THIS is how I imagine the Eye of Elena in TOG.
I can only see it as the chunky owl necklace everyone used to wear back in 2011 😭😂😂😂

hellooo, ive read through ur fics and they are beautiful and i humbly provide a prompt 4 u; Anthony stimming in front of Ian. thats it that the prompt. since their reunion, Anthony has finally felt comfortable enough to stim in front of Ian when he wants to without shame or sum idk im autistic and love projecting onto my favourite content creators
Hey Anon, finally getting back to you after a milennial. I'm sorry for the wait! I got you, I too am autistic and love projecting so here we go :)
Anthony had always held himself to some pretty stupid standards.
When he was younger, he believed he needed to always put socks the same color or people would definitely notice and laugh at him. As he grew older, it became about straightening his hair, not only for the emo style but mainly because he was ashamed of his curls and thought he would get mocked for them. Mainly, though, he battled with his, for a long time undiagnosed but very obvious, ADHD and everything that came along with it.
The shame he felt at his own behavior started pretty young, when he used to simply stay mute instead of allowing himself to talk to people in kindergarten. He knew he had a loud voice and an even louder laugh, one that his mom always told him to quiet down. Even though she was never mean about it, Anthony had ended up taking it more personal than he should have. Sadly, though, it didn't get easier; there were so many assignments he failed because he hadn't been able to focus and was to ashamed to ask for help from anyone, lest they tell him to get his head out of his ass and listen.
Anthony tried, he did, but that never quite worked.
It didn't quite work like a lot of things did, but one person he did let into his life and his odd behavior was Ian. Ian never whined when he laughed too loud, Ian never minded how he jumped subjects of conversations and Ian always helped him in the classes he failed to understand due to having lost focus. Anthony had always been so, so grateful for that, but there was still one thing he had struggled with.
Stimming. Anthony had a lot of small habits that he always suppressed, mostly in fear he would get judged. Even with how much he loved Ian, he always feared he would disrupt the younger man with those repetitive behaviors. He also remembered a few times where he had been unable to help the thrumming of his fingers as he worked, the stress of his later years at Smosh taking a toll on him and making him unable to stay still even more than usual; Ian used to turn around and ask him to stop in this irritated voice. Not mean, once again, but it hit the nail in the coffin.
He was disturbing people in a way he shouldn't be, or at least, that's what he thought.
And then, after a few years of therapy, an official diagnosis, getting on meds and finally unloading all of this trauma, Anthony and Ian had reunited.
The core of the relationship, their comedic chemistry and the ease they had once felt around each other came back, even stronger than it had been before. Anthony had never been more grateful for something in his life; or maybe he had, but only about the fact he and Ian were now an official thing. A couple. Boyfriends.
They had learned how to live around each other again, speak out what bothered them and be honest. Issues were solved way faster today, and way easier too. Working was comfortable, funny, fulfilling in the same way it had been back when they started Smosh. Hanging out was, too, and they now found comfort and pleasure in the mere act of being together, opposite to the later years of their friendship when they barely spent any time together outside of work. For that, Anthony was fully grateful too; it sure was fun that being together now included more things like kisses, hugs and more...Physical activities. Anthony loved those improvements.
Ian and him now were together more often than not, and there was an ease about it that had never been there before. Sometimes, they didn't even do much; Ian would be watching yet another history video and Anthony would be laying with his head on his boyfriend's lap, working on his new interview. He cherished those small moments, especially the few instances when Ian would interrupt him for a bit just to press a fond and loving kiss on his lips. It was lovely, it filled Anthony's heart in a way nothing else ever had.
One of the things he cherished the most, though, was how earnest they had both been with each other. Vyvanse pills might work for focus and other symptoms of ADHD, but the stimming part couldn't be erased from him. Happily, though, Anthony didn't feel the need to hide himself anymore.
When they were in the office, he would sometimes be playing with everything that fell under his hands. The little holder of his phone, the pencil he was holding, his rings that he wore; it was a thing that greatly helped him focusing when they were brainstorming. Instead of whining like he had sometimes used to, Ian would always look at him fondly, with a smile that screamed 'I knew this would happen', but would never interrupt him. He had even started bringing a few of those little water toys that could be squished for Anthony to press on as he talked. He had brought one in the shape of a black cat, because he said it reminded him of Anthony. He was blushing as he said it, but Anthony had thought it was so cute he had kissed Ian on the mouth hard enough to bruise his lips.
Then, there was the way he often hummed as he did things. Really, anything; it would also help him focus and he didn't even notice it at time. Ian would sometimes join him in his low singing when he did the dishes or even worked on some scripts, a smile on his lips. Neither he or Ian were particularly great singers, but they always ended up laughing so hard they cried or just having a sweet, domestic moment.
Ian had also brought a few rocking chairs inside the office, decision that had been questioned but Anthony was forever grateful. It was easier and grounding to rock on a chair that was made for it, a habit Ian had probably noticed and remembered from their time at school and how Anthony couldn't keep himself still on a chair for two seconds. Ian always scolded him when he brought his chair on two legs, telling he might fall and to stop; this was something else that Anthony cherished about him. How protective he had always been, how much he cared.
Most of the time, Anthony thrummed his legs endlessly. This habit put a strain on his muscles, something Ian knew, so he would lean in to place a hand on his thigh, remind him to calm down. Ian would rub the skin and pat it simply before retrieving his hand, knowing Anthony didn't even notice what he was doing. There was also how he would reach out to tug at Anthony's arm when he either bit his nails too much or scratch at his skin until it would become red. Sure, there were days Ian wasn't there to do so and Anthony would end up breaking his skin open, but his boyfriend would always be there once he came back home to rub the skin with lotion and kiss the scar, achingly soft and tender. Anthony didn't think he could love him more, but Ian always outdid himself. He once bought gums and straws just for Anthony to chew on when he needed to.
Even with his weirder habits, Ian didn't judge. He didn't judge when Anthony cleared his throat too much or repeated random words or sentences. He didn't judge when he would flap his hands and move them a little too much as he talked. He didn't mind when Anthony would get excited and jump a little too much, or he would get all over the place. Instead, he seemed to find it very amusing and so, so adorable. Just like he cherished the little tunes Anthony whistled when he was particularly engrossed into something.
