The Naked Truth (1957)
My rating: 6/10
I've never really been a farce enjoyer - the whole thing with the wacky misunderstandings and all tends to frustrate and annoy, rather than amuse me - but this one does have some very funny moments.

The Saint: The Art Collectors (5.18, ITC, 1967)
"I don't understand you, Mr. Templar."
"Why, it isn't that I object to doing the fair thing, it's just that I don't like being forced to do it at gunpoint."
#the saint#the art collectors#1967#itc#leslie charteris#michael pertwee#roy ward baker#roger moore#ann bell#peter bowles#geoffrey bayldon#nadja regin#james maxwell#philo hauser#richard shaw#garfield morgan#bryan kendrick#i actually have seen this one before but for some reason literally the only part i remembered was Simon eating a sandwich during an escape#attempt (it's a nice little character moment in a very playful episode). we're in france with priceless paintings and would be thieves#so this feels very traditional‚ very reminiscent of the black and white series. we've another great cast‚ headed by the lovely Ann Bell#and she's reunited with her 3.17 costar James Maxwell!! they're not on the same side this time tho... JM also having a great deal of fun as#a German pretending to be French pretending to be Geoffrey Bayldon‚ and the look he conjures as Simon rips off his fake beard is really#quite something. and then there's Peter Bowles and Garfield Morgan... these casts are getting very impressive! the plot here isn't the#tightest tbh‚ with a little too much repetitive back and forth with the paintings‚ but it's a lighter‚ fluffier episode and that's always#welcome. it is telling that the conclusion of the episode has Simon supporting the Russian's claim on the da Vinci paintings and helping#to get them returned to their 'rightful home' in a Russian museum; with the original owner dead and with no descendants wouldn't it make#just as much sense to return the paintings to Italy?? idk#oh!! i almost forgot!! Simon uses the stick figure calling card for what im pretty certain is the first time in the series (it's generally#only been used to frame him so far or perhaps once to frame himself to go undercover or something) but yeah he does it for real!

Michael Sheen as the Master from Doctor Who.
On the BBC show The Assembly, Michael Sheen was asked who on doctor who he would play and he said the Master. Ideally opposite David Tennant ofcourse. He also mentioned Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker being his first doctors so ofcourse I had to be inspired by Roger Delgado and Anthony Ainley.

The Saint: When Spring is Sprung (5.26, ITC, 1967)
"Let me tell you something about Simon Templar: the more he smiles, the more helpful, the more cooperative, the more honest and charming he is, the more you can be sure he's plotting something diabolical."
#the saint#when spring is sprung#itc#leslie charteris#jim o'connolly#michael pertwee#roger moore#toby robins#ann lynn#allan cuthbertson#ivor dean#george pastell#gary watson#harvey ashby#douglas livingstone#bryan mosley#eric dodson#leslie crawford#peter brace#doel luscombe#colin rix#kenneth edwards#leslie anderson#john frawley#a fairly charming ep about Simon being approached to help break a Russian spy out of prison. it isn't the most sparkling of scripts but#Moore and the guest cast are clearly having fun; notably even the Russian agents in this episode are quite nice‚ several arguing against#killing Simon bc they just like him so much. there's a sort of half hearted attempt at suggesting a Russian spy is just doing a job and#should not be considered a traitor etc etc but it's undone by a (fairly obvious) twist in the last act. the Spring character‚ his well#publicised trial and sensational escape from prison are all presumably inspired by the George Blake affair (Blake broke out of prison in#october '66 when this series was likely still in production). Livingstone became a successful tv writer later in his career

Earth Station Who - The Moster of Peladon
The Third Doctor returns to the cavernous Peladon with a new companion and finds that though it is no longer cursed, trouble is brewing. Mike, Mike, and Mary mine the story for precious material while avoiding the death stare of Aggedor.

Michael Sheen talks about David Tennant 3 (4?) times in The Assembly (including the Good Omens kiss) :), 5.4.2024
ONE:
Q: Who's the rudest celebrity?
Michael: Who's the rudest celebrity? Have you heard of a man called David Tennant?
All: Yes!
Someone: He was Doctor Who!
Michael: He was Doctor Who. Doctor Rude! The rudest man.
Someone: Is it so?
Michael: No, he's not really. He's lovely. He's very nice.
(bonus - yes I believe this was a dig at David :D <3
Q: What about Doctor Who? (do you like DW?)
Michael: Doctor Who. Depends on which one.)
TWO:
Q: If you're in Doctor who, who would you play, the Doctor or the Master?
Michael: Oh...
Someone: He's put you on the spot again.
Michael: I'm on that spot. I mean, there's been a lot of very good Doctor Whos.
Q: There has been.
Michael: The first Doctor Who I watched was John Pertwee.
Q: John Pertwee. He was the third Doctor Who.
Michael: Right. Well, he was, and I thought he was brilliant. And then Tom Baker.
Q: He was the fourth Doctor Who.
Michael: Right, yeah. I think maybe the Master would be a good play to part.
Q: I think you'll be the good Master.
Michael: They'll have to bring David Tennant back as Doctor Who again and then I can be the Master opposite him maybe.
THREE:
Q: Can you just walk us through the before, the during and the after of your passionate kiss with David Tennant?
Michael: Well, I remember, I remember reading the script and thinking, that's going to be a big deal, and.... yeah, didn't really talk about it and just went for it. I remember seeing that everyone was quite moved by the scene and all the people who were working on it, so we knew that it had gone quite well. Yeah .And now we never talk about it.
The Assembly can be watched on here (with UK VPN :))

The Fendahl Files: #DoctorWho K9's Creator Speaks! An Exclusive Interview with Tony Harding
From an interview conducted by Simon and Frank Danes (seen here with the Doctor). Aged 14 and studying for our O levels, Simon and I wrote to Tony Harding c/o the BBC visual effects department, and asked if he would be interested in doing an interview for our fanzine, Fendahl. He replied, said he would, and recorded his answers to our questions in great detail on cassette tape. Looking back, I’m…
