Game Speak
Tumblr media
Rated E for everyone Inter World... Have there been any games that you’ve ever been interested in playing that had no dialog or violence in it? It was nothing more than your just completing a goal. If you haven’t been in the past would you ever see yourself playing a game like this?
Let me know on my blog and pass the thought along using #goalgames.

Uh squiggles... Don't get me wrong I love your headcanons an all but I honestly don't think ironwood would stoop to that extreme. Namely because while he was a d**k to ozpin in volumes 2 & 3? He was shown to be carrying and sympathetic to wiess and was completely against the idea of making a profit off of war which would basically be "blood money". He may have been too gunho but I think the fall of beacon has shown him how brute strength isn't the answer but he has fully internalized it yet.
Hiya Jade. Here’s the thing about Ironwood in V2. It wasn’t so much that James was being an ass to Oz during that season. If I remember correctly, I believe their dispute was that Ironwood wanted to bring the full force of his army to Vale during the Vytal Festival Tournament. Oz was strongly against this suggestion from James since he believed that the presence of the Atlesian Military would serve to create more tension and unease in the people. This led to him and Ironwood butting heads on this matter but for the most part, James was calm with listening to Oz; at first. Especially when Glynda  chipped in to offer her own insight on trusting Oz.
Tumblr media
Remember Ironwood more or less complied with Oz’s wishes for most of that season’s plot. It wasn’t till what happened at the Vytal Ball with Cinder’s infiltration and the Grimm Attack in the central city that James ended up using that as leverage to go behind Oz’s back to the Vale Council.
Tumblr media
It is for this reason why I stand by my hunches about Ironwood for V7. I’m not trying to say that Ironwood is heartless.
On the contrary, Ironwood strikes me an honourable man. He is a soldier after all.And as a soldier, Ironwood has a devotion to safeguarding the lives of the people under his watch and protection and this is probably where he and Oz saw eye to eye. There is no doubt that Ironwood values the lives of humanity and will do anything within his power to fulfill that responsibility. The difference with Ironwood, however, is he also strikes me as the type of man who isn’t afraid to cross the line at times if it meant doing it for the greater good.
Tumblr media
My suspicions aren’t derived from me thinking that the General is an uncaring man, it’s just that sometimes his actions and s methods of achieving said actions can result in making others assume otherwise about him.
Tumblr media
In my eyes, Ironwood has proven himself in previous seasons to also possess a a sort of...let’s call it ‘arrogance’ about himself that’s probably rivals that of Ozpin’s; according to Cinder and Salem.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ironwood has been show to believe that his methods are what’s best and if he strongly things that his way is justy, he isn’t afraid to act out on it even if it means going behind his friends’ backs or over their head to do so.
The best examples of this behaviour are his behaviour and actions in V2. James couldn’t get Oz to back him on his original plan. The only reasonhe got his way was going behind Oz’s back to the Vale Council. At that point,Oz had no choice but to fold since James had backed him into a corner bybringing the Vale Council into their affairs and getting them to sign off onletting Oz allow James to do as he pleased. James forced Oz’s hand and what’s also interesting is how Oz quickly forgave James for that move.
What’s interesting is how Oz shows very little animosity in the face of dealing with friends who’ve more or less stabbed him in the back. Ironwood tattled on him to the Vale Council and got his way—he and Oz are still able to communicate as allies. Lionheart downright joined Salem’s side, aided her in the Fall of Beacon and even conspired to surrender Oz over to Salem as leverage and STILL; Oz looked past his betrayal and chose to remember Lionheart only for the good man he used to be. Not the coward he had become.
He did say Leo wasn’t the first. And he won’t be the last, either.
Tumblr media
In light of James, I believe he could potentially be another Lionheart in the making; though not in the same nature. For starters, General James Ironwood would NEVER side with Salem. That’s the one line I think Ironwood would never cross, even as a last resort. His devotion to the lives of his people matches that of Oz. So he won’t give into Salem even if she put a gun to his head and told him to fold. At least that’s how I see him.
Tumblr media
But what’s also worthy to note about Ironwood is that he is also similar to Lionheart in the sense that he has his own Baobab of the heart in the form of his fear. We saw what Lionheart’s fear brought him to. So I’m curious to see where Ironwood’s fear will lead him.
Again, not trying to paint him as a villain. However I’m not going to put it past Ironwood to pull another stunt he did in V2 but on a much grander scale.
Tumblr media
Atlas is Ironwood’s territory. You can more or less say that the Tin Solider is the King of Atlas considering his authority (which is ironically gives me huge Marvellous Land of Oz vibes since following Dorothy’s adventures, I believe the Tin Solider replaced the Wizard as the ruler of the Emerald City; not sure if I’m remembering this right) .
Nonetheless, not only is Ironwood the Head of the Atlesian Military and the Headmaster of Atlas Academy but he also has two chairs on the ruling Council of Atlas. Ironwood has a lot of power in Atlas and with all the unsubtle hints at our heroes questioning whether or not coming to Atlas is a mistake given the current state of the kingdom, I’m curious to know what will happen to them should they cross Ironwood.
Tumblr media
Another thing to  note about the General is his current  mental stability. It’s been highlighted since the events of V4 that Ironwood may not be in the best shape of mind at the moment given how much his fears have gotten to him.
It makes me wonder if Ironwood is even thinking clearly at the moment. What’s his driver?
Responsibility to his people no matter the cost? Or...mostly fear and desperation?
Basically what I’m saying here is I won’ put it past James to resort to extreme measures if he strongly believed, hand over his metallic heart, that it was done for the greater good of both the People of Atlas and Mantle.
Tumblr media
I didn’t share my Pinehead headcanons of Ironwood’s Immortal Legion on the grounds of James turning full-on cartoon villain and becoming dastardlyevil. I shared it because I actively think that this type of scenario mightplay into Ironwood’s own story for V7.
In a way, Ironwood reminds me of the Director from Red Vs Blue. The Director was also a brilliant man at the head of the strongest military projects backed by a few influential figures within the RvB universe. However at his core, the Director was also a very broken man—a grieving husband who had lost the woman he loved dearly and his own desperation to bring her back from the dead in some shape or form; even artificially, led him to commit shady, treasonous and downright inhumane acts that affected the lives of many characters within the show. This is how I kind of see Ironwood.
Tumblr media
At heart, he is man doing what he can to protect the people whose lives he swore to protect. He is willing to do anything he can to stop Salem but in his desperation, little by little he began to lose himself along the way to the point of committing acts that contradict his original motive.
I see Ironwood as a leading Man of the People, much like his Valerian counterpart in Ozpin, but unlike the Wizard, the Tin Soldier is willing to take more risks and wouldn’t hesitate to step out of line especially if he thinkshis way is right or the better way.
Or rather, Ironwood’s current state of mind might lend to him resorting to more extreme methods that he assumes is for the betterment of the people.
Ironwood strikes me as the type to be like “We have to do things my waybecause in my heart, my way is the  better way. You might see it right now but you’ll be thanking me later”
In a nutshell, I understand that you’re not a fan of Ironwood resorting to an extreme measure such as using Oscar’s soul in the creation of an army to stop Salem.
Buuuuuuuuuuuut…I’m sorry, this squiggle meister thinks otherwise. Imean, it doesn’t necessarily have to resort to that. However I do strongly feelthat some subplot is going to involve Ironwood turning on the heroes in someshape or form.
More like a betrayal in the sense that Ironwood will come to see our heroes as the enemy when they come to challenge him on his methods and way of doing things. Y’know that type of thing. That’s how I’m kind of seeing it. But who knows. I guess we’ll see how the season goes.