All those little things that Anthony had spent years hiding and taming down, all the habits he had taken that included hurting himself and then dealing with the consequences himself, he didn't have to face them alone. Ian would always be there to ease the ache in his muscles after he pulled at them too much by how much he moved, or to cream his red and sore skin, massage his jaw when he had chattered his teeth too much. Anthony treasured all of those actions, how much care Ian had towards him and how he showed him all the time. It was a little wild to find someone who finally didn't mind all those things about him, and especially someone who even cherished a few of those habits. Anthony would see it in the fond smile stretched on Ian's face when he stared at him, just like he hung the moon, when he was just whistling while doing the dishes. He would feel it in the way Ian kissed him softly when he would sing, how he wouldn't even note the flapping of his hands and simply lean over to brush a strand of hair away from his face.
Anthony felt comfortable to be fully himself in a way he had never had before. He knew and could feel the way Ian loved every little thing about him, from the way he smiled so softly to the way he catered to his every needs, even when Anthony ignored he had them.
Anthony simply cherished Ian himself, fully and wholly. He had never been more grateful of something than the fact Ian felt the same.

I’m proud of how this turned out so I’m crossposting from fb but I respect you so I’m putting it under the cut. Here’s 5 of the absolute worst bullshit I put myself through consuming in 2023 in my lifelong pursuit of cultural literacy. Individual explanations underneath each for those who are interested in me being a hater 🫶
I have tried really hard to develop my critical perspective this year so I do have actual thoughts about these but I did me best to make them entertaining as well.
The Stand - This year I embarked on an effort to read more Stephen King because I really like the Ranged Touch guys and I wanted to better engage with their show Just King Things. I read Carrie first (more on that in another post), which really set me up for such monumental disappointment when it came to this fucking book. Jesus Christ. I have scarcely read a better selling or more beloved work of popular fiction, and I have also separately scarcely read a more offensive and poorly constructed work of popular fiction. I don’t even know how to begin addressing the headache it gave me, but I was pissed off almost the entire time I read it. Caveat here that, like everyone else, I did love the “no great loss” section both on its own merits and as a cute little Vonnegut nod.
Goodnight Beautiful - I read a lot of shitty thrillers because they get miscategorized as horror very commonly- and while I don’t think genre boundaries are hard and fast I do think that these are very distinct groups- but they’re almost as satisfying so I guess I’ll take it while I’m here. But my lord. This is one of the shittiest shitty thrillers I’ve ever managed to make myself finish. I have brain problems that make it difficult for me to distinguish between characters when there’s a lot of action or time weirdness or whatever whatever, but based on reviews that I trust, it was so poorly done that even normal people couldn’t follow what was happening until the author took the reader by the hand and shoveled the answers directly into their mouth.
Stolen Tongues - for YEARS I’ve been hearing people rave about how unique and effective and just good this book is. My experience, however…
1)author can’t turn a phrase to save their life *vine boom*
2) this has such an extended ‘nlog breasting boobily’ description of the girlfriend that I think I literally gagged *vine boom*
3) racist. *vine boom vine boom vine boom*
No One Is Talking About This - one of my biggest pet peeves is the way most people (authors, journalists, thought leaders, your parents, congresspeople) talk about the internet. It is broad, with both the lack of specificity and the extremity that implies. The way someone talks about the internet can tell you so much about their perspective that they must not know how revealing it is or they’d be more embarrassed about how they sound (again, more on this in another post). This book is a great example- it’s inauthentic to the core. There are some readers who clearly interpreted this as funny glibness but the particular way Lockwood takes internet haterism ad absurdum lets me know she’s never had one single internet argument with someone. It pissed me off so royally that I nearly sent this author an email except I’m not convinced she understands how to open those.
The Vile Thing We Created - the only book on this list that I did not finish and yet felt qualified to speak on anyway. Suckered again by booktok! There was sufficient hype for this book that I let myself get excited, I even spent a few of my actual dollars to get the ebook for convenience. I am really enthusiastic about engaging with themes of the horror of parenthood, good or bad, because I find them an interesting reflection of social ideas about parents. However. Let me just excerpt some of this dreck so you can feel the full force of the normie milennial local cringe that is baked in to every sentence:
Lola was elbow-deep in her fifteenth batch of macaron batter for that week. Spring orders were in full swing, as were an ocean of orders for baby shower treats. It never failed. She never refused the business. Quite the opposite. Macarons meant time. Time meant money. She easily brought in an extra twelve-hundred dollars a week during baby shower season. Music floated into the kitchen from the living room record player. Depending on her mood, Lola’s extensive vinyl collection met her every need. While baking, she usually threw on some David Bowie, Foreigner, something along those dramatically-opposite lines. Today, Louis Armstrong’s “A Lot of Livin’ to Do” danced in the air, trumpet notes accompanying Lola’s bopping around the kitchen.
……….yeah. You can see why I ragequit at 15%. It’s also really fucking weird about the dialogue of the black characters.

Splatter
If the last half-decade has demonstrated anything, it is that the terminally online rhetoric of post-ironic who-gives-a-shit is metastasising. Vine was a benign growth, TikTok a malignant tumour. The netizen-hive-mind-collective that 'solved' the Boston Bombing is directly responsible for the fashwave that is/has/does/will erode democracy. Your grandpa has FOMO and bought $GME to 💎🙌 to the moon and we're all gonna make it, gm, gn, and you're buying into my shitcoin so I can rugpull you because Blizzard nerfed Siphon Life during Obamna's first term. Video games and anime used to be so much better before this forced diversity bullshit ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ꜰᴜᴄᴋ ᴀʀᴇ yᴏᴜ ꜱᴀyɪɴɢ ᴅᴏ yᴏᴜ ʜᴇᴀʀ ᴛʜᴇ ꜱʜɪᴛ ᴅʀɪʙʙʟɪɴɢ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴏꜰ yᴏᴜʀ ᴍᴏᴜᴛʜ yᴏᴜ ᴄʀᴇᴛɪɴ took away the possibility of me getting a tradwife with Abigail Shapiro's body and Marin Kitagawa's face while I [REDACTED] to Angela White after a month of semen retention and get those GAIN$$$$ because there's always a bigger fool and it sure as fuck isn't me and you just don't get this new meme and I'm being gangstalked and I haven't [As the owner of a LandNFT, you own your individual Metalverse patch and secure a permanently assigned place on the Met---
The Milennials are the new Boomers [GEN-X ERASURE] and even the Zoomers are coming of age and they've been inundated with information and bullshit bullshit bullshit so they're casting a mirror back at this fucked up world we've made for them in their own art but some people are trying to be cute and coy with it and you get a YIIK or a Neon White but at least one of those was a good game even if it was still corpo-white-washed faux-sthetics. And your cute and coy attempts and being quirky fail to represent how angry you should be that you were born into this mess of a world because don't you know anger results in nothing? Why yes my favourite podcasts are My Brother, My Brother & Me, and The Adventure Zone, I love to choke down the fetid slurry that is the McElroys' toxic positivity of no bummers and horses and you're being force fed advertisements for fast food and you can't even open your eyes to realise it.
