Were there any specific inspirations behind Mina (and your other Descendants OCs if you want to talk about them?) Any particular face-claims or actors you'd imagine cast as them?

No, I didn’t look at any actors or real people. I don’t think about that with any my OCs, I just picture how they look in my head like a character in a book and try to get that across through description. My process starts with a concept of their personality or backstory or role in canon or dynamics with other characters and I build their appearance from scratch to best suit the character. Face-claims just can’t capture the character as well to me. Picking one out would only be an extra step. I do imagine Mina having somewhat similar facial features to her father, like the strong jawline. It’s not perfect, but you can see the resemblance if you’re looking.

Mina’s concept actually takes a lot of inspiration from Oliver himself. Child has to survive in lonely, miserable circumstances without proper parenting or protection and many threats from their cramped urban environment and other inhabitants of it > child meets the leader of a lovable, sympathetic, underdog criminal gang, befriends them, joins the gang and earns their respect, finding new senses of belonging, pride and agency as they learn better how to make the best of having nothing > child is lifted out of these bad circumstances and taken in by Jenny Foxworth and also forms a close found family bond with her, ultimately choosing to live with her while maintaining their bond with their friends. Yeah. I thought that would be a fitting narrative for a character in a franchise so interested in legacy and history repeating and a nice affirmation that Mina truly is a Foxworth, not a Sykes, so she is following in the footsteps of her family - just not the family that those prejudiced against VKs would have thought. That irony is present in canon characters too: Jay has parallels to Aladdin, Evie to Snow White, Dizzy to Cinderella, Carlos to… a dog. To drive home that they’re good and their parents’ victims, not their parents. And from how she takes care of and plays with Oliver, Jenny would make such a good mother.

I love how some of us were laughing at the fact that Rook wasn’t chosen to come with Vil to this event. Like -

A/N: where have I been? That’s interesting- I had surprising surgery and it took all my motivation away, so I have been recovering from that….Yayyy

All weeks lead to this moment. All that time you spent putting on makeup in your mirror, saving to buy that costume, and time it spent to get it right- all came down to this moment.

“Has everyone brought a coat?” Iida shouts above your wailing classmates as they all express their excitement. It was a really nice sight to see everyone so happy and not at each other’s throats. The girls complementing one other on their costumes, taking pictures and hyping up the other. While the boys did the same, it was different. Like, some of them had fake weapons and decided to have a soft fight.

Izuku was dressed as…Of course it’s allmight but one of his old suits. He was explaining the lore to todoroki who stood there with a calm expression in a vampire outfit. It was plain, you knew he just walked into a store and then threw on whatever was in the packet. But, he looked lovely nonetheless.

“Love your costume,” a voice popped up from behind you, following with a pair of hands tugging on your outfit. Turning around you see a floating costume — Hagakure was speaking. You smile and slight shuffling away, hoping to not draw attention to leaning away from the touch.

“Thanks! It cost a lot but it was worth it!!” You shout and show it off with your hands as you giggle happily.

It took a minute to realize what she had on before your mouth started to squeak with excitement, “You’re costume is so perfect, it makes it more scary.” if she wasn’t invisible she would have turn a different shade by now. She was going as Raven from teen titans, it was cool to see it just floating and no one behind the hood.

“I also think you look wonderful” a shy but perky voice chirps. You look to the side and see koda with a shy look on his face, red tented cheeks and a avoided gaze. He was dressed up in a white lab coat, well more of a doctors coat plus all the equipment.

You giggled and reach for the bird on his shoulder who graciously allows you to pet its head, “Dr. Dolittle? A little on the nose,” as the bird pushes its head back into your hand while koda freaks out a bit, but you are quick to dismiss his embarrassment.

“Not a bad thing tho! I honestly like your costume, plus you have so many animals— it’s easily my favorite.”

Suddenly everyone went quiet, all eyes turned to you and you awkwardly shuffled. Tension filled the air and you dropped your hand from the bird who whined at the loss. “What? Why are you all staring at me?” It didn’t take but a few seconds before everyone crowned around you, pushing poor koda away before showing off their amazing costumes.

“What about me? You said you loved my costume,” Mina pouts her lips as she plays with her skirt. You quickly tried to comfort her, “So you think I look cute? Awe baby!!” She went to kiss you before Kaminari got in her place in front of you. 

“I’m a handsome devil!! Flynn Rider, from your fav Disney movie,” a week before this he begged you to be Rapunzel and even though you declined he still kept the costume. He heard you say flynn was hot, so obviously you think he’s hot now. “Don’t fight it, or the smolder.” And he pulls out the exact face flynn does in the movie….How long did he practice that?

