Hey lovelies! Every now and again, we just like to do a little house cleaning and post some general reminders for everyone, especially as the group continues to grow:

If you change your url, even just for the season or a holiday, please be sure to let us know just so we can keep the masterlist up to date. We use the masterlist for activity checks so it's important that the url there is correct.

Speaking of updates, don't forget to also let us know when there's a life change for your character! Whether this is a new relationship, a breakup, or what have you, please just send us an ask or dm so we can keep our connections page up to date.

We also just want to post a friendly reminder to keep the dash a welcoming space. We're all here to have fun and the side blogs exist for you to vent out any frustrations/grievances/feelings you might have- after all, we want to make sure that Eclipse Media has plenty of content to go off of. We do not want to be seeing subposting on the dash.

The styles:

Sketch- just the early stage of the drawing, rough forms and somewhat messy lines. May include 1 rough color for emphasis;

Lineart- clean lineart with the brush of your choice (I have 3);

Flat colors- includes lineart and simple coloring, no shadows/source of light;

Shaded- includes lineart, more detailed coloring compared to flat colors, simple lighting/one source of light;

Painting- either pieces with no lineart (regardless of type of lighting), or those which have lineart + complex lighting/two or more sources of light.

My stupid guide to getting the stupid list of people YOU FOLLOW on tumblr

if tumblr has some way fo getting a list of usernames and urls of blogs you follow i don't know of it, if theres some script i don't know it, if theres anything. LET ME KNOW. but since i dont think there is welcome to my bruteforce method of getting a list of people you follow.

I am not a coder, i don't know how to do this with a program, and i dont know of any program that does it, no programmer thats going to or anything so im bruteforcing this in perhaps a stupid way but it works

go to your https://www.tumblr.com/following page

its just this same link, it takes you to the list of everyone you follow Then you need to load EVERY FOLLOWER by scrolling ALLL THE WAY DOWN the list, i have 2000 blogs i follow but ti doesnt take long for me to get to the end, yes you have to do this.

a box will come up, this might be scary for non techy people, don't worry were just looking at the code underneath the site, nothing you change will be permanent. dont mess around here unless you know kinda what youre doing, but dont be scared for what were gonna do.

there are several tabs to this new window, we want to be in the inspector tab, and when you mouse over the text in here you can notice that it flashes certain parts of tumblr. these different lines all pertain to certain spots of the webpage so you can see what tumblr wants you to see.

we want to find where they put the followers

so were gonna hover over:

and notice that the very center and only the center where you're followers are shown is lit up, that means inside this line somewhere is your follower list ((its not gonna be pretty)) use the little arrow on the side of this line and click it to expand the underlying code (this is really called nesting i think im not a coder, basically when there an arrow, theres stuff in there)

open the next arrow too (main something something)

keep hovering over the lines within this one and see which one lights up the center and only open that one, next one is "section something something" next class something something

now this might start to look familliar to you if you read all these "data-cell-id=" lines these are all the people you follows usernames,

I'm sure someone who knows how to code would be able to grab this in a neat way and put it in a text document for us, but i dont know how to do that i just know i want it.

so what i do is:

right click the line whose arrow we just opened to be able to see this and select "copy, inner html" this line to be clear

and i make a new notepad document(txt) on my computer, and i paste all that shit in there. and yes it looks like complete nonsense because everything is going everywhere with text you dont need or understand. dont worry about it. you still have all your list of following usernames in there.

now i used vs code(or visual studio code) (its a free program you can just get it if you want use google) and you dont even need to know any coding for this cleaning step. to clean this up, i open the document i created with all this shit in it in vs code and it has the capability to select every instance of a word or symbol or whatever and delete every single one, or replace it. it can also write with multiple cursors at the end of every line of text at the same time. so this way i can get rid of all this nonsense stuff to line up everyones usernames the way i'd like.

you can use google to figure out how to do this, or fuff about in vs code, but selecting a chunk and right clicking and choosing "change all occurrences" is what i used the most.

now if someone who actually codes could… help.. help me please.. dont let anyone else have to use this guide, there has to be a better way. thank you i love you

so. guess who finally understood how to organize themselves with their rp blogs! hopefully for the definitive time.

you might see a few changes soon, on here as well as a little -a will appear on the url. i'm moving blogs! again. but hopefully for the last time! i'm returning to dividing my blogs on different accounts, but this time with a little more thought put into how i do it. i eventually came up with the solution that seems perfect to me: i'll be on three accounts ( technically four, but. shh. ), each one with a hub blog for its sideblogs. they're already here, i'll fix them veeeery slowly - them, and all the sideblogs. some muses might disappear temporarily, but as i decide what to do with their blogs, they might reappear somewhere.

