However, there was a guard on duty that DID hear the silent voice and began looking around. The cloaked figure gently rapples its way lower until it was right behind the man that glances around the corners of the hallway. He felt a gentle tap against the back of his neck which was followed by a static shock that numbed his body before rendering him unconscious. “Note to self: Self-monologue in your head.” The voice spoke once more, the cloaked figure then crawls out of that hallway and into the a locked room by breaking the lock.

“Finally, this should be the room.” The cloaking was released to bring about the costumed figure in view: Spider-man. The dark arachnid made his way into the room and began digging through folders looking for proof or lack there of concerning a few shot victims as of late. “I know this is a gang..but if the police start stirring up trouble with the wrong gang..then there could be trouble. Need to find someth-..” Spider senses flare as he saw someone else stepping into the room. “Crap, would it kill people to make a sound whenever they enter a room?!” Quickly Spider-man hops from the ground, quickly rotating his body to stick his feet against the ceiling. “Now before you show me that you’re strapped let me explain why I’m here.”

Miles had been adhering pretty strictly to his patrol schedule for the last few years...well, within reason. There was no real way to be Spider-Man other than by being able to roll with the punches and go with the flow. It worked out though, he had pretty much always lived by the seat of his pants. There were points that he was pretty sure he was responsible for most of his mom's grey hair...but it wasn't from being Spider-Man.

She didn't know. There were only a small handful of people that did know that he was Spider-Man, and most of those people were also of the spider variety.

Beyond all of that though, he was an adult...technically. Just a young adult. Even if his mom knew who he was and wanted to ground him...no, he wouldn't give himself that much credit. There was no escaping the famous look of Rio Morales.

Looking up at Azari, he tilted his head slightly. "Uh...I dunno man, I got a foot in th' door with a couple Avengers." He shrugged. Not what ya know, it's who ya know, right?" He gave a small pause. "Wouldn't hurt t' have a team," he agreed, "who knows, maybe your parents will change their minds one day." The smile was apparent in his voice, even as the mask hid it from view.

“Ey, compa!!” One man said as he enters the bar to meet and greet with another. That other person was Miles Morales, an outstanding young man that tries to do so much for his community and behind closed doors he goes over and beyond as a masked vigilante. But today he was just a university student having a blast with his friend.

“Yo, didn’t take you for the bar scene.” Said Miles as he greets the other with a handshake ending with a fist bump. 

��What’d you mean fool? This is my shit, my lane. YOU’RE the one that’s outta place here homes.” The other spoke up with enthusiasm.

Dammit, he was right. Miles wasn’t a stranger to public gatherings but bars?? Definitely not his scene if he could help it. But he was actually following up on a rumor, there has been a lot of strange things happening all over the city recently. People dying in their sleep, a few lights flickering here and there and some people even wrote on social media about being stalked by a figure that disappears when trying to confront it. It was WEIRD all around, but other than social media, he’s gotten the heads up from a ‘reliable source’ that bars are usually ground zero for GREAT gossip. 

However, it seemed Miles had to contend with his friend from university here for the moment and it really went over great until one blond arrived. She was beautiful with a figure to turn every man her way, single or less than faithful. His friend were one of those guys that were ‘intrigued’ with her so he turned to Miles and gave him a silent signal. “Watch me homes, I’m going in.” Said the guy.

“Going where? With that dime? Naw man, she’s waaay out of your league..out of ours.” Said Miles.

“Tomatelo con calma. I got this, I got that latin passion.” The guy said as he approaches the blond, a confident smile on his face thinking he’d probably already scored her number. “Hey there princesa, I come here a lot but I think this is the first time I’ve seen you and believe me Mami I’d never forget a face like yours.” He says.

“The guy’s doomed.” Miles whispered towards himself, confound this sensitive hearing of his, the last thing he’d wanna be is a witness to future tragedy.

With a groan, Miles lets his phone fall out of his hand; it somehow being the only thing on him that didn't get broken.

Maybe he's being overdramatic. He doesn't care. Doesn't... really care about much at all, actually. Shock makes you do crazy shit-- like make a vaguely concerning Tumblr post after a bungled patrol then immediately shut his phone off rather than call for help.

Not like he could feasibly do the latter anyways. Last thing he wants is for Spider-man to have a medical record, much less at his mom's hospital. Would the bite have messed with his body enough that he couldn't go through normal medical procedures?

... besides, if Spider-man has to call for help, that doesn't make him much of a protector, huh?

What kind of a protector, a good one at that, gets his ass beaten within an inch of his life on what was supposed to a normal, routine patrol? Crawls away to a random back alley to lick his wounds alone? If anyone saw him like this, he'd never live it down-- assuming he were still alive to see the headline anyways.

Fluffy snowflakes start falling, ever so daintily landing on Miles's overheated body, on his eyelashes. (huh. When did his mask lenses get shattered?) They contrast with the night sky like stars. The city noises turn into a hazy blur, like it's all a million miles away. The cars, a dog barking, the faint background buzz of electrical wires.

Not a bad place to die, Miles thinks with startling calmness.

He didn't expect what he believes is the end of his life to be so.... calm. Atmospheric, almost. Not like he's complaining though; too out of it to be worried. His eyelids grow heavier and heavier. His thoughts slow to what feels like sludge.

He doesn't register the crunch of shoes on pavement approaching him.