“You helped me make the costume,” Shouji lift up his shoulders and moves is arms- he was Doc Ock. And you did help him when he asked, honestly you picked it out for him. Once you suggested it and he planned on doing what you wanted.

“I believe I get a chance to speak,” Todoroki raises his hand amongst the crowd before people talk over him.

They are all shouting now, each one of them getting pushed, many hands tried to grab you, and yet when they tried to kiss you or flirt it went over your head because something else was happening.

“Everyone stop yelling!” A loud and annoyed voice echoes over everyone, making the whole class stop and straighten up. You sigh in relief, thanking your teacher in your mind for saving you. “Everyone pay attention, you have two hours to complete this area. Who ever gets the most candy wins.”

As usual, The Dekusquad pair up, along with the Dakusquad and the more chill ones group together. “What do we win?” Denki asks while everyone nods.

“Two tickets to see F/B.” Mic pops out of nowhere and announces the prize. You let out a streak of excitement and everyone turns.

“I’m winning this thing!” your obsessed classmate glare at each other, there was only one way to get this right- is to make sure you win! Or, win themselves and take you — either way they wanna play tug of war for your attention.

Everyone including you lined up at the gates and you noticed a timer above the arch. It looks real, you think as you stare at the fake town in front of you. It was to dangerous to have the whole school in the city when you guys seem to have targets on your back, so they built a whole small city inside the USJ!! You heard that some parents are here, actors and even pro!heros who have the time to spare.

As the clock counted down in the tenths you started to fiddle, same as your classmates while getting impatient. “Good luck everyone! Sorry if I happened to get competitive.” you shout just before the time loudly goes off.

You expected to get trampled over so you started to run but the area around you changed.

You were in the middle of the street!! Fake houses to your every turn, Halloween decorations in the small yards. “What hero can transport?” it was a question that you shake off before heading to the house on your left.

Somewhere in the distance your classmates cause hell to find you, and get as much candy as they can to win.

“Two lollipops? What are you, cheap?” Katsuki yells at the old lady who opened the door, his friends awkwardly shuffling in the back. Kirishima tugged him by the back collar away from the lady and back to the path.

“Can’t yell at people man! What would y/n say? So unmanly.” kats just huffs at his best friend and pulls away from his grip. All things considered they have been doing well, their bags are getting full and heavy.

“Look who I found?” A feminine voice speaks out, making the boys turn back around. They see you tripping over your shoes as Mina gives you a little nudge closer.

“Mina,” you whine, “I love hanging out but I have to win! This is F/S we are talking about here, I would sell my soul to get tickets.” You try to stray away from them but they block you.

“We can woke together! It’s no different then going alone.” Denki was at your side and placed his arm around you, getting himself shocked at the touch of you.

“We have so much candy, wouldn’t you like to join in? We have more then you!” Sero tries to manipulate you into staying.

So you sigh and let them take you to the other houses, and soon enough your bag is full but you try and push the candy down to make more room.

“I can’t believe you guys,” you smile, “If I win, I am for sure taking one of you!!”

Green Flash.

The place you were standing in is now empty and no sign of you, a gust of wind shakes their clothes and hair. There was only one person who could have made that struck of green energy…

“Deku!” Katsuki shouts but he wasn’t heard by the corporate.

The Dekusquad had taken you and had no plan of letting you go, they only have ten minutes left to make sure you, or themselves won. And they would be damned if they let anyone else win.

“Come on darling,” a hand stroked your cheek and made your eyes open. You saw shoto looking at you, while izuku held you in his arms. “Can’t win if you have your eyes closed.”

“Yeah!” Shoto was pushed aside by a overly excited Ochako. “We wanted to help you win, we already have three full bags.” Iida, Shoto, and Froppy held up the full bags and your eyes go wide.

“Izuku, you can put me down now.” he was quickly to apologize and let you down, turning bright red and looked shameful.

“Next time warn me,” you get a feel for standing again as iida helps you stand straight without getting dizzy.

Over all you had a amazing time with your friends even if they weren’t easy to handle. And when you walked back into the gates, there was a chance of winning. Thought you didn’t win first place, the dekusquad did and promised you the tickets…

KIBBE'S PURE ROMANTIC IN FASHION & HISTORY (+ even architecture)

R is the opposite of the tall, non-curve dominant dramatic and flamboyant natural model body types, which is why it SEEMS juxtaposed to haute couture on paper, as if people thought:

"romantic = gentle flowing style of bygone eras on a small figure 8 body = not fashion just a past reference,

dramatic = severe modernity with ultra sharp lines on a statuesque body = yep, that's forward modern fashion for the runway".