So when a game has the moxie to be viscerally angry, I have to take notice because that feels so genuine in the hyperrealistic world we inhabit. And Splatter is mad that the Internet has made us manipulative, lonely, nostalgic, deluded, greedy, and ultimately willing to harm others (or ourselves) for some gain, be it financial or spiritual or egotistical or chemical. This works where other games borne of the online mindset falter because this runs deep. Rat King Collective didn't disconnect to craft up some malformed half-simulacra that is outdated before it comes out. They never stopped being online, they didn't go for the here and now, they struck at the core of fourteen-year-old-me's identity. This isn't the cream of the crap, this is the dregs of a multitude of online cultures that you, yes, had to be there for. Or maybe you didn't. Does it matter? This goes deep enough that a missed referential quip refuses a reading of "oh this is one of those internet things I don't get," it simply recedes into the background, a cacophony of noise.
It isn't as if the gameplay is some marvel though. It's a spongy xoomer-shooter affair with hand guns and a Dark Souls Borne Ring dodge and commitment to the bit. A leaping enemy is gonna leap! Your dodge isn't going to give you i-frames but it'll get you out of the way and into a new harm's way. I'm not here for the gameplay anyways, it's a means to an end.
This is the video game equivalent of B.R. Yeager's Amygdalatropolis and I ravenously ate it up. Get mad. Wreck shit. Tear it all down. WORLD IS A FUCK

Why do I feel so weird about kids reblogging our teenage years from deactivated accounts?
Also, I'm surely not alone when I feel they inadvertently mock our 90's-00's aesthetic, right? I don't think we thought any of that stuff was cool back then. It was what we had... How we coped. What was popularly available to us was very binary, very fake, very prejudiced and we were genuinely upset about it. But we had to even mock our own sadness by making it a caricature and calling ourselves "emo". Because even though we were genuinely depressed, the rest of the world kept telling us that it was impossible. There was no way. That we had to be exaggerating or being dramatic. (There's narcissists everywhere btw, but I'm speaking generally.)
I wonder if they understand that they are exposing real people's creations, average teenager feelings that were thrown online back then. It's like tearing pages off "public" journals and putting them in a museum. None of them imagined they'd be picked apart in this way. None of us did this with the 60's, 70's, and 80's. We only saw their culture through the lens of professionals: newspapers, ads, campaigns, brands, music, literature, TV, movies, celebrities, etc. None of our inspiration came from their childhood photos or personal doodles. It's slightly disturbing.
Because all the pretty pink merch you reblog was worn by celebrities that were dancing with their navels out, purposefully sexualized just for everyone to call them whores. Everyone. The media wanted them to be young but to grow up fast. It was all the rage when they lost their virginity. Remember "Dirrty" by Christina Aguilera?
Because all the clothes were designed for very thin girls. Browsing through the latest fashion, if you were curvy in any way, was just a waste of time. It just didn’t come in your size. There was barely any proper LGBTQ+ representation. People on TV and movies happily used cellphones, but normal people barely did. It was all a dream.
Everything was silver. And I love silver, but this was plastic silver. It was all cyber-fake. It sold an ideal aesthetic that never came. The toys were all trends, very expensive, and didn't last long. The Furby was $99 USD. I really wanted one, but by the time the quick fad was gone, everyone ended up being scared of it at night. It would talk randomly, imagine that.
The internet was sold as this ideal futuristic place, but only nerds and geeks understood it or were into it. It was a male-dominated place. It was VERY slow. You had to disconnect to use your house phone or get calls. It was a burden to anyone that didn't use it. Nobody wanted to get an email. "You've Got Mail" was ages ahead of its time. You were "into computers" while the rest of the world wasn't. All that cyber punk stuff you drool about were only our dreams that didn't last very long.
You made online friends but you weren't allowed to trust them (With good reason sometimes). Explaining to others that these were real people you had relationships with, was laughable.
But most of all, you felt like you were riding on a dream that only a few wanted to make come true.
Until corporations exploited the internet by using us, much like in The Matrix, to feed them loads of data so they can show us ads while they get rich. Then it all went to complete shit. Then we became pawns. Ad-watchers. Reactors, mere users. The novelty was gone. And everyone got into it. Even your grandma. Everyone wanted to be in it, until they got tired of hearing one another's hateful anonymous comments and bullying. So they locked themselves in their own comfortable echo chambers.
Now they get upset when someone doesn't understand them, or when they don't understand something. They shut them out and shun them, "cancel" them. Much like a mean girl in high school would say, “you can’t sit with us”.
No matter how much you wish this dream of yours were true, it isn't. We're all in this. We all have to talk, and we all have to listen. We all have to heal, and we all must make mistakes and learn from them for this to happen. Even you. You who shelters themselves among thousands of rules of conduct and morality in order not to hurt anyone. You will hurt people. It's a fact of life. It's a fact of love. Loving people hurts. You can't shun pain from your life forever, and you can't heal it all at once. Everything takes time, so allow others that time too.
Being kind doesn't mean never hurting. It means understanding that pain is inevitable, and also necessary for growth. Hence the term “growing pains”. Instead of focusing on it, there's healing to be done. Spend time loving more, and pointing less fingers. Healing happens from the inside out.