if you're interested in following them, the three blogs are:

• ghostories // the blog for horror-based and/or dark content centred muses ( dark fantasy, or muses that have to deal with very dark topics ): john will be moved there, such as clef if you followed him. the full list of muses will be on the blog. eventually. • ghostflying // the blog for pokémon muses. the more i go on, the more i realize i just prefer keeping the pokémon dash separated, so i'm going back to it. i'll likely make a sideblog for john's pokémon verse, to keep the dashes even more clean. • ghostcappuccino // ( my favourite url of them all ) the blog for everything else, really, but mostly intended as the "chill dash". knowing me, i will still roleplay heavy stuff in its sideblogs, but the muses will be from lighter places, like geno from super mario.

and that's it. <3 i won't put pressure on myself to make these blogs definitive and "perfect" as soon as possible, i will go very slowly with my own time, when i have some free moments between work and personal projects. but finally i feel i have a grasp on what the heck i want to do, which feels... nice. and relaxing. <3

☀ What's your rp pet peeve?

I have a few, so in no real particular order

Dropping threads/not replying to starters without saying anything. I try to be communicative about things when I can (although I'm sure I don't always succeed) and I'm happy to make changes, or move things in a particular direction, do a timeskip, location change, whatever if the need is there. What I can't do anything about, though, is when someone drops a thread with me or sees a starter I wrote for them and decides not to respond without saying anything to me.

It puts me in a state of like "are they gonna reply? should I send them a message or would that be bothering them? if I send in a meme or like their starter call, will they be annoyed because we already have something and they're just working on it? I understand that not every thread can continue for 40+ replies, and not every starter is a 10/10 out the gate, but I can't know what's up if people won't tell me.

Blatantly ignoring easily-available information (especially for ship purposes). This doesn't happen too much anymore, but it used to happen with some frequency, where people who I barely knew, or hadn't written with much, would pitch me on things that contradicted some of the most basic things on my muses' pages. There's a lot to read and everyone makes mistakes on things sometimes, that's not really an issue, but, for example, on some of my other blogs there was a small pattern of people trying to pitch m/f ships for my lesbian characters, when my character's sexuality was like the third line from the top on my page.

Way too much OOC content. People can run their blogs as they like, and it's not my right to tell people what they can and can't do, however, something that personally drives me a little crazy is when I see a new RP blog that will make upwards of like ten posts a day that are aesthetic posts, OOC life updates, shipping calls, memes, and other miscellaneous posts, while answering IC memes or writing threads maybe extremely infrequently. I remember on another blog following someone, and at the point where I softblocked them, they were making three or four posts a day, without fail, and yet I had to go back over two months to find IC content. It's just not really compatible with how I like to handle my experience.

Blog hopping. I understand that there are valid reasons to archive or delete a blog and remake it, but occasionally I have seen people go through like a blog every month or two, or go from having a single-muse blog, to putting their character on their multi, to making a new single-muse, to remaking the multi and putting them there again, to putting them on a single-muse again, etc. etc. The explanation that I often hear is that people want a clean slate, or things got too crazy, they want to get away from some problem, or something like that, but then they will keep the same URL, the same aesthetics, re-follow all the same partners, keep the same ships, etc.

The analogy that I use is like, if you have bedbugs, moving to a new apartment but bringing the old frame, mattress, and bedding is not going to help you. Sooner or later you're going to have the same problems again. For me, as well, it's a struggle to keep up with past threads or interactions, conversations that might have been had in IMs, etc. if they're spread out across lots of different blogs. It's just not really an impulse I understand, and I find it disruptive, especially when consistently paired with dropping all threads and wanting to start new threads with the same characters.

So, I know this is going to sound a little bit heretical, but I am going to give a little bit of praise to tumblr's recommendation/exploration system

Now, before you break out the torches and pitchforks, hear me out!

My blog got apparently hacked and then deleted a couple of days ago. There was nothing Tumblr could do about that, apparently.

And that, ...well, it sucks.

But if that's what the situation is, well, then, so be it.

So that meant remaking my blog and sideblog and whatnot. And so that's what I've been doing.

The biggest problem though, is rebuilding the list of people/blogs that I was following. Like sure, I remember a bunch of ones I interacted with pretty frequently - Mutuals that were regularly active, prominent accounts, etc.

But I had my account for 10 years, that's a long time, accumulating blogs that I followed. And sure, many of the oldest ones have fallen by the wayside, but many others were still there, just not always at the tip of my tongue (I've always been a bit of a digital hoarder, reluctant to ever "clean out" my follow/friends lists, even if, like someone hasn't logged into Steam in 10 years).