...even if the opposite is easily true (e.g. damiano david often dressing fashionably romantic)!

and the strawberry R dress causing a real fashion ruckus.

sure, that polar opposite logic isn't 100% erroneous. dressing tall models in R will often feel retrospective and damiano is SD-ish so he can do both; plus yin garments are too cinched & short for 6'0+ models as no vertical is accommodated.

there's a reason why the 50s are THE romatic (+ SC) era, as is baroque, R feeling almost confined to these periods.

however, many brands actually do design innovative yin lines! romantic equals luxury, excess & abundance (= upper class), ornamentation and glamour itself, as kibbe wrote, after all. a dramatic body type does not exude abundance and ornamental detail at all.

(even if such garments can cost hundreds and it could be difficult to craft and accurately sew!)

D is spartan, brutalist, geometric, NOT copious. which is ironic and deceptive for a luxury brand, supposedly the opposite of austere and simple! wealth whispers would be a classic type motto. but money on display is always R, always redundant, almost always past-oriented, and once again ironically very feminine-coded even if wealth is and was mostly in men's hands worldwide.

as a pompous, infuriating and exaggerated example, look at the german castle neuschwanstein of bavarian king ludwig above, or (jump scare) mar-a-lago's wasteful wannabe versailles-style interiors below.

insanity how this can exist. note how "princess"-like it all is, the inverse of masculine, hard, dark, angular, strong yang. showing material affluence is confusingly yin? 😅 as if, a guy is so rich, he can quite literally afford to display femininity in his interiors. nothing about this alludes to D, FN, SD.

you wouldn't guess a guy like trump lives there. soft fabrics, candles, florals, ruffles, lace, pastels... everything we associate with hyperfemininity and the romantic type: the inverse of donald who is a flamboyant natural (tall + width), men's 'chad/archetype' of our time — paired with the SD trend — and fashion's towering ideal body ever since the 90s (claudia, gigi, candice, naomi, adriana etc, and all male models ever, like tyson beckford).

quite a political and aesthetic paradox, the world upside down. maybe - on top of trump dressing business pure classic, i.e. far off his type - that's why he looks out of place, as if you photoshopped it in.

PS: the stereotypical villain's castle in fiction is almost always gloomy and pure dramatic, immediately signalling its intent without hiding. (minas morgul in lotr, maleficent in disney)

talk about excess, anyway, and that's where i answer the question: the notoriously well-off catholic church is very SD/R in its aesthetic, too, similar to european aristocracy. that's probably why many italian fashion houses love a yin branding. rounded yin is catholic (st mark's basilica, venice). italy idolizes the yin body type.

^look how dolce & gabbana draws from this to make it TR. that's why i include architecture in this post. it intertwines.

if you look at many historic arabic garments/buildings or especially dynastic china, too, pure R is also prominent in noble dress and art. if you want to study the romantic type, study ottoman and chinese (fashion) culture. even the men wear waist emphasis, decorative fabric, dresses/skirts, rounded head gears and fine jewels.

all of this heavily influences luxury today, which is why i took some time diving into history.

so, finally: ROMANTIC BRANDS!

as mentioned, versace is very ornamental yin overall, even the logo. no sharp D lines to be seen. they do several kibbe types, but R is a huge focus.

dolce & gabbana is always between TR, SD, and pure R. chungha being soft gamine fits the brand. she always wears R and TR. this brand is the most yin in europe, IMO.

guo pei, the most wonderful and well-crafted of all. such details, pure R eye candy. my favorite. it's no surprise they successfully dressed rihanna (SD). guo pei is a genius. everything she does is yin.

she is one of the few designers who shares her own essence with her clothing creations. guo is also very yin.

robert wun is always going tumblr viral. those light reflective fabrics. it's the darker side of romantic, not soft and sweet. still, draped and translucent, only sometimes SD and TR. i think robert is the frontier to make romantic lines modern and gender-neutral. so good.

