the chuckle micah gives, the smirk on his face causes emery's stomach to turn into knots. the dread of the situation slowly starts to sink in, but emerson forces himself to ignore it. he can't lose himself just yet. he has to fight. has to find someway to get away. emerson didn't know what the other was capable of. he certainly wish he could get away easily without being forced to find out.
brown doe like eyes stay focused on miach. he could tell calling him insane hit a nerve in the other. this brought some joy, some knowledge that he could potentially hurt the other with words like that or other one similar. but he also knew that he had to be careful. after all, he didn't want micah to hurt him. emerson sees through him. he sees the anger swirling across micah's face. he surely got an advantage even for a second. which causes a tiny smile to cross his face at the realization that he isnt' the only one who gets it. michal doesn't seem to think he's insane, but emery does. he can't hold his graze anymore. he lets go of his own death glare and looks anywhere that isn't at micah. emery's eyes close and he takes a deep breath. he wants to force his mind somewhere else, but he's thrown back into reality upon hearing micah's words. 'i like you.' those words alone causes emery to turn his head back at micah; an eyebrow raises in confusion. "are you sure you're not because surely you seem like it. because honestly, what sane person kidnaps someone they like? you can't force me to like you. i don't have feelings for you, micah. never have, never will; you crazy fuck."
em tries to move once again seeing micah stand up, but like before, he's unable to get very far. the ropes are keeping him from moving. emery's scared that micah would do something because of the words he spoke. he hasn't been in this situation before, so it's hard for him to hold his tongue and stay quiet. this man is not the man who he befriended. he's someone dark, gloomy. it makes him wonder if he ever truly knew micah. he doesn't like the man who stands before. the micah he liked, the one who was his friend, isn't what stands before him. this one is different and emerson knows he won't hesitate to hurt him. his eyes never leave the other. he doesn't want him to see that he's scared. he tries to keep it together, but the switch blade coming out causes him to flinch once more. but the flinch turns into a shudder that flows through his body, causing a tiny whimper to escape, upon seeing the switch blade close to his body. the situation he was in became serious and despite the locks being technology friendly, he knew he had to somehow get out before micah causes him pain. "i haven't been in your condo you fucking prick." emery huff at micah saying he's not a villain. "then what are you, huh? you're definitely not a hero." he watches as micah cuts off the ropes with his switch blade. there's a sense of relief radiating from him as his hands rub his wrist and he kicks the rope off his legs.
it doesn't take emery that long to realize he has his chance to escape, or to put at least some distance between himself and micah. without much hesitation, emerson jumps up from the chair and runs outside of the room; in hopes of seeking an escape to get him away from his captor.
micah gazes at emerson like he's soaking up every minuscule reaction, relishing in whatever emerson offers him.  the flinch earns a half-smirk from micah, lips curling upward as he chuckles.  he's used to being intimidating, he's used to people shying away from him—even fans sometimes find him unnerving—but here, now?  micah's no real threat, no more than he usually is, even if emerson doesn't know it yet.
still, emerson's words tempt him.  the word insane tempts him.  his jaw works as he clenches his teeth, fingers curling into fists as he leans back in the chair to send a heated glare twards emerson, seemingly ignoring his plea for the ropes to be loosened.  micah's contemplating tightening them just out of spite, but that isn't why micah's brought him here.  he struggles to remind himself of that as he thinks about grabbing his switchblade from his pocket and giving emerson a good slice just to get back at him.  "you wouldn't be the first to call me that," he finally says, voice strained beneath the quiet, split-second anger he's feeling.  his psychiatrist had once entertained the idea — micah being labeled clinically insane, but he wasn't.  he isn't.  obsessive, maybe, and certainly a little crazy outside of a clinical sense, but he's not insane.  he knows exactly what he's doing.  he wants emerson's love and in his mind, this is the best way to get it. to shut out everyone else and leave only micah.  "but i'm not, you know.  insane.  i like you, and it's because i like you that i'm not cutting out your fucking tongue for being an insulting fuck."
he huffs out a breath of air as if it's costing him actual energy to refrain from hurting emerson and he's annoyed with having to do so.  in that instant, micah decides he prefers begging emery over pissed off emery — but he likes the emery who'd been hanging out with him the night before even more.  micah wants to get back to that.  the friendship they were heading towards, and maybe something more if micah could manage not to scare the other off more than he already had.  in one lithe movement he stands, plucks his switchblade from his jeans, and moves to stand beside emerson as he flips the blade open.  he holds it there, fixed in mid-air as he delivers a pointed glare down at emerson.  "fingerprint reader locks, just so you know.  and we're in my condo, you fuckin' ass.  this ain't some cheesy movie and i'm not some villain."  the words come with a sense of indignation as if emerson had been throwing around pointless insults just because.  as if he hadn't been absolutely correct.  micah slips the blade down to cut the ropes tying emerson down.