Some people change their URLs like their linens, so the name I associate with them might be three or more changes out of date.

Some people had names that I remember the vague idea of, but not the specific phrasing. Let alone specific spellings and numbers.

Some people have blogs that aren't easily searchable - Either accidentally or by design.

Some people didn't post much that on their own that I can clearly remember, but liked and reblogged a lot of my posts, so despite them being wonderful, their names didn't stick as hard as other people's

Sometimes my brain just plain fumbles things and utterly forgets someone that I really ought to remember.

So I've been scrambling, trying to remember names, trying to even get close enough that search can find them (which doesn't work as well with most people's normal accounts - which generally don't have huge followings. Occasionally, I'll get a flash of insight and remember someone that I'm hoping to find back. Occasionally, I'll get lucky and someone who was following both me and someone I haven't been able to find yet will reblog something from them.

Bit by bit, I'm slowly carving my comfortable little corner of the internet back out. It's not quite the same. I can't be quite as cozy knowing there's people out there I've lost track of.

So, now we come to the heresy:

The explore / recommended for you sections have actually been pretty useful in finding some of those stray accounts. It's not perfect, and there is a lot of wading through blogs I'm not necessarily interested in, but it has helped me find several of the blogs I was looking for. Some were kinda low-hanging fruit that I probably would have realized eventually, sure. But others have been people that I'm genuinely grateful to have been nudged towards.

I guess their algorithm or whatever is pretty decent at figuring out my weird little intersection of interests and finding back people that line up well with that, which happen to be people I used to follow or followed me.

And yes - Further heresy, some of those recommendations are people I hadn't been following/aware of. But y'know what? They absolutely are up my alley, so sure, I'll give 'em a follow.

And yeah, I guess this means once this initial flurry has settled down, I'll maybe check those recommendations with some intermittent frequency.

Now, the part I feel will be least controversial, because it complains about these things they've done:

I'm quite unhappy that in losing my account, I've lost all my grandfathered-in structural rules, and that now, my account auto-defaults to the "For You" feed instead of the "Following" feed. And that "For You" is locked to be the first tab and always on, even if you have the other tabs disabled.

I'm grumpy about how my "Following" feed will still get people I'm not following in it - Though I'm led to believe that should decrease the longer I'm around and the more content I'm already following.

I utterly loathe that they make you follow several tags (annoying but not bothering anyone personally) and several blogs before you even have a chance to get yourself set up - IIRC, it wouldn't even let you search for specific blogs to follow there, just what they recommended - So I'd just be some rando blank blog that showed up in the mentions of these people and then disappeared when I inevitably unfollowed to curate my feed my own way. PLUS, even if I could look for my faves again, would I want to follow them as a blank new blog (that I was lucky enough to get my name back on)? Would I just look like another bot to them? Would I look specifically like a bot that's somehow trying to fake being someone they recognize? (At least there's a bypass whole process to this if you open a new tab/window of tumblr).

I'm quite unhappy about how obtrusive the "push algorithmically-determined content" drive is. Because honestly, if they just left it somewhere unintrusive and framed it as "Hey, would you like to look for some other people that would probably fit well in your feed?", it probably wouldn't ruffle nearly so many feathers as it has.

But no.

For whatever reason, they make it mandatory and override user preferences.

Circling back to that "curate your feed thing" that I mentioned - You know what would actually be a good use of those dashboard tabs - Customizable ones. Not just Following/Tags/Popular/etc. But ones that you could use to make lists of specific groups of blogs you're following so that you can focus on something if you're in the mood for it, or looking for your favourite bunch of posters, or if you want to follow some spicy blogs, keep them from popping into your main feed when you're using mobile, and have a list that's dedicated to them, or at least, allows them in the main feed only during specific times/circumstances.

Greater customization and curation of your own feed! Wouldn't that be wonderful!?

The control over my feed was what I loved so much about tumblr compared to pretty much any other social media site. But enshittification is what it is, and tumblr certainly is falling prey to it - Albeit at a slower rate than some other sites, for sure. If they were among the first sites to actually take steps to push back against it, they might have a pretty solid hook.

But I suppose that is easier said from here than done from their HQ.

But, like, they could try something, right? Anything?

A PSA

Hey! If you’re new here! You might’ve noticed that we have a BIT of a bot problem! And staff isn’t really doing much about it! A lot of users have taken to cleaning up the trash on their own, and some innocent people who are new to the site might get caught up in a wave of blocks and reports just for following a blog! Here’s how to avoid that!

1) Give your blog a title.

Just put a title on your blog. Your URL is one thing, but  just name your blog something. Even something as simple as “Not a bot” or “Just lurking” or even something more creative can help save you from a block!