Dude what a fun question! I could just answer this but…Let’s delve into this because I’m feeling extra. I’m gonna go through the main places

Starting with immediate no’s:

Mordor

-Pretty self explanatory

-I don’t love hot climates for one

-Plus it being so dry there I would constantly get nose bleeds

-Also I’m not sure if I could get insurance to cover possible property damage from volcanos

-And the neighborhood’s residents aren’t particularly nice either

Moria:

-Now in it’s prime I’m sure Moria was incredible

-However

-I’ve already got depression; being underground won’t help that

-And I think I’m too clumsy and blind to navigate the area

-And how loud it must be there; like going to the mall around Christmas

Mirkwood

-So I love a good forest; but I don’t vibe with the infestation

-That majorly lowers properly value; so even if I got a place without spiders; I run the risk of of them coming to me and my resale value would plummet

-Now that isn’t to say you can’t live a nice life there. I could vibe with Radagast and his life style

-Maybe it’s a little eccentric but we could bond over a love of animals

Lothlorien

-Now you may be thinking; this place is incredible

-And you’re not wrong

-But it’s almost too nice; I’m not cool enough to keep up with the locals

-And although Galadriel is a girl boss, she kinda gives me the heebie-jeebies

-I’d rather not be worried about my mind being read when I’m just trying to mind my own business

-Maybe get a vacation there occasionally

Minas Tirith

-Now there is no denying the beauty of this city

-But it’s too close to Mordor and a bit too tightly packed

-I like to have some land of my own. You don’t get a backyard here

-It also just seems like a lot of climbing to get around plus altitude and I’ve got asthma

Fangorn Forest

-This place gets a bad rep but look how comfortable Merry and Pippin slept on that cozy moss

-Could I be killed by the trees? Yes. But could I also make friends? Absolutely

-It’s secluded so you can live your Disney princess dreams in peace with nature

-And since no one else wants to go there; you can get people to believe you are a witch or something

-Build up a resume of being mysterious and possibly crazy

Edoras:

-Gimli did a good job explaining why this isn’t the ideal place to be; even if it was due to worm boy

-The area is a little bleak; literally no trees and I like trees

-Now I love horses so that’s something

-And also the people living there seem chill so that’s why this isn’t completely off the table

Definitely would live here:

Rivendell

-No denying this is one of the most beautiful places to live in Middle Earth

-But one thing turning me off from it is how loud it would be

-Waterfalls are fucking loud; and they have many there

-But I would love to frolic around the winding pathways and beautiful greenery

-I think I would be very happy here

Isengard

-Pippin was on to something about this being a quality establishment

-Kick out the current resident and keep the trees; what a wonderful place to live

-Maybe a bit too secluded but it’s not too far from the Rohirrim for an occasional visit

-And similar to Fangorn you could build a reputation

-I’d waltz around this tower in a big fluffy robe

-Plus this place is enclosed in a wall; you could have your pets roaming free in safety

✨The Shire✨

-If we are honest this is obviously the ideal place to live

-Friendly neighbors

-Lively but also quiet

-Enough drama to keep me interested but not enough to be a real problem that brings down the mood

-I feel like it’s of no surprise that this would be my answer; easy peasy

-What I wouldn’t give to live the life of a hobbit

Speaking of twst events, what are your Top 3 Favourite game events so far? I'm genuinely curious. :'DD

Mmmm… I think most events are at least okayish? In general, I tend to prefer stories with high stakes or the ones that have some meaningful impact on character development, which are few and far between when it comes to TWST 😅 so their events aren’t typically my thing! You’ll notice that my favorite events in TWST actually do have story and/or character relevance.

That being said!! My favorite events would have to be:

Glorious Masquerade — This is, in my opinion, TWST’s strongest story and best overall event. It stands out against the others by having actual stakes and fully committing to it, as well as does wonders for the SSR trio’s involvement and interests in taking down the Big Bad. This is particularly true of Idia and Malleus. Said Big Bad, Rollo, is also very compelling in his own right.

Wish Upon a Star — Historically, this was the first time we saw the student’s rooms! The story itself introduced us to Star Rogue, which was pivotal to the Shrouds’ childhood (and later becomes relevant again in book 6). It was sweet to see Deuce try so hard to get Idia to come out of his shell, and even sweeter to see how far Idia is willing to push himself for his brother.

Fairy Gala: What If (NOT the first Fairy Gala; this is an important distinction!) — The edge this has over the original is that it is connected to Ortho’s growth as an individual post-book 6. He is able to discover his own take on what “evolution” is. Silver also gets a cool spotlight which demonstrates the pacifist teachings he was imparted with, serving as the bridge between fae and humans. Very pretty clothes and makeup too!!

I also liked:

Happy Beans Day I and II — This was a nice event that gave the whole cast their time to shine without feeling too bloated. It was also fun to see the different strategies and tactics each student employed; it helps show off their characters and problem solving abilities!