Kagekao headcanons
I made this one for @crebby a while ago bc i was bored tbh.
TW: murder mention and swearing (by me)
a fucking asshole but not on the mean way.
Like he could be your best friend and even you are not safe from his constant bs.
pranks on anyone and everyone? Yes.
Does he go too far? Only with victims. (would be pretty bad if he killed a slender mansion resident by accident so he makes sure not to)
he lives with Offenderman (notice how i didn't say seggsual Offenderman bc he's a matchmaker in the underworld and overworld not that guy) he also works as a watcher and an information collector and helps the match get to know each other through "random accidents"<3.
he most definetly has a cute lil vine cupboard bc yes.
wouldn't belive it but he is good with kids and gosh they love him a lot.
he purrs.
Forgot to mention but i hc him as 24 as in age.
likes fluffy clothing (especially scarfs) the most don't ask me why it's just the texture he loves so much
he is beyond saddened he can't wear his scarf to work bc of safety reasons
he doesen't work for slenderman nor is he around the mansion a lot bc slender doesen't take his pranks lighteartedly (old grumpy man)
BUT he is great friends with jeff and they get along well.
also has a good relationship with: ben, toby, splendorman(they don't talk ab him killing ppl so they get along well), and offenderman (obv)
propably loves reading or watching horror comedies
trickster demon to the very core
halloween and fall is his fave aesthetic
great at parkour and stuff like that bc he has claws.
gay as hell pls you can't say he is straight unironically.
pretty sadistic and mocking if you are a victim of his.
propably targets deepressed milennials the most because you know they are hella fun to tease and they got vine.

Hey, on a recent post you commented about the garden city model and how it is classist, I was just wondering if you could elaborate on that? (only if you have time of course) I remember learning about the garden city model in a class once and I thought it sounded kinda nice so I'd be interested to hear your take on it
sorry this took me like 3 weeks to get to! i’ll first off say i was also in the same boat as you having heard about the Garden City movement in class and thought it was a really cool idea. Essentially the Garden City movement is a city planning concept made by this english lad Ebenezer Howard that concentrates residential lots around a central town/city centre in a circle. as a result of this you’d have the core being where the business hubs would be located, and outside of that you’d have roomy, leafy residential areas with wide streets and lots and lots of greenery. The core would also be roomy and include lots of greenery, and this layout would be duplicated over the cityscape so as to minimise the pressure on each town/city centre. you’d essentially have lots of target-like zoning layouts interconnected with main thoroughfares. Having good walking and cycling paths are also typical of Garden Cities.
A real life example of this is the capital of Australia, Canberra.
Below is Walter Burley and Marion Mahony Griffin’s basemap for Canberra (source). You can see the Garden City idea of circles and main thoroughfare interconnections, especially on the south side of the lake.
Following the Griffin’s design and the Garden City principles, the city was to develop along an interconnected route of ‘satellite cities’ to form a Y shape as seen below (source).
Fun fact for aussies - the above 1967 Y plan is why ACT number plates always start with a Y. Anyway, in the above figure you can see a big orange circle which is the city centre area in the old map. South is the Woden Valley and Tuggeranong garden city areas, to the north-west of the Y is Belconnen and the north is what was meant to be Gungahlin but which got developed slightly more to the west in that purple area.
So the Y shape didn’t go fully to plan, but the satellite cities in Canberra very much follow the concept of the Garden City Movement whereby leafy low-residential areas find a CBD at its core. All in all, Canberra is a beautiful city with lots of public open space, plenty of walking and cycling routes, more trees than there have ever been and is one of the best places to live according to various ‘best cities’ polls.
But it doesn’t go without its flaws which are more than likely emdedded in all other cities modelled off the Garden City movement (ie. Residence Park in New Rochelle, NY, Montreal’s suburb Mount Royal, Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Colonel Light Gardens in Adelaide.) The main point of criticism is that the Garden City movement entrenches classism in city planning because it assumes that anyone can afford to live in low-density, usually larger sized and highly vegetated lots. This means higher land tax, higher purchasing costs of dwellings, and essentially blocks out people who can’t afford to live in those types of housing. The milennial concern of never being able to afford a house ring a bell?
So if only a certain type of people can afford to live in Garden Cities, how is that fair? Canberra once tried to solve this problem by dispersing community housing in every suburb, however with changing governments and changing perspectives of land use, this concept has been followed through less and less. Canberra now sees less dispersion of community housing, further emphasising the city as place for only those who can afford the lifestyle it boasts.
Other minor problems can come down to restrictions on the use of the land in Garden Cities. At least in Australia, what’s called a Deposited Plan and an 88b Instrument can determine particular development rules for planned neighbourhoods like Garden Cities. These rules can dictate everything from the size of the houses, the materials, the colours, and where you can put a shed on your land and whether or not you can put up a privacy fence. While these rules can always be negotiated, it does enforce a strict ‘dress code’ for neighbourhoods potentially resulting in legal battles if you dared to paint your house blue instead of the typical colour of the area.
There’s also room to mention that if the garden city favours low-density residential development then you’re more likely to accelerate urban sprawl than you are to create compact, high density cities. The latter of which is totally possible to make green and still have all the benefits of a garden city while supporting a much larger population.
Ultimately I think that garden cities have some good things going for them - lots of trees and nature incorporated in the city, really good interconnectivity between car/walking/cycling, the feel of being in a city but also a country town at the same time. but for the planning of garden cities to be fair and accessible to people in all financial and lifestyle situations, they have a lot of work to do to even the playing field.

Princess tip #5: There seems to be a common misconception that a princess is a selfish, bratty, lazy girl who steps on others to climb the ladder. I'm taking the liberty of redifining the term princess for all of us.
The Modern Day Princess is simply a feminine woman in a very leftist milennial society, who is working to keep her core values and traditions in check while assimilating to our current culture.
She works hard (preferably full time) and pays her own way, but she also enjoys when her man spoils her like the princess she is.
She is kind to others, and kind to herself. She knows that there is no use in stepping on others if she wants to be a woman of Value. She is soft, feminine, yet strong.