2) Choose a profile picture

Find a picture of something you like! Make your blog unique! Google’s right there, so go get a profile picture and differentiate yourself from these random triangles and balls, or worse, the people with nearly/nude women as their picture! Most people won’t block if they sense a pulse, and having interests is a very not-bot thing to do! So express that!

3) Write a description!

You don’t have to get personal! Just put something unique! Unique here meaning “Different and doesn’t sound like something a bot would do”. Even a simple “Just lurking” or “Not a bot” will usually do. Don’t layer that on too hard though, or people might get suspicious! Just differentiate yourself so we don’t end up sweeping you up in the waves of blocking the spam!

4) Reblog things!

This isn’t twitter! There is no algorithm! Likes don’t do anything! Help the blogs you like seeing by spreading their posts via reblog! It shows you’re a real person, and engages with the community with MINIMAL effort! Know what bots won’t do? Reblog a really funny post that tumblr user beans-4-hire with a clever joke about a thing they’re into. Bots tend to reblog porn. Just porn. Share literally anything else and you’re fine

5) Change your URL!

The default urls read like a collection of unrelated words and act as a placeholder. Just choose one that isn’t “fantasticallyovertgiraffes” or something. Your goal here is just to look like you’re not a bot, and this is a really powerful step to doing so. Don’t use your real name, follow basic internet etiquette, and maybe include something that interests you. Think of it like an old AOL screen name or something. You can even use those if they’re not too embarrassing!

6) Act like a human

Humans are unpredictable. Do what you like. Share what you like. Be what you like. Interact as little or as much as you want. Variety is the spice of life, and if you’re alive, that means you’re not a bot and unlikely to get falsely flagged as one, and thus blocked and reported.

I'm coming back!

I really, really wanted to preface this with some kind of reference, like "And when the world needed them most-" or something, but that felt like it would be too arrogant.

Never mind! Damn, has it seriously been almost half a year? I must be getting old because time is speeding up, oh hell. Anyway, I never really planned on being away for so long, I was thinking closer to a month. But! In the next few days/week I shall be returning to active duty, so to speak.

Might be slow. I have *checks clipboard* over three hundred asks to address. Whoa nellie. Sure, some of them are probably repeats and I'm sure some of them are no longer relevant based purely on age, but I shall read every single one and try to answer everything! I have skimmed through only a couple of times and some of the kind messages I got have already warmed my heart. Say it with me, say it guys, #MyAnonsAreTheBest.

I also need to actually get caught up with HPHM. Yeah, I haven't been playing and I'm a little behind on following the updates to the story. As in, half a dozen chapters or so. Ahaha. Whoops. Oh well, just means I can marathon Akemi Stormborn's videos. On a related note, go check out Akemi's HPHM Let's Play! The extent of my knowledge at the time of writing this basically sums up as "Peregrine, you bastard." But that's hardly news.

Oh, something else to announce! I said a while back that I was doing some housekeeping on my blog. I kind of need to resume that, and one of the things that will include is changing my URL. Been meaning to get around to it for a while, as I already have something in mind. Just wanting to announce that ahead of time to avoid confusion. I also have other mega-posts and such I've created or plan to create. This is like cleaning up my room! (Come to think of it, I need to clean up my room...)

This also brings me to my nickname, because "parva noctua" is Latin and means "the little owl". My favorite grandpa used to call me "owl" when I was little. When I Created This Blog: This one must be three years old right now. There was another, I created... 7 or 6 years ago, when a friend showed Tumblr to me.

What I Post: Changes from time to time, a lot stuff's deleted, because I felt bad about Tumblr at the time and even considered to leave for good. But here we are today, still here, still posting "this or that." and weird rantings.

Last thing I googled: Bed frames, industrial style (comparing prices, looks and feautures) Due to some changes at home, my mom and I started painting and renovating some rooms.

Followers: Tumblr says 431 (varies from week to week) I guess, most of them are bots, because there are a lot of... x-rated pages in my notifications now and again. And most of my posts get 5-20 notes. Three years ago, there were a lot more - especially during the #ringsy or #toris "era" xd Sometimes I miss "good ol' times", but things change and what remains are some funny, some weird, some sad, some freaky and a lot of happy memories.

Average Hours Of Sleep: 5-6 during the past few months (rarely restful and refreshing) In the daytime, I felt sleepy and dumb - it's slowly getting better now. Lately I get up to 7 hours of (better) sleep.