“The Bogeyman” 1973
“Things are Queer”, taken in 1973 by Duane Michals. This body of work contains 9 photographs and is considered a circular narrative. All of the images are in black and white which gives us a sense of positive and negative space in the photos. Although none of the photos show anything queer. When looking at the first photograph, we see a bathroom with a tub, sink, and toilet. Nothing unusual about the photo. As we continue to look at the other photos, a foot is introduced in the frame. This foot belongs to a person, which seems to show that the bathroom is   smaller. The next photo shows a thumb holding down a page of a book. And we see the pervious photo in the book. The photo before was taken from a book someone was reading. Next frames we see the person reading the book from a close and far point of view. This photo is seen in a frame hanging above the sink. Normally a mirror would be above the sink but instead a photo is hung above. This symbolized that the series was being mirrored. This whole series in looked as a loop. The frame zooms out and we see the sink. The last photo shows the same photo as the first one. Nothing in this series showed anything about queerness. When looking at the definition, queer is used as an umbrella term for sexual and gender minorities. Although queer used to mean strange or peculiar. This series is strange and not the usual norm we usually see in photos, especially in a narrative story. Theirs always a beginning and end, but for Michals he decided their was nether of those. This continuous loop was a failed way of capturing reality.
“The Bogeyman”, taken in 1973 is another piece of work that Duane Michals has worked on. This body of work contains 8 photos and is also a narrative piece. All of the photos are taken in one singular room. The location doesn’t change at all. The photos are also black and white to show the positive and negative space in the room. When looking at the photos, they are all connected and looks like a mini film. In the first photograph, theirs a little girl sitting on a chair reading and a coat hanger is next to her. The next few photographs show the girl looking at the hanger and getting up and examining it, curious who’s beneath the coat and hat. Once the girl sees no one she goes back to sit down. The next photo, the coat hanger is blurry, indicating that it’s moving. The last two photos, the coat and hat get off the hanger and go towards the girl and carry her away as she screams in fear. With the title, “The Bogeyman”, the coat hanger is supposed to represent the boogeyman who takes misbehaving children to teach them to behave better. Although in the photos, it’s not indicated that the girl was misbehaving. All we saw as the audience was her reading a book. Although when she opened the coat, she could have seen something she shouldn’t have, but curiosity got the best of her.
When looking at “Things are Queer” and “The Bogeyman”, both of these bodies of work are both narrative pieces. Michals was heavily influenced by photojournalism in the 1960s, that he used the medium and turned it to communicative narratives. Both of these pieces of works revolve around one certain subject and the location doesn’t change. For “Things are Queer”, it can be argued that it does have different locations from the bathroom to the book, to the alleyway, but this was all in one singular photo that was shown as a loop. Both of these photos are in black and white. Although Michals shows the positive and negative space in his photos differently with how close or far the subjects are. For the “Things are Queer”, when the foot entered the frame in the bathroom, the space became closer and little space was available. There was a lot to look at in the bathroom once we zoomed out and saw a whole person. Same goes for the other photos with how close we were to the book to zooming out of who was reading the book and then back to beginning in the bathroom. For “The Bogeyman”, the space around the room was empty. We as the audience was able to focus on the subjects and not much of the surrounding area. As for the narrative of each work, “Things are Queer”, didn’t have an ending. The loop of the photographs were on repeat and there was no telling when it’ll end. And nothing was mention about being queer in the photos. Although the message still sends even though there are no queer people in the photos. With the loop still going, it sends a message of failing to capture reality. That there is no world that exist where queer people don’t exist. By staying on this loop, it shows how others were living in a fantasy of having everything normal just as the photographs show. And as mentioned before, queer was used as strange and peculiar. And this topic related to Michals as well as he was a part of the LGBTQ+ community. As for “The Bogeyman”, the story wasn’t related to him. Michals wanted to portray fear and disturbance and used the boogeyman to create his series of photos.

Things are Queer (as a Fairytale), 1973. Nine gelatin silver prints. Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh. Courtesy of the Artist and DC Moore Gallery.
The work is a circular narrative, with the first and last image being identical, but the significance of the image is radically altered by the narrative.
It is hard to not suppose that the handwritten title at the top makes reference to Michal's homosexuality, and as several critics have taken this to be the key to the interpretation of the whole. Jonathan Weinberg's essay on 'Things are Queer' is among the best examples of this approach.
The second clue for understanding the work is to be found in the small portion of text in the fourth image in the sequence. It is a fragment of the Brother's Grimm fairytale (from 1812) that goes by various titles, including 'The Story of the Boy Who Went Forth to Learn Fear' and 'The Youth Who Could Not Shiver and Shake'.
Michal's cleverness is so engaging that it overwhelms his imagery as aesthetic objects... So much intellectual complexity that grabs us with multiple layers of meaning, but the images are reduced to cold, unmoving means to reflecting on the puzzles of meaning.

