i've been thinking about The Kiss™ all week. as the music swelled, i could feel it about to happen. wolf crossed the street, and all i could think was "what if that's not josh?"
but wolf was so certain~ his face was so open, alight with hope and determination. it felt reckless and brave... and inevitable.
all i can think about now is the careful attention it must take to memorize someone by everything but their face.
how closely would you have to study someone to truly *see* them?
how can you know someone's small details by heart? memorizing the slope of their jaw, exactly where they part their hair, the size & shape of their hands? how their collar pops or is tucked away, what shoes they wear? how they stand while waiting for their coffee on a street corner? how often do we look at someone and only see their face, not taking in the essence of the whole person?
how carefully would you have to study someone, with awe and wonder, to know them so deeply that you could find them in a passing glance?
how many of these questions do you think wolf had to answer in that small window of time to truly know the man he was about to kiss?

dalish, mage, and a veil jumper cause I'm a basic bitch with basic tastes lmao. also I know she looks sad and serious in this pic but her REAL personality is encapsulated in this screenshot:
Tumblr media
head empty 😌 heart full 🙌 she's just a little golden retriever with too much curiosity and WAY too much youthful optimism for her own good. she's not that smart but she likes exploring! and puzzles! and she's not gonna think too much about this whole evil gods situation thanks!! just doing her best!!!
and also. ALSO. 👀 Solas is one hundred percent manipulating her and molding her into a leader in his own image. she doesn't see it but I do and I am Looking with popcorn in hand 👀🍿

"hyacinth, i do not think penelope can breathe" → "i cannot breathe" + the clock chiming after penelope passes out, ergo.... she does indeed actually stop breathing.

Hello!! I'm a teenager and I recently fell in love with Jane Austen's books. Just wanted to tell you a funny story. Sometimes I read a book having no idea what it's about. Being a teen, and kind of living under a rock I think, I didn't know what Pride and Prejudice was about. I didn't even know Elizabeth would end up with Darcy. So, when i bought it, just cause I've heard the name around and thought it was cool, I've found myself PART of the drama that was going on in that book. I didn't know who to believe I WAS SO INVESTED, and I trusted Darcy for the majority of the book because I was like "Everyone saying he's a bad person but we never actually saw him doing bad things????" . Me and my best friend were even arguing cause he believed he was a bad person (he didn't know pride and prejudice either). Yeah that's cool. I've read Persuasion too without knowing what it was and I was SHOCKED when she ended up with her old man. Like what??? Anyway yeah that's the funny story. What do you think about blind-reading a book? PS. sorry for my bad english, and I love your blog! xx
Hello Teenager Jane Austen Fan!
I read Emma, Sense & Sensibility, and Persuasion blind when I was a teenager. I remember being disappointed in Emma (I won't tell you why because it's a spoiler) and not liking Persuasion at all (I thought Anne was old and boring, shame on me). I think part of my problem is that I read them for English Lit class so I didn't have time to enjoy them. I cannot remember what I thought of Sense & Sensibility.
I read both Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey as an adult and without knowing the ending. I was totally gripped by Mansfield Park and shocked by how it turned out! At first I thought it was just a repeat of Pride & Prejudice but boy was I wrong.
It's so nice that you read Pride & Prejudice without knowing the ending. And you were very perceptive about Darcy! I saw the 2005 movie first and Wickham totally took me in.
Thanks for the ask and the compliment! And your English is totally fine :)

hi mars i think we should be best friends ajsjdjdjdsns ive reread mind blind so many times this year and always hyperfixate on it and on rosy and i wanna hear about ur button and ur reaction to 👀 - ambrosykim (dont have to answer this if u dont wanna ofc! <3)
yes please bestie i need people to scream about rosy with!! his romance is soooo sick and twisted but also so deep and genuine i love it x
personality-wise, the best way to describe spencer is that one scene where rosy basically describes her (and the MIVs) as “manipulative, underhanded, and possessing flexibly utilitarian ethics,” and she’s like: “i prefer the description ‘astute, deliberate, and ethically nonjudgmental.’” she’s a greasy rich girl who loves luxury but doesn’t brush her deep fried platinum blonde hair. she’s suuuper innovative and very confident. she loves being an MIV and hates being pitied (which is why she falls so hard for rosy ofc)
i just made her a fake insta this morning muahaha

Thinking about Checkmate, really feel like I'm digesting the ending over a period of time. Part of what I'm sort of wrestling with is the decision to basically be like "yay Francis's headaches are cured temporarily by reducing stress/cured for real with a bonk." Dorothy Dunnett is a writer who lets very few things go without consequences - so why this, especially since it's such a major plot line of the last book and a half? (Did she finally feel bad for shaking her blorbo around too much lol /j)