Lucky Number: 5 due to my birth month and 9 (love the shape)

Instruments: This user is absolutely not musical, but loves to warble her favorite songs. I remember one day in improv theater (behind the mixing console): One of the younger groups performed to music and I was quietly humming/singing along to the song. The guy next to me (an intern, too) just said: "Just stop it already!" Me: "What's the matter? I know, I can't sing. I'm just one of those singing-in-the-shower people. It's just for fun." Top 3 Fictional Universes I Would Like To Live In:

1. "Grimm", actually. I like the idea of Grimm's (and other's) Fairy Stories being real in this kind of way. Wesen, creatures (apparently human) only visible for Grimms. Sure it's a potentially dangerous world to live in, but it's also truly fascinating and full of surprises. I mean, a vegetarian Blutbad (Bad Wolf) doing Pilates for a peaceful "let's not let this get out of hand, I just had the carpet cleaned" lifestyle. And I also like the idea, that there's more in the world than meets the eye.

2. An "The Three Investigators AU" with bit less of stereotypes, though. The german radio plays of "Die Drei ???" is kind of a cult for so many generations since 1979. For 42 years now there are the same three voice actors for Justus/Jupiter, Pete and Bob - and I guess, that's part of its success. So I've been thinking lots abt making a softer sideblog recently but today I realized I wanna do a lot more than that.

I wanna make a whole new acct for this blog and have it be like my nsfw one where I only post n rb my own content. But instead of being horny posting it'll be blabby posts n cuter/cleaner pics. Then I wanna make a sideblog to get back to a softer, brighter aesthetic, cuz looking back on that stuff is my fave way to calm down when I'm stressed.

Then I wanna make a sideblog on my nsfw acct so I can follow n rb sex workers n horny stuff from other ppl. (I might do an aes theme for that one but I'm not sure yet.)

It seems like it'd be lotsa work but I've been good abt not pressuring myself to post on my nsfw blog when I'm not in the mood, so I think I'd be ok if I just stay patient w myself.

I don't want this blog to be here anymore but I'm proud of several posts so I'll be reposting them there, along w my art n little pages. It'll be work but I want so much for a clean start since I only made this blog in the first place to get away from SW Twitter stress lol. it's changed a lot in good and bad ways for the past couple years, but it holds connections to some rly tough times and I hate that.

Established in Spooky October of 2018, they’ve been around the RPC for a good long while as a Team Rocket Scientist OC, but here’s a looksee at some things you may have not known !! Ditto hopes you enjoy getting to know the writer just as much as Ditto did !!

♡ Interview... START !!

Ditto would like you to introduce yourself a little bit. The url you go by, maybe how you picked it. Was it a joke at first that you just stuck with, does it have significant meaning?

The username is what people would call a lover of blood. I started Jax in … 2018? Octoberish and he had the common username including Rocket in it and I decided to pick a theme more fitting to him. Eventually I settled with the current one as it fits him as a blood obsessor to put it bluntly. I mean he likes blood, works around a lot of it and all that so it just… Well, stuck!

Was there something about Team Rocket in general that drew you in? Over other ‘evil’ organizations, Rocket is considered the OG & probably largest. But, over Plasma/Galactic, what made you choose Rocket?

I’ve always been a Rocket fan. I started in the Pokemon fandom (can you call it a fandom back then) in 1998 when I was only eight by watching the anime. You could say that Rocket started my love for bad guys actually! I used to adore Jessie and James so much. They were just so fun, funny and adorable. Maybe I had a crush on one… Ahem! But yes, as a kid I fell for the trio (I didn’t forget loveable Meowth there!) and ever since then I’ve been a fan. I love all the bad guys mind you but Rocket holds a special place in my heart. Just always been like that.

A bonus question !! Did any characters from the original Anime / Franchise…  help you develop Jax at all?

A good question but Jax actually was inspired by a character I role played in a completely different fandom. I mean you cannot compare them - Jax is a human with so many faults and the other character is… Well, a plain old monster. But when I first made Jax I put little bits of the old character into him, such as formal speaking and love for blood. He started pretty much as a clean slate. I evolved him over the first few weeks.

Do you think that, because you play a character that is not a ‘good guy’ or as you put it, a monster, that people that may not know you well find you hard to approach?

Indeed so. Though I only speak of experience in the past here! When I played my full out monster in another fandom, people would tell others they were actually scared of me on an OOC level. Needless to say I’ve spoken to many people who were scared and helped them realise that it is just a muse I play. When it comes to Tumblr I find the fandom much more open and less afraid? Though I don’t know for certain because people could be afraid for all I know and I just don’t know. I hope I’m approachable enough anyway!

So then !! To help the part community that may not know you well, or might be a little hesitant because you play a blood loving bad guy, what are some things that you may have in common with everyone? Do you have a favorite pokemon? Or a region that just was WACK & you loved it so much? What’s on that most repeated playlist you got? Or maybe a few movies that you really love?

