shall take Brock from Pokémon’s gimmick and have him flirt (poorly) with most new women he meets, then either get interrupted or promptly rejected. This is a recurring thing with hagakure.
Eijirou Kirishima: Same as canon. It’s hard to improve on perfection.
Koji Koda: I genuinely don’t know what to do with him.
Rikido Sato: Same as Koji.
Mezo Shoji: emo.
Kyoka Jiro: also emo. They’re besties with shoji. Also has a crush on Momo but refuses to tell her.
Hanta Sero: Tape boy acts as class clown and is izuku’s study buddy. They compare how he uses his quirk to Deku’s support items and vice versa.
Fumikage Tokoyami: Goth. Jiro and him have a bitter rivalry but will band together if someone says they’re both goth or emo to correct them (sometimes violently).
Shoto Todoroki: Same as canon- though he could have another running gag of doing things exclusively to piss off his dad.
Toru Hagakure: Sweet and Bubbly with a gag of being considered the hottest girl at school. Think Lucy from OG Dracula pre vampirism. Also for peace of mind, we’re giving her a hair suit like Mirio. She’s a high schooler come on guys.
Katsuki Bakugo: He’s the exact same at the start but his arc is a bit different. The longer he stays at UA, the more his strength based worldview starts to crumble. The character most involved in this arc of his is endeavor. Bakugo starts to quickly notice how the number 2 hero, while solving more crimes, is still only the number 2 hero because of his lack of friendliness and cooperation. After he stops being an ableist piece of shit, he’s still an asshole. Like he’s still very angry all of the time but he cares a lot about his friends and stops other people from acting like he did.
Minoru Mineta: He is very different. First of all he’s a strategist above all else, using his quirk in interesting ways like setting traps and attaching them to ropes to pull people away from danger. Secondly, he still has a perverted side, but is way less of a creep about it. He’s respectful and normal about women, if a bit awkward and bashful. When Deku first enters his dorm he’s genuinely shocked to see the absurd amount of hentai he has under his bed. Finally he’s one of Deku’s best friends. It’s funny and they both share a love of heroes, tactical minds, and a history of bullying.
Momo Yaoyurozu: Better costume obviously (hair suit like Mirio or something) but also just More Of Her. Come on. She’s great and underutilized.

If we're talking about tropes we dont like, I'm really not a fan of Extreme Bakugo Bashing, where he actively tries to kill Midoriya, becomes a villain, or engages in... morally repugnant behavior. Bakugo's an ass, I'm not going to contest that, but some people take it way too far, where he feels worse than Endeavor at points.
Related, but I don't like the Abusive Mitsuki/Masaru tags, but more people have complained about them so I won't.
I mean, there was the one murder attempt, but only the one--not only that, but Bakugou isn't even the only character who is depicted way more harshly early on than they are later, even accounting for character development.
Aizawa's expulsion bullshit had to be retconned later it was so bad.
Endeavor's depiction in the internship arc has way more depth than the single-note aggressive/possessive jackass who appeared in the Sports Festival a single arc before
Shinsou was pretty much straight-up Quirkist in the Sports Festival.
Mineta and Kaminari never pull anything like the cheerleader stunt ever again.
I'm sure given time I could find more examples as well. A lot of characters early in the series are way more extreme than they are later.
But the thing about Bakugou specifically is that the bashing fics tend to miss the point. They present a Bakugou who actually does think he is the hottest shit since sliced bread and not someone whose lashing out at everything perceived as a threat to his worldview which is based entirely on strength--strength he does not actually believe he possesses. It has none of the insecurities or fears that define him
