On the topic of "fun" birthdays.
Has anyone seen the movie «Mickey's 60th Birthday»?
Tumblr media
Mickey uses the Sorcerer's hat to fix the party, but some sorcerer curses him for it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And until Mickey finds his own magic, people won't recognize him. Mickey literally ends up on the street...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And while he's wandering around somewhere, the world is going crazy - Mickey Mouse is MISSING! And Donald is blamed for what happened...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know there are a couple of fanfictions about this movie (and they're pretty sad...), but how many people even know about this movie?
And, more importantly... WHY THE HELL IS THIS NO-NAMED SORCERER ACTING LIKE THE OWNER OF THE HAT?!

Happy 60th birthday (anniversary) Ludwig von Drake and sorry for the delay!
Although I'm already late, two weeks ago, on September 24, that date, back in 1961, Ludwig von Drake appeared for the first time, created by Walt Disney and designed by Bill Berg, Milt Kahl and Ward Kimball. The genius duck scientist and inventor (though more of an inventor Gyro Gearloose), also Donald’s uncle, first appeared in “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” and 60 years have passed since then. He has appeared frequently in cartoons, comics, video games, various commercial brands, toys and the like, he is also a mascot at Disneyland. Not to go any further, here are pictures of almost all the present appearances of the genius duck and one of my favorite characters in cartoons and comics, also partly in video games. Yes, and I apologize for posting this late, a lot of work so I didn't get to post this either. I hope you understand me. Here are pictures of Professor Ludwig von Drake:

I also wanted to put a drawing of Matilda (Scrooge's sister) with Ludwig by Don Rosa, but since it's not exactly his drawing, I'll still put a link here: https://scrooge-mcduck.fandom.com/wiki/The_Winning_of_Matilda_McDuck
If you are a fan of him, feel free to like this or reblog this. And once again I apologize for the delay, but HAPPY BIRTH TO LUDWIG VON DRAKE!