I read every blog’s rules and I’ve noticed that a lot of people are socially anxious. Which to be fair… I am too! I get nervous around people I don’t know and aahhhh, well, I’m in the exact same boat. We all start as strangers and all it takes is one foot forward to break that ice but, like others, I do find that first step very intimidating. I’m just your average nerd to be fair haha. As for my favourite Pokemon? Sneasel! I fell in love with that little critter after watching the Celebi movie when it came out. Favourite region would be Hoenn. I just have fond memories of it I guess as a Ruby fan. It was the first game my battery ran out of energy on. My music is too horrific for anybody’s ears if that’s what you mean hah. And movies? … … Digimon the movie (1+2+3 in Japan and just the first (all three combined) in UK and presumably other places too).

As someone who feels that weird wiggle when trying to step out of your comfort zone to make friends. Do you have any advice for people that want to get to know you better? Or, reaching out to people in general?

When reaching out to me - or anybody else - I find the best approach can be a simple hello. It instantly shatters that ice between two people. Like… Many of us are afraid to simply say hello. But if you manage to break that first bit it’s amazing! If you don’t there is always another day. Conversation can escalate from a mere hello. Or even reply to an open post if serious or funny! That first step is the hardest indeed but things get easier after that first hurdle. The worst someone can do is walk away and then perhaps it just wasn’t meant to be. Everybody has friends in the end and making more is great.

That said. We all know how the Poke RPC has its ups, & its downs. Sometimes both happen in one day. LOL. There is always room for growth though, & Ditto believes that everyone can work together to make that happen. Is there anything you would like to see change in the community?

Everything in life will come with ups and downs, it’s just how things go. We can all work through things however. If something bad happens there’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. As a community it is great we can all work on whatever needs addressing. I understand some people rather turn a blind eye depending upon the situation. We all should work on what makes us comfortable. Nonetheless, if I could change one thing I’d change anon hate. Argh. That’s one thing that gets under my skin. We, as a community, should be open to criticism and praise alike and nobody should need to harass another person anonymously. If someone has a disagreement then they should tell the person. Only that way can they work on the issue. But then again there is needless anon hate without true purpose behind it and that makes me sad. But nobody is perfect and sometimes people will rear their ugly side. Yet when anon hate has popped up it has been utterly overwhelming to see everybody support each other with kindness!

Ditto wonders, do you think anon hate may… slow down, or go away, if it was ignored instead of responded to when received? Most times, the people that feel the need to do hurtful things to others is for response. The attention received whether it is good or bad.

I think it’s highly dependent upon the situation. As someone who has received hate in the past (not on Tumblr mind you) I found that even ignoring people doesn’t work. Yet every case is different. Some do it for response, some do it to just get under someone’s skin. We can’t tell which however. If, say, it is needless hate then to ignore it would be the best option, even reporting it to Tumblr’s staff. But if in the situation something needs defending like a misconception then it could be a good idea to clear the air. Keyword could though. I’ve learned that people will get ideas into their mind and battle for it rather than accepting what is truth. In those cases a good air clearing is good and then to ignore any further.... Jabbing could be best. But if people feel the need to respond they should have the freedom to, as well as the freedom to ignore it.

Is there anything you’d like to pass on to those in the RPC that receive anon hate? Maybe a word of advice, or just something supportive to remember if it ever happens?

Well, as long as someone isn’t breaking any rules, doing something bad OOC or whatever- Actually I was going to say they should keep going and doing their thing. And yet I feel the need to mention that all people make mistakes in their lives. Anon hate is a bad way to go. The person on the receiving end of a message is a person too. They have feelings and thoughts and a life also. If you ever receive anon hate then just remember that there’s someone sending it and perhaps they don’t realize their mistake. That isn’t to say it’s justified. Just that people do indeed forget there are real people involved. … I think I word things bad! I mean… Anon hate is wrong, end of. But it is so easy to forget that real people are sat to read it. If you ever get anon hate then it is best to ignore it. That spark could evolve into a full blown fire and make you worse off. Hm, I forgot my train of thought but in the end we all need less hate and to just enjoy ourselves. People tend to send hate from bad experiences with the person or disagreements if right or wrong on either side but words are just words on a screen. They can say all they want to you but you are you. You are a person who deserves a life and love and no mere text on a monitor - Or phone screen! - can ever truly harm you.

Ditto thinks you did a fine job. We all take time to find words in our own ways, & no one has the perfect ones all the time. So please do not worry about wording things. It takes some practice sometimes, when you’re put on the spot !! 

