I went to ep.6 to make some gifs and accidentally took this screenshot where the wall brazier made a funny thing and gave Sauron a fire crown. Very fitting

If Sauron just wanted an "assistant" and a "figurehead" who would let him do everything he wanted while happily doing his bidding, Mirdania was a much better pick than Galadriel.
I mean, It's always about what "Sauron wanted", but it's never "how Galadriel would have reacted". If he seriously believed that Galadriel would have been okay with being a powerless puppet, then he was even more delulu than I thought lmao Unlike him, Galadriel's not a follower. If she had taken his offer in season 1, she would have fought to get what he promised, I have no doubt about that !
Mirdania, on the other hand, was so easy to manipulate. That's why I wonder if he didn't consider making her, probably not his queen, but what Charlie said : his assistant/PR/figurehead... We all saw him manipulate her to isolate Celebrimbor and make him more vulnerable to his abusive techniques, which was definitely what Sauron was doing with her, partly at least.
Yet, before Mirdania put on the ring and passed in the Unseen world, he didn't care at all about her. She was trying to be friendly with him, and he just stood like... "Is this an insect on my back ?"
Tumblr media
But after Celebrimbor put the ring off her finger, that was his reaction when she said what she saw :
Tumblr media
Ohh suddenly Mirdania became interesting to him. Because she had been there. Suddenly, he was all over her, even a little too much over her (get your hands off her you creepo!!) :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think there were many things in this gesture, which is weird even by his own standards; Sauron's a man of words, he seldom touches people to manipulate them.
1st meaning : he was manipulating her : the most obvious meaning. But he had already gotten into her pants when he compared her to "the lady Galadriel", there was no real need to touch her like that.
2nd meaning : he was thinking of Galadriel : ship or don't ship Haladriel, but Mirdania was totally meant to be Galadriel's stand-in: she was blond, with an identical hairstyle, and she wore an almost identical green dress to the one Gal wore in Eregion. And Sauron immediatly noticed it when she came to meet him the first time. Look at how he's looking at her from feet to head, then start immediatly flirting with her :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, Sauron likely got carried away by his obsession for Galadriel when he touched Mirdania's hair, here.
3rd meaning : maybe, maybe, he started thinking that Mirdania could indeed provide a replacement for Galadriel, in his plans.
Then there was this scene :
Tumblr media
Another unnecessary touching. An intimate one that is, look at what he's doing ! We never saw him touch anyone like this before, not even for manipulation sake. It felt like he was trying to feel something. Something in relation to his obsession for Galadriel, again : if he couldn't get Galadriel, maybe Mirdania could do ? But then his face looked like... Not convinced. Not convinced at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later in that same episode, Sauron created an illusion for Celebrimbor where Eregion was doing fine so he would go back to work. After Celebrimbor left (so the illusion was no longer needed), this scene involving a Galadriel lookalike and a faceless man (likely to be a self-insert) telling her these words took place, and caught his attention :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think it's when he realized that there could be no replacement for Galadriel. He didn't want a pretty submissive Elf girl who would be only perfect for the PR and the paperwork, he wanted the fiery Galadriel who wanted his death.
I mean, it makes Mirdania and Sauron's last interaction easier to understand; he was back at being cold and uncaring, while he was not done with Celebrimbor yet ! He could have still needed to manipulate her, and yet he just looked annoyed when she reached for his hand :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't know about you, but the moment I saw the way he looked at her I thought, "oh Mirdania dear, you're so dead". I think it's the moment he decided she was disposable, because whatever project he had for her was cancelled. This cold cynical bastard even told her she would be "duly rewarded".
We all know what came next :
Tumblr media
(R.I.P. Mirdania, sorry, really)

Everyone keeps telling Galadriel "oh he's in your mind" blah blah but SHE is the only one who keeps consistently clocking his plans ... "he wants us to go in this forest" "he wanted you to bring this army here!" and no one listens to her