Rescue Rangers movie review
Hoo boy. I have a lot of opinions about this... thing. And a lot of mixed emotions.
The good:
Making fun of poorly made reboots and remakes. It’s about time somebody with a lot of clout (Disney that is) came out and said “hey these are terrible”. For years I’ve felt like too many animation fans have been too apologetic about these sort of things. The fact that Disney of all people, who are one of the main makers of such reboots/remakes, let someone do this is pretty amazing. I’ll give them credit for that.
Making fun of uncanny valley animation. Again, something that should have been made fun of years ago, and also something Disney is very much guilty of.
Including toons from other countries and mediums. For a very long time I’ve thought that characters that are CG, stop-motion, anime, etc. can and should be considered toons, and interact with more traditional Western cartoon characters. I’m very glad to see it, though I am bummed that somebody else beat me to it. The Amazing World of Gumball already kinda beat them to it though.
Disney acknowledging the existence of mockbusters is surprising. But again, Gumball already kinda beat them to it.
Acknowledging some toons that have been unfairly forgotten. It was nice to see Roger Rabbit and Bonkers get cameos.
The bad:
This movie is most emphatically NOT canon to the Roger Rabbit universe. It’s some strange alternate world where the rules and the timeline are radically different, and I have no idea why they didn’t bother trying to make it not contradict WFRR and its kin.
For example: Chip and Dale have (obviously) existed as a pair well before the 1980s, and have appeared in many other cartoons since. The same goes for Peter Pan.
In the Roger Rabbit universe, toons don’t usually age. (Otherwise how would Baby Herman remain a baby?) In the Tiny Toon Adventures episode “Fields of Honey”, it’s established that toons keep their youth via laughter, and that toons that don’t get enough laughter grow old and eventually fade away. I suspect some people wouldn’t regard Tiny Toons as a canon source of lore- I’ve talked to at least one person who didn’t think so- but I don’t see why not, since it’s so obviously inspired by WFRR, including unofficial cameos by Roger himself: https://tinytoons.fandom.com/wiki/Roger_Rabbit If you want something closer to WFRR, there’s Mickey Mouse’s 60th birthday TV special, which has Roger in it. Mickey definitely doesn’t look 60 years old in that, now does he? And besides, this movie contradicts itself by showing all the other toons as ageless. Chip and Dale themselves stop aging once they become adults. Why should Peter Pan be the exception? Especially since his whole bit is being forever young? Just for the lulz?
(Also apparently Peter’s backstory is awfully close to what happened to his voice actor Bobby Driscoll in real life. In extremely poor taste I’d say.)
The movie also contradicts itself regarding the whole “CG makeover” thing. Somehow “Ugly Sonic” is a separate character from regular Sonic, and yet Baloo and Pumbaa retain their “live-action” designs. On top of that, Lumiere has somehow not retained his “live-action” design. The movie’s internal logic is basically non-existent.
Uncanny-valley CG characters being toons. This is partly a matter of taste, because I refuse to accept the idea that such characters would ever be considered cartoons. For one thing, none of them have ever been created in our universe to be cartoon characters- why or how would they be elsewhere?
The Rescue Rangers characters being CG animation masquerading as traditional 2D. The animation was good, but it was incredibly obvious that it wasn’t what it was trying to imitate. They had real 2D animation elsewhere, but I guess they spent most of the budget on other things to do it for real.
The voices. I don’t know why Hollywood studios keep replacing voice actors with celebrities I’ve never heard of. Fans of the original voices would object, and people who have never seen or don’t like Rescue Rangers probably wouldn’t be tempted to see this movie anyway. They could have at least made them sound sped-up. Why Tress MacNeille was the only original voice to return I have no idea.
Gadget having children with Zipper was incredibly squick-y. I don’t even wanna think about it.
I have no clue where the writers got the idea that the original Rescue Rangers show frequently had Dale get hit on the head with a pipe, or that Gadget told bad jokes that got everyone laughing. I admit I haven’t watched the series religiously, but I have seen every episode at least once, most of them twice, and I don’t remember anything like that happening that often.
The cameos. Animation has gotten way too obsessed with packing their movies full to the brim with cameos lately and it’s getting tiresome. It works in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, The Lego Movie, and Wreck-It Ralph because it helps set up the worlds of the movies. Ralph Breaks the Internet and Space Jam: A New Legacy felt more like “Look how many properties we own!”, and this movie feels like “Look how much money we spent convincing other studios to lend us their characters!”.
I really take offense at the idea that the Paw Patrol would turn vicious enough to permanently injure someone’s private parts. It just felt like an unnecessary jab by some mean-spirited writer who doesn’t like the show. (It’s an okay show. I’ve watched a few episodes, and yes, it’s kinda dumb, but there’s nothing really wrong with it.) Also, I was very confused as to why they kept calling Nick Jr. “Nickelodeon Junior”. Did some Paramount lawyers object or something?
In conclusion: This movie could have been absolutely amazing, if only somebody had said “wait a minute, that doesn’t make any sense”. It’s like... it was written by people who only had a passing familiarity with what they were referencing, who were trying very, very hard to appeal to superfans, not realizing that those superfans would be able to point out all its flaws. It just doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.

You ever seen/heard of that Mickey Mouse 60th Birthday special where a sorcerer casts a spell on Mickey in which anyone he runs into fails to recognize him?
I have heard of it but I have never seen it and I can’t find it 😔 But that sounds like a really good (and sad 😭) concept as well!!!! Him and Oswald interacting in this scenario would be super interesting to see :’(

Mickey Mouse is one of the most recognizable characters still present in Disney. Mickey Mouse is a household favourite all over the world. Mickey mouse can be said to actually represent Disney in many ways as he is one of thor more popular characters. It is important to recognize this fame because when Walt Disney was alive he used mickey to cash in various businesses and shows.
Mickey Mouse is one of the most revised characters in cinema and Disney has constantly kept updating his character to fit the newer generations. Mickey mouse is also one of the main displays at Disneyland and because it is recognized all over, Disney can introduce it all over the world.
MickeyMouse has various names around the world. He is known as Mi Lao Shu in China, Topolino in Italy, and Musse Pigg in Sweden.
Mickey mouse’s original name was supposed to be Mortimer but Walt Disney’s wife suggested that Micky would be more suitable. Steamboat Willie is the first appearance for Mickey but his feature was in a film known as Fantasia.
MIckey has made appearances in the academy awards, one was in 1988 and 2003. On both occasions he presented awards.
To this date, there are over 121 short films and Features that Mickey Mouse has been a part of.
Mickey Mouse debuted in India on the Doordarshan channel for an hour special on Disney.
There are hidden Mickey Mouses in Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and the best part is searching for them.
In 1988 Walt Disney had given away 6 of the original drawings for the movie steamboat willie to the National Museum of American History. For Mickey Mouse’s 60th birthday he was given a place in the Smithsonian Institution.
In the olden day’s animation was hard to do so they gave mickey mouse gloves for his hands to separate them from the rest of the body otherwise the hands wouldn’t be properly visible as everything would be black.
Walt Disney has confirmed that Minnie and Mickey are married but they like to keep it private. They do not share a home.
The steamboat willie was the first cartoon movie to have synchronized sounds and also the movie featured Walt Disney voice over for Mickey mouse.