She is graceful and emotionally in touch with her feelings. She knows that as independent as women can be, society as a whole flourishes when men and women work together and depend on one another. She values family, and therefore sees the age-old value in traditional gender roles that enable every day families to thrive.
That being said, she does not accept treatment from men the way that women used to in decades past. It is 2019, after all. We are hard-working women, significant contributors to society, we raise the babies AND the businesses. Princesses deserve the utmost respect from our men. She knows her worth and accepts nothing less. She demands respect. Bless the heart of any man who tests her boundaries.
She values herself and women as a whole JUST as much as she values her man and men as a whole. She expects a lot from herself, and therefore expects the same efforts from the women and men in her life. We all play a vital role. Princesses know it and live it.

I feel you, anon. I'm a non-binary milennial and look really feminine these days but used to look quite butch. I've also always loved women, but have always known to my core that I wasn't a woman. To me, this identity is more about feeling your gender rather than presentation, though especially for younger people (I'm almost 40), presentation seems more important and a good shortcut. You wouldn't know I was non-binary by looking at me and I don't care. If I was younger, I probably would take pains to do what my students do and try to look like a fem masc person and dye my short hair blue because that's the accepted aesthetic to communicate to the world that I'm not a cis lesbian. However, I'm old enough to not really care anymore about precise labels much because they change so much over time. There were no words in the early nineties to try on, there were only slurs. Don't worry too much about the young ones and their many choices, they are lucky. Give them time to live a little and realise that not liking pink does not automatically make any afab person non-cis. They'll get there, and it's not queer people who are bringing back stereotypes I thought had died in the early eighties, it's scared conservative cis people.
I might have misunderstood and in that case I’m sorry but..how does jm or jk liking feminine stuff regarding their appearance or interests or else have anything to do with gender? I guess it’s probably me watching all those debates (I’ve seen this discussed on twitter multiples times) from a non-westerner and old-school lesbian perspective if I may say but this western genderqueer thing doesn’t make very much sense to me. You can be a guy and like so-called feminine stuff, or like to play with both masculinity and femininity. It doesn’t you any less of a guy, doesn’t make you a woman or an in-between, it just makes you an androgynous guy or a fem guy and there’s nothing wrong with that. Same goes the other way around. I’m quite masculine in my appearance, also always like more "guy stuff", it doesn’t make me any less of a women. I’m sorry I just don’t get this bigender label. Watching this from afar it seems like what it mean or look like to be a man or woman is becoming very restricted again and you have to fit this and this criteria or else you re queer something ( I know this is also very much debated in the lgbt community nowadays but I just hate that word, it was used as an insult and I personally don’t want to associate myself with it). Now I do think jm and jk gender nonconformity is an indication of them possibly being gay/pi (there’s a link between gender non-conformity and homosexuality/bisexuality) but that tattoo was probably more used an an indication of bisexuality in my humble opinion(I have a bi friend who actually have that sign tattooed, some ppl use it for bisexuality indeed). Sorry if I was a rude or anything (English not being my first language also) but I just see all those new labels in the western lgbt world and it just confuses the hell of me cause it seems sometimes pretty regressive, I just wanted to share my perspective.
Hi anon, Thank you for sharing your perspective with us. As a cis bi/pan woman of a certain age, I feel what you're saying - pretty keenly, actually. Because sometimes I just sit here like "I DO NOT GET WHAT THESE KIDS ARE TALKING ABOUT".
THIS IS GONNA GET LONG AND NOT HAVE PICTURES KIDS SO CLICK IF YOU WANNA.
Still here? Cool. It's not that we didn't HAVE a whole ass Kinsey scale but it only goes 1-6. Straight. Heteroflexible or Will Experiment At Parties. Bi. Homoflexible or Gay For Play. Gay. Supergay. That's ... what we had, in the day. I'm actually a 2.5 probably. And for years we did, we used numbers if we were smart enough to read the whole damn thing. And gender identity was like, you're cis or you're trans. That was it. And yes. "Queer" was a pejorative. A slur. A word we saw spray-painted on underpasses and sometimes school lockers. "Gay" implied pederasty, practically, but "queer" would get your ass beat in public and not an adult would stop it. And with the advent of the HIV Plague, to which I lost every damn one of the drag queens who raised me, we got even more hate. Girls less than guys, I think, but the history is not a pretty one. You know this. We of Gen X and older are all too aware. For those who have seen "Paris Is Burning" that was kinda my life for awhile, add intensive ballet. And most of those people are dead. What we have now, in the West particularly, is a smorgasbord of options. Literally if we can dream it up someone else already has and there's probably a flag. Like, it makes me feel old and out of touch. I don't even know how to call myself half the time. Am I bi? Pan? Sapiosexual? Demisexual because I don't put out on the first date? There are TOO MANY OPTIONS FOR MY SMALL ASS. I NEED A BETTER ASS TO HANDLE MY DECISIONS. And I see why too many options and too many classifications might almost feel regressive. Like, cis men are not always traditionally masculine beefy guys who like auto racing and American football. Many cis men like pretty things too. Most drag queens are cis men, actually. But femme guys are often seen, now, as other-gendered and not just other-oriented, because that's AN OPTION NOW. And the opposite is true. My cis lesbian BFF looks and acts like a guy. I have had people tell me she seems trans to them. SHE ISN'T. G-Money loves being a woman. She also loves auto racing and weightlifting and American football and her mohawk, let her live, right? Even I really waited for her to come out as trans or at least NB and IT AIN'T HAPPENED YET. She's 47.