Ditto would like to wrap up with something uplifting & super positive. After your time here in the Poke RPC, what are some of your favorite memories? Things that make you stick around, or just enjoy seeing go on? Give Ditto a little insight ( & the RPC too ) on what makes you happy to be here.

I have a vast array of good memories. Mainly ones of that first move of saying hello to someone or just that first interaction. Then again you’re asking someone with a bad memory! I truly just enjoy seeing people having a good time, enjoying their time here. When people are comfortable enough to do crack threads, that’s something that makes me smile. For instance the RPC could have been super strict and look down upon anything not considered serious and yet there everybody is just having fun! I enjoy watching people get along all in all. When new relations are formed, plots explored, the crack-like threads that ensue. Dash commentary is always a favourite. It shows someone isn’t afraid to get involved. I like it when people aren’t afraid. As I said, we’re all humans with lives and just watching people have fun makes me smile, even if I’m not involved. And of course, being involved in things makes me happy too, to just be included :D

hi- I’m not sure if you’re the right person to ask, but I wanted to know how to start a fanfic writing tumblr- I mean, I’m just not sure how to start since I’ve never posted anything on my account- I’m sorry if this is an inconvenience-

Don’t worry about it. I’m a little offended that you would think you’re coming to the wrong place 😂.

Imma break it down for you.

First of all, if you’re on tumblr mobile, then that’s fantastic and we’ll start with that first. If you’re on desktop, I would like to suggest getting it on your phone because it’s more accessible and easier to manage than doing it on the computer. The only time I go to the computer is when I’m going to post fics, but we’ll get there.

I know you said you’re wondering how to start posting fics but I gotta give you some advice before that. Because there are just some things I cannot stand when it comes to some fanfic blogs, alright?

Be easy on your color scheme. I wouldn’t put any bright colors because it could hurt someone’s eyes, and sometimes it looks really bad. Going along with that, you should be careful what your second color is on your blog (let’s say that your base color was a maroon, and then you’d choose a color similar to that/darker than that. It’ll be hard to read the things in your bio, and it’s frustrating)

This is obvious, but make sure you have a profile and header picture, it’s more appealing rather than tumblrs default.

Turn ON asks and then proceed to do it for anonymous questions, because that’s the only way you get requests. Some people do it off anon but that’s not as common.

You can do this on desktop and a safari browser. It’s not possible to do on mobile just yet. Open up safari > log in > little person icon in the top right > edit appearance. Scroll until you see “let people as questions” turn that on. Turn on anon, and edit the box to whatever you want. Keep it short

Turn off “share posts you like” and the following one below it. It’s a risky game to play when it comes to what you’re looking at and liking.

No submission posts, normally people don’t submit things anyway. Turn OFF “on blog advertising” and then that’s it. It automatically saves so you can just leave to the next screen imma bout to tell you about

IF you go to my blog on desktop, you’ll see that there’s a theme. My font is different, I have a different set up than most blogs, etc.

If you wanna mess around with that, scroll to the top of page (you should still be on the same page from the anon instructions) and tap “edit theme”

It might take a second to load, but you’ll get there.

THIS SCREEN IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Besides the fact that it lets you edit your theme, this is how you put in a Masterlist, and all other links you might want in your bio.

You said you haven’t written anything yet, so there isn’t a need for a Masterlist just yet. But when you DO start posting, please come back to me and I’ll let you know how to put one in your bio, okay? Nice and shiny for your future followers.

If you wanna change your theme go to browse themes, change it from “all themes” to “free themes”. If you like mine, it’s called “Accesible”. If you just want the font, get out of the theme screen and scroll the screen on the left. Turn ON “open dyslexic

Remember, you can do all of this on desktop too, it doesn’t have to be on safari

Now onto posting, I have some opinions that might offend my mutuals (oopsie)

I can’t tell the difference, but PERSONALLY, I think posting fics on tumblr from my phone is gross. But that’s also because I’m writing 1000+ words normally and it gets difficult to post

If you want to post fics with more than 100 paragraphs, then you have to go to desktop or maybe safari tumblr (I don’t post from safari tumblr so idk if it works) because tumblr says NO paragraphs after 100 on mobile. There is no restriction on computer

I write in Google Docs, because it’s neater and I’ve discovered some hate for Word after deleting some of the shit I wrote over and over. Plus it’s an app, and you can open it up on computer. Easy to use.

If you use Notes on your phone, or type directly onto a tumblr post, then that’s fine but you don’t know your word count and it’s a little difficult to navigate.

When it comes to formatting, I used to have it be really long. But I’ve narrowed it down to 3, sometimes 4 things.

Summary: this is where I put the request so the anon/person knows that it’s their request. (I copy n paste the entire request in the summary part, I don’t answer asks (requests) anymore because it’s easier to answer them after I posted).