Rings Of Power 2X06
spoilers below cc @nocompromise-noregrets when you’ve seen
thank you Ulmo once again proving that you and Varda hold the Valars collective brain cell(s), especially re messaging delivery like THANK YOU KINDLY.
that is so much Elendil whump SO MUCH like THE POTENTIAL. Also he and Queen Of My Heart Miriel get married and they are both FINE ACTUALLY. They have three daughters running around.
Miriel really really just…I adore her so much. Her faith, her heart and the way she will absolutely be the best kind of leader and also that she and Elendil are shoving each other out of the way like NO I’M RISKING DEATH FOR THE GREATER GOOD. Love them. Love their decency.
(Listen Ar Pharazon is in love with Elendil sorry not sorry I am going with this (in text they were quote great friends in their youth I’m going with it, Pharazon is just hella jealous/possessive).
Galadriel really continuing the family tradition of getting chained up by the hand :(. (Also her desperate heartbroken pleading to Adar because she’s seen the awful shape of the trap and actually, despite everything she does not want this, does not want more people to fall to Sauron (yes even Orcs, I think).
Mairon really got stabbed with his husbands crown I think that’s hilarious frankly also…Adar it didn’t exactly work. I mean kind of. Temporarily. But I get why you’d think it.
(I am sad they don’t have Silmarillion Rights because there’s so so much amazing lore work here love that for me).
Sauron really gaslight, gatekeep, girlbossing horrifyingly.
In all seriousness it’s Awful. It’s abusive relationship (romantic) and possessiveness and using and I can feel it in my bones and the thing is, the thing is he’s using Celebrimbors ambitions yes - but overridingly it’s the desire to do good, to redeem his family name as well and :((((((((.
Charlie(s) plural are doing amazing but also CHARLIE VICKERS HOLY FUCK HOLY FUCK. He is a maia somehow. He is alluringly horrifying and you can see exactly how Sauron is so competent, so very very dangerous and why he came so very very close to winning in the end.
Charlie II is breaking my heart because, G-d his abuser can literally manipulate reality and there’s so so little he can do (we know he won’t give Sauron what he wants despite all the pain, we know it but it’s still breaking me).
DISA MY BELOVED DISA (her singing, can we just discuss that oh my G-d. Also that Prince Durin looked that Fuck Ass Maia in the face and went ‘…fuck off’ BEAUTIFUL.
Harfoots very cute fyi (also party tree origin story?)
Still not mentioning Luthien’s name because Sauron too terrified out of his mind. It’s why he’s hoping to not meet Elrond thank you very fucking much.
THE PREVIEW FUCK. OW. (“I don’t want you to face this alone” I just…EMOTIONAL DAMAGE)
Both reasonably sure Stranger Gandalf (which is actually a cool lore bit because Olorin did not want to go to Middle Earth, was Terrified Of It if it is) and also maybe not.
Tom Bombadil might be aspect of Eru which would track with Eru.
In conclusion get a job stay away from them really applying to a lot of people in regards to Sauron.

Quick thoughts on The Rings Of Power Episode 2x06
- What of my heart?
- The aesthetic of Númenor has been outstanding this episode. Elendil facing the court? Reminded me of a painting of the Roman Empire. The camera panning in on the location of the sea trial and then later on Elendil facing the sea with the guards on either side of him? What. A. View. Amazing.
- Quick side note. Elendil didn’t bother to get up for his daughter but as soon as his Queen enters he gets to his feet. Nice detail. Also “if you still think this is about pride, we have nothing more to say.” Wow.
- With every episode I fall more and more in love with Disa. #girlboss energy
-Galadriel, my girl… that did not go well. If it’s any consolation, Adar already had all his troops in place, I doubt anything she said truly made a difference.

Note
What do you think the whole "Where is he?" thing in the finale was about? Do you think Adar sent it knowing he was sending it to Sauron? and what did it tell Sauron exactly?
I must say this plot left me very confused. I still don't make sense of it.
We know that Adar suspected Halbrand to be Sauron for a very long time, but he needed to be sure. We also know that he killed the Elf and wrote the message on his body the same day he had Galadriel in captivity, since the "dinner scene" with Galadriel followed the scene where the body was discovered. It could be interpreted as if the two events were connected, but apparently it wasn't ?!
It was speculated at the time that Sauron had lied to Mirdania, that it wasn't written "where is he ?" on the body but something in black speech (or an old Quenya that the young Elves couldn't understand) related to Galadriel, to tell him that he had her. Galadriel hadn't told him yet that Halbrand was Sauron, but Adar strongly suspected it, so since he knew the two were close at some point, it could have made sense for him to bait Sauron with Galadriel.
Sauron's reaction to the body also seemed to hint that : he looked strangely worried, while Adar coming to Eregion with his army was precisely what he wanted.
Tumblr media
But finally, they went nowhere with that plot. Sauron didn't know that Galadriel was Adar's prisoner, or if he knew he didn't care/chose to do nothing about it because he was too busy with Celebrimbor and the forging of the Nine. We're then lead to believe that it was indeed "where is he ?" that was written on the body. It's worth noting that Redditors said it indeed said "where is he ?" in crappy Quenya.
But then I'm asking : why did Adar write the message in Quenya, if it was adressed to 'Halbrand', a man who presumably didn't speak Quenya? Why not writing it in the commun language ? It didn't make sense to address the Elves, who couldn't have understood what it was about, since of course Halbrand wouldn't have revealed them he was Sauron.... Hence why I say that this plot went nowhere.
I still suspect that something happened in the editing room, and that the scenes that explained what it was all about were cut. Because why having this scene, if it was to do nothing with it ?
The only explanation I could provide for Sauron's worried expression would be that he didn't expect Adar to come that soon, but it doesn't even match his general behavior. After he discovers the body, he seems satisfied while watching Adar's army, and the episode ends with him opening his arms.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bear McCreary said it was meant to show him as a conductor, meaning he was the one controlling what was happening. He doesn't act at all like someone who freaks out because things go too fast ! It's quite the opposite, everything falls into places according to his plan.
So, really, I don't know, anon.