I understand the issue of people feeling triggered by the Q word. I do. I get it. And I respect your choice not to use it or have it used at you - if I knew your user name I'd make a note :) And I get how just seeing it feels weird and wrong. I'm getting more used to it, it doesn't bother me as much as it did a few years ago. We used to call it genderfuck and honestly that makes as much sense. Now, to the guys (we're gonna go ahead and call them guys): my reasoning for thinking Jimin might be bigender is because he has all but told us that gender is a fluid construct for him. Yes, he identifies publicly as male, but even in interviews has openly said he feels more comfortable with the feminine parts of his personality in the last few years. That doesn't mean he isn't a man. And he may well be coding bisexuality - the issue there is that he so rarely has even appeared to show any interest in women, and he has openly coded for both sexes as gender (Illecebra and Arcanus). As to Jungkook, I think he's a gay cis male who also likes to feel pretty sometimes. Hell, he and Jimin both could easily fit that descriptor. And that's basically what they've said in public if you leave Filter out of it. But to be fair, these are men who have yet to come out. We forget that sometimes. THEY HAVE NOT COME OUT. Either of them. As far as we can prove they are cis straight men who like to sleep together and stay up all night and go on dates and give each other hickeys and kiss each other and hold hands and have inside jokes about "you are me I am you" and "we don't know what we do but we do stuff" and and and. I mean okay, we're not blind and my Korean source is telling me they are pretty damn open, just nobody talks about it, in Korea. But we have to remember that until they SAY something we can't PROVE anything. I mean until the sex tape leaks. ANYWAY I have blabbered on long enough, but thank you for your words and the transparency you had to share them with me.

108 - An open letter to MiMAP
To Ms. May Dawat, current President of the Microinsurance MBA Association of the Philippines (MiMAP), and Executive Director Mr. Jun Jay Perez,
I hope that this letter finds you well.
I am Ma. Margaret Golpe, a 3rd year AB Development Studies student from Ateneo de Manila University who is tasked, along with other group members from our Communication for Development class, to collaborate with an organization and craft a communication strategy which can help them further their goals.
I have proposed to my team to consider the field of microinsurance, with RIMANSI (Philippines) or specifically one of its members—Center for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD) MBA—as the potential partner for our project.
Our target audience would range from the Milennials to our own generation, which is Generation Z. The current global health crisis and its extensive impact on economies has prompted us to recognize the importance of money management skills in preparation for crises. When equipped with adequate financial knowledge (on the value of saving money, emergency funds, living below budget, debt management, investments, etc.), we would be able to better handle unanticipated events or even protect our futures. Financial literacy is a skill that can be developed, and upon further research, we were able to discover that your organization, including CARD MBA, is actively working to promote financial awareness by conducting educational training and workshops as a value-adding service for existing and potential clients. We also recognize the challenge to improve the mindsets of the youth towards the microinsurance industry. Your advocacy is something we would like to forward as well, and we would like to help you extend your reach to the public through digital platforms.
This is not to discard the need to retain direct contact with the more vulnerable sectors of society, such as farmers and those residing in disaster-prone areas, whose access to services that institutions like yours offer are often only made available through partner cooperatives in local communities. We acknowledge the core of the industry as well—providing risk protection and affordable insurance to those who are more socioeconomically disadvantaged. Losing a major breadwinner in a family is a tragic yet real event that can cause extensive financial problems for many, and Delmar Geronimo’s story is only one of the few that we know of. Already coupled with mental and emotional distress after losing his mother to a freak accident, Geronimo had to also immediately go through financial instability. CARD MBA was fortunately responsive and immediately assisted Geronimo and the family with the insurance their mother was entitled to since she was a member of the organization. With a weekly premium of only PhP 20, a client is already entitled to a life insurance and can be given a maximum benefit of PhP 100,000.
There is an upward trend in the field—data shows that Filipinos are opting for microinsurance, and roughly 40M Filipinos have already been reached by the industry as of September 2019. The Department of Finance is still targeting to bring this number further to 50M by 2022. Especially in a time that draws only more attention to the importance of money management, there may still be prospects in expanding the youth’s awareness of microinsurance as well as in enhancing their financial literacy all through a non-intimidating manner. Information campaigns can be designed together with your organization and may be released in different social media platforms to make educational materials and tools more directly accessible. The youth, provided with the right knowledge and skills, can even ultimately help more people become insured.
We are hoping for your kind consideration.
Thank you.

A principal virtude do novo Nivus é justamente o visual.

A tração é sempre dianteira.
VW Nivus 2021 – consumo
Etanol
Consumo de 7,7 km/l na cidade;
Consumo de 9,4 km/l na estrada.
Gasolina
Consumo de 10,7 km/l na cidade;
Consumo de 13,2 km/l na estrada.

Velocidade máxima de 184 km/h;
Aceleração de 0 a 1.000 metros em 32,1 segundos;
VW Nivus 2021 – concorrentes
Hyundai Creta Smart 1.6 AT – R$ 86.490
Renault Duster Intense 1.6 Xtronic – R$ 86.690
Ford EcoSport Freestyle 1.5 AT – R$ 87.890

Rhetoric
At the core of the matter, people don't want to have to make too much of an effort. Especially when they're happy. Perhaps more so when they're looking for someone to blame. What it comes down to, is that people want to live lives without conflict, either external or internal, because it causes discomfort. And if something causes discomfort, it is avoided, or ridiculed, or cast in the role of antogonizing at best, oppressing at worst.
This is my base assumption, anyway, upon which I make the following observations, as to why certain styles of speach/argument are so apparently effective on such a large portion of the population.