Here are NHL expansion draft protected lists for Vegas Golden Knights
Tumblr media
The 30 NHL teams not named the Vegas Golden Knights submitted their expansion draft protected lists on Saturday, and on Sunday those lists were released to the public.
Teams had the option of protecting seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie; or eight skaters and one goalie. Players with no-movement clauses had to be protected by teams, unless they agreed to waive them.
As a reminder: The Golden Knights have to draft at least 14 forwards, nie defensemen and three goalies. They get one player from each team. The value of the players they draft needs to be between 60 percent and 100 percent of the upper limit of the salary cap, meaning they need to take on some big contracts; but they’re not allowed to buy out any players that they select until next summer.
Oh, and there will of course be trades made with Vegas, in an attempt to get them to stay off certain exposed players – or with teams that want the Knights to select players and then ship them to them. It’s like money laundering, but with players!
As the Golden Knights passive aggressively put in on Saturday in a statement: “Vegas has indicated that they will give all 30 clubs every opportunity to keep their rosters intact if they’d like. This means that before the Golden Knights claim a player off a team’s unprotected list, McPhee and his staff are willing to negotiate deals so the other clubs do not lose a player they would otherwise like to keep.”
OK, so who is available? Here are the lists!

Review By Alison Booth
Following the postponement of the tour scheduled for November last year, the anticipation has been building since then for the return of the ‘Voice Of Rock’, the legend that is Glenn Hughes, to UK shores.
Glenn‘s first solo album in over eight years, “Resonate”, was released in early November and received only positive, glowing reviews! I was particularly looking forward to seeing some of the new songs played live.
The Rescue Rooms was pretty full when my son and I made our way through at 7pm. UK hard rockers STONE BROKEN appeared onstage not long after, full of energy and obviously delighted to be opening for Glenn. Frontman Rich Moss remarked how happy he was to see the venue almost full at this stage of the evening and their set was greeted with enthusiasm from the crowd. The band performed tracks from their debut album “All In Time”, as well as a brand new track, which was announced will be on the follow-up album. STONE BROKEN played an impressive set, full of energy (with only just enough room onstage for guitarist Chris Davis to move around!) and professionalism, proving to be very popular with the crowd!

The majority of the audience was on the more mature side of life, testament to the lengthy time span of Glenn‘s career. That said, there was also a younger element in the crowd, so it’s great to see that parents are involving their children and passing on the love for true legends of music.
Band members keyboard/Hammond organ player Jay Boe, drummer Pontus Engborg and guitarist Soren Andersen appeared onstage to much applause, along with a very happy looking Glenn Hughes, bursting into the first song of the set, ‘Flow’ from “Resonate”. Tonight’s set contained a healthy mixture of tracks from Glenn‘s 40+ year career, it can’t have been an easy task to decide which songs to include, but it was a set list very well chosen.

Glenn Hughes, Nottingham 2017
Up next a couple of older songs – ‘Muscle & Blood’ and ‘Getting Tighter’. Glenn‘s voice sounded in fine form, even though he later told us that he had a cold. He looked every inch the legend, with his worn looking Yamaha bass, long flowing hippy style shirt with waistcoat, flared trousers and scarf, not forgetting the cool touch of orange thumb nails! Another new track, ‘Stumble And Go’ complete with heavy soulful grooves went down well with the crowd.
TRAPEZE track ‘Medusa’ was a highlight of the show, Glenn telling us beforehand that he wrote it aged seventeen in his Mum’s kitchen, dedicating the song to her. ‘Can’t Stop The Flood’ and ‘One Last Soul’ were excellent. Throught the show Glenn‘s vocals were fantastic, along with great presence and precise guitar riffs from Soren, plenty of power and skill from Pontus behind his eyecatching glitter green drum kit and Jay made the Hammond organ sing, a perfect addition to any Glenn Hughes song!
Glenn told a few stories and had a few words to say between songs, some poignant, mostly funny – for example a trouser mishap and bass guitar tuning from his DEEP PURPLE days, giving the crowd a laugh!
Moving on to some classic tracks from the DEEP PURPLE era – ‘You Keep On Movin” and ‘Might Just Take Your Life’, which Glenn dedicated to his old friends Jon Lord and Keith Emerson.
An excellent balance of heavy rock fused with soul brought us ‘Soul Mover’ then the epic BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION track ‘Black Country’, a perfect end to the set.
Glenn and his band completed the night with two brilliant final songs for the encore – ‘Heavy’ from “Resonate” and the iconic DEEP PURPLE track ‘Burn’, absolutely fantastic! Glenn is always extremely humble and thankful to his fans for their love and support, giving 100% to them with each performance.
The band took their final bows and Glenn left us with the strong message: “Love one another, music is the healer. It’s the only thing that we can rely on to give us the self satisfaction that we’re going to be okay. Music is the centre of my universe.”
Show Rating: 10/10

Here are NHL expansion draft protected lists for Vegas Golden Knights
Tumblr media
The 30 NHL teams not named the Vegas Golden Knights submitted their expansion draft protected lists on Saturday, and on Sunday those lists were released to the public.
Teams had the option of protecting seven forwards, three defensemen and one goalie; or eight skaters and one goalie. Players with no-movement clauses had to be protected by teams, unless they agreed to waive them.
As a reminder: The Golden Knights have to draft at least 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies.
As the Golden Knights passive aggressively put out Saturday in a statement: “Vegas has indicated that they will give all 30 clubs every opportunity to keep their rosters intact if they’d like. This means that before the Golden Knights claim a player off a team’s unprotected list, McPhee and his staff are willing to negotiate deals so the other clubs do not lose a player they would otherwise like to keep.”
OK, so who is available? Here are the lists!