Ghost Marriage — I really liked that TWST parodied the fairy tale love stories and romantic events (that Disney and even mobile games in general are typically associated with). Hilarious how each of the guys tried and failed because they’re just silly high school students with no idea how to actually get a date 😂 I’m also biased for any outfit that involves formal wear.

White Rabbit Festival (Queendom of Roses hometown event) — The Alice in Wonderland aesthetic of Clock Town captured my heart 😌 It was also nice to see Deuce prove that he has turned over a new leaf to the townspeople.

The events I didn’t care for are:

Endless Halloween Night — I have very strong beef with the ending and the reasoning given for it 💀 It feels like everyone got gaslit into forgiveness… I also hated how no one held Malleus fully accountable after all the stress they were put through. Easily my most disliked event.

Tamashina Mina (Sunset Savanna hometown event) — Underwhelming ending in spite of the hype building for it. No meaningful payoff for the foreshadowing of Cheka’s guards.

Tsumsted Wonderland I and II — Nothing really happens (other than I guess the Tsums being cute)?? And it doesn’t really make an impact on anything.

Lost in the Book with Stitch — Same issue(s) as the Tsumsted events, except somehow even worse because everyone magically forgets everything they did with Stitch :/ so the experience means nothing in the long term…

Honorable mentions for my dislikes:

All Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles — I hate having to sit around and wait for ingredients and the fact that you can’t cook multiple dishes in one go. The lack of story also makes these events just not worth it for me.

Sam’s New Year Sale(s) and TWST Anniversary — Do these event count as a story event???? They’re just kinda celebratory short interactions, if anything.

Actually, I know Kaminari is into Minecraft, but is anyone else in 1-A a gamer? Like, is there anyone specific who jumps out at you as liking a specific game? Personally, I feel like Koji likes Animal Crossing, Sero is clearly a Spider-Man fan, but Iida always surprises people by being an amazing Mario player. Then you've got Shoto, who never really played video games, so everyone is determined to introduce him to their favourites.

I think while Denki is the only Gamer™, everyone else has their handful of games they love and enjoy.

You know Izuku owns ever All Might-based videogame that's come out.

I could see Mina getting really into those like. The Love Nikki type games? Battle through fashion stuff.

Momo is def good at strategy-based games and the like.

And Jiro + Guitar Hero? No contest.

I;m gonna go on a Todoroki Tangent though because you brought up Shoto in that his knowledge of things like games is So Weird™

Because like. He did have some free time and ability. Enji may have pushed Shoto harder than he should've, but a lot of his justification is "I don't do anything to him that I wouldn't do to myself" so while he is frustrated at the idea of rest days he does understand their need for overall performance and also needs his own rest days.

It's the same concept on how people took the comment of Enji;s control over Shoto's diet to mean starving him. Enji is trying to make sure that Shoto is functioning at peak performance so he knows what it takes to maintain a Hero's lifestyle and adjusts accordingly, whether it be things like rest days or making sure calorie intake is high enough.

Don't get me wrong: it was still too much for someone as young as Shoto, and none of it was on Shoto's body's schedule and he should've gotten more free time and rest days. But there /was/ downtime.

Plus there's the fact that Enji isn't around 24/7. He has a job with demanding hours. So while he'd tell Shoto "Once you're done with schoolwork for the day, start on the training exercises you already know how to do until I get home and we can work on the next lesson"...... Enji wasn't around to enforce that. That fell on Toya, Fuyumi and Natsuo, who were much softer with Shoto. Toya was at first the most begrudging "you're lucky dad lets you train to be a Hero how dare you squander it?!" but Fuyumi gives him the Disappointed Dad Expression™ and he caves lmao.

Shoto couldn't slack off entirely, that would get noticed. But if he finishes some math problems and wants to just. Take the hour to vibe instead of heading over to get some exercise in he can.

Now it's still not enough. Especially not enough for him to really get into most videogames because by the time he gets through a tutorial he has to quit. But he did have some attempts

But there's also a weird thing in like. When he would watch shows. Because that was more often left up to his siblings who are much older. Teenagers don't really want to sit down and watch Disney. So there's still a weird gap in his pop culture knowledge compared to other kids

Her old backstory was originally edgy and didn’t fit Disney at all; she was possessed by a cursed bell collar and would brutally kill anyone she came across. Ow the edge, I know, but then again I was in my Creepypasta edgy AU phase. Ew.