Unspoken Assumed Truths
The first offender, or should I say contributor to my inventory of rhetoric, shall be taken to be whom I unaffectionately call "Gumball guy". There was a video not too long ago making the rounds on facebook or some boor going around with gumballs, claiming he could explain the effects (or to use a word he'd probably find more appealing to his argument, consequences) of immigration using only his multitude of gumballs. Right off the bat, two things. He's saying he's going to simplify an obviously very complicated matter with multiple facets using children's sweets, and two, he says he's going to 'explain immigration' using gumballs. I will refer to this assumption that whatever he's going to say is indeed an 'explanation of immigration' (assumedly, as a phenomenon) as Ass 1 (as you can tell, I really don't like this guy). Now, let's get into his actual argument. He says that, since the point of immigration is to reduce the world's poverty level, it necessitates that we have a measure of the world's poor. Hence, each gumball, we shall say, is 100,000 people living below the poverty line. Ass 2: The point of immigration is to reduce the world's poverty level. I mean, what? Since when do countries perform this charity of letting in people of other countries who are below the poverty line specifically under the idea that letting these people will somehow magically lift them out of the poverty zone and therefore decrease the overall number of those living in poverty? I've never heard such an immediately stupid assumption. But this post is not about Gumball's guy's immigration video, it is on rhetoric, and so I digress. Gumball guy goes on to say that, because the countries in which there is a large level of poverty are reproducing at a rate below the poverty line that far outpaces the rate at which developed countries (like the USA, in his example) can let them in, in net, immigration is actually doing nothing to help reduce world poverty, and therefore, immigration and the allowing of the same are totally pointless and should be restricted. Did you see what he did? To the casual listener, more so perhaps to the listener who is inclined to believe a reason that can be used against immigration policy, there is no conflict of thought required. After all, he defined immigration's purpose, and showed quite handily with his gumballs that immigration does not fulfill that purpose. It therefore logically follows that his argument is valid. But this listener doesn't remember to question the basis on which his argument is made, because the speaker never explicitly says what his assumption about the purpose of immigration is. He never says "okay let's define what immigration is for, we think it is this" because that invites attention to it. Attention invites analysis, and analysis is the antidote to misdirection. And because he doesn't explicitly draw attention to this, the listener is all but fine to ignore it also, since it requires more mental effort on his part independently, to do so. Therefore, by never drawing attention to an analysis of his defined purpose of immigration, he allows (forces?) the passive listener to accept, even without the listener's knowledge, that his defined purpose for immigration, his assumption, is true. This is the clutch point. By not drawing attention to the base assumption, he can make whatever argument he wants, even as simple as the one he made using gumballs, and it comes across logical rather than fallacious in some way. It becomes a simple argument, and no one wants to fight that, because simple is nice. Logic is conflict free. Unspoken assumed truths lie at the base of all 'simplified' complicated issues.
The Relatable Misdirection
The first person who did this that made me realize this was a thing (perhaps I should have realized sooner?) was Simon Sinek. He had a video come out recently, or perhaps it has just been making the rounds recently, about Milennials and 'why we are the way we are'. I know, been done to death right? "Oh no, they take too many selfies, they're too self obsessed, they want everything handed to them, they don't want to work as hard" etc etc. 95% of it is generalizing rubbish. 5% of it probably true about certain individuals, as it would be for any generation. In any case, this Sinek video takes "the Curious Case of the Milennial in the Workplace", so to speak, and, since I'm here discussing rhetoric, not his video, and so I can get directly to his point, says that Milennials are the way they are because of a failure of parenting, but more so because of a failure of the workplace to recognize this failure of parenting and provide the appropriate guidance. Now, there are are so many things to be said to counter him almost immediately. Assuming he's right, why is the workplace's responsibility to provide the hitherto missing guidance? Let's not assume he's right at all, and chalk up his ideas of why milennials are any way to generational differences that seem to draw lines between any two generations. Or, we can consider one of the multiple other, more real factors, that probably contribute to milennnial unemployment, or unhappiness, or living at home (the three most commonly referred to problems of our generation, by the older generation who, apparently, were gutsy enough to do things the way they had to be done), like the worst economy to grow into since the 20s, a lack of environmental regulations, the rising problem of student debt. And those are just USA milennial problems, but of course, USA is representative of the world, to a lot of people. But coming back to his rhetoric, while we are poking holes in his arguments, there are more people who accept his statements as must-be truths. This is because of his set up to his assertions. He starts his video saying small things that milennials and others can relate to, differences between generations, endearing things that point out the differences without invoking contempt from older people nor defense from milennials. By doing this, he gains the favor of his audiance, which is all he needs, in the end. If the audiance likes you, they're much more likely to trust you, and if they trust you, they're more inclined to not put their mental faculties to work trying to find flaws in your argument. The easier they accept your assertions. This happens with senators too. When emailed or called about a certain policy or the other, a politician won't go directly to what he thinks he should do to achieve the results; no, doing so prematurely while you are still primed to disagree would be ruinous. Therefore, he will always start by setting the correct stage. Establish vague statements as shared goals, thinks like "we want every American to have a great life" and "we think all Americans deserve access to opportunity". Things that are vague enough and positive enough that you can't disagree, and things that establish a common ground enough to engender more trust and amiability with him than you were originally prepared to give. Then, when he gets into what specifically he's going to, he's primed you to be more receptive, and the problem is that those who do not want to dedicate more thought than they deem 'necessary', which is most people, decide they don't need to hear anymore, especially if it's a conflicting opinion that requires even more brain power to process.
This isn't a pejorative towards people who are less educated or less succesful at all; it's about a real trait humans have. We don't like conflict, especially within our own thoughts, and we'd rather not have to dedicate unnecessary energy towards the consideration of things that we feel comfortable leaving to people we trust. Which brings me to my last point.
Language
Using simple words seems to be the most easily implemented, and yet most easily overlooked, source of good oration. Using larger words, even if they facilitate conveying greater detail, becomes counter productive if your audience can't understand you, or worse, see it as condescending. It comes across complicated, and perceived unnecessary complication can be misattributed to attempts at deception. If you use simple words, even if what you're saying isn't correct, you can connect with people better: if they can understand you, they will trust you. Even if what you're saying is wrong. This US Presidential Election, case in point.
Conclusion
At the end of the day, it seems apparent that most people would rather not devote much brain power to things they think doesn't directly and, more importantly, immediately, affect them. This isn't a groundbreaking realization. But what I've come to understand more fully, and perhaps this is basic, is that what is of primary importance in persuading people that you have their best interests at heart is to get them to TRUST you. It doesn't matter if you have the better plan. It doesn't matter if you actually do have their interests at heart. None of these matter more if they trust someone else more than they do you, and now, with at least these three things fleshed out for myself, I have three new tools in my inventory to help me make (manipulative, a little?) others trust me.
And that's the first step towards making any real change.

Review for Game of Trolls
Today, we live in a Philippines torn between the horrors of its past and the fear for its present. With the dawn of issues such as th EJK and the resurfacing talk of Martial Law during the Marcos regime, for the modern youth, it’s not that easy to put these problems into perspective. We were born at a time before we could remember it, but were born in its aftermath. The Philippine Educational Theater Association, with their production “Game of Trolls”, sought to do just that.