Warnings: my permanent is swearing, and then I add on (what type) violence, murder, suic*de, gore, etc DEPENDING ON THE REQUEST

Word count: and I do this because I write long imagines sometimes and some people don’t want to sit through 5k words of boring shit

And the optional—Note: I put this if I thank someone for their patience on the request, if I say happy holidays or some shit like that. I don’t have notes on every post anymore because they just turn out being the same every time

Apart from that, give it a title (make it unique but not too long!) who it’s for and then copy and paste the fic in

I’m using my own posts as an example right here, okay. But I have the summary and all of that bolder because it’s easier to see, and I want it to be different from the actual post. Most fanfic writers do this.

I also put 2 —‘s between the authors note at the top and the fic to also make a difference there

Don’t have the entire fic italicized, it takes away the special part of italicizing a word

Finally, it’s tagging.

I cannot stress this enough, DO NOT tag things that have nothing to do with the post. It’s my biggest pet peeve and it’s because I can’t comprehend why people tag (for example) Katrina Stuart when it’s a fic OR A RANDOM POST about someone else

Instead, let’s keep it simple.

I forgot to mention this. But choose your username wisely. You can change it later on, but it’s a goddamn pain in the ass when you have 50+ fanfics you wrote and your Masterlist is nice and clean only to realize that you have to RELINK every post individually

Listen, I changed my username on my old blog, and it took me 8 hours ROUGHLY to relink and fix every individual Masterlist. I had to create new masterlists, with so many tabs open to fix it

Instead, change it before you start fics

If you wanna be a colby brock blog, I have a canon url (which means that it’s so fucking GOOD and I’m angry that i realized it was open only a month ago rather than when I created this account) and it’s colbysbrocks (it’s a plural canon url). And I have colbysecrets too. If you don’t like either of those, I have a couple of other ideas that I wrote down if you want them

This is how you should tag:

Your username first, the person it’s about, the fandom (if it’s not Colby brock, then something like marvel, etc). Then the persons name, imagine, fanfic, x reader, and oneshot. Then if it was requested

Simple, right? You can even use this method for Wattpad too.

EXAMPLE TWO:

Notice that I tagged both of his names. I do this because it draws more people in, and more people will be attracted to it (however, in the Star Wars fandom there’s a difference between Ben Solo and Kylo-Ren, so you would have to specify in the title Ex. Resistance (Ben Solo) or Struggle (Kylo-Ren). It would depend on which persona you’re using

This works for a couple of fandoms, like twilight and shit like that

EXAMPLE THREE:

(Final one, I just wanted to cover this base just in case)

If it’s a request for more than one person. Let’s say Colby Brock and Sam Golbach (like a Polyamorous relationship, if it’s just about a bunch of people, tag the people in it and don’t put the imagine, fanfic, x reader, oneshot after any of them, it doesn’t apply)

If it’s a poly relationship (or maybe more) then do everything you normally do for one person, and then just add on the second;

Azurebrock, Colby brock, Sam Golbach, Colby brock imagine, Sam Golbach imagine, etc

If you’re on desktop, I would suggest putting in a Read More (this goes BEFORE your fic but after the authors note, below the 2 —‘s). The way you do that is press enter, and hover over the new break in the fic.

Off to the right you’ll see a . . . Click that and then you have the read more. I would only suggest using this if there’s more than 500 words, so that if the fic is super long, it doesn’t take up the entire dash for the follower (it takes forever to scroll and it’s annoying

If you’re on mobile, it isn’t possible. Just post and you can go back and edit later if you have a computer

i’ve been wanting to come back here for a while now, but for some reason i just feel... really stressed out and nervous about doing so?? mostly the feeling that, like, nobody rly cares that much if im here or not and its gonna be rly hard to find rp partners and deal with possible rejection from old ones who might just not be interested in me anymore

also, this blog is like 2 years old now. the vast majority of my followers are inactive. i need to clean my dashboard up, too, and just... do general housekeeping.

so i’m moving to a new blog. same url, same basic deal, just cleaning shit up and making things a little bit more presentable.

 it is not yet complete, obviously. some changes to the rules are gonna be made, i’m gonna be non-fandom-affiliated to encourage crossover interactions, and... some other small things.

one MAIN THING is this: i am NOT going to follow anyone from my old blog on my new blog on my own. i am going to queue this post up to post multiple times a day for a week or two. anyone who is still interested in interacting with me, PLEASE follow the new blog to show me you’re interested, and i will most likely follow back if we were mutuals before and i can still see us interacting. if you choose not to, there will be no hard feelings and no questions asked.