Note
So apparently Disney was planning to make the movie “The Search for Mickey Mouse”, which involves Mickey presumingly getting kidnapped, and his friends try to find him, traveling the world while encountering at least one character from every Disney movie. Unfortunately, it was considered too gimmicky and complex, but Disney literally did this plot in Kingdom Hearts, the “Lost Mickey” plot was done in the 60th birthday special and the crossover part was done in Wreck-It Ralph 2
Disney continues to be run by COWARDS, as usual

@d.isney fandom don’t tell me I’m the only one who is interested in a canon divergent take on Mickey’s 60th birthday special. Ya know the one; where Mickey gets cursed by a wizard for using Yen-Sid’s hat without his permission and so anyone who looks at Mickey is incapable of recognizing him. In the end this all solved when Mickey ‘unlocks his own magic’ through a disney-esque dance number but come on, that’s too easy.
Give me a story where Mickey has to go through the realities of life; he has to go through being easily ignored and forgotten. Through the effects of suddenly going from a star to a nobody overnight; he has to go through everything his brother Oswald the Lucky Rabbit went through.
And maybe at the end of the day he doesn’t get his magic back. Not even at the end of the year. The world goes through several years of no Mickey Mouse — despite the fact that their prized mouse camps out in front of their doors every night.
{I’m an angst monster so I’m going to add that maybe Mickey eventually loses hope that he’ll ever be recognized again, so he comes up with a new identity. And then the world comes a knock in’ again. But Things have changed; the mouse certainly has.
And a rabbit, who made his way out of the woodwork on his own, has decided to go looking for his missing family member. After all, it’s what he would have wanted back then.}

My new drawings. Admittedly, they are not painted yet, but I hope that these drawings will be soon and I apologize for that. I was hurrying. Although October has already started, I apologize for being very late, but I am drawing Ducktober well in my own way and I hope that I will be ready for Duckvember, which will be soon.
The first drawing is largely, albeit belatedly, dedicated to one of the best ducks, I mean Professor Ludwig von Drake, who two weeks ago (September 24 to be exact) celebrated the 60th anniversary of his first appearance, when Walt Disney personally invented and did he is one of the smartest ducks in the world, a scientist, but also Donald's uncle. So I wish him a happy anniversary, or rather a happy birthday Ludwig!
Of course, since it’s debatable how he’s Uncle Donald, I drew him with Matilda, Scrooge’s sister, since I, like other Duck fans, associate Ludwig with Matilda, as Don Rosa did. Admittedly, Matilda was invented by the legendary Carl Barks, but I drew Matilda modeled after Don Rosa Matilda McDuck. And I both shipping them.
The second drawing is related to Donald’s classic short “Trick or Treat,” one of the best classic shorts of the time (1952) and one of the best Halloween specials. Granted, I’m not a Halloween fan, but that classic short with the witch Hazel was great, but I drew Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck (Donald’s nephews) as a redraw from one scene where they take “Trick or Treat” sweets. Huey is there like the devil (otherwise I don't like devils), Dewey is like a wizard, and Louie is like a ghost, with the addition of pupils (in the classic short there is none because it is covered). Certainly apart from that classic short, they dressed up like that in both Barks ’eponymous comic and The“ Scariest Story Ever: A Mickey Mouse Halloween Spooktacular ”(definitely one of the best Halloween specials I’ve watched, even though I don’t like Halloween). So I hope both drawings will be painted soon.
Anyway, happy birthday to Ludwig von Drake and happy Halloween to those celebrating!