“Game of Trolls” revolves around the life of Hector (TJ Valderrama), a modern milennial working for Bimbam (Vince Lim) the son of an Apo loyalist. There, he earns money by fighting against SJWs like his friend-zoned flatmate Constance (Galang Fernandez) by means of hacking, covering up Martial Law, and alternative facts under the pseudonym HecklerBelter on different sites. He also holds an angsty grudge against his mother, Nanay Terre (Galang Fernandez) who, ironically, also happens to be a former Human Rights activist during the Marcos Regime. After attempting to bury the casualties of the Martial Law under the “Cloud” (a software that masks information), he gets visits from ghosts of Martial Law past that open his eyes to the tragedy of Martial Law, and the falsities of his beliefs, in game shows and moving musical numbers.
I appreciate that it was a story that needed to be told. We cannot deny the reality of historical erasure. Many people beside me, and myself included were genuinely learning new things. But, having labeled itself as a “musical for millennials”, perhaps came a little to its detriment. It pandered too heavily to its target audience, and it showed. It assumes a lot of the generation it markets itself to, and sometimes dumps information on our shoulders as if a more sparse telling that did not require an info dump would suffice.
It at times (most evident through the unappologetic and sometimes
tiring use of pop culture sound effects) uses pop culture reference so much in an attempt to be relatable and hip to its audience that it risks being contrite. But, I still appreciated the other instances where pop culture is used cleverly as a lense with which to make martial law relevant to today.
That being said, I admired the play and its respect for its subejct matter. It was made in cooperation with the National Historical Commission, and it showed in how much facts they were able to teach us (or at times, simply tell us about, which is a huge difference).
I loved the main screen and the animation they utilized! I also ALWAYS appreciate PETA’s minimalist and yet creative set designs. They also used the theater to its full usability to tell the story, I loved the moments like when Nanay was talking about her experience during the martial law, how the sound effects were cleverly used to put us in the right astmosphere.
I also loved scenes Like the rap battle and the game show. The lines in these scenes were so artfully crafted, enjoyable, and yet directly addresses the problems, in a way I wished the rest of the script had consistently done. Whenever they explicitely spelled out the message they were trying to impart when it was already obvious, i found myself taken aback.
The play at times either treats us as one of two things: Ignorant angsty youth or smart individuals able to process complex information. This lead to an incoherence when it came to how they relayed the themes and messages. As I said, at times they found it necessary to spell out the message instead of visually telling the story??
I found myself disliking the romance portion (the one specifically crafted for the apparent sensationalism that creating for MILLENNIALS apparently required) the most. ESPECIALLY THE AMBIGOUS LGBT/GENDERFLUID CHARACTER WHOSE SEXUALITY WAS ONLY EVER PLAYED FOR COMEDIC PURPOSES !!!
NO, NOT ALL LGBTQ+ CHARACTERS NEED TO BE FLAMING SJWs BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT OK TO USE A CHARACTER’S SEXUALITY ONLY AS A MEANS TO STAY RELEVANT, RELATABLE AND SO YOU CAN BRAG ABOUT HAVING REPRESENTATION. WE DONT NEED MERE REPRESENTATION, WE NEED ACCURATE AND M E A N I N G F U L REPRESENTATION.
I understand that they wanted to keep us engaged and through focus groups found out that millennials responded best to romances (though I believe personally that Filipino culture could tell you this, without having to focus-group it) It is not an excuse to make a romance that I saw as trite and shoe-horned in.
There were moments where the “kilig” was completely unearned. Especially when the graohics at the back unambigously spelled their relationship out for me, that i at first wouldnt have gotten. Their romance served no actual movement to the plot, it was so background and unnecessary. I WISH they didnt have those grpahics at the back that spelled it all out for you because then we wouldve had to genuinely earn and realize for ourselves the chemistry they have.
THEY CLEARLY LIKED EACH OTHER FROM THE START so we never have any moments where the two love interests build an understanding and a genuine romantic bond with each other because FROM THE BEGINNING they were already crushing hard on one another and the only thing left was to say yes. We never got enough actual time devoted to setting up their romance BECUASE IT WAS SO BACK BURNED, IT DIDNT EVEN NEED TO BE THERE! They couldve stayed friends and it would have been almost completely the same.
For the review: Maybe something like: Some quote from the creator about millenials tas “And that’s exactly what you’ll get, so dont expect it to be much more than the romance put in for millenials’ attention spans than they intended,”
they spent way more time HECKLING EACH OTHER ONLINE than as actual friends, much less love interests !!! The plot was also quite… unclear at times? Not because they werent being explicit (THEY WERE) but beause the flow and the tonal shifts of each scene were so drastic that at times they were left feeling like two peices of completely different parts of the story.
We would go from crying to kilig to laughing in no time flat. We had no scenes where we were left to just appreciate the serene BECAUSE THERE WAS ALWAYS SOMETHING HAPPENING. Which is good for spectacle, but breathing space is something we would appreciate.
also, you cant be primarily motivated by angst and apathy. These are thibgs that usually lead one to non-action rather than TAKING A JOB AT THE ACTUAL MOST POLAR OPPOSITE THING YOUR MOTHER STOOD FOR. His motivation was to be a horrible person to his mom.
That does not make for a good and likeable character. What saved him though, were his jokes, and the humor thatvthe script peppered around him. As well as the excellent acting that hid the character flaws well.
THE VILLAIN HAD NO ACTUAL PERSONAL MOTIVATIONS. the script lacked an awareness of how motivation works in real life, so they created characters with often flimsy motivations that did things simply because the plot or situation called for it rather than because of any decision they conciously have to make.
MOST OF THOSE ACTUAL DECISIONS where made before the play even started, so this device that couldve been used to visually show character was instead poured into actual monologued lines. SHOW DONT TELL.
But ultimately, it’s something we had to see, especially for those of us with little to know knowledge on the Martial Law, it really helped but the play into perspective.
It did what it was set out to do, show Martial Law’s horrors while also being appealing to millennils. At its core, that’s what matters the most.
I remember my classmates and friends gushing about the play with fondness as we went put of the cinema. For all its flaws, it was able to imbed itself in the heart of its target audience.
It did not skirt around the issue with deep allusions and metaphors, it showed us how it was without holding back. And, in true José-Rizalian fashion, bared Martial Law out for everyone to see. And for that, I leave it a good 3.5 star rating and a hope to rewatch it again, that I may perhaps understand more and appreciate it.
