So did you ever meet the Gruff Brothers or did your show just played their cartoons?

The Gruff Brothers! I haven’t thought of them for a long time. We only played their cartoon along with Popeye, Mama BoPeep, Belle Bunny and a few other MGM gems. I met some of the girls, outside of the studio. The boys usually kept to themselves. The Gruff Brothers haven’t had a cartoon since the Gruff Gaffer Gallery shorts in the 60s. Those were also the first shorts they talked in. They didn’t do too well. Buried under the sudden rise of Hanna-Barbera Toons. Why watch the Gruff Brothers when Top Cat gave you the same type of mischief.

Thank you! The same week as thanksgiving. I only burned part of the Turkey. Still thinking of the movie we saw last week. And met up with some old toons I haven't seen since the early 80s.

I'm spending my day doing the most fun thing now. Staying in bed.

'EY Doris, got another bella question, Is bella drawn in California or she Is a drawn and raise country toon?

Belle Bunny was drawn in California and her cartoons were and still are mostly made there. But she was designed to be a country gal. Her earliest shorts set her on her farm, 'Warren Farms.' When she moved to color, her cartoons started moving to more settings like the city, fairytale worlds and other countries like in her 90s straight to video London placed movie 'Sherlock Hare Mysteries.'

In each one, she kept her cheery country accent. Along with her trademark double bows and rainboots. I don't think they'll ever draw out the farmgirl from her, at least I hope they don't. That would be a crime! It would be like hearing Goofy with a Brooklyn accent, You don't change respected toons like that.

So I guess, pen was put to paper in LA, but she was drawn to be country.

Some of you know, I had to delete my other Webtoon account.  So I’m reposting some comics including Doris Doodle

I hope you’ll follow the story again. Once all the episodes are up, I’m thinking of revealing where the graphic novel is. It's close and the art is looking great. 

Also, sorry for being gone. Been in a very dark place recently, still working my way out of it. I’m hoping sharing work again will help, along with maybe helping anyone who needs an escape.

Still creating, Still working on books, Yes my post amount has been low.

I wanted to post more this October. Artwork, maybe some announcements on future stuff. Also wanted to answer more Doris and Dawn questions along with posting more lore from that story. I have been working on things. Still adding to the Doris Doodle graphic novel, about to get the Hundred Acre Kingdom out to print. I’m still going, but I haven’t been on social pages as much now.

I’m in the US and the stress of everything now has made it hard to get online and interact. Even going outside is difficult. I have a lot of anxiety and it has been very high most of the time recently. Going online right now really does help raise this up. I’m a person of color and I write a lot of stories that center on giving characters agency. Seeing people actively hate people like me and the people I create for has been extremely disheartening. I don’t like to talk about politics, absolutely not, but unlike when I was in high school and could work merrily away and look in on an election, now It’s an existential dread of possibly being in a dictatorship that sets everything back by decades.

I voted early, made sure my ballot reached its destination. I’m hoping that in a week I can start to relax, even slightly.

I’m sorry I haven’t been more active. Especially this month, Dawn’s favorite month. Very often while working I’ve had to take breaks once a great amount of dread sinks into my mind.

I greatly appreciate everyone who follows my work, and a special shoutout to the patrons and the people on the Doris Doodle Discord!! Seeing that kind of support for my work and characters really helps push me to keep making things and telling stories.

Hope to post more soon, and hope I can do it without feeling overwhelmed by the world.

EY Doris, can you tell us about Bella bunny? I know your a huge fan of her, so don't be shy to tell us every last detail

Belle Bunny is one of the first Toon Stars to exist in Hollywood. I'm sure all of you are too young to know her early Whimsey studios cartoons. They set a standard for most of us back in the early 30s and on.

A real inspiration and honestly a hero to me. I met her at my highest and at my lowest. I don't think I'd be where I am now without her influence.

I'm glad she's still a star today. Though they do work her hard. As much as Minnie Mouse with specials and appearances.

Her redesign into full color is adorable.

But I do still love the classic Belle Bunny Cartoons. Have them all on VHS.

Question to op: I know they're not toons but, do the muppets exist in this universe?

In Universe Question

I slight lift behind the curtain.

They exist, but still as puppets, just like stop motion puppets. Toons are basically living forms of light energy carrying paint and ink (This goes back to the Lester Light story). So in this universe, most artists, animators and creators are like doctors with the same status taking care of toons. But there are still forms of puppeted art. Also, I always admired Jim Henson for showing so much behind the scenes and never hiding the puppeteer while performing around kids and not saying Kermit was asleep when he'd set him down. Feels right to let the muppets feel the same in this world. They're alive, but only with the person next to them.

Also, I like the idea of Toons having a hard time distinguishing the puppet from the puppeteer, now matter how hard you show them how it works.
